The Fox Sisters, Davenport Brothers, and Mina Crandon the Blonde Witch of Lime Street all rose in supernatural fame. The magician Harry Houdini investigated the practice as a hoax, altering his friendship with spiritualist adherent Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the process.
