Episode description

Chris received his BA from Emory University in 2003 and his PhD from Purdue University in 2008. He edited Seemings and Justification: New Essays on Dogmatism and Phenomenal Conservatism (OUP 2013) and has published articles in Philosophical ReviewPhilosophical PerspectivesPhilosophical StudiesAustralasian Journal of PhilosophyPacific Philosophical Quarterly, and Religious Studies, among other venues. Before coming to W&M, he was a lecturer at the University of Auckland.

Chris is primarily interested in epistemology, philosophy of religion, ethics, and their intersection. Much of his work in epistemology, including religious epistemology, is devoted to developing and defending phenomenal conservatism: if it seems to someone that a claim is true, then they have a good reason to believe that claim. Much of his work in philosophy of religion examines the epistemological and ethical assumptions of the problem of evil.
