around out here? Did you see what it was? I'm out here looking them through the window now and I don't need anything. I don't want to go outside. Indeed, its white carew York. Hello, get somebody out here. What's going on out there?
Let's got a.
Litle bit of about sect for nine. I don't know. Do you see him out there? Yeah? I'm walking right away.
Oh thanks for joining me, spread Alaska. What I wanted to share with you today comes from Kim and Joshua. They're in their mid fifties. For many years now, they would float the McLaren River down to the Sissittina River south of the d Naley Highway. They had little pontoon rafts with their oars and stuff, and they would just trout fish, just do their thing, just to guys. No real set agenda hunting, fishing, or otherwise. They just wrap
the river. They would pull out near or the mouth of the McLaren meets up with the Susitino on these gravel bars. They've been doing this for years. It was mid June. They were on their annual trip and they would usually be gone about five days. They would start. They would leave home on a Sunday. Josh, since their last trip, had moved out of state, had met a woman. Her name is Candace. They became engaged. Where Candace was from in Utah. She was bragging about the natural beauty.
Josh said, you need to come to Alaska and check it out. He brought her up. We have Tim, Joshua and Candace. They get out there. They thought it was odd there wasn't a whole lot of people, But they weren't totally surprised because they were kind of early, as they put it, for everyone else, because a lot of people got there mainly when it's hunting season and then the whole area is is flooded. They raft, they do their thing. One of the things that stood out to
Tim was he said, the whole trip floating down. Something just seemed off, just totally off and he couldn't put his finger on it. And Josh had mentioned that had a more eerie vibe this particular trip. And they've done this trip, gosh a lot of times, at least a dozen that they could think of, probably a few more than that. So they get down and as they're getting closer to the area where they're going to pull out and just camp and then they do their fishing from
the gravel bar and all that kind of stuff. Just a great time. Initially they're floating river. Tim is on his little pontoon with the two oars, just man's size and not the big ones, just a small, one person size, and Josh had his, but behind the seat on Josh Is he had a cooler strap down and that's where Candace sat. So they were a little wonky in the water, but they did just fine. So they get down to this area and they pull the rafts out and all that kind of stuff. They set up camp the same
place they set up camp several times all throughout. This particular area is where they would pull out beautiful scenery around them and all that stuff, natural beauty. It was just one of their favorite places. They get everything pulled out, they get camp set up and it's mid dayish land of the midnight sun. It's strange when you deal with it in person. So it's new to Candas and she was in awe. And so once they set up their kents and stuff, josh is like, hey, I'm taking Candice.
We're gonna go walk the gravel bar and search around. Just look around, see if there's anything happening. So as they do, Tim just stayed at camp. He was doing his thing. He was going to do some fishing and whatnot. So josh and Candace take off from camp. They head
back towards the south. They cut through a little bit of a drainage from overflow from the ice and stuff, and it was dried up and they walked through there and as they're going along, they come back around and they're gonna hook back around, basically getting the lay of the land and pointing out stuff for Candas. And Joshua said, we got back to the back side to the south and they're parallel with the Susitna River facing south. They
heard a scream. The scream was coming from maybe one hundred and fifty yards up into the trees because from their vantage point, it started sloping up, and it goes up to twenty four hundred feet rather quickly. It was like a butte the mountain there. So as they hear the scream, cannices that grabbing a hole of Josh's arm. What the hell is that? He said? It was dual octave. It was very low but high pitched, and they were
both just synchronized and loud. So Josh was taken aback because they had heard weird things over the years, but not quite like this. The other stuff they heard, he equated it to probably coyotes or some other mammal. He was unaware of their scream or their call. Left it alone. They were in shock over it because how loud it was and it seemed projected at them. They didn't panic, they didn't freak out. Josh was armed, he said. Initially he was just wow. That was really intense. And so
they circled back around the gravel bar. He got brush growing and stuff like that. But they get back around to camp and as they get to camp, I'll pick up from Tim's side of it.
Right.
So, as Tim was doing his thing sitting there at camp, Basically he was heating up some stuff to make a lunch and also to heat up some tea. And as he was sitting there, he heard the scream as well, but from his vantage point, he's facing the opposite direction. There's brush behind him. Joshua and Candis are on the opposite side of that, south of him, and he's facing north, he said, out of the blue. As he was sitting there,
he heard that scream. After he heard the scream, he stood up and he looked around to make sure his shotgun was right nearby, and he's looking and he was that was the oddest sound because he heard exactly what Cannie and josh did, just reverberating around him, directly across the river. He heard a very weird chirping noise, a very loud chirping, and it was not natural, he said.
Immediately his hair stood up on end, and he just slowly reached down, grabbed the shotgun and was looking towards the direction of this chirping sound as he's standing there facing that way, Because he said, he was basically transfixed, just staring, waiting for whatever to make more noise, signs of movement, whatever it may be. As that's going on, he didn't realize how much time had passed, but enough time had passed where Josh and Cannis all of a sudden a coming back up on camp and they see
Tim standing there holding the shotgun looking across. Josh asked him, hey, you heard what we heard, and he was like, I heard something behind me, but then I heard weird chirping across the way there, Josh said. When he said that, he looks over, Cannis is really freaking out, and so he tries to conver down. Oh, we hear strange noises, No big deal, and she goes that scream was real odd.
They calmed things down. They settled back down into camp, which was really very hard to do because Tim said that it struck him really hardcore to where his hair was standing up and he had never had that hap and even seen bears all the time, and so he took it very serious. What's causing this? So as they're sitting there, he finishes up to lunch thing and the tea and they're all sitting there talking in a circle on their little fold out chairs. Josh and Candace had
their back to the brush behind them. Their backs are facing south and they're facing Tim, who's facing back towards among the opposite side of their little campfire. He's directly north to them, and they're looking past him on the other river bank side. And as they're sitting there talking, Kennice jumps up in points. Now when she jumps up in points, Tim jumps up, turns around. Josh is already halfway standing up. As Tim turns around, they're all looking
and they're not seeing what she saw. She tells them, hey, there's something very dark moving over there in that brush. You could hear it. And so they stop a second because they're near the river, so there's other noises going on. But she picked up on the noise and they listened for a second and then they caught onto it too. You could hear the brush moving. Then they saw some of the brush moving around right. So Tim grabs a
shotgun again. Josh had his pistol on his hip, but he didn't even unholster it because Tim's right there the shotgun. They listened for a while and it goes quiet. Noise stops. Things calm down and they sit back down. They finish what they were doing, and Josh took the small bowls and stuff went over the river to wash them out. Being bear safe and all that he was sitting there
washing everything out. As Tim put it, him and Candice were sitting there at the campfire and she kept talking about that scream and Tim was like, yeah, I heard it and it was very odd. And as they're having this discussion, they hear the scream again, but this time it sounds like it's directly behind the brush behind them. They're like, what the hell, because again it reverberated around, so it sounded like it was coming from back behind
the brush. That immediately got Josh attention because he was just finishing up what he was doing. He comes back over and tells Tim and Candas, Hey, let's go back around there and see if we can see whatever's making this noise, because it's creeping me the hell out. So they all agreed. Kim took the lead, Josh was right behind with Candace directly behind him, and they basically retrace
Josh and Candace's path back around to the backside. Now, when they got around to the back side, and Tim was telling Josh it sounded like it was coming from over here. As he was saying that, right in the middle of saying that to him, they hear brush move off to their left from that little island of brush, and they're camped directly on the opposite side of it, right, So they hear this movement in the brush, and immediately
Tim's pointing shot in that direction. Josh draws his fire, and they're looking and following the sound with their ears and their eyes, trying to figure out where it's moving to right because there's a little bit of wind, but there's definitely chomping and crashing through this brush that's just right off to their left hand side. Tim said, let's
back up. Let's back up, because he's thinking bear, right, and the bear must have been drawn in with the smell of the food cooking, and then the food meal dissipateds was probably coming back out to leave the area.
It probably winded us. Let's give it room. So as they back up, they're down the gravel bar a little ways and they're looking back at the brush, and as they're doing so, all of a sudden, this dark figure less than one hundred yards away takes off bolts from almost directly in front of them in the brush, bolts to their right like a sprinter, And they said it was big, it was skinny, and they couldn't really make out much because it just took off, and the way
it was moving it looked real awkward, but it was booking, and it just crossed and went up into the brush, back up towards the sound where the original scream had come from, real fast. Tim said he followed it with the shotgun, but he was still behind it. He wasn't gonna shoot it. It was just a natural reaction and something starts moving like that, and so they watch it take off up into the trees, and so they all look at each other. Did we all just see this? Josh?
It heard stuff about the hairy Man in the past, but it was like people just been out in the woods too long or whatever, seeing what they want to see. But after that thing ran across, there was no denying in his mind. There's definitely something going on here. So after a moment or two and they're having a discussion about how fast it moved and how crazy it was or whatever, they retreat back to camp. Now, when they get back to camp, Kenna says, I have a very
bad feeling. I don't want to be here, Tim agres, and so does Josh. But because of what they had planned going on, they didn't want to not be in the area where one of their friends usually picks them up in a boat via the siussit in a river, So when they their pick up would come up and pick them up, and they would deflate their little rafts and they would put it in their friends twenty two foot boat. They had a system laid out to where they could put it all in there and just motorn out.
Of there and stay tuned for more sasquatch out to see We'll be right back.
After these messages at the end of their trip, so they had two more days to kill for this particular trip, so their ride wasn't coming for two more days, and they were in a conundrum. Do we float out of here, do we stay here and wait? Do we move camp? They went through all these options and they decided they're just gonna keep camp where it's at, which they later regret.
So as all this discussion is going on, Candace said that she kept feeling like she was being watched, but not from what ran off behind them, but from whatever is making that noise across the river. She just kept scenting like she was being focused on Tim and Josh. They had said, because I brought it up when Candice was feeling this, was there any straight anteress with you guys? They were just like, outside of the craziness we just saw it just seemed normal. I didn't feel like we're
being watched or whatever. So it goes on into evening time later. The way they had their tents set up. During that time, what Tim did was he went and cut a bunch of these alders and started weaving them in between the other alders to make a makeshift kind of bushcraft woven kind of thing to where it was a barrier to the backside of their tents. So when they were sleeping, if anything came in, there was a kind of barrier. Even though it wouldn't have stopped much.
It was just peace of mind mainly. And so they call it a night after that because they decided that in the morning they're gonna get up and just wrapped on out of there and they'll just float to Susitna. Tim had one of those garment in reaches and he was just going to plan on sending his friend with the Bodha text saying Hey, we're going to float down. This is Sittina, Please meet us at your soonest availability.
And they were just going to get out of the area basically, so they trumps off to bed and that night again Atlanta. At the midnight suner doesn't get overly dark. Candish and Josh were having a hard time sleeping because Candace kept tossing and turning and was just really freaked out. She had a very unsettling feeling. Josh was picking up on her vibe, and he wasn't doing too well either as far as listening. And the wind would blow and they would think they would hear something, but then they
would explain it away as the wind. Meanwhile, in the tip next to him, Tim he's hearing the same things. Tim hears a very weird kind of gibberish sound, like someone talking behind his tit, behind that little brush wall he tried to build. He keeps hearing it over and over and it was in whispered tones. But he knew what he was hearing, because I know I'm not going crazy. I know what I'm hearing. So at a certain point he gets out of his tit and he could hear
Candison Josh speaking. He says, Hey, there's noises going on out here, you guys, So they all get out. Josh and Tim are ormed. They decide, hey, let's go and see what the hell this noise is is freaking me out. The underbrush at this point is pretty dark. It's still real light out up in the sky, but it's very dark and shadowy in the brush. Tim said that as they walked around his timp, because on that side there was a small game show that cut just behind this
barrier he put. So they had to go around the makeshift barrier to get onto this little game trail to go back in there and look. Now, he says, he doesn't know what possessed him to want to walk back there to look, but it was just sheer curiosity. Now, when they get back around there, I grant you, they've just seen this thing hours before run from that same
set of brush back across on up. So as he's going around and they get he said, maybe fifty feet down this trail, which is real hard to get through because it was just getty noodles. There was this stuff interwoven everywhere, and it was real hard to get through there. They get about fifty feet back and Tim says he's seeing a dark shadow moving through the brush silently. He was blown away because they were making all sorts of noise, trying to just get fifty feet and this thing is
just seamlessly moving from right to left. And he's just awestruck at this movement. So he squashed down and he's pointing, he's pointing. He's like, do you see it? Do you see it? Tim was like, let's go. Josh, standing behind him, said yes, I agree, let's go. I see it. So they start backing out. Josh grabs Kennis's arm because he wanted to hold on to her, and says, back out, you lead us out backwards. We're going to keep an
eye on this thing, and so she does. So she's just following the same way they went fifty feet and then they come around the little brush thing and then there's their tents. When they got to the point where they're coming around the brush pile, Tim tried to make because a barrier a scream reverberates do all of them just sharp, high pitched, but with the low tony you could barely hear. It shocked the hell out of him. When the scream happened, Tim emptied his shotgun into the
brush into the direction of that scream boom. He let off all six shots, they pour out of there. They were freaked out. They ran out past the tent. Tim was sitting there, running in the rear trying to reload his shotgun as fast as he could, and Josh had his pistol out, and they run out onto the gravel bar between where their camp was and where the rafts were sitting. And they were standing there because it was an open area. It was light enough out there, and
they were looking back at the brush right. So once Tim was reloaded and Josh and they were all panting real hard and freaked out, and Cannice was trembling and crying because it was as scary as hell. They said that scream was so high pitched that had they not had stuff in their hairs and everything like that, they wanted to cover their ears. They felt it in their bodies.
And so they stand there and they hear movement back behind this little barrier that he had put up earlier, and it was just crashing and thrashing, and then all of a sudden, this low groan that seen the last thirty seconds on one single kind of octave that went on, and there are just what the hell is that? Right after that noise goes away and fades away. They all look at each other, what the hell is going on here?
All of a sudden, that little barrier behind the tents, which was about six feet back from the tents, All of a sudden, all that whole wall of brush that he had tried to interweave together as a barrier just gets pushed down almost on top of the tents. And they were just taking it back because it happened so quickly. It was very violent. It was just all of a sudden, this thing's pushing the stuff down. As that's happening, they're trying to make out the figure behind, and then they
realize there's two, two figures pushing this stuff. Right, they freak out. Tim had already reloaded the shotgun and so he starts fire shots. Josh starts fire shots, and all of a sudden, the brush kind of bounce back up out of the way, and they heard movement and scuffling through the brush moving away from him, So they like, screw this right. Tim runs over to the tent because at this point he had just exhausted all the ammo he had on him. He had a satchel that had
his garment in reach. Extra ammo and all his personal important stuff. He ran to his tent grabbed that out of there. Josh did the same. And what they did was is he immediately is using his cell phone with the garment in reach to send a message to his buddy that's going to pick him up in the boat. They do that, he gets confirmation the buddy received the text and whatnot that it was like twenty minutes had passed. Meanwhile,
Cannis Is just had been like somber but crying, sobbing. Basically, Josh is of course trying a consoler and everything, saying it's all right, they're gone, we're armed, we're good. Once Tim got the confirmation through the garment in reach as his friend received the message ten to four, I'm heading out. The first thing I got whatever. They worked out. So once they got confirmation of that, they just had their personal importance stuff and they went and pushed their rafts
into the water and floated on down. Now they got to a certain point to where they decided to drop their anchors. They just basically sat out there because they were so tired, but they felt monicam of safety because they're in the middle of the river. They got their anchors out grant you. The little anchors they were using weren't working the best, but it was a slow drag against the curtain as the anchor was just getting drug
along here and there. They sat there. Eventually the buddy comes picks them up, and once his buddy comes or picks them up, they just tie the raft together and drag them back up and then up through the clearing little ways to where their camp was. Now. They were approximately a half mile from their camp when they floated out and then floated down. So when they came back up with his friend, came armed with one of their other buddies, basically ready for whatever. They get off the boat,
they go over and inspect the campsite. So one of the tents was gone, the one that Cannie and Josh was in. It was completely gone. They saw no sign of it. Tim's appeared to be smashed down. The little fiberglass poles and stuff were all broken up. He said, there was no salvaging. That the tent had been torn a little bit from whatever kind of tearing or investigating these things were doing at their campsite. The one thing that stood out to Josh was that there was one
item left from their tent. It was Cannis's pillow, which was a very small, inflatable little pillow. He said it was very weird because it was in her sleeping bag when they gotten out of there, and then now all of a sudden, it's just that pillow there. So he said when he went to go and inspect it, it stunk bad, stunk real bad. It was like a greasy type substance on on it. It was real funky. And the friend that came, they were telling him what happened, and the guy is he didn't doubt him. He was
just in shock. Holy crap, And of course he asked, what was it a bear? Like the bears don't do this? Was it a bear? And they were like, no, it's not a bear. They explained everything that happened. Meanwhile, they start deflating the wraps and getting everything stacked up and
all that. They're salvaging what they can and trying to clean up the mess while his friend and the buddy he brought in the boat are standing guard and they're listening, and they would hear noises every once in a while on the back side of this brush where the initial scream came from, but no one was going to check
that shit out, you know what I mean. They just stood there, they took care of what they needed to clean up the area, and then they loaded up, took off on the guy's jet boat and got out of there.
I want to thank them for their efforts and getting a hold of me, getting the information to me, because a lot of people, they'll reach out, they'll share their experience, but then I can't get back a hold of them because it's almost like they get it off their check and they're just done with the situation, which I respected, I get it. What I want to share with you
today comes from Jesse. Jesse was in her early teens in the mid nineties and she went back to her home village where her mom had her Her mom was a single mom. They ended up moving out of state for many years because her mom found who eventually became her stepdadd Now, when she first gets back to her home village, everyone's a little standoffish treated tour miacan outsider, So for the first few weeks it was hard. Than one of her cousins showed up back in town for
the suing fishing season, so they had the connection. Then the cousin that showed up knew all the other people and so would go through and introduce and get Jesse on the right track as far as being back part of the community. The same cousin at the end of that season. Again, this is the mid nineties, at the end of the fishing season, he got back from fishing and said, Hey, I'm going to go out and do
some running around. I'm going to go up river a little ways and maybe you want to go with a couple of people are going, let's go check it out or whatever, and she agreed. She was like, that'd be great. So on the way, now, I was asked not to divulge the river. We'll just say it's within the Bristol Bay area. We'll leave it general was that. So she goes with her cousin and two other further removed cousins.
There was two guys, two girls. Now, as Jesse told me, they were about a good three hours skip ride going up river. I mean it's one particular part of the river kind of dog legs back and forth a few times, real tight area on the upper end of that. A couple bends up. They stopped and there was a nice little plateau up above the river and they were going to have a picnic. They were gonna eat their lunch.
She said it was midday. It was early August, about roughly this time of year again, mid nineties, And so they had a boombox and they were playing Yeah, Math, you know that unbelievable song. And they had that playing like on repeat, and she was getting annoyed with it because she had heard it so many times, and she asked him, hey, can you kill the music a little bit. It's totally just messing up my whole vibe out here
or whatever. So they cut off the boom box, and as soon as they cut off the boom box, way off in the distance, they hear this how this long bellowing howl kind of growl. It was hard to make out because she said it. It sounded like it was way far away, but they could hear it. And one of the other guy, the further removed cousin brings up, oh, that was a hairy man. We should go. That was a long ways away, and Jesse, not realizing what they were talking about, was like, what's a hairy man? What
are you talking about? And then they broke it down for and everything, and she was like, oh, I thought it was all make belief stuff on the silly shows and whatever. They were like, no, it's a hairy man and whatnot. She was still in disbelief, like it made no sense to her. But she was just like okay. So the topic changed and they were quiet, they were talking. They're just being young kids. The other female chimes up and says, hey, I have some whiskey in my bag.
Do you guys want some whiskey. Everyone was like no, we're on the water. We can do that when we get back. She wanted to sip whiskey. There was no argument with her. She was a little bit older than everybody and Jesse was like fourteen, so she had no skin in the fight older cousin. Obviously she's gonna do what she wants. So she goes and gets her whiskey and everyone's disappointed and not really talking to that other female cousin. She's just double bubbling that whiskey like there's
no tomorrow, and pretty soon she's just smashed. About an hour had passed, right, and so Jesse said that she got a weird feeling of being watched, and she mentioned it to her other cousin with a more familiar cousin that was introducing her to everybody, and he said, yeah,
I sense that too. We should probably get going. The other woman at this time had way too much and she was just falling down drunk, combative, the whole bit, verbally abusive, everyone was a pos and all that kind of stuff, and she had to use the bathroom.
For more sasquatch out to see.
We'll be right back after these messages. So the two guys say, hey, she shouldn't go over in that brush alone. Maybe Jesse, you can go and watch her to make sure she doesn't go off missing. So she reluctantly was like fine, because she didn't care for this other woman's vibe. She was totally out there raging, alcoholic, abusive, rude, real ugly situation. Jesse felt bad for because she felt obviously there's something wrong in her life where this is a problem.
So she follows her over and she's standing about twenty five feet away from this girl who's still cussing, I don't need you to have to follow me. She's just laying into Jesse and Jesse, Jesus, what am I even doing over here? Why follow her? If she's just gonna
be so rude whatever. So she just turned her back stood there nearby, about twenty five feet away, and she could clearly see her other two cousins standing over there and look in the direction, but maur try not to pay attention to the girl handling her business in the brush. Now off the river bank, you got this tall grass, she said, it was about three four foot tall. They walk down a little game trail to get over to the taller alders and willows in that little particular area
where she tucked in to go to the bathroom. Now, with her back turn, she started hearing the brush moving and thought it was the wind. And just as she was getting ready to turn around, she said, she hurd a grunt, and she immediately thought bear. So she yells out to the other two guys bear they were armed, and immediately they come charging over. Right now, as they come running up, Jesse's back is still to this girl and this sound, and she squats down and covers her
ear shoes, expecting them to start shooting. And as they run up, they stop, and they're doing this number, looking at the brush, and they're looking at each other and looking up, and they're motioning for Jesse to come to their direction, but they're not saying anything. They're just like, get over here, get over here. So Jesse monkey crawls on out in their direction. As soon as she split the difference, she said about halfway, they both leveled their
rifles and fired into the brush. Now, all this was going on, the drunk girl was doing her thing. She was oblivious to all of it till the guns cracked. Oh, a couple shots crack off, and she screams, right, so immediately everything goes chaotic. According to what Jesse said, she turned around and looked back, and all she saw was this dark figure turned and was moving away from what
her cousin told her. When they came up, they saw it moving towards the direction of where the other woman was using the restroom in the brush, and that's when they were like in shock and motioned her over. Now, they explain all this real fast, because it happened quick. So what, according to Jesse said was as she's realizing what's going on and seeing this dark figure moving away, immediately the two guys go rushing over towards the brush to get that chick out of the brush where she
was using the bathroom. Again, she was belligerent. She didn't know it was going going on. She starts accusing him of trying to shoot her. I heard the gun shots all this stuff. Right, So they're dealing with a drunk woman that's just uncooperative, belligerent, ugly scene, right. And Jesse's still standing where she had crawled back out, and they
came over to her. So she's standing there looking back and she hears the brush and she said she could see the top of the brush moving, lost sight of it, but it was moment moving back behind him, and she yells out, hey, it's moving, and they said, we hear it, we hear it. The other guy, not the closer cousin to her, he comes steps out further away from the brush and he's trying to look back up in there and everything, as her closer cousin was trying to get
this woman to listen and let's go. When she was being resistant, she was like, no, you guys are trying to kill me in all this nonsense, just belligerent, not realizing what was happening. She was not in her sensus. Some more, Jesse said when the guy steps back and that she can hear the back and forth between her closer cousin and this guy and her. They're all going back and forth. Shut up, just come on, we gotta go, we gotta go. And then they said it's a harry man.
It's the hairy man in the brush. When they said that, all of a sudden, this girl that was resistant, pulling away and just being belligerent comes charging out of the brush towards Jesse and she's falling down. She's so wasted, but she's jumping up panic and trying to run chaotic scene. Her closer cousin comes out and is a stopper. Stopper she going to run into the river because she wasn't all that far from doing just that. So they're all gathering around her, trying to get her to calm down
and whatnot. And as this is going on, Jesse keeps looking back to that brush because again she saw a movement moving back around, and the two guys heard it. And they're trying to keep this other woman from basically injuring herself and being a danger to everybody because she was just belligerent. Out of it now from what she said.
As they were standing there trying to counsel this girl and get her to stop her nonsense, which is impo gossible if anyone's dealt with a drunk that's just belligerent. It's almost impossible. As that's going on, all of a sudden, from the brush where they last heard the movement, the scream comes out. The scream bellows and just echoes, and it tears through everybody, right, And it was a pretty standard explanation. It was deep but also high pitched, all
rolled into one right. Not quite the air raid type, but it was brief and it was very powerful. Got all their attention. As the two guys are looking back at the brush and leveling their guns because they didn't know if it was coming out or leaving or what. They didn't know. As they're doing that, this chick, the drunk one, takes off running. They're like shit. They turn out. Hey, they're yelling her name, stop running, and she just barrels through the grass and poop right over the river bank.
She didn't even slow down. She's poosh and they heard her splash in the water. Immediately everyone goes running over there. The other guy who was a little bigger than her closer cousin, and he jumped down the bank. He left his rifle up on the bank and is trying to get this chick out of the water. Luckily there was a little eddy area that wasn't too deep of a hole in there, and it was only about three feet
deep where she had landed. She's just belligerent, You threw me in the water and all this just nonsense, right, And the guy is at that point is fed up, tells her to shut up get up the bank. So they're all struggling to help her up the bank. This screen just happened, so Jesse is freaked out. She's watching the brush. Her other cousin's trying to help this chick, and her cousin says, keep an eye out, let me know if it comes out of the brush. Everyone's in
a panic. They got to get this idiot out of the water who's beligerent drunk, and help the other guy out and then get over to the skiff to get out of there. So all this is going on, it's just craziness, chaotic. Jesse said. She squatted down and she was crying because of how dysfunctional this girl was. She had heard stories but never seen it with her own
eyes about how people get drunk and bligerent. She's dealing with it in real time and also watching out for this monster in the woods, and she totally freaked out. She's squatted out of crying. They finally get the girl out, and when she gets up on the river bank, she's so wiped out from the struggle of getting up the bank. She wasn't in the greatest of shape, a little overweight, what have you. She just lays there and says, leave me. So now they got another issue. This girl's leave me.
I just want to die, leave me, let it get me. In all this nonsense, they weren't doing none of that shit. So finally, after about fifteen to twenty minutes of this nonsense, each of the guys grabbed one of her arms and they just drag her. It wasn't all that far. They didn't hurt her, but they weren't gonna deal with the nonsense anymore. At this point, Jesse's holding the other guy's rifle because he was using two hands, and her closer cousin just had her by one arm and still holding
his rifle. So she's walking behind holding this rifle, knows nothing about it. She's just holding it basically right, So they get her drug over to the other edge, and she's finally kicking her feet up, and my parents are slot and slipping down. You guys are being mean to mean all this nonsense. They're fed up with her, get in the boat. They help her down the bank. She gets into the skiff, she flops down onto the lund and she's just basically sulking and crying, saying, you guys
abused me and all this nonsense. So as Jesse stander holding his gun, her cousin goes down and starts the outboard, and the other guy that she's holding his rifle, he comes and grabs it from her. Now she is parallel with the brush, facing the same direction as the lake. The brush runs along the river. You know, she's parallel with the brush. She's facing that guy. When he takes his gun and immediately turns and off to her left. She turns the look too, and they see it just
inside the brush, squatted down in the same area. She was using a restroom looking out at them right, and all they could see was the silhouette of this right, and she freaks out. Jesse said, she ran, She slipped down the bank, got all muddy, ended up climbing into the skiff as the other guy was up on the bank. They couldn't see over the bank when they were down in the skiff, and all they see is him level
the rifle up and fire a couple of times. Boom, boom, and then he stops, looks you hear crashing off in the distance, and then he jumps down, unties the boat and pushes off and they back out of there and they go down river. She said it was about a three hour trip up, but on the way back down about an hour back into it, they stopped. They pulled off on the river bank. The girl had passed out at this time, the one that had been drinking. They just let her sleep. They got out of the skiff.
They went up on the bank. It was a little more open, there wasn't as much brush, and they're looking around. Grant you. An hour had passed since the guy had fired shots, and they had left that area their cruise and had a pretty good clip down river. So they're standing there a minute and one of the guys, the other guy, not her closer cousin, was smoking a cigarette and he was looking back up river and says, there
it is. Immediately got her attention. Jesse says, she turned and looked and oft in the distance you could see this black dot every once in a while, popping up and going down with the terrain. It was like one second you see it and then it was gone, and you see it pop up again, and you could tell it was clear in the distance it was coming towards them. And immediately they all, well, screw this. They got back in the skiff and untied and they just they took
off and got either there. She has not been back to the village except once since then. She stayed the rest of that summer. They went back to the city they live in now, and she's been back once, and that was to bury her mom about ten years ago. That particular cousin that was with her and a very large part of getting her reintroduced to her culture and stuff. He had since passed as something had happened and he had lost his life somehow and in some kind of
tragic accident. Not going to get into that, but she ended up during that time running into the other guy, the more distant cousin. She asked him how he was doing. Long time, no see, and it took him a second to realize who she was, and then once he did, he was like, do you remember up on the river bank and she said yeah, and he commenced to telling her that after that, every time he would go up in that area, he would have really big rocks thrown at him, and he no longer goes up into that area.
He said, because he shot at it and probably hit it the way he was shooting at it, that it was after him. So he felt like this thing was after him. Years later, anytime he'd go up near the area. By the time he was done with this trip, he was leaving because rocks were being thrown at him with aggression. That really stood out to her. She hasn't been back up since. I really appreciate Jesse reaching out. Thank you guys for joining me. We'll catch you on the next one.
