Episode description

Hey Scaredy Cats!  Thanks for joining us as we kick off the spookiest month of the year with our awesome guest hosts, Jenn, Lauren and Matt.  That’s right, it’s October and it’s going to be full of frights.  In this episode, we’re going to tackle not one, but two classic horror movies from the nineteen thirties, but their lineage goes back even further.  Picture it: Geneva, 1816.  It’s been a rainy summer and a group of friends sit around a fire when one of them challenges the rest to each write a ghost story.  One of these friends, a young woman of 19, is stumped, but instead becomes fascinated with the idea of a corpse being reanimated.  And that, Scaredy Cats, is how Mary Shelley came up with idea behind one of horror’s greatest creatures, Frankenstein’s Monster.   Frankenstein is featured in a whopping 73 movies – including the two that we will dissect tonight: Frankenstein released in 1931 and its sequel, Bride of Frankenstein, released in 1935.
