Episode description

Inbound marketing is about creating content and distributing it through various channels such as social media and email campaigns to attract, convert, and build lifetime value from prospects before they ever enter the sales funnel, while outbound marketing reaches out to target audiences with direct communication, even if leads are not yet interested in hearing more.

Inbound marketing strives to generate leads through various means of content delivery such as blog posts, ebooks, case studies, infographics, webinars, and more. Outbound tactics focus on gathering contact information or addressing immediate buying needs with phone calls, email blasts, sales force automation, and more.

Inbound marketing is more about drawing leads to you. It’s not about what channels to use, it’s about how to craft the message and content. Outbound marketing is focused on push rather than pull. It's more about advertising (like Google AdWords), traditional media relations (radio, television, newspaper, magazines), public speaking, etc. So inbound is using content and social channels to draw people in like a magnet while outbound is more like blasting out a message.
