Ground crews have remained on scene overnight at Paechtown to monitor and extinguish hotspots throughout the scrub. The grass fire broke out around 10.30am Sunday and threatened homes and nearby vineyards before crews managed to get the blaze under control in the middle of the afternoon. The Hotel Elliot had to temporarily shut its doors on the weekend due to an electrical fire, costing $150,000 in damages.
