She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
Hello, and welcome to the She's on the Money radio show podcast. Stuff.
That's not how you do it, mate?
What is going on? Should I do it? Victoria?
Because I have a turn.
I don't even have it laminated. She's on the Money the podcast for young millennials who are concerned about their cash flow.
Absolutely, you know what actual worst one in the world like that.
I loved it. Do you know what it's about? The tenacity, trav Do you know what we did do this week? We asked that She's on the Money community what marketplace fines they had, and they had some bangers, which we have integrated well into the radio show. That's kind of how I'm planning on running this show moving forward.
Just so you know, okay, boss, wow, Yeah.
I'm not the producer, nor am I the anchor. I'm just the talent.
Didn't realize that this was an air check.
It's actually my show.
Sure, she is on the Money.
Good, I'll just get everybody else to do my work. They give me the tips, they give me the tricks, they tell me what they want to hear on the radio, and then I put it on the radio and I'm giving the.
People what they want, working smarter, not harder.
I work really hard.
To Yeah, you know, speaking of working hard, we have been working hard to try to get you the greatest birthday present ever, Victoria.
Now we're going to turn around to be like, my presence is your presence?
No, exactly what that's such.
A trap joke and joke exactly make that.
I kind of feel like you would as well, Mitch, and you've just thrown me under the bus. But we've been working hard together, Mitch and I.
Because I'm quite unimpressed.
It is your birthday. And no, we did not spend any money on you. We're going to spend thousands and thousands, but we knew that we would get vic Tori Devine going, you need to save money, you need to be frugal. So we've done that, Mitch, tell them what we've done.
Listen, I forget what do we do.
The free birthday stuff? It's all right, we'll edit it out where this goes to where you'll be fight all right and go.
Yes, what we have is and God, I remember this like it just happened. This is one of my favorite things. And I could never forget doing this because I run you through free shit you can get on your birthday, and I know you thinking, oh yeah, we all know you can get a boost juice that is a bigger than boost juice. And I have a lot of culinary ones. A lot of it's food related, to be honest, but that's all people care about these days.
Impressed that you said the word culinary in this show.
Hey, I didn't even know your words so.
Big, so they pay me the it's like medium sized dollars. It's kind of in the medium. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do fine.
Justin I'm going to bring up uber eats again and remember the time you spent seventeen thousand dollars in one financial year on uber eat.
But that's we can talk.
Oh my gosh, look he's got another bag.
He does not, But the good news is he actually bought that with his tax return. Because we have our very last Super Savior Saturday Tax Edition, Victoria. We know that you know it's your favorite segment, but put tax on top of it. It is your Super Savior Saturday Tax Edition. You love it.
I love tax.
All right. Well, that's enough talking from us. Let's get into the show right now. This is She's on The Money Radio Show enjoyed everyone.
She's on The Money Radio Show.
With Victoria Divine next week. Victoria, it's your birthday.
I'm in my thirties, embrace it now. I'm sorry, but Mitch and I haven't brought you anything but to what we know you will. Won't yet yet. No, no, no, no, no, yourself. We've done something even better than that because we've gotten together and we have found some of the greatest places out there. They give you free stuff on your birthday, right, Mitch.
So, I don't know if you knew this, but if you've got a Krispy you show them that it's your birthday. You can prove it. You get four free original glazes Krispy Kreen.
Get the hell.
Oh that's enough a friend.
Oh well, you're talking to me. That's enough of mid morning tea for me.
If we got tras well, what about on the same kind of dessert train going to Baskin Robins you get a free scoop of ice cream.
That's pretty good too.
Not that, but also, I am an absolute fiend Fernandos. If you've ordered something off of their app in the last six months, and yeah, let's be honest, we've all done it in the last six seconds. You get a free meal.
At Oh my god, that's so exciting for everybody who's not me because I'm vegan.
All right, Mitch, what have you got?
You can get a free muffin at Mine's off food related. Sorry, you get a free muffin at muff and Break. You get a free drink at Gloria Jeans. All on your birthday.
I want someone to call in and tell me that they have had a birthday, like they've gone and just done all of these things in one day. Like they went to Boost for breakfast, then they went and got morning to Heasy cream. They went and got a free muffin or sorry, they went to Nando's for lunch.
That Nando's app Yes, And then they went to.
Muff and Break and they got their afternoon muffin and then a coffee from Glory of Jeans. Like, I want someone who's done all of this and had a free day of food.
Oh, you can hit us up on ourselves, DM guys, we'll get you on the show.
And happy birthday, Victoria Divine. If you don't like your presence, you know what we did keep the receipts because they were free anyway, telling me dream, telling me dream.
And we do this on the show. We get really really ridiculous Facebook Marketplace items that have actually been posted to Facebook Marketplace. And if you don't know what Facebook Marketplace is, we talk about it a lot. It's like eBay or gum Tree, but it's built in to the Facebook app. And I absolutely love it. Victoria, You've got some good ones.
I have some bangers for you. So many people have messaged us over the last few weeks because we did this segment a little while ago and they were like, they you missed this and this and this, and so today I have them for you and I cannot wait to share. So first things first, it's not Ritmas, but end of financial year for someone like me feels like Christmas.
So you know what you could buy very festive. Someone has taken a clear Christmas ballble filled it full of baked beans and made a Christmas decoration out of it. What it's not the fact that field a Christmas ornament with baked beans, it's the fact that they think they can get twenty five.
Dollars for this. How much would you pay?
What wouldn't you pay? Is the real question here?
Well, that's priceless. To be honest, I've got one. I've gone This one is quite simply and you know you got to give it to them. Really simple marketing. Here it's just called underwear. There's two photos with pink laced underwear and black lace and the description is underwear good condition, like.
New, like new.
What does like you mean like? It's like lightly warn.
I'm going to call it. I don't think they're going to wear those, kause I don't think that's why they're buying.
Oh, moving on Saturday, tell them their dreaming.
Speaking of family show, everybody loves love and what's better than love? Then Darren's secondhand engagement ring that he would like nine hundred dollars for because he says it was the biggest mistake of his life. If anyone's interested. It is a princess cut centered diamond on a gold band.
You being the expert getting married soon? What is that is a good ring? Oh?
Look, it looks all right. I just I don't know how much i'd like somebody else's secondhand ring that was labeled as the biggest mistake of his life.
You've already got a haunted You don't want a haunted ring on your True.
The other one I got sent this week is actually, see this picture. It's a basketball hoop playing on the ground and it's this dad and his name's Damien. Damien says basketball hoop for sale. I'm really disappointed my son is not nearly as athletic as I hope to pick up only one hundred dollars.
Why is your dad selling his basketball hoop?
Mitch, He's really disappointed his son is not nearly as athletic as he at.
Hope that's what I was implying.
But I just feel like there's been some winners, and unfortunately it was the She's on the Money community who found these for us, not us.
If you have seen something bizarre marketplace hit us up on our social was just search She's on the Money. And my favorite thing about that was Mitch asked in the song, what's the group called again?
Oh? I wonder the group's called She's on the Money because.
I haven't been accepted in It's like answer these questions and I put them in and they're like, now give me your data. Bird too much.
I want to make sure that everybody in that Facebook group is like a legit person, not a bot. I'm in there every day commenting. I just to actually assume that the second you join my Facebook group, we're best friends. So I treat you that way. And the question, if you actually read them, was like, will you agree to be nice to everybody in this group?
And also it's just like, no, I'm not.
Even reading absolutely not.
I didn't read it. I'll be He's the.
One passively aggressively messaging people on Facebook marketplace telling them that their items are terrible. Well, so I don't even know if I want this guy in the group.
This is She's on the Money radio show.
But right now it's time for this. Every single week we've got to bring some financial story on air to get your advice, Victoria on what they should do. Mitchill, we got this.
Week, Yeah, we have. Sam. Sam sent us this message. She said, I just had four weeks annually, have approved for the end of the year, and want to start booking accommodation in for a holiday, which is smart. She wants to get in early, but she's noticed in just a few weeks looking online that the prices keep fluctuating. One apartment was going to cost two grand for a few days, but then she checked back right the next day and it was up to twenty five hundred for
the same room, exact same dates. She says, why does accommodation fluctuate in price so much? And how far out from a trip is the cheapest time to book accommodation?
Is this your confession that we were trying to get out of you?
This is at the start of the show, like the silliest person in the entire world, because when it comes to money, like I'm the one that's entrusted by all of my friends to make sure that iBook and so like, guys, I have covered this, so like this is my money mistake. I'm not passing it on to my friends. But a couple of weeks ago, I told you, guys that I'd like work doubt when the cheapest time to book flights
was Tuesday eight pm. I also told you that you should do it on a device that doesn't have cookies on it, so that's either on your mates lack laptop or whatever. So I did that by going into private browsing.
Somehow I ended up on the American version of Sky Yes, so we can probably play a guess and game and the conversion rate to USD at the moment, not that sexy guess who paid for all of her friend's flights in USD instead of AUD and definitely didn't get the deal of the lifetime she thought she yes, And I didn't know until I was reviewing my credit card statement the other day and I was like, what is this Like? That is not what I spent on flights cross checked it,
called them. Was a bit of a Karen on the phone because I was like, please explain this, and the poor girl on the phone had to be like, Victoria, you have booked your flights in USD, so there was an exchange rate payable and your screwed.
My question to you is do you still go and be the hero to your friends or you just capt that extra money yourself.
So I've been the hero to my friends. I felt like it wasn't their fault. I made such a big money blunder. I'm just copying that one on the nose. It was a very expensive mistake, but I just don't want to pass that on. I feel like that wasn't their fault. I messed it up and the flights genuinely were that amount. I just happened to pay for them. In the wrong currency. Oh so that was no real advice, no real advice. But I feel like pre booking is
really important when it comes to accommodation. If you're planning on going on a holiday, it always pays to do those flexy ones. So you're like, you know, any book and you're like, go online.
Yes, what does flexi mean?
Yeah, it means you can like unbook and rebook if the price changes, and closer to the date. Often the price does change cheaper. Yeah, Usually it gets a little bit cheaper because they're like trying to fill it up.
Yeah.
Also, if it doesn't get cheaper, at least you've locked in the smallest rake, right. But if you prebook and pick non flexy often they will go all right, well you locked it in. It's completely nonrefundable, and even if you see it cheaper elsewhere, you can't get a better deal. So if I was in that situation one, I'm a little bit of a hustler when it comes to getting
a good deal. So if I saw my room rate at a cheaper rate before I left, I'd probably still call them anyway and be like, yo, I saw this, can I please have it price matched or something?
For them to say you have no shame.
I have no shame. Honestly, the money win is a money wins exactly. And my favorite part about it is everybody thinks it's like asking too much, but like, think about the types of people that you call. They're just like you and I. They're either working in the call center, they're like on reception. Well, like they get it. They want a good deal too, and if you're nice to them on the phone, they're very likely to be like, all right, try have like that makes sense. Story checks out.
So the takeaway is have no shame.
No shame because if you don't ask, the answer it's always no. It's not like you're calling their CEO of Crown Hotels and asking him for a discount. You're just calling the nice people that work on reception and going, hey, saw this at a better rate. What can you do? And they might not be able to change it. What they could do is potentially upgrade your checking or something like. There's always a deal to be had.
Speaking of deals to be had, super save a Saturday, Victoria, you're going to give us some sneaky tips on.
As if I haven't been giving you enough sneaky tips today.
That's what you get paid for, mate, if you want to keep them coming.
It's the show's actually the show.
Sorry, guys, we're not doing the show anymore because Victoria has over you to give.
You save Saturday. Yes said, it's ere first everyone, and the financial year is on the last week of financial year. Actually, so we've got some tax tips to help you save some money in your tax return. Victoria. You've got a couple of them in your hot pocket.
I do, I always do. Can it be like tax time tips or does I have to be a specific tax related tip?
You know what, Give us whatever tips you want, Victoria, We'll take it.
So my first tax time tip is it's end of financial years, so, like, what a better time to set some financial goals and actually think about where we're going for the next six or twelve months. I feel like too many of us wait until the first January to make new goals and resolutions to save money, and when it gets to June thirty, you're like, oh, so far, I can't believe I haven't saved x y Z or I can't believe I did this. So this year it's
all about shopping around and getting the best deal. So if you haven't relooked at your phone plan, or you haven't looked at your electricity recently, or you haven't really culled down your streaming services, now, my friend, is the time to set yourself up for a very healthy July.
A personal audit.
Yeah, do a little personal audit and have a look at what you're spending. You could save some money.
Yeah, all right.
Well, next one I've got is actually a little bit niche. But the reason I'm saying it is because the ATO spokesperson came out late last year and said this to Cansta, who happens to be the company that Budget Direct won so many awards with yes, did you say?
Yeah?
Absolutely? But the ATO spokesperson came out and said, this year we're going to be paying close attention to capital gains, in particular from cryptocurrency as well as traditional property and shared But too many people don't understand that if you bought and sold crypto currency, because I feel like that was real trendy.
Heaps of people did, Yeah.
You're gonna have to pay capital gains tax on that. So if you're not prepared for that, now is the time to have a bit of a look at what you could be up for because if you're jumping up and down about having made some money on crypto, did you know that you have to pay fifty percent capital tax if you sell that with owning it? It's wild? And then the next one you said, make it juicy niche do you know juicy?
Do you?
There's nothing sexier than superannuation? One thing is sex in the morning. I will and if you're looking to get a little bit more bang for your buck and you haven't recently looked at your super fund, I would be having a look at that and working out whether making a non concessional contribution is a smart idea for you, which means putting extra cash in because you will get a tax refund on that because the tax rate inside
supernuations only fifteen. Oh mey sexy. There's obviously caps and stuff associated, so definitely have a look and make sure it is in line with your values. But you could have a bit of a money win for future you by putting some more money in super this year.
Yeah, I know what that is? Way too many tips. I am way too excited for a Saturday morning, So I think it's time before you overload my brain and mitches, let's get out of here. We're going to catch up with you next week. Until then, you can catch up with us anytime that you like, anytime, just certainly anytime.
We basically live on the internet.
Yeah, she's on The Money on Socials.
