I greet you my dear friend in the name of our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ, the Creator of heaven and earth, your Savior and mine. I truly hope you're well. We are all familiar with the forth Commandment. The opening words say, "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy". What are we to understand by holy? Let's get a clue from Isaiah Chapter 40 reading verses 25 and 26. They say, to whom then will you like me or shall I be equal as the Holy One? God is referred to in verse 25
of Isaiah 40 as the Holy One. And the holy one is saying virtually, there is no one in the universe with whom I can be compared. By no one I mean a non- divine being, for the son Holy Ghost are like. Outside of them there is no one who can compare with God and so the holy one is virtually saying, I am so different. Not even the highest angels can be compared to me. And what is the basis of that difference? Verse 26, lift up thy eyes on high and behold who have created
these things, who made heaven and of course who made the earth. On the basis of creation. God establishes the fact that he is different. He is incomparable. There is no non-divine being that can be compared with God. He is Holy. That's really different. This holy God desires to have on earth a holy people who by following His standards and principles found in the Ten Commandments will lead the rest of the world to say what kind of people are they? And of course God has a
day called the Sabbath day. That is to be kept holy by these people. So nothing about that day will remind them of Sunday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday other than the fact that all days have sunrise and sunset. By listening friend, remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy as very as God declares himself to be different from all other non-divine beings. In that sense, he is holy. He calls upon us as a people to be holy different from the world. And this holy
people he tells to keep are holy day. Remember the Sabbath day. Keep it holy. My speech, my behavior, my dress, virtually everything about me on this holy day should be different from the other six days of the week. Remember the Sabbath day. Keep it holy. My dear friend, as you keep the Sabbath holy, as you reflect on what I have said, use my words, use Isaiah 40 25 and 26. Use Exodus 21:8 remember the Sabbath day to keep it
holy. And against this backdrop look at your Sabbath keeping. Perhaps you'll find you need to make some modifications in order to comply with God's requirement. The requirement of the Holy One who says, remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. You know God tells us we should be holy because he's holy. And because we're holy people who serve a holy God, we should keep a holy day. Different from all the other days.
May the Lord bless you beyond your imagination, my dear friend, and may he put his sweetest blessing upon your children. As you keep the Sabbath holy, as you keep the Sabbath different. God bless you.
