Over the last ten years, million fewer trips have been taken on l A buses. They've lost of their ridership. Now here are a few reasons. High rents are pushing low income people to more distant areas where they can't rely on busses. The law allowing illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses obviously means that more of them are driving cars instead of taking the bus. Plus, says The Times, a surge in the region's homeless population has sparked concerns
about safety and sanitation. Translation to that is, crime and filth on the buses is out of control, so residents are buying cars in record numbers.
