Romancing the Dungeon is a softcore D&D podcast about heroes navigating their daily lives while looking for love in a world full of peril, monsters, and heartbreakers. This show is intended for mature audiences as it contains adult themes. But like, you can listen to it with your friends. You can listen to stuff that's adult theme what your friends do anyway. Content warning for specific episodes can be found in the episode description. OK, let me grab my notes last

time on romancing the dungeon. You're a smart girl via Surely by now you've begun to put pieces together your mother. We are members of an organization known as the Tarot. Allow me to tell you the truth that your mother wasn't so willing to share. She killed Dreyfus Kyle. He was working for us. What are you doing? I'm going to kill you. And then you feel two hands grip you, and you come face to face with Una. You can't run from death, Empress. You don't have time. You have to run.

You hear the faint sounds of caravan wheels? Yeah, we got her. She's not in a good way. Are you lonely, miserable, or just plain horny? Well, you've taken the first steps to solving your problems, Ross. At least you're dating once, Ross. Welcome to D8 Devote, which I'm doing my bit. Devoted, desired dreamy earth dapper dates for dejected daters. My name is Roz Grapers. Yes, my name is. Oh my God, where the fuck have you been, King Killer?

Hello. Just in case anybody from the Gailshire City Army has been listening to this, that was a rehearsal for an audio drama that I'm taking part in. End scene. What would you do to survive all of? This I would do everything in my power to survive. You can feel her words ringing around your head. Thea. You can hear the boom of Thunder, the heat from flashes of lightning. You feel yourself struggling in the dark. And then you can just hear someone calling out her name. Thea.

Thea. Hey. Hey, Thea. Yeah. Wake up. Yeah. Fear. You're all right. It's it's it's just us. She. I think she's having another nightmare. Someone kind of like, just grabs you by the shoulders and just starts violently shaking you. I read this in a book. It's supposed to be really good. Just get up. Kind of just nearly falling into her shakes like just like my body's still loose from being like probably just asleep.

My head's just like flapping back and forth, my eyes like oh God, stop shaking me. No, she's not quite awake. Stop shaking me. You're almost there. You're almost there. I don't need to wake up, let me sleep. Fear. And it's that you, the voice, you recognize it. You remember as everything kind of the world kind of slipped away from you, you heard them shouting at you, the the trembling of the cartwheels, the skidding on the muck, the faint recollection of Nana just bounding towards you.

And as your eyes, as the vision kind of focuses, you can see that she's the one that's holding you by the shoulders and just shaking you. It's OK. I'm. I'm awake. You can stop shaking me, Nana. I'm awake. See, I told you we were work, Sykes, and it's just just a from Sykes. You're indoors, it's small, it's a little cramped, smells a bit musty. Nana is on the bed, Sykes is at her shoulder, leaning in,

looking at you as well. Both look a little tired just behind Sykes. It's not the mountain of dishes soaking in the tub that catches your eye. It's not the tattered curtains shielding the window. There's just a set of eyes in the dark looking at you. My eyes were kind of half bleary from being shaken awake, but I think catching a glimpse of those eyes, my eyes really just open up really bright awake now at that stage.

Good boy, Rash. Sykes kind of just puts his hand on Rash's head as the large hound just kind of doesn't. He doesn't snap at you, but he kind of shakes his head out of the dark and there's just slobber slashes onto the wall. His ears kind of flop back and forth. The room you're in starts to shake a little bit. It's like he really likes you Via. Does he? Because I feel like he would have very good reason not to. Rash doesn't hold on to grudges, do ya, Rash? Do ya, Rashi?

And, and she just immediately kind of like off the bed, she kind of grabs him by the neck and kind of with the, the collar, she kind of pulls him in and like she literally starts kind of giving him a noogie. All the while he's just staring at you. Hi boy. Yeah, I deserve that. The wagon stops. The room starts shaking. Are you all right? You were in. I mean, we saw you in some fairly bad states, but that that was something else for you. Yeah, no, I'm not OK, but don't know.

I'll be fine. You don't need to worry. I'll be fine. Sorry if I woke you if you're sleeping. No, we've just been set here, watching you, tendon to you. That's not creepy, but OK. Well, somebody had to, you know, change the the wet cloth on your head. Somebody had to get a little soup into. You. That's really sweet actually. Thank you. Yeah, Rash is a real good nurse mate. Again. His eyes have not lifted off you at all. At all.

I kind of slowly reach out just the back of my hand towards him. There's you see just one of his like his lip just lift a little as he shows a little tooth. I take my hand back. The best of friends the two years. Yeah, sure. Not for Not in Iraq and boat there was two years. At least, that's what we were told, anyway. When I say it says this color kind of drains from my face a little bit and I do become a little bit more somber not making eye contact.

Nana just lets it linger there. Like it's just this thing of like I, it's like you've had that kind of sudden realization of oh God, what's happened to Una, What's happened to my mom? It's that thing of you remember the last few words that you screamed at each other, and in that moment when it seemed as if this was it, she came back. And now you've no idea where she is or if she's even alive. And I think a little bit of like, I don't think Thea has worked out yet whether she cares

or not. That's where a lot of the confusion and somberness and withdrawal from that statement is kind of coming from. Yeah. I don't know where Una is. Una yeah, that's what they yeah, they said. Una yeah, that's who we were supposed to be meeting. Didn't bloody know there was you that was going to be the other person. Yeah, yeah, she's my mother. Right. And two of you are just on a bit of a holiday and you're looking to get into Visage. Sure. Yeah, yeah. You are an absolutely terrible

lawyer. I I don't want to talk about it. You can see she was taking something out of her pocket and there's just from Sykes and Nana picks up on the OK. I won't be showing you The Wanted poster then. I've already seen it, yeah. So you kind of. Yeah, it is. You look at it, you're like, oh fuck no, we're not doing this again. Yeah. So how have you been? How's fame? How's that? What should I call him? Tall, lanky fella, Streak of piss, Greasy. Good for finger in the owl loot.

Nate. Nate, That's it. He's had an interesting few months. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's been dead and then alive again, but then not alone anymore. As for saying I haven't seen same since Tezra. That's thing. He breezes in, he breezes out. And what about that? What about that little, you know, I mean, Nana's kind of blushes. Fester. Yeah. What about a what about a fester? How How's how's she doing? Do I I pick up on this? Obviously. Give me an insight check.

Like, I mean, it's. Yeah. You've seen the flush on her cheeks at 12. Yeah. Only in that sense of, oh, I recognize that look. Hmm. You recognize the. I can't say their name. You've read that in a book. Yeah. If you're asking about your crush, you never ask. You never come out with because you don't want to be too obvious. About it, you don't want to be too forward and like yes. Yes, so you're right, you see the telltale signs of a. Attempted subterfuge, yes.

Yeah. Oh, the heavies, heavies good still, you know, fiery. Good. I mean great. That's that's good. Good for her. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think. I think they're still in Gale chair. I hope they're still in Gale chair. Oh no, I hope they're not still in Gale chair. You haven't been talking then. I haven't, no. And then she goes take out the scrap of paper again. I've seen it before, yeah. Oh, OK, I get it. I get it.

I mean, because there is you, you see as like Sykes just kind of leans in, just gives her a look. He doesn't say anything. He just gives her a look. OK, I won't ask any questions then. I mean, how close does anybody get to a King killer? No offense. No offense attended. I'm sure. I'm sure you had it coming. I didn't do it. I believe you. No, you don't. Yeah, but I feel like if I say I don't believe that, you might kill me. I won't kill you because I didn't kill him.

Right, because I believe you. I can understand not believing me, but I didn't do it, so yeah, not really. So who did? Fear really shuts up though. You're just no matter if she wants to say it or not. A little time passes. Nana tries to weaponize silence and the awkwardness a lot. It's a great interrogation technique, but. I start getting sweaty and then. Give me a OK, no, I'm not. I'm not going to, I'm not going to put that down a roll. If you wouldn't say it, then

she's not going. To no yeah, I think what what I got to try and do is deflect. I'd be like so Nana, I couldn't help but notice you getting a little bit flustered when asking me about my friend. Oh, it's me. Allergies. Yeah, I've been saying it. I've been saying to Sykes for forever. Are you allergic to having a crush? Crush. Yeah, yeah. What's that? Somebody's outside calling my name? I have to go to them and assist? Oh, good luck for you. I mean you've, you've only met

Sykes like a handful of times. You've never seen the guy smile and there is just this wicked grin on the side of his face. As Nana turns red. There's almost a heat emanating off of her. It's like. Yes, yeah, it's the I must go now. And she does. She gets up and she bangs into the counter across the way. Oh, oh, that's not the outside door. This is the outside door and she

kind of stumbles towards you. Rest up, although you've probably rested enough as it is. But if you feel like wondering, you let Sykes know and we have to introduce you to our employers. OK. All right. Goodbye, then forever. And she just, yeah, she's out the door and outside. You just hear a yeah. I feel a little bit of relief now after having deflected a little bit and also, I guess a little bit of joy of seeing like, because that's cute.

That is really just really cute someone having a crush. And I think that's for the first time in in like since everything happened, that fear has felt a little joy and then a little bit of guilt creeps in again because of the situation she's now in and being shown The Wanted poster again and seeing the position now that her friends have put themselves in because of something none of them did or had any input in. Sorry, dice are all the way over.

There. Uh Oh, no. Fear as you watch Nana kind of like escape out the the door and there is there is a small rush of uh, kind of cold air that comes in with it. There's you can hear music. You can hear kind of people talking. There's a faint smell of like maybe pine branches burning. You can kind of get you can get kind of a smoke and a kind of a

pine smell. Door shuts and it is just you and Sykes and rash in there and as you are kind of dwelling on the thought and the that little spark of joy that it's just it's it's always just been 1 of Thea's favorite things to like that. We started collecting personal ads those little missed connections those little moments of romance. Seeing that feeling, it brings a kind of a kind of a. I suppose a little. Warmth. Yeah. To our heart. Yeah.

And there is that moment. And then that then immediately kind of fills with a little bit of guilt. All the while, Sykes is just staring at you. Rash is now kind of nudging at where your feet are on the bed again, at the blanket. He's full on, like trying to hoof the mattress a little bit. Sykes just gives you a nod. A very knowing nod. I just kind of look at him a little bit and I think he can see like how upset I am. And there's there is a couple of tears like coming out of my eyes

and stuff. And I just kind of wipe them away and I move my feet because of rash nudging there. And I go to sit up and see like, how much of myself have I regained? Because I have been so I guess, downtrodden the past few days. I'm taking it slow to see how I'm fixed. In that moment, like as you kind of pull your feet closer to you and Rash scrambles onto the bed, he's now taking up 2/3 of it as you kind of pull your knees up to your chest. It's that thing of as you pull

your knees, you're like oath. There's no pain. There's a little stiffness, but there's no pain. You're you feel energy. You feel kind of that lightness to you kind of return. And then just in front of you, you see that Sykes is holding out a small piece of cloth like a like a handkerchief to you, just to kind of up in front of your face. I take it off and wipe my face and give him a little nod. He oh, he's turned away. Like the second you take it, he just kind of, he looks away.

That's a private thing. That's a private moment. I get up out of the the cot that I'm in. I I like, am I still in my gear? I just pretty much was just passed out. It is a thing of like, as you kind of look down you, you are wearing kind of like very, very baggy, kind of like trouser bottoms and like a kind of a very heavy kind of smock nighty type get up. And as you kind of look at yourself, Sykes just kind of tips his head and they're on an overflowing basket of laundry.

You see your gear? I kind of, I take it up, give it a little. Sniff. It's awful. It stinks. It is wet. It is musty. It is covered in muck, blood. You can see parts of it have been tattered, parts of it have been scorched. If there's is there any still of like say like the the the the leather parts that I could take off to maybe tighten the kind of smock and thing I'm wearing now maybe? Yeah, it, I mean, it's not in tatters, but it's clearly

damaged. Like it's like in terms of like if you want to talk mechanics, you've lost a point of AC. Like it's you'd need to get it repaired or buy a whole new thing. But you can still put it on as you go to move. There is just a whistle from Sykes as he moves towards the door. He pulls a small little lever. Door opens and you see that where there were stairs, a platform has now kind of extended outwards. Looks over his shoulder, Rash is

making no effort to move. In fact, Rash has buried himself in the mattress and is under the blanket chewing on the pillow that you slept at. I guess I'll I'll try and see what I can wrangle from it. So I just I put on what I can of it. I mean, you look like you've been through the wars, like it's, you'd like, it's not pristine, it's not clean. It is a bit rank in terms of smell, but you are able to put it on like, and it does. It's you're not, nothing's exposed.

Like, yeah, when I said, you know, it's been scorched and ripped and stuff like that. You can feel the wind on you. Yeah, occasionally. But like it's still holding together. I suppose I kind of gonna check my pockets. I'm gonna check what I still have in terms of items on me. I know I I probably have like I still have the daggers, but other stuff. You don't have your weapons. OK. Small little bits and pieces that you might have been storing in like a little pouch on your belt.

Yeah, have those. Now that I'm kind of dressed, I kind of like, I want to be useful to Nanan Sykes. That's what's in my head right now. So like whatever kind of job we're going to do, I'm going to do and maybe get a few coins for myself and get a bit better gear again. There is just kind of a wrap on the door. You decent fear and she opens the door already. Jesus. Kind of Jesus, it's fine. He's come up a lot, actually. Recently I've been putting people in weird situations.

We have to figure out what Jesus is in this world. But you've. Yeah, it is a thing of like she knew by the sound of you that, you know, she she waited as with second Dad, she kind of half chuckles to herself as she pulls the door open. You you can just see out now. Before it was just the light that kind of caught your eye from the corner, but now you can kind of look out. You're in some sort of encampment. You can see a couple of brightly colored tents, but mostly these

sort of wagons. They're a little, they remind you when you see them. It's that thing of like, it's like the dad's wagon, that little kind of travelling merchant's stall that he had like and, and all those memories you've been dwelling on. And you can see how there is a smattering of people all over the place. There's music filtering in from somewhere.

The cold has kind of come in. You look down, you see Nana Sykes and kind of behind them you see 2 Haflings close to kind of middle age, maybe, maybe in their late 40s, early 50s, both wearing very, very kind of like extravagant bright colored

clothes. The man is wearing a waistcoat with a a very high colored shirt, like the it's like an oversized collar and everything is bedazzled and there's like buttons and badges and all kinds of pins and brooches stuck in it. The waistcoat is this green and black and white mixed stripe kind of pattern, and the shirt sticks out under it. He has a coat hanging on his shoulders that's fur lined. And he's he's wearing these quite kind of like these kind of like, you know, the balloon

pants stuff. Yeah, balloon pants. And he kind of, he kind of cocks you a smile and you see this kind of dusty brown hair. He has the most beautiful eyes you have seen that they're just chocolate. You can see quite clearly, like kind of a 5:00 shadow. You know, it's not from it's well maintained. Like there's a like we, we don't have a beard, but we have The Mirage of a beard. Like it gives us a read.

It gives him this really gorgeous chiseled jawline, quite well built, kind of seems to maybe take care of himself. Yeah, yeah. Even for a man kind of into his like kind of like late 40s, early 50's, the woman standing next to him, her hair is kind of pulled up, wrapped around a scarf and from it there are kind of a load of Bengals and stuff kind of hanging from it. The hair is pulled back up into

braids. You see that she has just this wonderfully dark olive skin, 1 green and 1 blue eye looking up at you and both are smiling. She's wearing a dress pulled in and cinched at the waist with the corset. The corset matches the same color and pattern in his waistcoat. The dress is very, very form fitting and yet the sleeves are just billowing. It's just, it's this really sort of whimsical gown. They're both kind of standing there looking up at you.

There is just a Oh yeah, right. So Thea, this is me, boss Ronnie and this is me, other boss Claudine. Ronnie and Claudine, this is Thea. You know her mam in age. You're you're you're going to get them from Gilshire into that's enough. That's enough. Nana, why don't you help yourself to some lunch? Why don't you take Sykes and

grab a bite to eat? Thank you so much for taking care of our dear guest, Thea And the the woman kind of steps forward and kind of like goes to lift, like hold a hand up for you to kind of come down out of the, the the wagon. I do step down slowly with like an awkward smile on my face meeting these new people. As you kind of come down, she gives you kind of a very sort of quick embrace and she does kind of an air kiss. Absolute pleasure to have you

here. As dear friend Nana said, my name is Claudine Moonshine and this absolutely gorgeous gentleman. Keep your eyes off of him. He's married and she holds up her right hand and you can see it's a very oversized heavy ring, like it's chunky and it's kind of beset then with this green jewel. And she goes, I saw those eyes when you laid them on my dear, dear Ronnie. And then he kind of steps up.

He does kind of 1/2 bow and his back leg kind of goes forward and his right arm kind of rolls towards you and you see a very similar looking ring. He takes your hand and he just presses his lips against the back of your hand. He's definitely wearing lip balm. He definitely maintains himself. Oh, you are so welcome. Welcome, welcome. Welcome to our little community, our little covered, our little artisan creative space. Thank you so much for trusting us to take you to safety.

Thank you for helping me. Oh, not at all. Not for a fine, beautiful young girl such as yourself and of course, your mother. Just as beautiful. Just. And there's yes, Ronnie, yes, absolutely beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. Thea, you are probably starving and you are probably ravenous for some answers as well. We can give you both. Sure, Nana mentioned something about helping you guys out.

She's nothing if not direct, is Nana How that's that's a character trait that we absolutely love in her, yes. Your mother didn't explain this to you. No. So you don't know what this is. No. And you surely you recognize and she kind of gestures to some of the caravans You, you travelled in one of these. Yeah. Not with us like your father, Ferris. He Forest, Yeah. With, with with yes. Forest. Of course, forest. I I too kind of remember it, but not really.

Well, he purchased one off of us many, many years ago. You know well before the. The he's. Passing. Yeah. I think I've made it awkward, I apologise. No, it's OK. I've I've been thinking about him a lot lately so. I can imagine. It's nice to, I guess, to meet people who knew him. Yes, he and your mother were dear friends of Ronnie and I, and he's still holding your hand. She gives him an eye and he lets go of Garcia. Oh, your Papa. Oh, such a fine mental man.

Just the absolute vision in him. He could see the value in everything. Oh, absolutely wonderful gentleman. So sad to lose a man of such taste. Yeah, it was. It was quite tough. Come, come, come, come. Let us fill your belly. Yes, Claudine, we will get lunch, we will have, we will have some wine. And why don't we tell you a little bit about your father, forests, and all of the wonderful things? Actually, I would really like to hear about them, yes.

Kind of letting go of your hand, Claudine, you see she pulls up the dress and she's wearing, she's wearing really nice boots. The, the ground is wet. Uh, it's covered in muddy looking snow and you can see various kind of wheel tracks in the centre of this little encampment. There is a small fire burning and there are people kind of gather around it. All of them smile.

A lot of people wave at you and you pass a couple of these different kind of wagons and tents and they're leading you towards kind of the opposite end of where you were in a moment ago under this kind of larger tent. Everyone, everyone, if I could just have your attention for Petit, Mama and Claudine, just kind of like, I'm so sorry.

He loves an entrance. The whole time while they were walking and when everyone's smiling, like I kind of have been holding myself, you know, to wake with you just with like all those eyes, just that you just hold yourself to sue, like to just like shrink. Yeah, it's kind of like protecting yourself, guarding yourself. And I, oh, everyone's looking at me and I'm uncomfortable.

And this is just just like my, my head has really kind of shrunk down, like my shoulders have come up to just kind of be like, I'm just really awkward right now being introduced to all these people. I don't know. There's about 15 people. Some are set at a long bench. A a few are kind of around kind of smaller little tables. One or two are sitting on their own.

They all seem to be having a bit of food in the back you can, you can see Nana Sykes and Rash and they have kind of gathered up a couple of different plates of food along one side of the tent. There is a more robust looking wagon set up from there. Then you can kind of see the hiss of steam kind of escaping out. You can clearly hear the sizzling and crackling of fat in oil and that there there is kind of a gurgling sound in your stomach.

Oh well, it seems that their stomach wants to speak for the lady. Everybody, may I introduce you to the lovely Fear Burbage? That's your cute bow. Just kind of give a tiny little bow. Everyone just starts clapping. There's clapping and cheering. Ronnie loves an entrance and they love meeting new people. It's all it's, it's I'll explain. Can I can I get you a plate of food? Yeah. Like, I'm feeling kind of worried right now because, like, do these people know what Via

has been accused of? Like, she's very unnerved by the fact that they're all being so nice and not look like, you know, the way you'd always kind of see people, like, making, like, a side eye at someone who is like, hmm. Yeah. Like this one should not be around us right now. It's like she's not seeing any of that, is she? It's just pure niceness. Everyone, everybody, like, people are kind of waving. It's like, hey, Thea. It's just making her even more

and more unnerved. Two Ganassi women wearing these long kind of flowing robes that are at ones wearing all black with kind of a gold trim. And there is a Crescent moon clearly stitched in gold fabric. You see kind of just wisps of fog rolling off of her, her hair, just this blustering kind of cloud. She smiles at you. And then immediately, kind of on her tail, there's a woman wearing an identical outfit, but it is brilliant white. And there is just this black kind of shiny trim around the

edges. And she has a sun emblazoned on her. Her hair is just this sort of wave of sea foam that just kind of cascades over the back into this mound of curls. And you see kind of just her eyes are just just this swirling pools. And both have just this really kind smile as they pass. It's like, welcome Via. I'm Nixie. This is Willow. Nixie being the air Ganassie and Willow being the water Ganassie. Maybe we can get you on the ropes later. Girls, please.

We haven't even told her what we're doing. The ropes. They're a little enthusiastic. They always love well when somebody they've they have imaginations, don't worry. And the girls kind of giggle to themselves and they both wave goodbye to you as they head out the tent. Give. A tiny little wave back with a big look of confusion on my

face. Ronnie, uh, some, some food and, and Claudine kind of, kind of takes you by the arm, like she's kind of cupping your elbow a little bit and she leads you to, uh, the top of that long table. And again, people are kind of as you go, as you sit down, people wave at you and a an orc gentleman kind of comes up and puts down a carafe of wine. I kind of make like when everyone I'm looking around at everyone being like really nice to me.

I do make eyes over at Nana and Sykes and I'm like, what the fuck is going on? Kind of like look on my face. Nana has a face full of bacon, like she literally you just see bacon. Her cheeks are full. Rash has the exact same thing. They look like hamsters with just gorged cheeks. Cute. And Sykes just gives you kind of a nod. And then just like an awkward smile, kind of turn back then to

the people I'm sitting with. OK, before Ronnie gets back and starts to spin every which way, story left, right and do be kind. But kindness has its limits. I've always said that. So if he starts to bore the ear off of you, tell him to shut up. Oh, gosh. Tell him Claudine said to shut up. OK, OK. Oh, how? Well, let me fill in the gaps that he's just going to. He's just going to dig for you. I'm Claudine. He's Ronnie. And you are currently at our encampment for the Phyllite Cabaret.

You haven't heard of us? That's fine. I can see by your expression. Don't worry. But no, it's fine. We're a travelling troupe. We travel between Galeshire, Visage, Rothoham, really wherever the winds take us and where there's coin to be made, uh, wherever the coin takes us. And hopefully that's where the wind takes us, because that sounds a bit more poetic. Umm, I hope this question doesn't come across as rude, because it's not, but it's just why are you being so nice to me?

I don't understand. I mean, if you've travelled, you've obviously seen. Oh, the king business. Yeah. But honestly, you didn't do it. Well, I I didn't, but no one what? Oh, we're not from Galeshire. I I know, but like no one has believed me. Sweetheart, so I'm sorry. Just look around. Just take a breath.

It's just. So unnerving to have people believe that I didn't do it. She points to a furball woman inside the wagon where the food is being prepared and you see Ronnie is just piling up, kind of like toast and pastries. That's Dana. Dana is running from seriously mean and unscrupulous debt collectors, debts that are not hers. Debts a former friend took out in her name. Did you see that dwarven gentleman below? I turn my head.

Framed by his employers for an accident in a mine at the Giant's Fingers. Everybody here has a story via Everybody here has a shadow, something that chases them, something that haunts them. Nobody's here to judge you. And for what it's worth, the king was a prick. And I'm not saying you did it, but he was a prick. You just I just full on start bawling crying. In front of her. No, please, no. It's it's it's one thing I can't do. I can't stand tears. This is a fete.

This is a reverie. There should be. If there's tears, there are tears of laughter and tears of joy. Are those tears of joy? They're just tears of being overwhelmed, I guess. OK, well, just put those up. Not no. I'm sorry. No, no, no. And I don't like apologies either. We don't apologise and we don't cry unless we're happy. I don't know what I am right now, it's been so hard the last while Do. You know what you are? You are Fiat Burbidge. That is what you are.

You were all the things that came before. You were all the things now, and you were all the things that you could be. Look at me philosophizing. And we haven't even had brunch. OK, right. And she just, she kind of like, and you see, he's not, he's been flirting away with Dana. Of course. Dana is looking really uncomfortable and really awkward. And he kind of turns.

He's like, oh, and he comes up with the kind of plates of little foods and like there's sausages and fried eggs and there's just little bits of everything. It's not mountains of food. It's just little bits of everything. Ah, please tuck in questions so. How well did you know my dad? We travelled a little bit. That's kind of how we know your mother and believe it or not, it was actually a forest that we knew first. All bunk mates were Ronnie in the military?

My dad was in the. Military, Yes. You're half Visagian. You. Your father is from Visage. What? Oh, OK. I, I'm sorry, I, I, I assumed you knew that. No. We could be blood, you and I, we could be family. And Ronnie slurps back a cup of wine. I don't know too much about my dad, except as my dad, I don't really know about him. What do we know about our parents anyway? He and Ronnie served in the Visagine empire. After they got out, they did a

little bit of travelling. That's where Ronnie and I met, and I wouldn't say this to Una. And you see? She puts her hands over Ronnie's ears. It was actually your father who I thought. First, let's have. A little giggle, giggle at that. And he kind of like shakes her off. Yes, yes, yes. I'm kind of waving a sausage on a fork at you. So we travelled a little bit, we dabbled a little bit, we swam a little bit. Your father, not a great swimmer, but a great Hagler.

We got the little book going behind us. We travelled a little more. He, Claudine, myself, your mother, she joined us a little on the road. It was a wonderful, marvelous time. And then, well, poof. Poof. Oh, they they left your father. He had all these aspirations of a family, a life to settle down. Did did my father Ronnie, if you if you worked with him, did he have any family in Visage? And you see him kind of, he's scarfed on that sausage. Claudine kind of like shuffles a little.

They died in the war with Gilchar. There was an attack. There was so much loss on both sides. Is that what inspired him to join the army? That and the conscription, the Empress, she where there's a will, there's a way, and it's always her will, so it's always her way. Wow, I'd say that was tough on all of you. I coasted. Oh no, I'm not. Oh no, don't get mistake. I'm kind of, I'm here, I'm there. I'm kind of a little all over

the place. Sorry I just stuff that's happened recently has made me a lot more curious about my dad. That's understandable. We want to know where we came from. If we know where we came from, we know where we are going. Yes. Yeah. And you are going home. What? No, no, No. Oh, and like Claudine kind of like hits him. Visa. He meant Visa. She was trying to be poetic. He's not the poetic kind. We're taking you to Visaj. That's where Una there's a there's a safe house. Oh, OK.

She explained nothing to you. No. Typical Una. And she kind of rolls her eyes. Is it? I wouldn't know. Oh, spit it out. She hasn't been in my life. I don't know her as my mother. But you know her as a person, no? I don't even think I do. She's always been the mysterious kind. She's she means well, always has. She just has a tendency to bumble through things. It's kind of what your father liked about her. I break eye contact with them at that point and then kind of go

back to eating. They do the same. They're the kind of look, the little sip, they talk this kind of do you like the food you want anymore? The kind of the pleasantries. You see a lot of the other people that in the kind of canteen area have kind of filtered out now as well, even Nana Sykes and Rash. They want to know how you know them. So it's just kind of a lot of this kind of catching up. You learn a little bit more about the the Fae Light Cabaret

they have. They've travelled all over the world. That's where all these buckles and badges and broaches and everything that are, they're like little souvenirs, just like someone who puts magnets on their fridge. Or like. Ronnie collects these things. People with camper vans with stickers from places they went to. Sort of, yeah. It's it's those little like they don't say, you know, I went to wrote the ham and all I got was

this button. Actually one of them does, but most of them they, they look quite nice. They're like little lovely little piece of jewelry, little little accessories. That's us. And it's nice to know a little bit more about you. That brother of yours sounds like he takes after your mother a little bit more. You definitely have your father's eyes and personality, thankfully. And the tourism kind of chuckle to themselves, not in a mean way

where they kind of have that. Like they seem to like forests more than they liked. Una, you've kind of got this from them. It's just. Just just cues, little cues. Are picking up. Una seems to be aloof with everybody, not just you. Yeah, there is that kind of like little banter, back and forth, sharing memories. They'd never met you, but there would be the odd bit of correspondence that would have

filtered out through the years. Una would have stayed in touch even after Forrest's passing, so she contacted them. Looking to help get you into Visage. So about that we are happy to help of course, but you understand we are taking a risk sheltering you. Yeah, yeah. With that, everybody at everybody in this troop contributes and I appreciate you've already said that you want to be involved and thank you. We have a job. Never mind the ropes. The girls are aerial dancers.

We have a, we have a job that we think you would be absolutely perfect for. And she kind of again, she, she goes to stand up. Dana, thank you as always wonderful And Dana kind of just kind of nods at her and Claudine kind of goes to leave and move out. Uh, Ronnie follows and then kind of gestures for you to go in front. I, I get up as well and I, I, I give Dana a little smile and a wave as like a thank you as well. Tell me, Fiat, how could it?

You disappear and Claudine leads you into a wagon and the door slams shut behind you. And that's where we'll leave the episode. One was singing and fighting for each other. Darkness comes like the light, and we must be the light. I won't feel you are still strong and defending. You've been listening to Romancing the Dungeon, Amber. Sam. Nope. Wait, this is just Louise and me. Declan here. Dungeon Master title card artwork is by Daisy Designs.

Our theme song Fight for Each Other is by Steve Tynan and Abby Soiree. And yeah, I've still split the party. Everybody, I'm. We're still, we're here. We're still doing it. I'm still doing it. I'm so sorry. I'm not sorry. It's the 6th of May. And we've just scheduled the penultimate recording session for this campaign. Yep, that's a gut punch. Anyway, if you want to see me reveal more things, no, that's

what. If you want to see more behind the scenes stuff, you can check us out on social media. DA Dungeon. We would love wherever you're listening to this to leave a comment, leave a thumbs up, a quick review, pass it on to a friend. All of those little bits and pieces really help us reach a wider audience. So thank you so much. I'm so proud I haven't recorded an outro in apparently 50 years and I forgot now it works. That's it for me.

I'm going to shut up. Hopefully we'll see you over on our Discord. You can check out the link for that in our episode description. That's it. We're back in two weeks time for more data and stuff. Because I did. We did change in the thing. Are those clothes still around anywhere?

Yeah, okay, sorry. As you. No, I've dumped them now. Sorry. That's what you get for interrupting me. I've fucked them in the river. Go get them.
