Speaker 1: May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what the hope is that belongs to his call. What are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones? And what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe according to his great might?
Speaker 2: Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. It's Thursday, May 14th, 2026, the feast of the Ascension and the Feast of Saint Matthias. Today we are joined by Peter Evans, a wife and mother, and the founder of Ascension Life Center, a pregnancy resource center in Albury, Australia.
Speaker 1: A reading from Ephesians, verses 17 to 20. May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what the hope is that belongs to his call. What are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones? And what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe according to his great might? As you ponder these words, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, whether you might consider the eye of your heart as the innermost self, and the idea that enlightenment and hope come through the innermost self to parts with permission, I would like to speak and to offer this hope directly to exiles who might feel overlooked, lonely, or isolated. Many times you may have felt trapped in dark places because of the experiences that you have suffered. You may have felt hopeless, as if nothing can change due to the burdens you carry. Often because you are young. You may have felt like you didn't have the resources you needed to draw on, and you may not know the hope to which he, God is calling you. Because between you and your innermost self, there are protectors guarding you from any further hurt, but they can also be occluding the light of hope.
Speaker 1: My exiled parts did not feel lovable. They felt isolated and rejected, lost and abandoned. As a result, I had strong protectors. A protector. Part that worked hard to earn love. A mirror part that compares myself to the best aspect of everyone else, and a self soothing soother part that seeks pleasure when she is in need of connection and rest. I continue to work with these protectors so that the light can reach reach my exiled parts. Transformation is possible. Hope is a virtue offered to all parts, particularly you exiles who feel weighed down by the heavy beliefs and experiences that you carry. In simple terms, hope is the assurance that good things will come your way. Something more than just wishful thinking. In a deeper sense, it is a joyful expectation that Jesus loves you and is calling you. He stoops down to your littleness with infinite gentleness and compassion. Exiles you may not yet know or trust in Jesus or God the Father's presence, but through connection with the innermost self, the eye of the heart, you will discover the riches of glory to which he is calling you.
