Transcript Speaker 1: But you be self possessed in all circumstances. Put up with hardship, perform the work of an evangelist. Fulfill your ministry. Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is June 6th, 2026, Saturday of the ninth week in Ordinary Time. I'll be providing the reflection for today's episode. My name is Elizabeth and I'm the producer and host of Scripture for your inner Outcast. Hello everyone, and happy Saturday. It's good to be with you again today. I'd like to read from the first reading, from the second letter to Timothy chapter four. But you be self-possessed in all circumstances. Put up with hardship, perform the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. So the word that strikes me in these verses is self-possessed. Be self-possessed in all circumstances. Now, if you're familiar with IFS and internal family systems, you know that we each have an innermost self, which is the place in us that cannot be burdened, the place that acts from the eight C's calmness, curiosity, confidence. Creativity. Clarity, compassion, connectedness, and caring. And so now I'd like to speak to any of the exiled parts who are listening to this podcast right now and let you know that you do, in fact, have an innermost self. Speaker 1: As Saint Paul instructs in this letter in Scripture, it is in fact possible to be self-possessed. And what does it mean to be self-possessed? It means to not be burdened. It is possible to not feel anxious or depressed or consumed by whatever burden you're carrying, and your innermost self wants to love you. See, if you can reach your innermost self, he or she is waiting there to love you. Just reach out and ask internally for your innermost self to show up for you. If you're enjoying the content of this podcast, if you're a Catholic who wants to deepen their human formation, then the resilient Catholics community might be a good fit for you. We're accepting applications for the most recent cohort, named after Saint Mary Magdalene, from June 1st to June 30th, 2026. Learn more in the description of today's episode. With that, we'll end with our invocations. Our Lady, our mother, Untier of knots. Pray for us, Saint Joseph, pray for us. Saint John the Baptist, pray for us.
