Episode description

RNLI - Personal Life Lessons and Remembering the Ultimate Cost: In this programme we pay a visit to an Open Day at the Dún Laoghaire RNLI and we feature Mark McGibney, one of the youngest RNLI coxswains. Mark recounts some of the 'shouts' from the less serious to the one that has most deeply affected him and caused him to pause and think about his own life. We also hear from Stephen Wynn, Dún Laoghaire's RNLI Operations Manager about the greatest loss of life to a lifeboat crew which occurred on Christmas Eve back in 1895 when 15 brave lifeboat men perished in stormy seas as they attempted to rescue the crew from a stricken vessel, just off Dún Laoghaire.
