What's up Jam Family? You're tuning in once again to Shecky's Jam Bands, the place we dive deep into the story, the sound, and the groove of bands you should know. Whether they're legends or rising heavy hitters, today we're shining the spotlight on a southern Florida bred outfit that's been quietly building major momentum in this jam circuit, and they're called tanned.

That's T -A -N -D. Tanned form around 2017 in South Florida, rooted in Boca Raton and the regional scene where late night sets, jam nights, and cross -genre blending are the norm. The lineup features Taylor Godsey on guitar and vocals, Daryl Jared Wolf on keys, Tyler Walker on bass and vocals, and Harley Galino on drums. They started off playing at local clubs shaping their live sound and building that loyal following through high energy shows and improvisational

leanings. When you ask about the name Tanned, they keep it simple. It's short, memorable, and a little cryptic. And that enigmatic energy fits their vibe. Groove driven, free flowing, and always moving. TAN music sits at the intersection of rock, funk, and jam band improvisation. They're not the classic fish touring all festivals type yet. They're still emerging, but that's part of the excitement. Their sound is raw, energetic, full of hooks, and also jam friendly. Songs build

to stretch live. If you're kicking off your TAN journey, keep these tracks in rotation. Puzzle Piece, their first official studio release, capturing their live intensity and melodic sensibility. Swim, from their Studio Sessions Volume 1, this long jam -type track, 15 minutes plus, showcases their willingness to stretch and explore. The internet, same release, same mindset, ambitious, exploratory, proving they're not just rocking

songs, but building musical journeys. Lastly, Paper Cut, another extended jam piece that gives you a flavor for their improvisational mindset. For all these, the why is simple. You get the hooks, so it's accessible. You get the space, so it's a jam band. And you get the vibe, so it's live show worthy. Now, let's dig into some live magic. Because with Tanned, the records are one thing. but the live sets, that's where they shine. Swim, the live version, on the Studio

Sessions Volume 1. This track clocks in at 16 minutes with an extended introduction into a groove. Then climactic peaks, it gives you a taste for their live ambition. The internet live on stage, this one, often morphs beyond the studio version. key solos, bass, and drums locking in, guitar weaving in effects, and crowd writing it. Cover plus original mashups, they're still relatively new, so they'll often throw in a cover or two in their set and then pivot into one of

their originals, like Papercut. Those transitions are where you'll catch something special. Mid -set surprise segments. At festivals, They've been known to stretch the groove, drop into ambient keyboards with Daryl Wolf, then snap back into full rock. It's the kind of mindset where you lean in mid -song and realize you're in the middle of something unfolding live. These live moments matter because they show Tand is building a reputation for sets that evolve. Some unique facts and brand

personality. Here's some tidbits about tanned that are interesting and help you connect with who they are. While they're based in South Florida, they tour beyond the region. Midwest states festivals are gaining visibility across the scene. Their live recording archive is growing. They list shows at band camp so any jam tracker worth their salt can find recent shows and deep dive. Tanned matters because they represent the next wave of jam bands. They've got the tools, songwriting,

and band chemistry, also live energy. They're still building legacy. For jam fiends who love discovering bands just one step behind the big names, TAN is exactly that kind of find. If you like tight songs that stretch high -energy live shows and bands that are just beginning to blow up, TAN should be on your radar. Alright jam lovers, that's your deep dive into Tand. Go spin, swim, pull up a live show, check the set list archive, and if you get a chance, hit one of

their shows and watch the groove unfold. Thanks for joining me on Shecky's Jam Bands. Until next time, keep your ears open, your boots moving, and always chase the jam.
