This caused 13 deaths, thousands of injuries and many painful after effects. #2 Cecil Hotel Los AngelesFirst opening its doors in 1927, the Cecil Hotel has since become renown worldwide – not exactly for the service or quality but instead for its checkered and eerie past. Construction for the hotel began in 1924 under the financing of William Hanner.
