265 How Questions Bring Deeper Relationship

Transcript Speaker 1: Jesus said to them, I shall ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Was John's baptism of heavenly or of human origin? Answer me! Speaker 2: Welcome to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is May 30th, 2026. Saturday of the eighth week in Ordinary Time. Today we are joined by Pam Malinoski, the integrator for Souls and Hearts. Speaker 1: Today's gospel is from Mark chapter 11 verse 27 to 33. Jesus and his disciples returned once more to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple area, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders approached him and said to him, by what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do them? Jesus said to them, I shall ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Was John's baptism of heavenly or of human origin? Answer me! They discussed this among themselves and said, if we say of heavenly origin, he will say, then why do you not believe him? But shall we say of human origin? They feared the crowd, for they all thought John really was a prophet. So they said to Jesus in reply, we do not know. Then Jesus said to them, neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things. As I reflected on today's gospel, I was struck by how Jesus answered the questions of the chief priests with other questions. And I began to think about how important questions are to every relationship. As exiles, you probably don't answer or ask questions very often. I'm guessing for the most part, your protectors tend to tuck you away in an effort to keep you safe by telling you to be quiet, stay hidden, and not to react. Speaker 1: They don't ask questions. They give you commands. And as exiles, you probably most often just obey. You gather up your burdens. You stay beneath the surface. You stay silent as your managers and forward facing protectors go about the day, excelling in your career, caring for others, and being a good Catholic. You are rarely acknowledged at all. No one seems to care enough to ask you questions. However, questions are key to greater interior integration because they help you get to know your innermost self and your protectors, and for them to get to know you. Questions break down silos so you can work as part of an integrated system, not each part working in an agenda driven, disconnected way. So when it feels right and good, take the time to ask questions and answer questions of your innermost self. Self is ready and willing to listen and can help facilitate these question and answer sessions among all your parts. In doing so, you can learn the stories of your parts and they of you. This relationship building and trust building investment leads to greater interior integration, helping you not only love and appreciate yourself and your parts, but also to radiate that love outward to neighbor and upward to God.
