Episode description

Drama heightens in the exaggerated, fantastical tragi-comedy that is Esther. After a moment of reluctance, Esther rises to the occasion to successfully execute a plan to protect her people (and literally execute - on a 75-foot-high stake - the enemy of her people…). Speaking the language of the powerful, following every royal protocol, and understanding how both laws and egos work, Esther drives the plot of this raucous, fictional narrative. A minority gender of a minority people in the grips of an oppressive empire becomes the unlikely hero when she expertly wields the power of her positionality in relation to the king.
