Ten days away. Welcome to seven days to play your Weekly mobile game review program. I'm Sam. And I'm Edwin each week, except for the last week, which was two weeks. Every two weeks we review a new mobile game and I chose Tomb of the Mask Tomb of the Mask. Tomb of the Mask is a 2016 game by happy magenta but also has the name Play Gin Dairy on the front. So I don't really understand how these games you use work. I guess I just all collaborate
on everything. Oh yeah, I think maybe pledging. Dairy is the publisher. If they'd probably be played in Derry, is the publisher. And what is it pure magenta? Is that what you said? Happy magenta, happy magenta is developer. My favorite color. You may remember pull each and every from our very first ever episode 1, Bo Masters. How would you describe the gameplay mechanic of Tomb of the Mask? This is a arcade Adventure. Adventure question mark, arcadius question, Adventure question, mark.
Yeah, it's kind of, like, a puzzle action action can write as a little bit of puzzle to it. There's a little bit of puzzle. There's little bit action. You got to move quick, right, there's a bit of dexterity involved. Yep. It's not turn based. You got to be on there with your thumbs. You play as mr. Tomb or mr. Moss. I think you'll carry it does wear a mask, so I'm going to having a coin mr.
Mask, you You are in different levels which I assume are tombs of this ancient Mayan Temple. I think I get the sense that it's like, some kind of mine thing because you start off in some like, pyramid looking thing. Mmm. Yeah, beginning of the game and then when you press start it like zooms you in. Yeah. No, it's not super strong old story. No, start. No. You know what? One of my bad points like a sport. Yeah. And it kind of reminds me of Pac-Man. Yes, where you have to collect
the dots and stars. But also combine that with a maze will traps. Exactly. So whenever you swipe in any direction, it moves your character in that direction until it hits a wall. Yeah, we actually quite a nice mechanic. There's something pleasing about that. Yeah, but that potion, it's not like other games. Maybe have like swiping, hold for anything to move units. To flick, move flick, move, flick move.
Let me forget what game it is. But there is sort of like there wasn't any s game where you had to push blocks in certain directions. Right? And it had a very similar mechanic where like if you press the One Direction? No, just keep going. Until it hit the wall. And so you look at the map
right? And you would be forced to try and make the right sequences of moves so that you don't hit a section of the wall that has spikes, which obviously means that if you hit it, you die and it's the same thing for here, right there is going to be some areas where the walls have spikes. So you got to make sure to swipe your dude. Due to a direction where told you that? Yep. Through to a wall, doesn't does not have spiky spikes.
You get maybe half a second or a second to move before the spikes appear, right? But there are some some walls where the spikes are just there. Well, the pumice bikes it's Perma spikes. There are sections of the wall where if you stay there for like a split second, the spikes will come out. So you have the affordance to move there very quickly before you have to move out of the way. No, I said that differently. Yeah, there's a whole bunch of other things. There's the little expanding
face guy. Mmm, who periodically will expand, as if inhaling helium and then breathing it out. And if he touches you, you die, you die. And sometimes there are aliens that drop down from the ceiling and if you touch them you die and then sometimes there is a goblin that spits fire periodically and if you touch the fire, Are you die? So, you know you have to work as they say, pretty hard to stay alive, right?
Lots of lots of barrels, reference them, lots of things, you need to take into consideration in order for you to complete each level. My favorites of all which wasn't actually trapped more of a little game mechanic. Is you find little slightly block and you just zoom straight off in a kind of a Sonic in the tunnel kind of fashion which is very pleasing to me. Mmm then we have you're not pleased by that. Well I'm generally not By the
game. I'm gonna find a tiny grain of gold in this River of silt much, like the goal that you had to collect within the game. But, you know, you see gonna find something. Now, I like that when you find a little little r, a trampoline, mmm, trampoline. And I call it. I can't say that I reached there. Okay, this is why I'm trying to skirt around the subject. Busted.
Okay, well, speaking of which shall we say, how far we got into the game, sure we should mention there are two modes entirely obvious to the Casual player. But first, there's the, there's the arcade mode. So I think it was the original mode. So this game is actually a couple years old. And I first came out as like an infinite, scroll are where you need to keep collecting balls, no, collecting gold and out running. Something could have moving up
behind you. Oh, that's gonna remind me quite a lot of balls rush in that way. Like, pretty similar mechanics like, yeah, and I guess kind of like Temple Run as well. Which is a game that you haven't tried yet, which is a game. I haven't played yet. So I know people keep mentioning it but I don't know what it is. So I'm gonna ignore it. That was arcade mode, though. That's what the default mode.
I think in the last year, they added the map mode, which is pretty much your more standard level by level play. We're in Theory. There's a map is Autumn at all. This is a station of boxes connected together by line lines. Which again is not like to the story. Yeah. There are certain amount of stars that you can get.
I don't know if this actually unlocks further Maps, I assume it does but I believe you can only play certain number of maps, add a 0 as as noted by the little lightning bolt on top. Enough energy. I think if you die too many times, that's my understanding, you get five lives but I could be wrong. Mmm, so it's not actually level of maps. It's thinks level of the amount of times you can die. Gotcha. So, where did you reach? I'm each stage, 28.
Oh, I reached stage 8. Like what's really annoying is that I do? How many actual stages there are in total? Because you can just keep on scrolling much like two dots or you got the games, they do keep adding stages. So, if you look on this, the show notes, the app Notes, they will say o added 25 more stages, right? Well, at least, we're two dots. There's backgrounds and map numbers that actually keep track of. Yes. How many you can see coming? I mean, I don't there's no
numbers here. It's just like a series of boxes with locks on them. Let me just say it's a very Why they go hard on the 8-Bit design, they go very hard, and it's not the accurate. 8-bit design that I like those story and inaccurate 8-bit designs on is an already mad at it, but they do some nice things. Is there's a screen effect which I know from Photoshop, which will put little bands of lines. When it puts one of the many, many, many modal windows that you need to tap to start playing.
I need to restart because restart is quite frustrating. The sounds pretty nice, surprise that you notice sleepy. Well, you know, I'm a professional. I turned it off a little bit. Then turn it off. Turn it off right away. Yeah, I think I remember like the signs were pretty good. I mean, the sounds are pretty good. Well, there's that one big topic the rules coating around. Let's talk monetization.
Oh my goodness. One of the first things I, you know, I I try to always note the first time player experience, you know? FTP knocks. The, the first time player experience, yeah, the new user experience, right? Or the, the sign up experience the 50 piece and this had a horrible, first time user experience. It's it kind of reminded me of Pandora where I opened it. And as soon as I opened it there was like a full screen. Add What? I could kill you. Tiny little X on the on the
corner. Oh God. Yeah, and it off. I love that game hunt the X and then made me. It made me think, like, did I download the right app but you know, it's the spam have I have I got got right now being played and after you get rid of it there's like a little Banner ad that sort of is the only thing that's colored in a fairly monotone screen and it's, it's distracting. It's very distracting. And everything that you do, you finish a level?
You lose a life, just brings you to a monetization screen. Oh the first thing that happened after I got rid of that, big ad was, would you like to subscribe? Hmm. So this is a new this game. This is a new thing in a game for 899 a week. I believe you can subscribe for the diamond membership to Tomb of the Mask, right? Which gives you So they
understand the unlimited energy. So as you were saying, you get five lightning strikes, some amount of time you hear get endless plays unlimited energy, get 400 coins a day and then you can remove ads. This is the diamond membership, three days, free trial, and then 799 per week after that, which hmm, I don't know, making money off games is hard, but there's something. But to show that Straight away. You haven't actually played the game at all as K.
It's very gross. Why would I pay this without having played the game at all or any kind of thing? Like, it's just a bit of a strange choice to put. Like that's the first thing you get hidden away in a menu which took me a while to realize is that you can pay 2.99 to remove an ad but my, the majority of the seven days I played it. I thought I my only choice was to spend 799 for a week. That's not actually the case you can spend 299 to remove the ads.
They're you push pretty hard on that diamond membership. Yeah, I was actually playing this on my vacation and I didn't even realize that there is a 299 option and I always just assumed that the only way to get rid of the ads of 799 or something like that. For the monthly weekly. Weekly weekly 799. Weekly 799 weekly. Yeah, it's quite aggressive. They poured in the calculations.
Whew. The fewer Thunders they get but for more money, probably makes them more than if it was cheaper and no one and more people signed up, I don't know. Well, that that's that's the other thing about iTunes subscriptions is I cannot tell you how many times I've subscribed for something on iTunes and forgot to unsubscribe to it. Of course, that's a big issue and it charges me for an extra month. Yes. No. Damn, right. And I just think that's so It's
so it's very dark. Ux e, don't give you a good feeling. No no. And I think that didn't give me a good feeling about this game as well to be kind of front and center 799 a week, but hidden away. The server is a 299 option. Yeah which I don't know. Maybe in the past I would have been to 99 and the monetization for me was so strong that it kind of discounted the genuine nature of the gameplay, for me. It's pretty. It's pretty hard to play.
Oh yeah, retail. And like, almost unplayable, really demeaning like things go because also is arkady, so the levels are pretty quick. Yeah, it takes you maybe 20, 30 seconds, ish to complete a level and then you get a 30-second ad right there. Like, 50% of your time playing is watching that, that's pretty heavy.
And on top of that, like, it's sort of makes it seem like, it's the, I mean, the, the original created the creator of this game might have had really good intentions, and creating a nice puzzle based game. Right. And to me because of the monetization, it almost makes it seem like this game is just a shell. For monetizing. Yeah. And like one of those many ketchapp games.
Exactly that. You loathe My hack to make it playable is just to put into just put in airplane mode, zowie play and suddenly becomes way more playable. Oh, every muscle has Wi-Fi on though. We don't turn off the Wi-Fi. Yeah, I don't know if they don't have Wi-Fi and then I'd become quite playable. Mmm, which is how I got to level 28. I got ya. I didn't bother with that unfortunately and that's why I'm at level 8. That's that was sort of my threshold.
I was like, oh boy. Yeah yeah, yeah I can't play this and But me the gameplay wasn't quite engaging enough to Warrant payment me to sucks. Like I think I wouldn't be mad if I pay to 99 up front. Yeah, he's why I keep coming back to? I'm sure I'm in the minority because I don't mind paying for apps up front. And I know many people do and the invitation is, you can play for free, but yeah, I would have quite happily pay this 299, played it for a few days, no ads.
And I will be mad at it. Whereas now, I'm a little bit out of it. Right. Yeah, I'm the first experience is really put a bad taste in my mouth for the entire game in general. And it definitely has colored my experience in playing this game, it's colored yellow and purple, yellow and purple and a bright. Turquoise blue took walls. Let's get to the three by threes, three by threes. I've reached level 3 and you wait. Started off strong. Gotta feed that towards the end there.
I did not prepare for this. It's all free style, baby hoof. It we'll do it live. Sam hit me with a good point. It is a game. It is a game that exists. It's a game that has existed for over two years with constant development. Kudos to the Developers for persevering through this game. That is true. It has. It was eat regular updates over the last two years and pretty good ratings. Apparently and in the App Store. Yeah.
I enjoyed the did go pretty hard on the 8-Bit Graphics in a way that I don't think I've seen necessarily, like all the menus that little like screen effect, they do like the vertical banding or, I don't know, it's like, oh, yeah, and it kind of screens smooshing and smoosh out, like, turning off an old TV. Yeah, there's a name for that. Very good at the transitions. Like, I think there was a lot of attention, but and to the 8-Bit nature, I like that.
It's like strict pixel art. Meaning like there aren't soft edges. Aren't different opacities. It's like other on. Off, which is cool. A valid, I guess a good point. Is that the actual gameplay has a pretty good mechanic of, you know, action-based / puzzle / dexterity? Which I enjoyed while I was playing. Yeah. Did you find the golfing aspect we needed to collect all the all the gold coins to get the three stars? Mmm. Yeah, I mean, I didn't find it a
problem. Four of the eight levels that I've played of being able to collect all the stars, at least, you tried, Yeah. I mean, most of them, I was able to sort of see ahead and you have to feel like you have, you felt like you had to collect all the stars. Yes, for sure. Look, how can do okay. Yeah, I couldn't proceed on to the next level, which means that I doubled the amount of ads. Did you ever watch an ad to retry or to re structure? No to continue.
Generates, as we're looking for knows, the re word I was looking for regenerate. What I don't think I've ever encountered that. Oh, okay. So In addition to watching an ad me every level you can. Also once you die when one of the numerous ways you can die, you can watch an ad to then we generate and continue the devil from where you were a guy rushed. Oh I see I don't think I did that.
I think I just started from the beginning one because like the levels weren't that difficult like to start over from the beginning and the levels aren't that long? Yeah, I was probably gets longer and more difficult as you delve further into Tomb of the man. Mask mask. I got like those two modes, the map mode and the arcade mode I spent a whole bunch of time on the map mode. Only, really tried arcade mode in the last few days. Arcade mode reminds me a lot of balls Rush which was a game.
We play it back in the day. Lots of games. Remind you a choice of balls Rush. Oh, I've got all my think of the week is quite exciting this week. Making your balls. Yeah, so though, I mean, has he kept coming at two games in one really? Lee. And it's, they are actually, different is sort of one being this sort of outrun outrun, the mysterious multicolored wall, and the other one is collect all the gems.
Mmm, nice. Two games for maybe the price of one, if you choose to pay for it, my phone. Good point. If you turn on airplane mode, then there are ads and it's actually kind of fun to play. Yeah. Is that really a good point though? I guess so. Your didn't your crippling the app. It's a It's a well, yeah, intentionally crippling. Like this dog is really good, if you break one of its legs and then stops moving her. Sorry that was horrible bad
analogy like dog to limp. Okay, we now we need the bats. All right. The best wines. Take, take the big fat Peach. Thats hanging over us. Yeah, I do hanging fruit. If you will biggest thing, is that this the monetization is just so gross. Grossly both words of gross. Grossly, done and gross and sickly that. It really took away from my experience of the entire game. Like it things just stopped
being fun and whimsical. And I think even it being like pixelated, normally I find that Charming but it almost made the ads looking for that. I know. Stick out even more. Bianca has the contrast is quite yeah, of quite dry reading is like four bits. And then again, maybe dads are like extra HD for all those candy matching games where he. Yeah. And just a timing of the ads is just all it all seemed like it was all for monetization and that to me just what it's about.
Taste in my mouth but it's a bad taste in my mask. Oh no. Go. Bad breath. You'd suddenly just this recirculating that are trapped in that mask and I see bad in the spacesuit. Never find a space suit. My advice. Surely they have air purifiers built into that harness. Hmm if you know tweet us at seven days to play my bad point, I mean the gameplay is pretty simplistic. There are some parts I've found
fun. The ramp aline's, for example, kind of fun to zoom around little bit, but it's pretty simple and my interested. In after playing a few levels. Yeah, I think is a fine game, but I was not hooked my next bad point after even just playing eight levels of the game. I found the puzzles to be sort of like luster. I guess, I guess there are going to be like more moments where it that builds a little bit more excitement but overall it just seemed like more of the same stuff.
Yeah, that's got a, my feeling to yeah like you gets more and more traps and things but it's the gameplay is still the same and you kind of start to notice the patterns There's only so much I suppose you can do in how the, how you can design a level to get all the coins and put them in a strange place. Then you realize well I didn't go over there Zoom across and then Zoom back again and oh I've got all the coins, right?
That was really bad description. But, you know, I mean like there's oh you see this coin in the middle of a room? No. Oh that's oh, wow. Now, how am I gonna get that? You know. Well, just look for the little decide to have a new yet. One of their, and then you get it. Well, there it is. Yeah. My final bad point is to restart a level after you. Die is just really clumsy. There's you get the resume option. The pops up that goes away. Then you get, I remember what is it?
It's like two or three Taps to resume a level with these like garish yellow. Menus a pop out in your face and it's just very clumsy and go as they try and do a little bit moved. Rqx of the largest button is the one to watch a video. Soup continued, rather than just, we thought the beginning. Our spend 200 coins to gets a shield, which protects you from dying for others.
It meant time, you know, it is, oh, man, is such a just a heavy to restart level and kind of compare that to our racing game best rally. Mmm, which ones are which came best rally. Wait, what? Sorry, can you say that again? Well there was dumped on the side where I didn't get there. Are you confusing me? I don't think we played a game called best rally but that restarting a level was so instance and just kind of just made the game Flow a whole lot more. I know it's game. You're tagging.
My God. And that's not a lie. Okay. Okay, sounds so final 70 ratings, I played it for three days. It was it was pretty short. I played it for three days and I would not recommend it, but at least fair enough I played, it'll be all night. I played five days. Once I worked out the little little trick of turning off all connectivity. To your device made a whole lot more playable. And I would say, yeah, I flew out flic en Flac. It on play a little bit but not
hooks. No, I don't think I will be playing it further to get past level 28. Mmm, and find out. What to the bottom of Tomb of the Mask. Is it the bottom? Or is it the top? I feel like you start at the bottom of this pyramid and you have to go to the top anyway. Yeah, the map doesn't make it clear they belonged here. No, she going to the side. So who knows how far it goes now. We get to choose new game. Yes, please. Sam For the Love of All.
That's holy and good this game, hand-painted me. Well, I think you're in luck. This game has been in the, the game was spheres Zeitgeist, for the past week. It is a game that has been highly anticipated by some indie game developers. Not me because I don't know what that is. It is a game that has been copied by other games because it has been in production for quite a while. Well that is a good sign if it's such a good. Game that people preemptively copy it, unlike 2049 right 324th.
Sure, that one? Yes. In fact, the makers of 2048 has copied this game, I'll catch up. I'll I'll favorites. And this game is yeah, you have seven days to play. Donut County mmm-hmm. Well, that sounds very tasty. It is one of the first few games that I have actually pre-ordered. Alright, Apple App Stores pre-ordering capabilities, which I think is new, I think. Do they do that for?
Mario run, they did that for Mario, run it when we first released it and now they opened up to more people, right? They did it for that. That blades game. Oblivion blades, what is that game? Watch out from the blades. Bet. They're in the shop. Oblivion. No. Oh, yeah. Elder Scrolls blades. Which is goes blades. Yahweh today. Is that possessive. It's the blades. The belong to Elder. Scrolls. The elders. Go. Sorry the Elder Scrolls:. There it is. Not the Elder Scrolls blades
right? Which is confusing to install steal, the Elders, Scroll blades, he's scrolling through blades. What we've been talking about. God, donut County. Yes. So this is has pre-order, which do not which Elder Scrolls blades. Also has the pre-order option.
Yes. And those are one of the first few games that have actually pre-ordered and donut county is and thatís esteemed list of Being able to pre-order because I feel like apple probably has editors that have to look through these games and say, okay, you can be in this list of pre-ordering because we can we can build up the hype and excitement for it, which I believe they did Donald County be a whole be a whole. So let's read the description for donut County. I should have come prepared.
Yeah, so that you're right. Thanks be whole, it's from and it's from the Publishers Annapurna interactive your favorite, they famously did done it. And it. Wait, what's the what was the name of that Florence? Lawrence, how can you get it wrong? So many times? And that is a name like Florence though. I can see that. And that's in the machines down at county is a story based Isaac's puzzle game. Ding ding. Ding where you play as an ever-growing hole in the ground meat cute characters.
Steal their trash and throw them in a hole. I can't tell if the hole is good or bad in this scenario. I think it symbolizes something deeper as you know Annapurna interactive is all about story. Oh no. I'm gonna have to brush the whole teeth by rubbing. My thumb across the screen, you never do holes apartment before my sexy cello playing hipster boyfriend comes over.
All the hall wants to do is wants to live its life, its full potential, maybe even open up an Etsy store, living your best life, you gotta let the whole be a whole. Yeah you play as BK a whole driving raccoon who swallows up his friends and their homes to earn idiotic prizes? When BK falls into one of his own holes? Gotta watch out for that. He's confronted by his best
friend. Mirror and the residents of do not County who are all stuck 99 900 but definitely a number feet underground and they demand answers. So you got your story, you got your arcade mode, you got your puzzly thing. Got the hole in the ground? Yeah, this seems like it's got all the makings of a seven out of seven game for Sam. And it's from Annapurna and interactive both both get their two games that we've reviewed previously from Annapurna, gorgoa, oh, Florence.
So off we go about gorgoa. Yeah, didn't get on with that one either. Okay well doesn't bode well for me, but Sam have a great week. This is 499 and is available on the app store for purchase right now right now and I think is it also on some other platforms to it's available on the PC, okay? Before we go, Sam the other thing of the week I do as, you know, I carry around my Nintendo switch with the custom. Joy Cons with the accustomed Roy cohn's? Yes, my customization isn't that isn't that?
Luxurious. It's mean I was fooled. Hmm. Yeah. So my the customization is just so that the right direction pad which are which initially come in like four different buttons. So it's hard to like, slide your finger across to control people. Yeah. So I just there's a converter that actually changes that into a normal conventional for directional d-pad Right? And the white and the white. Okay. That's what I. So, that's the actual thing, I noticed.
Yeah, very nice. So Dave switch has been coming out with a lot of indie games on the, the eShop on the Nintendo eShop. You shop a shop? Yeah. And we all shop, and I have purchased several of them, and I've been playing them outside of this podcast. Okay. Yeah. Well, I'm a well, I did always a question. I was on a break. His yeah, that's true. Is, which a mobile device on? It's mobile and ways that you can carry with you. Like guess that is literally the definition of mobile.
Okay. Yeah, but it's not mobile, meaning I can't text you with it. That's right. Khan also calls my mother on it tonight. What have you been playing? I've played a little bit of the game that we've been talking about called dead cells, huh? Yeah, how is that? Really, really good? Like yeah, my life vicariously through you. Okay, it's very difficult. However, mmm kind of like Punky. Yes, that is also difficult very much like Spelunky very difficult, you die.
Very quickly. Debts are very painful because you have to start all over thus making it to you real good lucky. Yeah, we're lucky. Speaking of Rogue leakey's. I have been playing another game called flashback. It's not a rogue leaky. It is a very story based game. Not a Segway. If it doesn't make sense. Flashback is originally a game that I first played on the SNES. Oh sliz be punished. We like to say the words Stars. Oh, there's a huge controversy
around NES and nests. Oh and what is the correct pronunciation? Well, what did yo? Shimamoto say the real persons and maybe that's not the dinosaur you mean? Gary Miyamoto. Yeah, yeah, that guy I think it's came out in like some Mega some Japanese magazine that it's pronounced nest soup, which is like the, I guess the, the Western pronunciation of when you read a word in American letters, it's NES, right?
But I don't know why people are considering that to be a fact when different language different language and the game was built for an American audience, you know, demand intend to have In on this recently, toadstools, doesn't he's not wearing a hat. That's his actual head. I forgot, which I forgot - yeah. I forget, which is the authority. Like there was a thing that said, one way or the other like it's either a hat or it's actually part of his head, right?
And now Luigi's did Louise's Dad. Yes. What was even happening, right? Because the guy the death from Castlevania killed him. What's boys happening on? Didn't know what was happening. Yeah, lots of drama happening. But yeah, the flashback is a great story. Based game, very difficult action based. Lots of jumping around, you have to do lots of collecting of items. What's a nice easy game I could play. Um none there will hot if to level up Edwin do overcooked to
yes I don't play that. Yes oh my God I have to guess which aren't I this show is just becoming the journey for me buying a switch. How do we convince Edwin Tobias? Which we get pop G on switch and then Do you need to the thing of the thing of the week will be which game did you play on the switch? What is your thing of the week?
As you know, we actually had 14 days to play our last game and since it was only a five day that left many days, unfilled, and many commutes in which I need to be entertained. So I have been playing some games. What we told you hold down another hole basedgamer boy which is a lot of fun. This is balls. The grown-ups I think we talked about it before maybe on the show. I come every other thing or not, right? I think you might have mentioned
that. Yeah, in that case I have completed it. And I am very happy with it. There is a little write-up about hold down I believe from polygon. Thanks what a great game it is. It has done some business. Yeah, people are excited by it. Sadly, my little twittersphere, but I've completed it. I have mind all the planets made the big holes crack, the core extracted, the crystals. And now I'm done. That's a game. Sounds like a final fantasy narrative. Cross up with balls and you're
pretty close. Oops. But if you are looking for a Mindless, but fun, balls Tile game, but adults at all balls. Hmm. That doesn't sound like yeah. Well, you know, certain Persuasions I've been dabbling in another game, Mars power. Oh, that's another game that actually pre-ordered as well. Well, now it's available so you should have it. Which I'm hmm, not sure how I feel about it. Yeah. Interesting. Is it but it's quite I don't get it.
I got it because it reminds me of the game that I was planning to build about being a Demolition. Man, setting charges to write demolition parts of a building But here you have to set electric power. Grids to power your Colony on Mars. Yeah, with strange red spikes are come out in ways. I can't understand. Yeah. It's I played a little bit as well and I think I'm unlike level 8 actually I'm on year 12 year 8. Okay yeah it's it's interesting. I think there's something there.
I just feel like the game is very bare-bones currently like there was no starting thing, it just starts like the game just starts kind of like yeah. Yeah, but also, yeah, why does Spikes up here? I just don't quite understand it. So I was, like, what is happening here? Which means, which means, like things there is a mechanic there. I can only build on Blue plants. Yeah. Soon the plants and they can't really explain it through story yet because they haven't had the time to build it.
I think I think that's the thing that I think more polished games actually have more time to do. Like they are able to craft certain narratives around things, right or have more time to consider. Like why are what are these spikes? What are the motivation for these spikes? Why do they want to stick out of the ground on some terms, and then not on others? But that's it. I'm kind of enjoying it.
Maybe we'll check in next week, and see how we getting on as our bonus game of the week in bonus - game both by happenstance happen to be playing. And I'm still playing toy blast you. There's the latest color matching game. Oh boy. Oh that game. Yep. Just as dumb as Jules Bejeweled Blitz. And Two dots and all your favorites was the other one. Candy Crush. You can brush but I'm on level 178 have a problems. Yeah, that doesn't seem like.
Anyway, this is why we have this show to, to broaden your horizons on the gaming buttons, embarrassed replaying. This wall multicolored horror show on the subway laughs I do have another thing of the week I've been watching is permitted. Okay, thank you. I've been watching on Netflix show called disenchantment. Which is Matt Groening 's new Venture into cartooning or creating a cartoon.
I've heard he has had some success in the past so he's created some shows if you don't know who he is like Simpsons, which I believe is still running. Yeah. Well, it's amazing Futurama, which is a vastly popular show, cultish following and then got revived for new seasons on Netflix and now it's disenchantment. So Simpsons is sort of present-day Futurama, what sort of future and this Chapman is set in times that in olden times, okay?
With knights and castles and dragons and hmm so I'm not enticed by that. Just as a super simple premise but I could be wrong. Yeah, I think it's pretty interesting. The main character is voiced by a bee Jacobson. Oh, I'm aboard then. Yeah, it was paper from Broad City, right? Which is your favorite sort of really fits the character because she's essentially her from Broad City in disenchantment. Aunt will tell you also weren't in an elevator. Once I saw her in Union Square.
Oh, get out of here. Yeah, she was filming a promo. Yeah, I saw in the elevator at the our subway. Stop on Court Street. Nice. Did you say hi? No. Not okay. I didn't say hi there. We want me to say it seemed like she was gonna get upset. If I bothered her, what are you, what are you going to say to any celebrity or just be like me and pretend like you're their friends and say, hey, what's up? Well, like I did to Joshua Jackson and Owen Wilson When I saw them in the subway.
Yeah, I saw Tony Wilson and I just my mission, my immediate thought was like, oh, I know this guy should say hi and I was like, Hey and he's like oh hi. That was my, that's my uncle's be totally forget about. The the recognition imbalance is using on screen. Suddenly, they're there in front of you, my oh, hey, who is this? We must get that all the time and that's our show for this week. Are you enjoying disenchantment? I meant, I am someone enjoying
it? I think there is a deeper story that's going to be somewhat enjoying okay well the potential. Yeah so this enchantment is less like episodic, you know, like most cartoons like Futurama and Simpsons reset, right? But yeah. So yeah, yeah. This one just sort of goes on, which is great. Okay, no longer narrative. Mmm, that's it story. Reaches, seven Graves Honor on The Daily story, arches, with the golden arches. This is how I consume my media and food and that's our show.
