Hello and welcome to . Seo is not that hard . I'm your host , ed Dawson , the founder of KeyWordsPeopleUsecom , the solution to finding the questions people ask online . In today's episode , I'm going to cover the news of even more Google updates rolling out right now and some new features we've added to KeyWordsPeopleUsecom .
I just wanted to stop today by touching on the news at the moment that we've got more Google Core updates and spam updates running , which have come hot on the heels of the recent Google Helpful Content update , which makes life interesting , to say the least , for many people in SEO .
So the Helpful Content update , just to recap , that started on the 14th September and ran till about the 28th September , and just as people were getting used to the changes that that had brought along to their traffic , the Google then released an October 2023 spam update on the 4th of October and the October 2023 core update on the 5th of October .
Both of those last two are still running and this makes it especially hard at the moment to see what changes are happening on that you make to your site and how they're affecting your SEO .
I always try during these updates not to make any major changes to any of my sites , because you just can't really judge whether the things you've done have had an effect , based on any positive moves that you've done or any negative moves that you've done , or whether it's stuff that's caused by any of these updates .
Now , these last two the spam update I've not heard many people complaining about that . I think if that is probably one where it's only if you're doing something really dodgy that's going to affect you and it seems to be mainly targeted at languages other than English .
The core update I've seen some people who had been hit by the Helpful Content update hoping that this was going to be a point where they might recover some of their traffic , but I'm not really seeing that from any of the reports I'm seeing .
In fact , some people are saying that their traffic is just getting lower and lower and lower and going almost zero from Google .
So you know , I think my advice in during these updates would be to really just sit and wait them out and then , when the updates are finished rolling out , take your time to see what experiences other people have had and see if there's anything that you can see there's any kind of consensus that starts to be drawn on the kind of changes you need to make to
recover from these updates . We've got a full episode you look for episode eight of SEO is not that hard . I cover in depth how I handle core updates , the experiences I've had of recovering from incredibly negative experiences we've had with core updates back in the day , and just yet in depth .
So look for episode eight and then there's more about how to deal with it . In other news , on keywords , people use dot com . We now have a new functionality to save , edit and update articles .
Now there's been a few places on site already where you could previously generate AI articles based up on the keywords the questions that we found within certain sections for you . But previously you obviously had to just copy and paste that text out of the browser and then edit either in a Word document or any other kind of editor that you used .
But obviously that wasn't perfect . We know that because we need people who generate an article and then not copy it out and then obviously it would last forever . So what we now have is you'll see when you log into any account whether it's a free account , one of the paid accounts .
In the menu at the top there'll be an article section and this is where any articles you create within any of our searches will now be saved . Now , the articles that get saved if there's any any part of the site where you see a generate article button if you generate articles using that button , it will then get saved into your articles menu .
So the places where that is are if you do a people or so ask , search , and then get the topic clusters , which will cluster all those questions into topical clusters and you can then generate an article for each cluster .
The second place that you can create articles from is a Google to complete query and then , once it's run , you click the topic clusters tab , which will cluster all the keywords found into the logical clusters . You can then generate an article from each one of those clusters .
And finally , the last current place that you can go to create one is the AI Assistant , where the template article with FAQs . If you generate an FAQ there , that FAQ will then be saved into your articles list . Now there are other places that we're gonna look . We're looking to put in article generation . So this list will expand over time .
So just look out for those generate article buttons . They're really great for creating AI content based on these real keywords , these real questions people are actually asking which creates some great content .
Now , obviously , with any AI generated content , you want to be able to fact check it , sense check it and edit it just to bring that human touch to it , because straight AI content , as we know , isn't always the greatest . It's improving all the time . But I would still say , always read , fact check , sense check , proof check all AI content .
And you can do that by going to the articles menu and clicking articles . That will bring up all the articles that you've got saved and if you just have to click on one of those to edit it , and we've got a full editor in here so you can put in all your H1 , tags , h2 , h3 , h4 , et cetera .
You can sort your paragraphs out , you can do bold , telecom line , all that kind of thing , put in ordered lists on ordered lists , links , all that kind of thing , and you can then download in either HTML format or markdown , whichever suits your purposes the best .
So you know you've now got full control over how to edit the look and feel of these articles and then , yeah , get them in the format that works best for you . We have loads more planned for articles and AI in general within Keywords People Use . So you know . Do watch this place .
