Episode description

America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, tackles the age old question: "Can Money Buy Friends?" Psychologists, Scientists and other medical professionals have argued this point for decades, but now one place has found the solution. In 2009 the company Rent-a-Friend was introduced, and changed the way people engaged. It is available worldwide and offers everything from shopping with a hired friend, hot air ballooning, or even attending a prom. 1 in 3 people say they feel socially isolated, even more going forward beyond 2020. Memberships start around $24.95 per month to have access to the site while others can create profiles and lease themselves out from $10 - $50 dollars per hour. But is this truly healthy for the future of our planet? True friendship spawns from an organic encounter. People finding similar interests and slowly nurturing its growth. When one rents a friend, they already know its not organic nor genuine, but instead, an employee clocking in to their job and working a shift to fake as someone's friend for the night.
