Episode description

For the first time on Scripture First, we welcome Luther House of Study's newest professor, Nick Hopman, to the podcast to discuss a passage in Luke where Jesus heals a woman of a spirit that had crippled her for 18 years.

The leader of the synagogue takes issue with Jesus' actions because he healed her on the sabbath.

Nick breaks down what is the law, how Jesus' Word brings a permanent end to the law, and how the law isn't replaced with a new law but with faith in Christ.

Kiri, Adam and Mason ask:

  • How do you praise God?
  • Why is it "bad" that Jesus healed on the sabbath?
  • What does it mean to be put to shame?
