Epsiode 217: 5 Daily Non Negotatables

===

Brandi: [00:00:00] Have you ever wondered what small daily habits could transform your business or personal life? Or maybe you've heard people say like, have this miracle morning, or here's what I do in the morning. And you're like, that does not work with my life. Well, today I'm taking you behind the curtains to share my five daily non negotiables that have made all the difference.

And not only my life, but my business. And these do not have to be done in the morning. Before kids wake up, before the sun wakes up, it can be done at any point in the day. And we're not talking about minor tweaks to my life and business. We're talking about game changers that have helped me thrive.

This year, not just survive, but literally thrive. And it's not only helped me thrive in my business, but it's helped me thrive in my personal life and my family and every [00:01:00] aspect of my business. And it's only five small things that I do every single day that are so simple, but consistent

And who knows, by the end of this episode, I might just inspire you to shake up your daily routine with a few non negotiables of your own. So if you're ready to do the dang thing, let's jump into this week's episode.

Welcome back to the Serve Scale Soar podcast, the go to place. If you want to start grow or scale your ad management business, I'm Brandi Mowles. And today I'm taking you behind the scenes to chat about my five daily non negotiables that have been a game changer for me since I've implemented this. And so I'm excited to [00:02:00] take you and share with you what the five things I do every single day.

Or let's be honest, I try to do every single day. They don't happen all the time, but they happen 98 percent of the time. I'm very committed to these five daily non negotiables. And since implementing them, my I'm seeing our business grow and I'm seeing myself grow. And so I want that for each and every single one of you.

I want your business to grow. I want you to feel like you're growing as a person. I want you to feel like you're growing as a entrepreneur and do that with ease. And having five daily non negotiables takes away the long to do list and it makes certain things a priority. And as we go through these, I want to make sure that you feel empowered to create your own five daily non negotiables.

If you want to start with mine, go ahead. That's [00:03:00] totally fine. Do it and then innovate as you go. But the big thing is just making these a habit. And you'll see they're nothing too crazy and they're easy. And you may be thinking, how can these things that seem so trivial be making such a difference?

It's about a holistic approach where I'm not just focused on my business. I'm not just focused on my personal life. I'm focused on how from a holistic approach of me taking care of myself, me taking care of my family. and me taking care of my business all works together. And so let's dive in to the five daily non negotiables.

And before we jump in and I share my five with you, I want to tell you how these came about. So I was reading the book by Dan Martell buy back your time. You probably heard me talk about this on our quarter one book reading list and

we'll make sure to link that episode up in the show notes so you can [00:04:00] access that one and go back to listen to what books I've been reading because you're going to see that the five daily non negotiables reading books plays into a big part. So I started reading this book that came highly recommended to me and then I started checking out Dan's content.

And I was like, okay, let's see. And I saw this five daily non negotiables. I'm not sure if I saw it through, heard about it on his podcast, or if I read it in the book. I'm not sure where it came from, but the idea stuck with me and anyone who's done hard 75, I think that's what it's called. It's like those, but a little bit different.

I think that's where he got the idea from. But I'm not someone who's going to do hard 75, but maybe, maybe, I don't want to say never. But anyways I heard this and I was like, Oh, this is like good. This makes sense to me. This could work. And at first one of his was 45 minutes of [00:05:00] sweat. That was it. And I was like, I don't know if I want to sweat every day.

Like literally when my coach, I work with a health coach. When she asked me, what type of exercises do you like to do? I was like the ones that don't require me to sweat. Cause I don't want to have to do my hair. So yes, I'm totally that person. And so when he said 45 minutes of sweat every day, I was like, Oh, that sounds awful.

Like I do not want to sweat every day. I live in Florida. We just sweat by like living. And so yeah. I heard what he said and I was like, you know what, I'm going to see if I can apply this to my life. And I took some of them that he did and I did those for a while and then I rotated the ones that I needed in and rotated out the ones that weren't serving me.

So it took me a few months to like really dial this in and since really dialing it in, I've seen, and even before dialing it in, I was seeing results and I was like, dang. [00:06:00] The daily habits make all the difference, all the difference. And so what I want you to know is maybe you run with mine and then you find Ooh, that one does not work for me.

Or I need to change that one out. And you go in and change it out. But one of the cool things is Dan gave one suggestion that was already podcast is always been one of my top priorities. And that's when you hear it, the five conversations. This is marketing minutes, y'all I've been preaching this for five years.

And so I'm excited when I saw that, I think that's the thing that really was like, Oh, I can do this because one of the things he was telling me to do, I was already doing. So maybe add one habit that you're already doing that is serving you really, really well. And innovate, make these yours, but the thing is having five that you are committed to.

Like I said, they don't happen all the time, but they do happen 98 percent of the time. And I don't focus on these necessarily on the weekend. [00:07:00] Like I'm not checking them off of my asana task on the weekend. But. They are like just incorporated into my life now. So a lot of them do happen on the weekends Okay, so let's jump in because I know y'all are like wait brittany.

What are your five daily non negotiables? Okay, so the first one is 45 minutes of movement So when dan told me it was 45 minutes of sweat and I was like that sounds awful I changed it to 45 minutes of of movement. Some days for me, that means going out on a 45 minute walk. Or getting on the treadmill during a coaching call that I don't necessarily have to be on camera for, or even if I am on camera, I'll turn on my camera and walk on the treadmill channel.

45 minutes to really get in those steps and move my body. We are in front of the computer so much with our business, it is so important to get up and move. And so I really like to go outside, especially since we live in Florida, so pretty much all year, it's nice. [00:08:00] It's getting a little toasty now, but we've incorporated into midday breaks, so if I need just to get out and get out of my office, because I've been sitting in front of the computer all day.

I'll incorporate it there. I'll also incorporate it after dinner. We usually do after dinner walks every night now that gets it in. If I wasn't able to during the day. And then I am truly getting in 30 to 45 minutes of sweat five days per week. So this has been, but I started small. It was just like, how can I go on more walks?

How can I get out for 45 minutes and walk? And now it's been like, Oh, Let me jump on the bike, Peloton bike again for 45 minutes. Let me get on the bike for 45 minutes. Let me do 30 minutes of strength training. And it started out with 45 minutes of walking every day. And then it was like, okay, 45 minutes of walking plus maybe two days a week of working out.

And now 30 45 minutes [00:09:00] of walking plus 5 days a week of working out. And these habits start small and then they can grow. And with that, as I'm recording this, I just had a really fun milestone this morning. Since having Bodhi, and I gained 44 pounds with Bodhi, and if you're a mom, And I don't want to say if you're a mom, cause this doesn't happen to most, but I know like a lot of moms I talk to, your body's never the same after having a baby.

And for some reason in my head, I just thought that like my body wasn't going to change as much with the second. And that was not true. Like I was like, my hips have already expanded. They are not going to expand anymore. And and with Bodhi I breastfed and my body's just different and that's okay.

But since having Bodhi, I. Have lost 60 pounds as of today, which is really exciting because I only gained 44 with him. And it's not, I am watching my nutrition. I will say that I'm watching my nutrition, but I still go out on the [00:10:00] weekends and eat a donut and I still enjoy my life. I still get to have Mexican on Tuesdays, taco Tuesday.

Like I'm not giving that up, but also having this 45 minutes of movement has made a massive. Difference in the way I show up on camera, the way I show up for my family. The photos that I'm in, like we used to go to Disney and I'd be the person behind the camera and now I'm like jumping in and taking the photos with my family.

I'm showing up on my lives different. I get up and I put on like clothes that haven't fit in years. And so these little habits, I'm not saying this to brag or anything, but these little habits change our life and our business. And that's what I want you to know is it's taking care of me. Has changed the way I show up for my family also changes the way I show up for my business the way I show Up for my business if that change for the positive They don't change my family for the positive [00:11:00] because when I can help other people be more successful Then it helps me be more successful that then helps my family have more choices and it's this ripple effect but it starts with 45 minutes of movement for me.

And I made it manageable and doable. And then I built on it from there, but it's still just 45 minutes of movement. When Bodi was sick, I wasn't getting the workouts that I would usually do because my routine had changed but I was still getting those walks in and so it's not I've been learning, it's not the all or nothing mentality that serves us, it's just consistency.

And how can we have little wins daily that add up to big victories? Number one, 45 minutes of movement. My second one is post on social. Y'all know for a long time I was like, social sucks. I'm not posting on social. I [00:12:00] still think organic social sucks. Things can go much faster with ads. But, the difference is, I say that, but when we see our leads and our numbers and my one on one services that have grown, it's because my Instagram and it's because I've been really committed to showing up there and testing new things.

If you go to my Instagram now, it's all memes, which is so different than what it was even, eight months ago. But I'm consistently showing up whether it's stories or a post Monday through Friday My goal is to get one story up every single day in one post either a real or a post Usually it's a real because those are actually quicker for me to get up than a post and it's how do we bring new people?

into my audience that feeds in and I will be back in a couple of weeks with a new post and we'll be talking about that. for tuning in to my third non negotiable, but that is something I've been consistent with and it's not getting up the most perfect things. It's not getting up the prettiest things.

It's just [00:13:00] getting something out and seeing how it works. Some of them are complete flop. Some of them do really well and it's just playing around, but I set a 15 minute timer and within that 15 minutes, I have to have a post out, so it's not taking a lot of my time and I do it every single morning. I just, it's part of my five daily non negotiables.

So it's okay, let's jump on here. Some days I can batch out the whole week and I'll set an hour timer and within that hour I got to get five reels done and I'll do it that way and then just have them to go. Sometimes it's like on the fly and I don't tell you 99 percent of the time I'm making them that morning.

But that's a daily non negotiable is post on social. It's getting seen. It's more visibility. And for me, that social isn't on all the platforms. It's Instagram. That's my focus. Okay. Which feeds in, you will see why this feeds in to my third non negotiable, which is five daily conversations. [00:14:00] So inside conversions for clients and the society, we talk about the five and 30.

So I'm going to go ahead and talk about the five and 30. So the five and 30 is five conversations daily to keep your marketing minutes up. And you can do this through different platforms and we teach all the platforms, but my specific one is on Instagram, which means I have to post content. Then people follow me and then, or I'll say DM me for this word.

And then when they do that, And then I'm like, okay, let's have a conversation. Can I help you? Am I in a place where your business, where are you in a place where you need me? And am I in a place in my business where I can support you? Whether that's in conversions for clients through our certification or in the society or maybe you are a six figure, seven figure business owner and you want to work with me one on one.

Can I support you? And if I can, what level can I [00:15:00] support you in? Okay. So creating five daily conversations with people with the intention of building relationships, how can I serve them, and then do they fit into one of our programs, yes or no. So those five conversations, sometimes I have three, sometimes I have five, sometimes I have ten, it really depends.

Another one that we've really focused on is after we do, we've been doing monthly brainstorms where it's like super low key. I love these no slides. I draw on my iPad, really cool trainings. And then we pitch one of our programs and it's been cool because it's small. We don't promote it with ads. It's just to our email list.

We don't, we give a replay. There's no long sell sequence. It's Hey, sign up. Now we have some special bonuses for you if you sign up. And then that's it. It's over and it's so easy and it's fun because I get to serve and teach but then also Afterwards I'm following up with every single person who showed up live I literally have a [00:16:00] list and I will personally send them a text email or DM and be like hey, thanks for coming It was so great having you and ask them more about their business So I love those trainings.

And that's another way to have conversations. Another way to have conversations is if I'm having people that want me on their podcast or JV partnerships. So making it a daily habit to have conversations that will ultimately lead to new relationships, new leads, new buyers. Okay. So 45 minutes of movement.

Post on social. Five daily conversations. Number four is journal or meditate. This was one that I pulled out that I knew that needed to be. There was something else in here and the funny thing is I can't even remember what it was, but for me, I needed to make sure that journaling and meditating And I like to do a lot of video because I want to make [00:17:00] sure that the sound is in there.

Because I get lost sometimes in the doing, the vision, the like go, go, go. And sometimes I need to slow down to remember why we're doing this, or to take a moment for me. I need to calm my nervous system. And so one of my morning routines is currently I'm doing a sound therapy. And you have to work with a therapist to do it.

And it's music. I just sit there with my headphones on in my office and it's music and it's five to 10 minutes and it helps regulate your nervous system. And it's been really, really helpful. And I've only been doing it for a month now. And for me, it's been a game changer because since having Bode, my cortisol levels have definitely been higher where I'm just like on almost like eggshells.

And so since doing this it's really, really helped calm my nervous system and I'm showing up as a better mom, as a [00:18:00] better wife, as a better business owner. And so that's been helpful for me. I also meditate at night before I go to bed so I can sleep better. And my wonderful coach, James Wedmore, he sent all of us in his mastermind, these amazing journals, They have our year goal on it, and my next goal is $2 million for the year.

And it may happen this year. It may happen next year. Whenever it happens, it happens, but that's what we're working for. And the $2 million Journal has different prompts for each day about how a $2 million owner would show up, what would they track, what would they do? Because you have to start becoming the business the person you want.

Before you ever will get it. And so those journal prompts have been really, really powerful. So as soon as I come into my office, I'm doing my meditation or my sound therapy, and then I'm spending time journaling that takes about 20 [00:19:00] minutes when I first get started. My day or in I would say 20, but it's really between 10 and 20 because some days my sounds only five And then the journaling takes another five So it's not a big portion of my day 10 to 20 minutes can make all the difference And those two things have been super super beneficial for me is journaling So that's definitely on there.

And like I said, sometimes both of them don't happen. Sometimes it's just the journal. Sometimes it's just meditating at night. But I am focused on getting ideally journal and meditation in. But just one or the other. Five daily non negotiables. Remember, I want to start small. And when often. So if I can just say if I get one of these, it's a good day.

If I get both of them, it's a great freaking day. So I'm giving myself some leeway to continue to win. Okay. So my last non negotiable, and I think this one's from hard 75 too. And this [00:20:00] is a Dan one is read 10 pages of nonfiction. And in 2023, I definitely got away from reading and I'm going to give myself some grace.

I'm a newborn. And I just it wasn't a priority. I didn't find time. And I am obsessed with I'm obsessed with reading now, and I got a Kindle. I was very against a Kindle. If you go back and listen to that quarter one book, I like holding a book. I like the way books look in my office, but honestly, I love the Kindle way more.

I thought I wouldn't. So now I have this really toxic trait. Oh my God. If you want to know a toxic trait, I like the look of books. my office I really like it and I like to see the cover and everything. So what I'll do is I'll buy the book on Amazon, and then I also buy the Kindle, and my husband is oh my God, Brandi, this is this was supposed to save us money, and now it's actually doubling our money.

So he's using a Kindle too, [00:21:00] but reading ten pages of nonfiction, I, See ya. I'm just like, Oh my gosh, I forgot how much reading just opens up your expansiveness to receive more. And so by that, what I mean is when I'm reading, sometimes I like zone out of what I'm reading and ideas just start flowing that have nothing to do with the book that I'm reading.

Or I may get one concept and be like, Oh, I love this book just for this. Or I may read the book and I'm like, wow, this is garbage. I hope never to share this type of information or just like simple ideas. Ooh, that's cool. But what if I did it like this? And it's just opened me up in my creativity to so many things.

And so I'm really excited. I think the other thing is I do my reading at night before bed and with that being said, it means also that the TV gets turned off in our room. And [00:22:00] so instead of going to bed with the last thing being the TV, which isn't great for our brains, it's now I'm reading. So I'm sleeping better.

So it all flows together, but I've really enjoyed that. So that is my five daily non negotiables, 45 minutes of movement, post on social. 10 pages of nonfiction. and I'm going to have five daily conversations, journal or meditate or both, and read 10 pages of nonfiction. So the post on social doesn't usually happen on the weekends.

The conversations does not happen on the weekends. But 45 minutes of movement does. Journal and meditating I don't usually journal, but I'll still meditate on the weekends. And then reading 10 pages definitely happens. So you can see I have a system You It gets done 90 percent of the time, and it's something I'm really committed to.

So if this is something that you think would change the way you show up for yourself, for your family and your business, maybe start implementing it. And if you want to start with my five daily non negotiables, go for it. If you want to start with four of them and add five [00:23:00] Go for it. I just want you to find consistency and habits in your business that I know are going to change the way you show up, that are going to change the way you run your business, that are going to change the way you live your life.

And that's what these have done for me. They're in my Asana task every single day. It's a reoccurring task. It comes up because remember, if it doesn't have a date, it doesn't get done. So I hope you implement these and I would love to hear from you on Instagram. Help me with my five daily conversations, y'all.

I would love to hear from you on Instagram. Seriously. And tell me, what are your five daily non negotiables? Tell me what you got from this episode. So if you're going to do the dang thing, set your five daily non negotiables, head to at Brandy Mals on Instagram and let me know what are your five daily non negotiables?

What are you working with? And I cannot wait to see how you change your life and business by adding these. Okay, my friends until next week, go out, serve [00:24:00] your clients, scale your business and soar into the success you deserve.
