The Very Rev. Ian Markham, Ph.D. is the Dean and President and Professor of Theology and Ethics at Virginia Theological Seminary. Sermon is a portion of original sermon given by Rev. William Douglas delivered May 30, 1773 at Beaverdam Episcopal Church in what is now Maidens, VA. The Rev. William Douglas served as a transitional figure from the Colonial Anglican Church to the Virginia Episcopal Church and set the stage for the reforms in doctrine preached by William Meade and others.
