We talked to the Kansas City native about her career as a former lawyer turned high school teacher, planner obsessions, and life as both an indie and traditional romance writer. In addition, we tackled the nuances of pitching your work, "pigeonholing" Black romance, and how to move through the fear and live your wildest dream. Her next release, Never Cross a Highlander (Entangled), about a Black Scottish warrior, will debut December 2021.
