Episode description

Fred from the Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube channel is back with two more stories from deep in the Alaskan bush. Be sure to click the link in the show notes and head over to Fred’s channel to subscribe. In this episode,

Fred shares two unsettling accounts of “Hairy Man” encounters reported from remote parts of Alaska. First, we hear from Nathaniel and Theresa, a married couple in their seventies who spent years homesteading in the Alaskan wilderness. What began as strange disturbances around their property gradually turned into something far more disturbing.

They experienced missing items, uprooted tree stumps, and terrifying screams in the early morning hours before a Native man finally gave them a name for what he believed was responsible: the “Hairy Man.” Theresa later saw a tall, humanlike figure with no visible neck near their chicken coop. After shots were fired, half of their chickens were found dead.

Months later, Nathaniel encountered a brownish-gray figure moving near their burn pit. Not long after, something struck their cabin, revealed itself at close range, and was shot at. In the days that followed, the couple heard distant howls and eerie call-and-response screams echoing through the area. A neighbor eventually fired shots to run it off, and the activity stopped for years.

Fred then shares Jacob’s story from a coastal village in Alaska.

While out snowmachining with his cousin to gather firewood, the two men spotted what Jacob estimated to be a ten-foot-tall figure. They heard a powerful whoop, then later found themselves in a tense exchange of gunfire after the creature appeared to lift a log. When they returned, they discovered the cousin’s snowmachine had been destroyed and dragged into the trees.

Now one of your putty. I got a string going on here something just because my dog. Something killed your dog.

Speaker 2

My dog.

Speaker 1

We're flying through the or over the tree. I don't know how it did it, Okay, Damn, I'm really confused. All I saw was my dog coming over the fence and he was dead. And once you hit the ground, like, I didn't see any cars. All I saw was my dog coming over the fence. Set what are you putting? We got some wonder or something crawling around out here? Did you see what it was? Was? It was standing enough. I'm out here looking through the window now and I

don't see anything. I don't want to go outside. Jesus Chraice, you better hello, get somebody out here. Quent on out there. I thought of a bit about sixty nine.

Speaker 2

I don't know easy him out there, yeah right, oh hey, greetings Fred and Alaska.

Speaker 3

Thanks for joining me.

Speaker 2

What I wanted to share with you today comes from Nathaniel and Teresa. Nate and Teresa, they're in their seventies. Okay, they've been married really long time, like over forty years something right around in there. They used to homestead and remote Alaska down towards Copper River, Valley. Now it wasn't in Copper River Valley proper, but it was in that direction. They had sold out to some family members and they

didn't want the place put on blast. I respect it now, going back in time, when they first started a homestead in this place, it took them a number of years to get things logistically laid out. They had to get the road in access road, they had to clear in some of the lot so they could build, and it

was a process. But over the course of those initial years there was a lot of strange things that they didn't know what the hell was causing it, with stuff coming up missing, different things just showing up being random places.

A couple of the tree stumps were ripped out of the ground, and Nate specified that the ones that were ripped out of the ground were the ones that were cut off higher because at one point he was going through with the cat and some of the trees he was just cutting off his eight foot He had intended on using those stumps as beginnings of a lean two shed for firewood and stuff like that.

Speaker 3

He was just pre planning and doing his thing.

Speaker 2

He said, there was a couple of those over the first few years that ended up getting ripped out of the ground and turned upside down with the roots exposed. He was like, who in the hell's doing this? How the hell did they rip it out with ball and all yeah and turn it upside down? It was like and there was no mechanical marks. There was you know, other heavy equipment signed in the area.

Speaker 3

So he was just it was like, what the hell?

Speaker 2

But things like that were happening and he had no answer for you, and what do you do with that shit?

Speaker 3

And from what he was saying, there was a multitude of things.

Speaker 2

Screams in the mo He said those were the most jarring because it reverberated through the whole place, made it real, like what the hell's going on?

Speaker 3

Which I could totally understand.

Speaker 2

That's some jarring to the system, especially when there's not any wheelhouse about the Harryman. Okay, they're not alasking natives, but they're alasking. So when things end up coming to a head, all right, they're about seven years in and there's things happening here and there. It's nothing constant, continuous, but enough happens often enough to where it's like, what

the hell's going on? And so they started asking some of the people they were meeting that live nearby near glenn Allen and some other places, Lake Louise and what have you. Has anyone else's experienced this? Do you know of anyone doing any hyjinks out here or whatever? And one Native man pulled them aside at one point they were coming out of the lodge there eating at Lake Lucille and told them, hey, you got to be very careful. The Harryman will cause problems, are vindictive. You got to

be careful. And Harry, what is this? It wasn't in their wheelhouse, So he broke it down for him and said, hey, is what it is.

Speaker 3

You'd believe me or not.

Speaker 2

Obviously you're dealing with it, so you look at your evidence and get real. And so after explaining it to him and everything, they were like, wow, that's crazy. At the same time, they had stuff happening at their place and they could not account for it whatsoever. So they were leaning more towards it being in reality because at the time they hadn't seen anything, no visuals, no, not in just strange activity. Within a month of having this conversation,

Teresa went out in the morning. They had started their chickens and all that right when she went out to the coop. This was early spring, it was plenty of daylight. She always carried a shotgun because there was some bear activity and stuff. They weren't horribly far from the Copper River, salmon NERVs.

Speaker 3

There's bears.

Speaker 2

It was Alaska, over forty thousand plus brown bears everywhere. So she goes out carrying a gun was religious because of these natural predators and whatever have you.

Speaker 3

It wasn't for the Harryman per se.

Speaker 2

But as she goes out, the chicken coop's about sixty feet off the front steps of this little house that they built, and as she's walking towards.

Speaker 3

It, she looks up.

Speaker 2

As she's looking, she notices something behind it that shouldn't be there. Okay, because when you're going out, you know your property. You know when there's something out of place, something extra. There's some extra, and it was a lot extra. What ended up happening is as she's looking at it, she stops and just without even thinking, it was like autopilot. She unslings the shotgun, is holding it. It clicked the

safety off. From when she clicked the safety, it came out from behind the coop right and Now, the roof of this coop is.

Speaker 3

One sided roof. It was at least ten foot.

Speaker 2

Now this thing was roughly, from her guestimation, a couple of feet taller. So in essence, she saw a rounded off head and shoulders right, no neck, it appeared, but it was silhouette because of how the light was coming up and the sun was coming up and everything, and so it came out and when it came out from behind there, it was looking right at her, and that's when she swung the shotgun up and it took off. It ran to her left, and she's following with the shotgun,

and she didn't know what the hell. She was scared, and she popped a shot off in the air like in that direction, but not trying to hit it. No, sooner she takes that shot. Nate already coming out of the house right he comes out. He's in his boxers, he's cussing and fussing, and he's got another rifle seven million meter mag and he comes out, is what the hell, where's it at? Where's that he's sinking bear? And of course he wants to protect his wife. He's not going

to play that shit. Well, Nate said, when he came out and saw her standing facing the coop, about half the distance between the house and the chicken coop, about twenty five thirty feet away. She was looking off to the right, so he turned and looked at the right, and he saw it hit the trees, come circle back around and stop.

Speaker 3

It made noise going in, he said. But when he was.

Speaker 2

From his perspective up on that porch, when he was looking at the top of the stairs, he saw it loop back.

Speaker 3

Around, made noise going in.

Speaker 2

Then it went dead quiet, and he watched it come and get low to the ground in the brush where she couldn't because from her perspective is all brush and trees over there. From his perspective, he saw because being earlier in the year, it hadn't all that undergrowth, hasn't bloomed.

Speaker 3

And taken over. The undergrowth hadn't just walked all the view.

Speaker 2

And so as this is going on, he's watching, and he starts yelling at Teresa, get in the house and get in the house, and he's aiming the rifle over that way, and he says, I see you, I see you. This thing realizes it's being spoken to and then looks over it and it stands up right, because he watched it crawl behind the brush and then saw it coming through the brush towards the front edge of it, and was watching Teresa like in an ambush position to see

what she was gonna do. Ran in noise, dead quiet, even crawling up. He said, he didn't hear a thing. He yelled at it, and when it looked back up at him from the brush, he said, immediately he recognized, oh, he's holding the gun at me. Jumped up right. And when this thing, he said, when this thing jumped up, it blew the bushes apart and took off into the trees. Now as that's happening, Teresa's already on her way back.

She heard this grumble growl bushes when she immediately turned swing to the shotgun that way and start pumping and dumping boom boo, and Nate's yelling at her, stop shooting, and.

Speaker 3

So she stopped. She's what does that? Comes running up, passes him, gets in the house.

Speaker 2

Slam the door before Nate can get back inside, right behind her, and he's pounding let me and let me indemn it. And so she came back unlocked the door because in her panic she shut and locked the door, and poor Nate would standing out there. But anyway, nothing funny about it. But I'm just envisioning marry couple and getting the door slammed the face and locked out, especially with what was happening. But anyway, so they get into the house, they retreat in there, they lock everything up.

They screwed this dresser up in front of the door because they didn't know what this thing was going to do. And it just so happened that on that side of the cabin that was where the biggest windows were, it was oriented in such way that they could see that tree line easily from any of the windows on that side. So Nate took up position, had the window open, had the rifle ready, and was scanning the area.

Speaker 3

They were hyped up.

Speaker 2

They started remembering what that old native guy was telling them about the harry Man and how they can be vindictive all this other stuff and watch out for their small animals and dogs and things of this nature. So after that calms down, some time passes a few months and they're into the throes of summertime and the front of theirs has a fish wheel, so they're processing fish. They're doing the homesteading thing, right, they're jarring up preserves and getting the garden going, and it.

Speaker 3

Just homestead life, just day to day life.

Speaker 2

Trust me, they hadn't forgotten shit about what had happened with the chicken coop and everything, because they'd end up. What had happened was is they lost about half their chickens during that episode. The aftermath when she finally went back on checked half the chickens were gone. There's a bunch of feathers and blood back behind the coop because on the back side is where they would breach in and grab the eggs listening and just went through just snatching the mouth and tear them up.

Speaker 3

Theyan forgot that.

Speaker 2

So what they did after that and over the course of the summer and doing their garden and building stuff, is they put up a nice big fence around that coop and they went and got a mass stiff dog. So the dog was only kept in there when they would be brought out and put on a chain every once and whatnot, but it wasn't allowed to run off.

The dog Over time got used to being in that area. Now, not a whole lot of time has transpired, okay, because we're going into the fall after that initial spring when shit hit the fan and they had the visual and the chickens died. So coming into that fall they had this dog now and everything right, and the fence is built and all that.

Speaker 3

Even though the dog's a puppy, it's pretty large.

Speaker 2

It's massive and they get big quick, being an adolescent pupp basically, it was still.

Speaker 3

Learning and it happened to be on the chain.

Speaker 2

This one morning, it was getting to the end of September, Nate went out was like, all right, we're going to put you in the fence because he was just having a weird feeling all morning. He said the energy was off. There was something in the air. He just couldn't quite place it. But he was like, I'm going to get you put back behind that fence. So he gets a dog put away. They don't go anywhere without someone being

armed or gunn very nearby. Over this time as well, they also cleared out a bunch of the brush and the underbrush and limb the trees up to six foot some foot high so they have further view into the trees, right, which smart thing to do anyway, And that morning gets the dog put away and it's coming back into the house, and he's looking towards his house and off to the right hand side of it, back to the back end of the clearing that had a big old burn pit

back there, and there was still some smoldering going on because there were burning stumps and stuff like that. And he noticed something big back by that burn pit, and it was like, what the hell is that amount of dirt? Because the coloration of brown, he thought it was a mound of dirt, and he was like, did we move fresh dirt over there? He was trying to like, why is there brown dirt? So he takes a seven millimeter mag off his shoulder and clicks his safety off because again the energy was off.

Speaker 3

He couldn't understand.

Speaker 2

And another thing he remembered in hindsight was the way the dog was acting when he unchanged. The dog was happy to see him as usual, but it was a little extra anxious. So when he unleashed it and brought it and put it in the fence, it couldn't scurry

in fast enough. And typically the dog wanted to play, wanted to bounce around and get attention, did and it went in there quick, and so it was that was playing in his mind the odd feeling, and so he starts walking back there, and as he's walking past the house, the windows were open, and he yells up at Teresa, hey, you grab your gun and come here. And so in the meantime, the shotgun was still there, but he got Teresa thirty out six right, and so she comes out with a rifle and.

Speaker 3

Is following him.

Speaker 2

She's about twenty feet behind him as he's walking towards the burn pile. The burn pile's a good seventy feet back past their house, and as he's walking towards it, you got to understand there's smoldering and stuff going on, so it's obscurre in his view. But as he's getting closer, he notices this brown what he thought was a mount of dirt, fresh dirt because of the coloration, started moving real slow and then dropped lower and then started moving fast.

Speaker 3

So immediately gun up.

Speaker 2

He's looked the hell and they watch it, and it's like doing that spider cral thing. Now, from where that burn pit was approximately about one hundred and twenty feet to where it's opened, they cleared a whole bunch of stuff back and that was back towards where their gardens. They're building a larger garden and a greenhouse in the feet. But this scene cleared that one hundred and twenty his feet in no time. And they just they watched it happen.

They're like, what the hell that was? Like it freaked him out. So they retreat back in the house. Teresa grabbed the dog first, brought the dog with into the house. Right they could lose chicken, and she didn't want to lose the dog. So as they're in the house and they're talking to each other, about twenty five minutes had passed, and it reached out to the local neighbors that they've become really close with and stuff, explain what had happened.

The guy, the neighbor guy was going to be on his way shortly, had just gotten moving and what have you. So they got back up coming and other potential witnesses to see what's happened to try to help them.

Speaker 3

As they're sitting there and he just.

Speaker 2

Got off the phone, Teresa brought over some more coffee, and so he was just pouring his coffee and right beside him where his kitchen the table was. So if you go the doors in the middle of the house. There's a window off to the side when you step in. From what he was saying, it's thirty five feet going back.

There's one room that was built into the back left side as you're standing facing in, there's three windows that run along that side, and between the first window and the second window is a kitchen table because right inside the doorway, right off to the left is the kitchen counter area.

Speaker 3

And then immediately off to the.

Speaker 2

Right, because he was twenty feet wide, was refrigerator, stove and stuff like that. So they maximizing space and storage and whatnot. And again, rustic build. It wasn't the Todd mall. That's not how it goes down. So where he was sitting at the table between the two windows, dam something smacked the outside of the wall really hard, so hard as he was porn of coffee, he dropped both broke the coffee pot, spilled coffee all over himself. But he was in such like shock of what was going on

that didn't face him at first at first. And so immediately Teresa's looking out the window because she was closest to that first window as you come in the door, and she's like, it's out there, it's out there, and so he jumps up and runs over the second window, meanwhile grabbing his rifle that was leaning against that wall right behind him. Slid over and fell, but he picked

it up, ran the other one, slit it open. And this thing was about fifteen feet away, walking away, and stay tuned for more sasquatch out to see, will be right back after the east messages. And he said the way it was walking was with such confidence and was so wide and so thick. He said, it was real muscular. The hair was it was even, but it wasn't like real thick. He could see to the skin and it was like a not all the way black, but that

ashen gray. And I asked him if it was like a couple of shades darker than wet cement, and he said not quite. So it was about the color of wet seamen in like an off gray. And as he's watching it, he could see and it's that dirt brown hair, like the reddish brown, and it's walking away with such confidence, and so as he's aiming the rifle, he's like stuck because he's seeing.

Speaker 3

It full getting a really good look at it.

Speaker 2

He said, as it was walking, it stopped and turned all the way around and faced him when I got about twenty five three feet away. As he's looking, Teresa's not immediately on his mid because she's obviously inside in a safe place, but she had opened the other window and she has a thirty odd six. He's not even thinking about that because he's trying to figure out he's looking at this thing.

Speaker 3

And he said it looked at him and just gave him this glare. How dare you like? He was the most disgusting thing in the world.

Speaker 2

And Nate was like, what the hell because it was all happening so fast, and all of a sudden, damn, Teresa's shoots this thing right and she shot it in the gut. Immediately it tumbled down, jumped up, took off poem and the gun shot startled Nate and he had a negligent discharge boom.

Speaker 3

He just squeezed.

Speaker 2

He wasn't even aiming at it, he just had the gun up out the window, but it ended up popping a shot too, didn't hit nowhere closer to the creature, but it takes off right after it took.

Speaker 3

The gun shot, and just file for the next five nights.

Speaker 2

The neighbor shows up a little while later, but within a couple hours, they hear this howling, this howling way off in the distance. He guesstimates some mile ish away, a mile and a half because his sound moves weird in the wilderness. But the neighbor's hearing it too, and they're explaining everything that happened to the neighbor, and neighbors a holy shit, we've seen a couple of them, but they never did anything like what's happening with you, guys.

And so they talked for a while. But five days, every so often this scream and hollering would be going off off in the distance. And after the second third day of this five day period, they started getting calls backers right, there's started being more and more sounds around. After that five day period of that craziness going on, and more and more answered calls back and forth, this thing reappeared and they knew it was the same one

because it's gut you could see the dried blood. Its attitude was real bad, which I mean they shot him, Oh of course, yeah, it's gonna have a shitty attitude about that. But what they did was is they went out there and they both pointing guns at it. They were yelling their dog, the puppy because they came out, Teresa didn't fully shut the door all the way and the dog is after so much going on, the dog got desensitized and whatnot and got very protective of Teresa.

So dog comes flying out behind them, starts barking. Teresa immediately holds her gun up and just calling the dog back. The dog comes back to her because she had been training it. Dog comes back to her. But it's just it's once after this thing, and may's let's get back in the house because they're going to both go out and just open fire on this thing. We're not going to live in terror and be trapping her own house. We're going to just drop it. But they didn't because

of the dog coming out interrupting things. They retreat back into the house. That's when the thing stood there for about roughly a half an hour. Meanwhile, when they're inside, Nate's on the phone with the neighbor again, and his neighbor was up and dressed and happened to have his truck already running.

Speaker 3

For whatever reason, he says, I'm on my way.

Speaker 2

So during the course of everything, just as a neighbor They can hear him coming down the access road that they cut in, which is a cat cut road and gravel. They could hear the neighbor of falling ass. Well, this thing just turns and walks off into the trees. The neighbor comes pulling up next to the house, talking from his truck window to their window, and he was like, is walked over that way?

Speaker 3

He walked over that way.

Speaker 2

The neighbor had an fal right pulls up over where the flower beds and stuff were for the garden. A little raised beds pulled up beside there and had his window down just open.

Speaker 3

Fire. Boom boom dumped his twenty round box mag in that thing.

Speaker 2

All they heard was screaming and hollering, just thrashing the movement going away.

Speaker 3

He didn't shoot at it.

Speaker 2

He shot a tree off near where this thing was, just nonchalantly walking like it on the place. So a neighbor backs up, pulls back up to the house, runs inside, rings his gun and extra ammal with them. They discuss everything that happened. They were like, did you shoot it? Do we need to go and put it out of his misery? And he was like, no, I shot the tree that was near it just to get it moving, and they're like, we went out just a little bit ago to kill this thing.

Speaker 3

But anyway, so they just let it go.

Speaker 2

After that, the neighbors stuck around for most of the day, hanging out, just gonna be there for him. They're gonna handle business, and it comes back. Nothing ever happened after that. It went quiet, nothing was disturbed, nothing got funky, that the energy wasn't off. And for a number of years after that, nothing not a peep, until shortly before they sold the property to some family members who were well

aware of everything, the history of everything. Only the last couple of years that they lived there that in the spring in the fall they would hear Howl's way off in the distance and they recognized that tone as that creature.

Speaker 1

Man.

Speaker 2

I came out and to sitting there drinking coffee. I'm not trying to laugh, Nate, I'm not trying to make fine. I'm just envisioning poorn coffee and then bam and spilling all that hot coffee on yourself. He ended up with like second degree burns on his thighs. That's not funny.

I'm just the whole vision of that, in my mind is like I had to chuckle because Nate chuckled when he was telling me when he was looking out the window at this thing, and all of a sudden, Teresa cracks a shot with a thirty odd to six.

Speaker 3

He says, scared the shit out of him, which I could rully understand.

Speaker 2

He's lost in a trance and then bam, I could imagine.

Speaker 3

Anyway, I'm going to thank Nate and Teresa for sharing that.

Speaker 2

God bless them for stepping forward, especially being of that age where back in the time where they weren't so keen on sharing. But I appreciate them sharing that. What I wanted to share with you today comes from Jacob. Jacob is from a small village on the coast of Alaska. He's still there and there's still some ongoing things, and he didn't want specifics on his exact location, which is irrelevant.

Speaker 3

That's final me.

Speaker 2

It's all about the behaviors prior to something going crazy. Jacob has rad dogs most of his life, grew up around him and everything like that, and over the years it's dwindled down to where they're not so prevalent. He only has a couple dogs around the house and they've transferred over to mainly using snow machines to do the

running around. Where they have to go to get firewood is thirty five forty miles at minimum to go and collect firewood, and a lot of times they'll all pitch in and get a barge a little wood.

Speaker 3

Brought in and use it like that.

Speaker 2

But anyway, so Jacob and his cousin right up their snow machines because it was approximately three years ago, and they headed out to just get firewood, pretty basic stuff.

Speaker 3

And as they get out to the area.

Speaker 2

Where they're going to be clicking this firewood, they're looking around for beetlekill and some sap trees.

Speaker 3

Comes to that nature.

Speaker 2

As soon as they get into the area, they start snow machining around, making tracks, packing the trail down because they've come across a little group of trees that they figure, okay, we'll whack and stack these ones and be on our way. So him and his cousin are doing this, going around in a circle. As they're doing so, all of a sudden,

he's paying attention to what he's doing. He's steering the snow machine and trying to stay on trail and pack it down and As he's coming around, he almost hits the back end of his cousin sled because his cousin had stopped. He looks up and he's yelling to get his cousin's attention, but his cousin had already pulled his rifle out of his scabbard and it's aiming it off in the distance. He can't see what his cousin is seeing the way the trees and everything were set up,

so he kills a snow machine. He grabs his rifle out of the scabbard and comes and joins his cousin, and his cousin's telling them, hey, over there, it's right over there. And Jacob was like, what's right over there? Are you thinking of wolves? Maybe something like that. He steps up onto the sideboard on the snow machine, and his cousin's pointing his rifle in the direction. That's when Jacob sees it in between these two trees, the big, dark,

hulking figure. He gets me it's about ten foot tall, because the spruce trees that they were dealing with were about twenty five is feet tall, and so knowing that, he was like, what the hell is that?

Speaker 3

And his cousin said harry Man.

Speaker 2

He wasn't arguing at that point because obviously it was a harry Man, and so as the Havid in this little standoff. Jacob said that all of a sudden they heard a very sharp, crisp, loud whoop from behind them, and he.

Speaker 3

Said it was so powerful it startled him.

Speaker 2

They both whipped around and there was nothing there, and then they turned back around and the other one was gone. So they're sitting there. His cousin's snow machine is still running and stuff. His cousin's yelling, let's get out of here, let's go. Jacob wasn't disagreeing at all, so he goes back over to this machine, fires it up. His cousin's leading the way back out the way they came, he said.

Once they cleared the tree line, his cousins circled around big and came back and was facing back towards the trees, and so he followed too, pulled up beside him, and they're both looking now. They were riding with their rifles across their laps. So his cousins standing up with his rifle and he's aiming through the scope, looking through trying to spot what they were just looking at a minute ago. Think of it as that they were looking in the

wrong area. Initially, they were looking at their tracks as they came out. Now, when they went into the woods, they went in a little ways and then they hooked hard off to the right, and everything happened further off to the right. But they're looking back, just straight ahead on the tracks they came out and went in and came out on. Jacob said that when he started scanning over to the right, that's when he saw one of them.

Speaker 3

He said.

Speaker 2

The one he saw was shaking a tree, and that's one of the things that caught his t He said. The tree was just like going back and forth, and it started cracking. The more and more of the harder swing it went, the louder it was cracking. That caught his cousin's attention, and he moves his cope over that direction. All of a sudden, it stops right Because Jacob wasn't looking at it through his rifle or anything.

Speaker 3

He was just.

Speaker 2

Looking with his naked eyes. He wasn't holding his rifle up like his cousin was. But when his cousin swung his rifle direction, it stopped, and this thing moved in between the trees, moving back and forth. His cousin was like, I've seen it. I've seen it. It looks like a man. And Jacob was like, wholla, we should just get out of here because the last thing we need is to

be dealing with a harry man. And he's in shock because he's heard stories and had relatives share certain encounters and stuff over the years, but he didn't dismiss it or discounted or not believe him. It was one of those when I see it with my own eyes, not that I don't believe you, but when I see it with my own eyes. So now he's in shock over what the hell.

Speaker 3

His cousin was like, we gotta go, we gotta get out of here.

Speaker 2

They need firewood, right, So it was I know, let's just go around this and go further about another five ten miles. There's another spot. We can click wood, avoid these things over here and still accomplish a mission. And his cousin was like, hell no. But Jacob of course to him to say, come on, we got we need the firewood. We got to keep our families warm, and his cousin couldn't really argue there, so out of necessity only and not out of necessarily desire. So they take

off heading to this other area. Now, from what Jacob said, the whole time they were on their way to this next area where they were going to be colleckeding the firewood and stuff, there was weird noises and snow machines are loud. I don't know if you guys have ever been on two stroke snumb machines, and even four strokes, they're loud, they're moving, they're engines. So as his cruising along,

he would hear noises every once in a while. But at this point they're in wide open tundra, snow just everywhere, snow the trees that they were dealing with before or far behind them. But he kept hearing these noises and he couldn't make it out as he was driving along at helmet on and everything. When they get up to this other area, his cousin stops shy up going into the trees for obvious reasons. He didn't want any kind of accidentally run into one of these things or.

Speaker 3

Anything like that.

Speaker 2

Right as they get up to this tree line, his cousin stops and he pulls out his rifle, and he's standing there and he goes, I don't know, maybe I should just stand watch when you cut the trees, load up, and then we'll switch and we'll do it like that.

Speaker 3

And so he agreed made sense.

Speaker 2

Jaco's like, yeah, let's do it like that, and so they decide that's the best course of action. So when Jacob pulls up, he doesn't go far into the trees at all. He just pulled around right there along the front edge, and they dropped a couple that were beetle killed right there at the edge, and then there was a few others spotted and darted back in between there. And so he went through and his cousin was right there behind him, constantly looking as he's dropping these trees.

He goes through and he limbs them and he starts bucking them up into about six foot sections. Now he goes through and he bucks them all up for because he's not going to just continue running the saw back and forth, turn on off and on all that. So he just runs through, bucks it all up, and all of a sudden, he's getting the first load. He's got one six foot log on his shoulder. He's just packing it back out, putting it on the sled, moving the

straps out of the way and stuff like that. His focus was getting the woods so they can get out of there. All of a sudden, he hears his cousin's rifle go off.

Speaker 3

Boom.

Speaker 2

Just startled the shit out of him. He said he'd never been startled like that in his life. He wasn't expecting it. There was no warning, no nothing, just bam.

Speaker 3

Gunshot.

Speaker 2

Two whips around, and his cousins had worked the action on the rifle, on the bolt action, and is like panning to his right, shoots again.

Speaker 3

Damn. And he starts screaming, hey, well, what's going on? What are you doing? And his cousins like it was over there, It was over there, It was looking up.

Speaker 2

Something like he was gonna throw it at me, and that's when I shot. So Jacob had nothing to say on that.

Speaker 3

What do you do? You know, we're going to defend yourself.

Speaker 2

After a second shot and they have that little discussion, they hear thrashing and crashing, and he said, did you hit it?

Speaker 3

And he goes, my first shot, I think I hit it real good.

Speaker 2

All of a sudden, way off in the distance, because these noises that were being made as this thing took off to the trees after the second shot and everything he said. It was demonic sounding, it was loud, it was powerful, and it was just on this weird kind of level where they felt it through their whole body. Even though it didn't seem like overly loud like a scream, it was very powerful and way off in the distance they heard a scream, like a real loud like air

raid siren type scream, and boom. They're like, lisz, get the hell out of here. So with just the two logs that he had loaded up, he's trying to strap them down so they don't fall out, and he's getting a saw loaded up and everything like that, and his cousin's fired up his snowb machine. Jacob jumps into his and fires it up. Now they've been running for a while. One of the issues was his cousin's snow machine typically would overheat, and there was an older Skindy we call

him Skid. Don'ts stay tuned for more sasquatch out to see we'll be right back after the east messages, so he had to stop as soon as they were turned around. They hadn't gone anywhere yet really, so as soon as he's turned around. All of a sudden, his cousin, snumb Mashine is overheating, so he's killed it, popped the calling he stone snow upon it, and Jacob was like, don't

cool it down too quick, you'll crack the block. They're having this discussion, but in the background, in the trees, there's this wicked noise.

Speaker 3

Going on, and Jacob said it.

Speaker 2

I almost sounded like death rows, but he wasn't sure because he didn't see his cousin shoot it. He didn't see where it was hit or anything of that nature. According to what his cousin was telling him when he was trying to cool off the snum machine. Because Jacob started questioning m like, hey, what the hell was it doing? He said it lifted up a log and was acting like he was going to throw it at me. And he goes, what kind of log? And he goes a

look like aspen or something in the birch. Random questions. He wasn't like interrogating him. He was just trying to get information As they're having that discussion.

Speaker 3

He asked him, are you sure you got a good hit on it? He goes, yeah, I shot it good in the chest.

Speaker 2

He said that when the bullet hit because he when he fired through the scope, he was only he only had a two seventy.

Speaker 3

But he said when he put.

Speaker 2

The scope back because of recoil, as soon as he got it back in position, he saw it leaning forward a little bit and he could see a patch of the hair missing from where it hit upper chest. And he said that's when it turned and and that's when he's seen it holding that log again and it took off running, and that's when.

Speaker 3

He took that follow up shot.

Speaker 2

So with that information, he saying there wondering, man, I wonder if this thing's over here dying. We're heard the screen from back wherever. We got to get a call for help. We can't just be sitting here. We gotta get going now. Understand, in the wintertime in Alaska, he only have sat amount of hours where there's daylight, and then you're traveling in the dark. We will get real sketchy, real fast. Like I say, it gets real fast right now.

And so they finally close off his machine. They're going back and forth about he's going to follow his cousin so his cousin's machine doesn't overheat on him, and he doesn't know it because he's hauling ass. He said, he's going to follow his cousin and they're just gonna go. They're gonna go back to the village. So they get on their way. Now, on their way back, they have to go right back past where they initially had the

first encounter and decided to go elsewhere. As they were going getting close to that area, his cousin's snow machine overheated. At this point, Jacob said his cousin needed to jump on, get in the sled or jump on the back of this. We're not staying. We'll come back for that. We'll come back for the machine. His cousin agreed. It's getting dark, the sun is set and it's getting the dusk, and.

Speaker 3

They're in a very bad area.

Speaker 2

So his cousin jumps on with him, has his rifle across his lap, and they take off right left a snow machine there. Took the perdinance stuff, saw and all that kind of stuff with him through it in the sled. But they take off. They get back to the village. There's no problem, nothing else happen. They just haul an ass. They got there the following morning. His cousin was going holl he wants this snow machine. Doesn't want to leave it out there in the village. You don't leave your

assets just everywhere. You got to go right back and get it. And so Jacob was like, hell, yeah, the clear out the sligh this, grab everything and we'll bring tools and make sure you got what you need. So they take off out of there. It's just as it got light enough outside right now. They shake off. They got traveling to do. So once you get back towards the area, they're not seeing a snow machine where it should be standing out by itself, just a little ways

off this tree line. It should be standing out in the snow. They're not seeing it, and they're seeing bits of something. So as they get closer, it's just getting light enough outside where they can easily see. When they get closer, the snow machine isn't there. There's bits and pieces of it and it's been drug over into the trees. He said, is twisted up beat the shit. It was upside down and there wasn't much salvaging on it. Everything was the tunnel of the track. Everything was just torn apart,

torn apart. They never found the sid that was attached to it. They found a couple of little binding pieces for it on the way over to the tree line. So his cousin lost his snow machine. It was cooked, no and they could do. What they did attempt to do is savage it, get it out of there. They didn't want to contaminating the woods or whatever. But as they were then they're trying to wrestle this destroyed snow machine in pieces and put it on the sled and try to strap it down and try to drag it back.

They heard this tremendous growl, and he said, this growl was so powerful that it almost made him lose control of his bladder. He almost wet himself because it was so powerful and just immediately hit him in his spirit, he said, and it freaked him out. His cousin was already armed, so they stopped wrestling the snow machine and they just left it. They decided they would tend to it another time with more people, so they got the

hell out of Dodge. Eventually went back. It was a couple of weeks later with three or four other the villagers. Everything was fine. They got all the junk out of there. I want to thank Jacob for reaching out sharing that I know it's been hit and miss, but I appreciate you, Jacob getting over this viral pneumonia bullshit.

Speaker 3

And it was miserable, but it'll be all right. Keep your eyes and ears out.

Speaker 2

We'll cut you guys on the next one.
