Welcome to season two of Ruthie's Table four. I'm Ruthie Rogers, the founder, chef and now podcaster of The River Cafe in London. Food is political, food is passion, food is art, Food is love. In this series, I will be talking with amazing people, hearing their food stories, discussing the role food plays in all their lives. Wolfgang Park has been defined by his experiences as a chef.
My stepfather said, cooking is not a profession, but I still remember when I left when I was fourteen years old, and as I was walking out their house, he said, oh, you're good for nothing. You're going to be back in a month's saying. I said, I'm never coming back.
Dame Judy Dench discusses her discovery that success in acting doesn't always translate into cooking.
My agent at the time he came down to lunch, I made an enormous effort and I gave him lamb cutlets. He finished the man he sat back and he said, well, I'll tell you something, Jude. You didn't get the nbe for cooking.
For Gwyneth Paltrow and her father, food was pure love because it was.
Such an unabashed expression of my father's love for us, like there was no denying it, and so you learn it as a love language.
Our guests will be from across the world, together with chefs and waiters who work every day at the River Cafe, sharing their stories, memories and their recipes.
I think the best thing about the River Cafe kitchen is about you coming in the morning and you don't know whether you're going to be on the grill or whether you're cooking pasta or cooking dovesols and pigeon in the wood ovens. That really keeps you on your feet, and that's why I've been here Nitty seven years now.
So listen to Ruthie's Table four on the thirteenth of December on the iHeartRadio app, an Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
