And we continue on streaming live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, Fred Rogan and Rodney petewhere sports Yeah everywhere. Hey, download the world, take the app wherever you go, take the show wherever you go. We're with you. And if you miss any part of the show, you can always download the podcast. We put it up the minute we get off the air. All right, Dodgers of Miami, back at it again tonight. Let's welcome on David Massey, Dave, good afternoon to you. Hey, good to hear

from you. Guys. I stayed by my phone twenty four to seven until you call me. Ah, that's what I'm talking about, Dave. Hey, you took a break from Clipper Talk today, God didn't Hey didn't we need one? I guess? So? Yeah, I think we did. Yeah, Yeah, with all due respect Adam, Yeah, I think we needed a little break from that. We needed to get back to this. Dave, tell us if you'll gooy or disagree with this, and we kicked

it around earlier. It's weird. It's just a feeling a perception watching but you're there every day, so you know, to me, to us, it doesn't seem like Freddy Freeman is Freddy Freeman. He doesn't seem as happy as he's been in the past. Are we just looking at something here and

making something up or do you sense that? No, my interactions with him, he's not happy with the way his season has gone so far, and other players would be ecstatic to be hitting three hundred producing the runs that he's producing, But he just has not been happy since the end of spring training with the way his swing has been going. And I believe he's still trying

to search for that feel, for that consistency that he hasn't had. And like I said, he's sitting three hundred, but he's still not happy. So it's not your perception and my daily interactions with him, he's just not satis. And when he's not satisfied and not happy with his swing, he's not in a great mood. So it's not anything other than him not playing

up to hit what he feels his standards are. Because there was some suggestions that maybe, you know, just the environment and him might be in, you know, kind of the lost guy in the situation right now with Otani and Mookie having a such a fast start. It's more about him not hitting or not performing the where he wants to be, without a doubt, Rodney. Actually, I personally believe Will Smith is the lost guy. Nobody ever talks about him, and he probably is the third best hitter on the team

right now. I feel like, if you're going to talk about anybody being lost in the shuffle, it's Will Smith who plays the most amending position on the field and also is killing it as a hitter for the Dodgers behind those first three hitters. But as far as Freddy goes, no, this is just about him, his swing and how he's I wouldn't say frustrated, but certainly not satisfied for where he believes he should be right now. Hey, Dave, we looked at it like this walker Buehller got out there, pitched,

walked off, didn't get hurt. To me, it's just like spring training for him. Should anybody have expected anything more? No? Actually, a few of his teammates asked me, how long do you think Buehler's going to go tonight? And I said five. They're like, Wow, you're really putting a lot on that. More realistic it would be four innings, and that's what it turned out to be. Because he looked like a guy

that hadn't pitched in two years. And I'm not sure if you guys caught this during the Sports and at LA broadcast when Clayton Kershaw joined Oral and Joe and they were talking about just Kershaw was giving his analysis that the secondary pitches, the off speed pitches, just were not up to par for Buehler last night and that's going to be a process for him to get that. But

the fastball obviously was really good. But what Kershaw and Hersheiser were saying was it was the slow stuff, the off speed stuff that needs to continue to get better, and it will with the more time that he's on the mound. And is it Dave the way that the Dodgers are playing, especially offensively right now, allowing him to work on things to get him back to the

form that we've seen and know that he can have. That's a pretty good luxury where he doesn't have to go out feel like he has he's got to keep a team to one run and can't give up anything. He can go out, as Fred mentioned earlier, and have his own kind of spring training. Does that help him? Without a doubt, Rodney, not just him, but everybody else on the staff, it's a lot easier to pitch with a three, four run lead than it is to be concerned about whether or

not your offense is going to score a run that night. So it isn't just exclusive to Buehler. That's the way the entire starting staff has been pitching over the course of the last fourteen games because the Dodger offense has been averaging close to seven runs per game. So it just makes things a lot easier and easier for a pitcher like James Texton, for instance, to not try to be so fine, but to throw more strikes, and even if they hit the ball, you know you got good defense right now behind you,

and your offense is scoring close to seven runs per game. So it's not just Buehler, it's everybody in the rotation the way they're pitching free and easy with that offense, Dave, So, everybody that watched the Angels new how good O'toni was, and if you didn't watch the Angels, you run about how good he was and the excitement that was generated when they signed him to

the gigantic deal they did. You're out there every single day, you see the fans, you feel the energy home and road from a fan perspective, Is it all about o'toni that way? You see a lot more seventeens shirts and jerseys in the stands than you see any other players right now, And whenever he comes to the play, you see everybody with their cell phones out. So's he's made Dodger games an event. It's not just the game, it's an event with him there. Yeah, it's it feels like David's these

guys in every single sport. I remember when I broke into the league and one guy I always looked up to was lway Right, And when we played Denver, watching him warm up, it was the ball just came out of his hand different. It just it just was a snap, It was a it was a whistle by your ear. It just felt effortlessly and and you were impressed as a player and as a peer, you were impressed. The ball just seems to jump off his bat sound different when when Otani's hitting it.

Do the other players kind of see that since then feel that, Oh yeah, his teammates now are just acknowledging he's the best player they've ever seen. They were telling me that privately, but now they're saying it publicly. It's hard to ignore how good of a hitter he is. And going back to what Fred said, we all heard about him and read about him and

sometimes saw him with the Angels, but it's incredible. This guy was for six years in southern California but maybe buried to a certain extent, and now with the Dodgers, he's just, I believe, thriving in this competitive environment, and through the first thirty six games of this season, he has better

numbers than he's ever had before in his career. Yeah, Dave, and I want to piggyback on that because you said that before the Brave Series, you said you're interested to see how how he stacks up and how he competes against the Braves, a team that everybody believes that the Dodgers and Braves will be there in the end. And he sure stepped up. Man. He loved the moment, enjoyed the moment, wanted the moment, and he delivered.

And he's been delivered ever since. Yeah. I mean, his home runs on Sunday afternoon gets all the attention, but to me, the biggest hit that he's had as a Dodger was Friday night in extra innings when he had two strikes on him going up against his former teammate rycel And Glacias,

and he ties the score in the tenth inning. That was as clutch as it gets and without him time to score, there is no heroics for Andy Piez in the eleventh inning, so he did not get the walkoff hit, but he certainly got a big hit in the tenth inning, and so far, that's the most clutch, biggest hit of his Dodger career. Hey Dave, somebody got a pretty clutch hit last night for him, James Outman. And is that the kind look he desperately needed that? Do you think that's

the kind of thing that starts to get him back on track. I don't know, fred I was just good to see something positive happen for him. I know we only focus on the regular season, but he really hasn't had good feelings since spring training. Couple of good games in spring, but for the better part of the time in Arizona, he just hasn't had that same James Autman's success that we saw a year ago, and don't forget he was

a finalist for the National League Rookie of the Year. It just hasn't gone his way so far this season, and for the first time, reporters were asking Dave Roberts about what the roster move made the odd man out, and Dave said they have not had those discussions yet. Hayward has yet to go out on a rehabit sign Once Hayward does go out on a rehabit signment, you can bet those questions are going to come back. Do you think they'd send him down? Oh, yeah, without a doubt. I mean,

twenty seventeen, the Dodgers sent down Jock Peterson. They had Max Monsely reset his season. Yeah, he has options. He's not being paid a lot, so yeah, that's a real possibility, David. Other guy flying under the radar but really delivering is Taoscar Hernandez. How much are the Dodgers pleased with his performance? And did did they expect this from him? Is much higher away from Dodger Stadium, but the power numbers are much plays here.

Last night that was his third home run in the last four games on this homestand and he has eight home runs this year, seven of them have been at Dodgers Stadium. He just loved fitting in that ballpark, and that's something that the Dodgers identified when they signed him that he would do well hitting at Dodger Stadium, and that has proven to be true. It's hard to ignore the myths in his The Dodgers I were aware of that. I know the

analytics, all right. I think Dave doesn't take it. That doesn't take in to account the amount of times that you swing and mess with the hearty all right wherever Dave is. Yeah, he's in and out. He's in and out. All right, Well we'll dive into the stadium in traffic, yeah, I think so. Yeah, like the Kings. Oh, there you go, he's past. Yeah, he's coming up to one on one. He's coming up to one o one. You know, he's about to

hit Burbank. Uh huh about the k Yeah, all right, Well, we thank Dave for coming on tonight, and of course you'll hear the Dodgers and Marlins tonight right here on the station. All Right, we'll need spirituality after that. Oh yeah, we do that sensuality. No, well, no, we'll have spirituality and we'll do it. Yeah, we'll do that next Okay, Hey yeah, hey, flow the dice for me. Yeah, feeling Seven's Freddy. I'm always coming up Lucky come on right to be

Fred Rogan on a Tuesday. Never have needs some uh sensuality, need some spirituality, Yeah, sexuality, all of the realities. Freddy gotta have it, got it? You know who's going to give it to us? Who is the one man only? Yeah, Victor Brick with a daily Hai coup at two and Vic, good afternoon to you, he told Nicki Minaj at the Metropolitan Gala last night in New York. Yo, Nikki, go with the yellow mini dress of Fred Rogan. You know that's me. Vic.

He broke it down to her, Vic, go with the yellow girl. That is like the dumbest thing I've ever heard. He counseled. Zenda Yo Zen rock two outfits at the gallop, double the pleasure. Damn you damn right, I did t B. That is like the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why are you guys into the Metropolitan gallows? It just me it's crazy, man. You don't want to say hello everybody else, Vick. I'm just beginning. Fred's beginning. Fred. Let the man do his thing.

I'm just saying, it's not nice if you don't acknowledge everybody. At the time, he wasn't done yet. And you jumped in. Well, he started, he started his train of thought, and you know he is. He always interjects different things at different times. It's always a different flow, Fred, Every single day is a different flow. You gotta let him instead of trying to butt in that the first couple of years you used to jump in inter You got over that. It was it was it was Freddi's

interrupteds. My mistake is inter Is that Fred's scientific name, vic for Fredi's interrupteds, my mistake. I like that vic in for Papa. Kevin figures today, double A, the salty A, Adam Auslins and Katie Newton. Adam's not here, but he he is, but I am helping out at home, and Katie Newton's in the house. It's yes, it's me, Katie. It's me Katie. No bolts go boats, bolt up, Katie

always both, I'm always bolted up. Did you hear Adam's attack? Did you hear Adams attack Vic when he came on the area, attacked me. He's very salty, very salty. He what salty? You expressed concern for somebody and they jump down your throat. I sure hope Adams listening right now? He needs sensual I mean spirituality. Listen, he's uh his very question is in the clip is like you questioned his the validity of his being under the weather. I expressed concern. He then turned it into something else.

Mm hmm. We have to have a little more sympatico for Double A f because you know, his Clippers just you know, went down hard in six to Dallas and they're at the crossroads. Obviously they want to sign everybody they want to. They want to bring back you, bring back the band, they want to bring back Paul George, they want to bring back the Beard. But obviously they have options. So nothing is uh written in stone that the you know, the Clippers go into it, you know next next year

in Inglewood with with with a full roster of of their all stars. They got work to do. And I think Double A is feeling the effects, you know, of the of the emotions at the Clipper cossroads. I mean, we all say Lakers at the crossroads, we know that, but the Clippers are also at the course roads. Yeah. I don't know if that affects at him that much, though, Vic, I mean, what's he going to do? Vic? Maybe you should give Adam a call perhaps after

the show and give him some siege council. You should, Vic, I will maybe I read him a haikup or something. Maybe we should get Adam on right now with Vic and Vic can counsel him. That's a great idea, Fred, Yeah, I think I think more than anyone today, Adam needs this sort of like an intervention. Yeah, that's what we're gonna do. Whoa, whoa. And as lotus blossoms filled the gala last night in

New York, he is the essence of flower power. Oh, Ronnie Fossio, he'd beware of bring a punch one of lava lava if you're at the met gala or gala. It's VTB king flavor. Now a red coppet, y'all. That is like the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It is, Isn't it pretty close? I agree, Fellas. I realize the Denver Nuggets are the world champions, but what the Los Lobos, what the Wolves of Minnesota have done to them the first two games in their own house, is

still very, very stunning. We all realize Anthony Edwards is crazy, crazy talented. In an amazing year, he's gone up to another level. But when Jamal Murray, who destroyed the Lakers twice with one of a beato one with what three point seven, seemingly unguardable goes three for eighteen from the field. I mean, they're so locked in on Murray. I mean he's throwing you know, the heat pack, he's throwing the towel. You know. In the first half, I mean, the Nuggets will still got a shot.

I mean the end in today's NBA, you're down thirty, You're still in the game. So for Murray to be that exasperated, that frustrated, it was very stunning to me. But the way the Wolves have had their way with the world champions in Denver, it is shocking. Associations ruthless, It was ruthless. Karl Anthony Towns has always been a sensational ball player. But it just seems the Wolves locals as I call them, just gone up

another level. It's and it's it's wild. Is it's to see. It's like tales of another decade when teams would actually lift up their game in the playoffs and just destroy squads in Minnesota. Has done that? Have they lost a game in the postseason? I don't think so. I think they're six and oh and its double A pointed out earlier, they're doing this without the defensive player of the year. Gobert was out, you know paternity yea. By the way, Adam is not answering his phone. He's too sick.

Yeah. Yeah, we're trying to set up an intervention check in on him. I texted him. He ghosted me. Katie Katie called to me. He didn't pick up. He didn't pick up the Katie's call. No. I mean, it's one thing to ghost me, but come on, you're gonna ignore Katie's call. That not Katie. Good that Katie, It's me Katie and fellows. How about the New York Nickobocas. This is another squad that's really played William Ball this year with Tom Thibodeau, who I believe is

the coach of the year. No, one's Tibbs Love Love Thibbs big. You thought that was a good call at the end of the game. No, No, it was a ridiculous call. All right, Well then they would have lost, No, they wouldn't have lost. Was still there's still a better team than Indy. But you remember Tyrese Halliburton had a horrific game last night for the Pacers. They're all Star, They're all world. Yeah. Yeah, did not play well and the Pacers only lost by four,

even with the schlocky call down the stretch. So this is going to be a tough series. But when you know Jalen Bronson scores forty every game, I mean, this is what a revelation. Yeah, this has been a coming out party for I mean, everybody know we was good and there's no question about that. Yeah, this has been a coming out party for him though these playoffs, yeah point games. The basketball world, you know, the Dallas when he was his last year in Dallas was pretty good, right,

Yeah, then he gets to New York. The basketball world knew he was. He was pretty good. This is put him on map with not even the basketball fele this is, let's put him on the map with everybody, now see because the problem here, really, Vic is that no one really cares about the Knicks. But you, oh, I disagree for it. There's a lot of Knicks fans transplanted who still live and die with the

New York Knickerbockers. All right, So do you think they're especially with their hard times the last couple of decades, right, So do you think, Vic there are more fans for the New York Knickerbockers here, or do you think there are more fans for the Phoenix Suns, the Chicago Bulls. I'd said there's more Knicks fans for it. I mean, Los Angeles has an incredible amount of New Yorkers with transplanted seen light, you know, have gone

from darkness to light. Who who wants you know? Who understand? Los Angeles is the greatest see your dot on the planet. And there's been an incredible migration from from New York to LA the last you know, a few decades. Let's face it. How can they always say New York New York is the greatest city in the world. City so nice. It's a great city obviously. You know, it's going through changes as well as everyone.

You know, American cities in America has gone through changes as his. New York you know incredible uh you know, violence, incredible, you know, infrastructure, infrastructure problems, incredible violence. Yeah, well New Yorks are very violent city. Fright, There's violence everywhere, but New York is its share of violence. My sister lives there. Just the Patlers in New York, ye bless her hearts still selling vintage on Columbus in seventy eighth. Mad is

she making at making a living? Yes, she makes a living. Okay, she's been doing it for decades. For it, Columbus in seventy eighth. The flea markets a great flea market. Have you ever in New York? Will give you a great deal? I don't like New York for it. No, I don't mind New York, New York. You don't mind me. Why why are you questioning whether or not it is the greatest city

on the planet. No, because every time you hear a broadcast about a New York team, they always say New York's the greatest city on the planet. I don't know why La couldn't be the greatest city on the planet. I mean, I'm not gonna say Duluth that should not be the greatest city on the planet. Listen, we're living in the greatest city of the planet, Los Angeles, Anajolice, the City of Angels. Yes, but New York is still still a great city. It's still battered. It's been battered

over the over the decades. It's it's taking it the media, media entertainment capital of the world. New York. It's fair. You know it's fair. It's the heartbeat of the world comes out of New York. I think the entertainment it may be La, but the heartbeat of financial Yeah, everything comes out of New York. Friend. Yeah, power. Still I'd rather live here. Well, there's no comparison in like lifestyle. Yes, La

is still the best looks sensational number or nal number one. If you can get to New York once or twice a year, once a year, just once a year, it's all you need. I mean, it's a great place to go, like once a year. You don't want to live there, No, it kind of gets the blood flown a little bit. Yeah, you know what I mean, that's it. It's electric. You feel like you want to get up early, you want to get to work, I want to do something. When you're in New York. Pace is very

different going to move it. Yeah, pace is very different there than it is here. Yes, had to do it at Madison Square Garden. There's you knows as bruntsing. I'm sorry, Vic, what were you saying? Brunson's doing Jerry West playoff stuff? All right, I'm glad, we I'm you know what I wish we had heard of that. I don't think he's doing Jerry westuff. All right, we'll come back. Ah ah, let's get back to it. Rodney, Pete, Fred Rogan, Vic the brick

Jacobs, come on now, let's do it. Vic closing out my points on Jalen Brunson and Jerry West. Yeah, we do not want to miss that. Yes, yes, no matter what, we gotta have that. You need this because you want to understand what Jerry West did. You know back in the day, Brunson four straight games of over forty points for the New York Knicks. Jerry West nineteen sixty five for the Lakers, went over forty in a playoff series six straight times. Just to show you the incredible

skill, the basketball genius of Jerry West. Six straight forties for the logo. So what do you think that a game of one on one Jerry West would beat Brunson. Wow, that would be a great game, I mean today, Yeah, well, you know, let's say vintage you know, Jerry and his peak, peak of his powers. I would take Jerry. I would take Jerry. You know brunches what six' to one? Jerry six four or six five? I would take one on one, Jerry peak

of his powers. Although Brunson's magnificent, you know, he somehow finds that spot. Yeah, you know, within the defense, he somehow always finds that little spot, that opening, and all he needs is like that millisecond to get it off. But you know Jerry Man was, he'd overpower you. He'd shoot from three. I mean, Jerry West was just incredibly skilled. He'd rebound. Jerry West, let's face it, one of the greatest of all time there. Yeah, but I mean if they played today,

Brunson would win because Jerry's eighty years old. Well, I'm saying peak of his powers for it. Oh okay, I'll take Jerry today. I can still shoot the lights out. Yeah. Now, if you can shoot, you can shoot. Yeah. It never leaves you right like you You can throw the ball right now. I can still throw it. I can still throw it with the best of it. You just don't want to be chased. No, don't chase me. But made me throw it on the run. But you can throw it. I can throw it. Get me sit

in the pocket and not have to move. I can throw it with the best of them. I bet you, Jerry West, go out there. I bet he can. You bet he can hit one hundred free throws ninety nine out of a hundred. Oh that that's not even a question in my mind, Zach, I'll bet you, But I bet you knocked down eight or ten three, No, seven to ten threes. Mm hmm, I bet you can. Yeah. Alexei vict goo one on one with Jerry West today, he would destroy me. Jerry would destroy me. He hit you

with an elbow vic He didn't care. He took no prisoners. He was when he played man, Jerry was the toughest dude on the court. Man. There's no doubt. And today's NBA is so different. It's it's so light, it's so maybe there's a want it is. Maybe the playoffs they're not calling as much. Maybe you can get away with a little more in the playoffs. But there's no comparison back in the day, when every possession was you're you're entangled with people and people are going, you know, in

your face, in your body. It's a whole different ballgame. Talk about a different ball game. How about the Dodgers. Dodgers fans feeling you another level? You know, my brother Bob and Ford Lauderdale calls me today. Yeah, and he listens, of course, the Dodgers on the I Heart Radio app. And you know, you know, every game he's listening. The first War is out of Brother Bob's mouth. Oh Tawnee worth the money.

Oh, oh Tahani worth the money, says Brother Bob. I said, Brother, you're telling me, oh Tani worth the money, worth the money? Tell me the Mount Fuji of Masfoorte crushed his eleventh home run last night. He leads all of baseball. Then Freddie Freeman back to back, which we love to see. You know, Freddy's going to get his groove. I mean still, you know, as David vase A Stuteley pointed out, he's still hitting over three hundred, he's still playing a flaw is first

base, and he's doing the Freddy you know better than anybody. When he does to Freddy, I love it's Freeman. It's Freeman's dance. No Freeman invented to Freddy. So when he does to Freddy, it's it's you know, it's fabulous, and Freddy's Freddie's gonna get his usual numbers. I'm not worried about Freddy. Yeah, I mean, you guys, maybe I think a little super sensitive. Well, David Massy said, we were not sensitive. Well, listen, everyone goes through peaks and valleys. But I think

Freddy's finding this groove. But at first base, it's just so incredibly talented. You know, when he save so many errors, no one really picks up on that, but he picks those balls off the dirt and just makes it an out as opposed to it. You know, an error that's a big play. It's it's not really noted. Oh, Freddy Free remain another great player for a space, but he makes him every night. Well, it was great to see James Outman go deep smashed it, and Ti Oscar

Hernandez has been on a tear y ask God. Yes, and Will Smith every night. The quality of bats is just so fabulous. Will Smith is unbelievable, America's catcher, All Star catcher, best catcher in the league. We'll give him some love to Will Smith. But yeah, Walker Bula man four healthy innings and everyone should be giddy for healthy innings. Sure, the fast ball hit ninety six seventy seven pitchers. Everyone exhale Walker Bula is on

the road back. We love your Walker, Yes, yellomno tonight this pitching sticks. Unbelievable. You're considering you know who's out with you. You know, Joe Kelly angry shoulder, he's he's gingerly placed on the eel. So Joe Kelly's out. Brazis out, of course. Evan Phillips, the amazing closer, is out. And still the bullpen just steps up. I mean everyone from the bullpen has been unbelievable, Vessia. This has been a renaissance

here Hard he's doing his thing, trying is back doing his thing. Grove, everybody your borrow, Yeah, yeah, how about Volint lost in the shuffle? Voln's pitching nice. Yeah, it's just everything's clicking and click. When you went twelve out of fourteen, everything must be clicking, right, And I'll say you the reason it's clicking is because they all look forward to

one thing, Vick, the source. Yes, what's funny? Were talking Dodgers and how they're just apparently we're wearing everything up ready for the source. Yet I didn't care. And this is from core Vandenhovel. Oh okay, the that whole man exactly with a fabulous baseball haikup. And it really refers to the Dodger's launching pad. Lately at Chevez withv Max Munsey mashing three, then Altman's Bazuka. Last night, Andy Parter has power to the people.

So this high coup for you from Core Vandenhovel. Oh, of course, for the Dodgers. It's for the power, the power display and this high coup for you on this Tuesday, May the seventh, the lights hitting it out of the park and into the night. I'm feeling you for the Dodges. The cord brings it under the for the Dodgers, y'all. He brings it up, all right. Vanda Hooven, Yeah, Ronnie, thank you, Katie, thank you so much. Really appreciate it. Great work.

So tomorrow we have the game on in the afternoon, so we'll do a right we'll do a podcast in the morning and we'll put it up and then we will catch up with you again on Thursday. Rodney, Right home, Right Home,
