Transcript Speaker 1: Jesus said to his disciples, no one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is June 20th, 2026, Saturday of the 11th week in Ordinary Time. I'll be providing the reflection for today's episode. My name is Elizabeth and I'm the producer and host of Scripture for your inner Outcasts. Hello everyone. Happy Saturday. Good to be back with you. Today. I want to talk about a big topic of idolatry. So of course, the first commandment says we should love our God above all other gods, thus prohibiting idolatry. And I think sometimes it's really easy to read Sacred Scripture and say, I don't worship Beelzebub, I don't worship Baal. I don't have a golden calf in my bedroom. Uh. Of course, I'm not committing idolatry. But when we think of ourselves as a multiplicity of personalities, as a, a group of parts that make up our entire internal family system. And when we think of ourselves as not just a single personality, I suspect that all of us have at least one part in us that is worshiping something that is not God, and thus committing idolatry, even though it might not be obvious. Speaker 1: So the reason I bring this up is because in today's gospel in Matthew chapter six, verse 24, Jesus said to his disciples, no one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. And so with this verse and this intro in mind, if you manage your parts, who are listening will allow me. I'd like to speak to the exiled parts or the inner outcasts in your system right now. So to inner outcast, I would ask the question, do you know that God exists? Do you know that he loves you and he alone is worthy of worship? Do you even know what worship is? If you don't know those things, then I might challenge you to seek out your innermost self or even seek out the help of your manager parts, because your manager parts are there to protect you. They really want what's best for you. So maybe ask your manager parts, or ask your innermost self to teach you about God, and to teach you about how he loves you and to teach you about what worship is. Speaker 1: And the gospel today, Jesus says that you can't serve two masters. You'll either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. So I would ask you, the inner outcasts who might be listening to this episode right now. Who is your master? Who is your master? Do you have the same master as the other parts in your system? Do you have the same master as your innermost self? Or is it something different? Are you serving another part? Are you serving a person outside of your system? Do you feel so desperate for your parents affection and approval that you're unaware that your primary parents are God the Father in heaven and Mary our mother in heaven? Are you devoted to an idea of being recognized or being famous, or being understood to the point that those desires become idolatrous? I just offer these questions for reflection, and I hope that they bear fruit. For more on the topic of idolatry, check out the link in the description of today's episode. With that, we'll end with our invocations. Our Lady, our mother, Untier of knots. Pray for us, Saint Joseph. Pray for us. Saint John the Baptist pray for us.
