In this our Jubilee episode we turn our focus on to the prized skill of handling tricky conversations or difficult dynamics that can emerge in our working relationships.  Of the past 3,400 years, humans have been entirely at peace for 268 of them – just 8% of recorded history. The concept of conflict means different things to different people and is an everyday part of our lives rather than an individual failing.  Often it is fear of conflict that can hinder our ability to handle tricky or sensitive topics -which can make matters worse as situations can fester over time.  In this episode we discuss practical word patterns and conversation starters that help to deal with conflict either in planned or unplanned situations.  It can be more tricky when disagreements arise with colleagues with whom we work with everyday,  compared with patients, customers, clients or other stakeholders where interactions may be intense but temporary.
