And we continue on Fred Rogan Rodney Pete on a five seventy l A Sports this hour. We will not have sensuality. We will have spirituality. Big will join us sensuality, didn't you? Yeah, I don't know why I said that. What's that? A good weekend for it? I can't remember it? And it was good? Thank you? All right? So they will be on later. Uh. And also we're going to be joined by
Law Murray from the Athletic and Law Murray uh covered the Clippers. UH kind of goodbye news conference there there, end of the end of the season sale news conference. Right, Well, we put we put the wraps on it, and uh we move forward. And you know, there's talk that the Clippers are going to be doing some things here during this off season, so we need to talk about that. I also find it interesting that we're out of Phoenix. Is Frank Vogel is gonna survive, but he's gonna have a
whole new coaching staff. Oh lord, I hate that. That is one thing I hate the most about this are profession sports and whether it be NFL, MLB, NBA. I just hate NHL. I hate if you're going to im parcels always said it the basket. He said this with players that if you want me to cook the meal, you got to let me buy the groceries, right, you know. And for an organization to hand pick a head coach's coaching staff, it's absolutely absurd and ridiculous. You have to
you have to know the personalities that are coaching with you. You have to know that that person has got your back. You have to know that you and that person are on the same page. You don't know there's there's history, especially nowadays, there's history with with all of coaches. It's a fraternity,
just like it is with players. Coaches have a fraternity. You know who's who, you know what's what, And who's to say that that one coach Frank Vogel doesn't have beef with a coach that they want to hire, right, and they don't see eye to eye. So I think it's the horrible idea for an organization to handcuff a head coach by dictating to them who their assistant coach is going to be. Yeah, well that's what they're going to do. In Phoenix. Let's find out what the Clippers are going to
do. Bring on Law Murray from the athletic. Hey, law thanks for jumping on here. Hey, thanks for having me. It's good to be with you guys for the first time. All right, So, so you know they've had the big end of the season conversation. What do you take away from it? My takeaway is that it's very easy to say what the team would ideally like to do going into next season, going into this next era of the into it don't easy doesn't exactly means simple. Easy doesn't exactly
mean it's going to get done. And I think that just the sheer mass of all the things that you have to cover as far as just business, and that's if you want to retain everybody, if you want to run it back. I mean, even that's a hard decision to come by considering what you've done over the past three years or what's been done to you more likely or more accurately, but just to retain the status quote, there's a lot
of business to its end. To that, Lawrence Frank acknowledged. And then there's the fact that, okay, so what are you going to do if those things break down? They can't even get to that part of the discussion yet. So we spent a half hour going back and forth about the very difficult realities that the only Clippers face going forward. And some of those difficult realities are are what law is it? Is it about just hardening Paul Joy? Where they going to do with those two or is it deeper than that?
It's definitely deeper. But if it was just what to do with your you know, two of your three best players, that would be hard alone. I think look across the NBA and here's thirty NBA teams. Eight of them are still playing. If you had to tell them, Okay, so your second and third best players contracts are either expiring or has a player option, and they have the option to pick up that last deal or not. That's a lot, you know, that's a lot for that would be a
lot for teams to have to chew on. So the Clippers have that. But then it's also one of those guys that's been with your team for five years. The other guy has been with your team for what six months? You have to determine, you know, what's the value of bringing every everybody back. But then there's more than that. It's the fact that you sign your best player to an extension and he wasn't available to finish your season for
the fourth time in four years. You have to consider that Jason Kids just signed a contract extension this morning, the Dallas Mavericks head coach who led his team over the Clippers to get to the second round. And I'll bring up Jason because that's by my account, about eight head coaches who have signed contract extensions, and tie Toron Lou's not one of them. That's a big deal because Toron has established himself as a plus head coach. It's really naive to
thinks you're going to upgrade on On t Lou. So why haven't you really seriously gotten a deal done with him yet? How long is that going to take, especially considering in the other things you have to take care of. And then the fact is you can bring the head coach back, you can bring all the stars back. You even have those guys reasonably healthy, which we saw them be reasonably healthy over the course of the full season. What did that get you? Not a top three seed. You're the oldest team
in the league. There are still clear ways that you need to improve the team. We saw that after the Grammy trip, after the All Start break. How do you go about doing that? With limited resources, or how do you go about doing that while potentially taking away a big piece of your core? Yeah, so what do you do? Loll I mean, you know it's kind of a buzzkill, as you'll laid it all out, So what do you do? It is, man, and it's hard. Like
I'm around the team. You know, I'm not gonna you know, they ain't no stats for media, bro, but I mean people who followed me, ife you we've read my stories both this year in the previous few years I've been around, so I've had away everything, everything that the team does, and there's been a lot of successes, but there's been some really hard, hard valleys. So I'm glad I don't have this job. Man. And you know what, if someone wants to give it to me, I'll
take the check with it. So I'm just going to lay it out there. If I'm looking at it. You're going into a new arena. So this isn't your normal well, you know, run back playing downtown in La do the same things we've been doing for past quarter century. It's like no, like you're trying to you're trying to sell, you know, you're trying to get people to really be reinvested and re energized by this team. Well, how do you do that while keeping the status quo of something that fell
far below expectations that you set five years ago? And I think that you got to find a way to retain your head coach and give him a reason to think things are going to be different, no matter who might not be available at the end of the season. Paul, I think has given this franchise a great five years as far as you know, being being an advocate for the LA Clippers as a franchise, being an LA guy, all those things. But I think it's going to be easier to get something done with
you games and the leverage that Paul George has. I think it's going to be a matter of who blinks first, between the Clippers and what they're willing to offer and Paul and what he's willing to sacrifice if he has to leave his hometown, his home market to go somewhere else, especially if that somewhere else got some pictures way holder than this one, and if that's where you arrive at, it's going to feel like twenty seventeen when you reassigned Blake Griffin
only to trade him when Chris Paul did you a huge favorite by picking up his player option and you flip him for players who helped you greatly in the short term and lou Will pat bed Mantrez Harrow. So you know, it's almost like Paul George is the combination of both of those guys, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, Like, how do you get something done where he feels like he can securely stay here, or if that's not going to be the case, how do you use his situation to, if not improve the team,
at least change it laterally? So specifically, what would you do? What would you do? Though? What would you do if you're the Clippers? I was serious about the check man, Oh, I don't have a check. Fred may have a check for you. But but if you did get that check, what would you if I did get that If I if I got that check, I'm I'm convincing Paul he's got to come back at the deal that you have. It's just that simple. I don't think you
can maximum. But I also think that this team was really good for a significant stretch of the season, and so I think Paul has to understand that he's not going to want to leave. Man, You're not going to want to leave your guys that you've been building with. You're not going to want to leave. You know, everything that you built here in La. There is some unfinished business that you spoke on the restord of when you signed your last deal. And he's a player who you know he should know by now
the grass saying always greener on the other side. So, I mean he's entering year fifteen. I think if you're a Clippers, you guys got to put your hand, you got to you gotta put that foot down and Katsuka haircut. I think James is probably going to wind up doing so as well. I think for Paul, I think it's like, look, if what matters to you is to be the best kind of teammate and the and then
be in the best situation possible. I think that he's going to want to stay here and he's going to want to try and get it done here. Yeah, but what if he wants to win and I think he feels he can win somewhere else. I'll tell you what. The teams that are playing right now. The only one of those teams that I think might have a real case for being able to even start with Paul George is maybe Indiana and New York, and I don't think those teams have enough to give the Clippers
what they would want to give up for Paul. And and at the same time, I don't even think those teams really fit how Paul wants to play either. I don't think those markets really suit what Paul wants to do. So you can use the leverage, but it's like, at the end of the day, and you know what, the end of the day is probably going to be sometime in late June, sometime in mid July, sometime in between then the end of the day, do you really want to do that
to yourself? Do you really want to say, all right, I'm going to go to Indiana and I'm going to play for a team that honestly, I don't I don't think. I don't think he's going to really want to go back to that market. Do you really want to go to New York where TIS runs a much tighter shift than anything here and you're just not going to see as many opportunities to impact what you need to impact. I don't.
I just don't see that happening. I really think Paul's got a hard decision to make about what it's going to take the sacrifice and stay in LA. And I think the Clippers are going to have to understand that as well, and not for him the entire peg, because they know that that's not
that's gonna handstring everything that he try and do going forward. When you look at the UH, when you look at the current NBA and especially and specifically the West, there are a lot of teams out there law that aren't going anywhere. They're young, and they're up and coming. The Minnesota, Denver, Sacramento, even though they're out of it, Sacramento. If if you're the Clippers and even the Lakers looking at this now, it's a tough road.
It's a tough path going forward. And and and I hate to see it like you're talking about it. With the Clippers, they're going into a new place. They can't blow this whole thing up. And if you're the Lakers, you got the Lebron situation hanging over your head, what do you do with him? For the Lakers and the Clippers, both teams in this market, the future is it's on shaky round right now, isn't it? It is The thing that the Lakers have the fall back on is they did
win a title with their two best players. It took some months off in a controlled environment to do it, but they wanted nonetheless. And then last year they did make the conference title run, even though they just fired the coach who let them to it. So you know, they had some of those things to fall back on, even with Lebron James, who was going to be forty next year, even with Anthony Davis, who he was durable this year. But we all know to deal with Ad. We saw it
in the playoffs just now against the Nuggets. They ignore him too much. Ad can make all of the shots to one half and then they act like he's JaVale McGee in the next half. That's your foundation, And you know, there's some advantages to what the Lakers have. At least the Clippers don't have those advantages. They don't have really anything to fall back on. Their
last playoff series win, their only conference on appearance in franchise history. We're now three years removed from it. This team that they put together to win a title hasn't been able to realize any of that potential. And they're the Clippers are even older than the Lakers are. The Clippers have even fewer usable pieces, fewer assets in the short term, uh than than the Lakers do.
That's a tough place to be. And so the Western Conference. I wrote about it for Sunday Morning, And you know, it's a little crazy to have two stories in a forty eight hours span, but uh, that's what we do. It's not like we're going to wait till next month to write about the Clippers in their state, state of the Western Conference. I'm pretty sure you all want to read about the Clippers now and read about the
Western Conference now. So I dressed the head on. If you look at the team still standing, they have a lot of reason to think that they're going to be there. Luca Dantis is in his twenties, Shay Gilliers down standards in his twenties, Anthing Edwards in the twenties. Nikola Joka, she's still not even thirty years old yet, and they won. The Denver Nuggets have won. You look off the teams that missed the playoffs, those teams
have opportunities to improve and in quick order. The Houston Rockets, I'm not even inspired by a lot of the dudes on they squad and they still damn near doubled their win total. You know, just basically on getting some professionals on the floor and getting a new head coach. You probably knows what he's doing. The Sanatoian Spurs have a literal alien on their team. Utah Jazz. They lost to the Mavericks. It's like the Clippers did, but the
Jazz are like, screw it, we're blowing it up. And they got big tom picks for Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert Midu, two guys who are now in the semi finals with their new teams. So the Clippers, it's tougher when you have the relationships that the Clippers do. It's harder when it's like, you know, at least Lop City, you had dudes that made it very clear that the chemistry wasn't right, that they didn't get along as well as they should have. And half of those dudes are in the media
now so we hear about it every week. That's not this team. You know, like this team they do get along. They did there, they are from here. The connection does run deeper. It's hard to break that up. It's a more emotional decision and one that we're about to see this summer if they have the stomach for some of those decisions. Long, great stuff, man, thanks for coming on today with Yeah, man, thank you so much. Like I said, thee all season. But we're going
to keep working, all right, we'll talk to you again. Thanks, love all right. He was good, Rodney, Yeah, absolutely, good stuff. Man. He knows this stuff. He's in it, man, And right, you know, and there it is honestly for both teams, not just the Clippers, Lakers and Clippers. Yeah, it's kind of the dilemma. Yeah, it's you're kind of in the same spot here. You might get a little better, you probably aren't gonna win, yeah, yeah, yeah, probably won't get worse. You'll just kind of be there.
But the Lakers, for the Lakers, even though they're the bigger brand, they won a title. They as you mentioned, they won a title. They are they are the Lakers. Their fan base win loser, draw is gonna be there. Clippers, what have you done for us? What have you done for us? And going into a new dome, there's no excitement now going into the new place. See, I guess yeah, but see and you and I I mean, it's the wait, wait, wait, before I go, I hear what you're gonna say, but I'm gonna let
you say it. The excitement was, let's take a run at it. So, oh my god, next year we just have one. Here we go. Next year, We're gonna win this whole thing as we entered. It's not that feeling. It's not that feeling. No, no, no, not even close. I think they get see. I think you get a honeymoon period for a year here. And I've said this before and I know you don't agree, but I think the building will sell itself for the first season, just the yeah of it and oh I gotta go down there
and see it, be there and feel all of it. I think I think the building selves itself for year one. Then you're I agree with that. I agree with that, but you're not going to get you know, a crazy out pouring selling selling season tickets out in thirty minutes like you would have if they would have made the Western Conference Finals. Not at all. I agree. I agree. Yeah, I think both the teams have a dilemma. Spirituality is what we need, that's what we crave. Of course
we do, and we will have vic next to provide it. I'm gonna take a dale when and let him pick up whatever. Yes, yes, Fred Rogan on a Monday, let's keep it moving, Freddie, we need something, We really need something. Sensuality. Yeah. Did you hear Katie? No? I did not, Katie. I don't know if I want to hear kat Oh. No. So anyway, Ronnie rolls the music, We're gonna come back, would you say? Katie said, who's ready for some sensuality? Katie dropped that that inflection on the sensuality? She did?
She can sell it like who's ready for some sensuality? That's right? She can said she's a pro, A pro is a voiceover artist. Yes, I don't know if she's a pro. Yeah, for Claire, find that friend. Oh my god. All right, we're gonna be off the air in a minute. I know. Let's bring on Vic to find out what's going on. Vic, Good afternoon. Was he sipping tequilas at Jalapeno pezz and Studio City last night celebrating Cinco Demayo Sensual? Fred Rogan? Uh?
Thanks, Vic, I don't really like the cheese there. Maybe I'm the only guy at Jalapeno pezz. I don't like the cheese. You don't like the cheese. I know, and I should write order the same cheese all the time. Oh, I got a case of dia one time. I didn't like it. I don't like the cheese. Wow, no disrespect.
We'll have to tell Pete about that. He was celebrating the sweet sweep of the Atlanta Braves, Rodney, Pete faith in for Popper Kevin figures, Adam Marseling and Katie Newton, and she's pumped for Jim Harbaugh's smash mouth football. Y'all? Bolt up? Why why Katie? Why come on? Oh my god, next season, Katie? Oh my god, that sounds so weak. No offense, Oh, bolt up, bolt up? No, No, Katie is loving her some Joe Ault big boy. Yes, all protection,
protection, Rodney. I'm the first to admit I needed it. And he was at the Ravine on Saturday night, rocking to the Max Monsey three home run barrage Roddie Fossio. He got the hat trick, y'all. Yeah, Dodger fans, who are feeling you? What are you Forick? Sinko de Mayo Weekend Every game was unique and singular and beautiful. You start with Friday night, yeap rookie Andy pa Has, who's been sensational, wins the game with his fourth hit of the game in the eleventh. A sensational at
bats, but a pivotal moment. Otanissan finally got a hit with a guy in scoring position on that night. He was in a semi funk with runners in scoring position when he sent the game to extras with that single up the middle. I believe that was a turning point in otani san season. Well, I don't know about that turning point in the season, Vick. Is that what you're saying right now? I'm saying that was a very clutch, clutch single. What you said, Vic, you said it was the turning
point in his season. I believe it may have been the game tying hit up game tying hit up the middle in may change. It could have turned o tiny sun around from what killing it, but not to runners in scoring position. It was this weekend where he really had to break out the break that weekend for the Mount Fuji of mas Forte. All right, then, of course Saturday night, Roddy Fascio in the house monthly, the three homers, the first Uno dos trace homers in the game for the funky mony.
Well, is that because Ronnie was there and months he wanted to impress him, didn't hurt? Yeah, I'll roll with that. Then Otani had a solo shot. Well, Pa hez and glass now has been so unbelievable with the seven strong ten k's first six game winner in baseball. Glass now is the ace and pitching, you know, my mind, blowing outings every time out. And that night Otani broke Dave Roberts record for most darger home runs by a Japanese born player. And how about Otani before the game gifting Dave
Roberts with a toy purple Porsche. How cool was that? Well, if you collect toy cool, they was one the real thing. Yeah, we'll give me this toy. Well, Dave planted the seed with Otis, and otanis on planted the seed. Well, we get to the World Series, we win the World Series, I'll be thinking about it. So the seed has been has been planted. What's he thinking about? Maybe another Porsche he may be gifting. He may be gifting the sense, say a real Porsche.
Who knows? Let a play out? And then of course yesterday look at me. I'm still kavelinge again again him pritt, Oh my god, look at him, he's coaveling. Yes, I'm crying because we've got Mukie Mooki has been unbelievable, but yesterday belonged to Altani Sun two homers, two singles. He now is a major league leading ten homers in the thirty five games. Lots of extra base hits. He has twenty five extra base hits in the thirty five games. Ol Tani's off the best start of his career.
Thank god, four for four yesterday, hitting now three six four. Thank god he delivered that shot up the middle to tie the game, because that thing it turned that. It was a relief now that moment because he's having a great season, but that game, t that was the moment. It was a palpable burden lifted. Was it palpable? It was palpable to feel it, but yes, it was unbelievable for a tiny Sun. That
second home run four hundred and sixty four feet. It traveled to howl and raised Fried Chicken in Chinatown, who wrote that you're telling me tioscar Hernandez ask God number number eight man and the bullet assist from right field to get Olson going for a double. And there's Mookie with the wonderful tag. I mean, there was so many beautiful elements. I'm crying because we got Mookie. All right. Nick will continue his rundown with the weekend activities at the stadium
when we come back. Oh hey, it's a Monday and we need it if we need to finish his strong Rodney, Pete, Fred Rogan and Vic the brick Dicobs come on, Vic, Yeah, let's go. Vict. So many beautiful Dodger moments over the weekend. Oh my god, he is going to continue. Blake trying on one, two, three, eighth. We haven't seen Blake in a couple of years. He pitched beautifully, Yes
he did. Grove isn't a groove? Groove and a groove? Yeah, the only the only bummer, you know, a lockdown relief Pitture has been unbelievable. Ep Evan Phillips hamstring. He's out for a couple of weeks. Yeah, that sucks. That's a tough one. That's a tough one. So maybe more endings from Mel Mariachi, Joe Kelly, who whose stuff has been crazy hard. But you're getting trying him back. Of course. Tonight, Walker Buller, what are you looking for for? Walker Buller? Vic,
what are you looking for? Eighty pitchers? Five innings? Again, you guys touched upon it. Just stay healthy, you know, get into all the you know, control some quadrants most importantly, you know, use your repertoire. Yes, but five innings, max, because we need we need Walker in October man kind of easiest way back into it. Huh, exactly. Don't forget Morongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck at six with Tim Kates, Yes, and Walker's much anticipated first pitch on Star Wars nights at seven
ish. Listen right here this electric season. By the way, Vic, did you did you happen to see or you Fred happened to see the Star Wars night at the Angel Stadium? I did not? No. Pretty spectacular, was it? Oh yeah, you know it really was. I gotta give it up. It was pretty spectacular. A you know, a battle with the stormtroopers on the drones. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. Angels are coming around, Fred, are they coming around? Oh? Yeah?
Okay? Off the field, yeah, Willie Calhoun is hitting clean up the former Dodger. Yes, show, Hey, you escaped and the nickel time, My brother, that team is spiraling into hardball. Hell they have no listen, what ten years without a playoff, no pitching, I mean the story continues. Yeah. Yeah, are they like eight games back already and it's already Uh oh they're in last place. Yeah, it's done. It's like the Angels have done already. Yeah. Meantime, Otani's breaking records
and hitting almost four hundred, you know, the Otani factor. Let's not forget you know what he's been through emotionally, you know, with that's it, Dick, Imagine imagine his mindset. How still Otani Shan's mind is to go through obviously, a whole new team, the Dodgers, the contract, the ripoff, you know, newly married to you know, the beautiful Mamiko, and yet he's hitting, you know, lights out, so focused and so furious, so you got to give it up. You know. Otani's
baseball skills are unbelievable, but his iron will is sensational. The mindset is sensational. Moushin no mind right, muga no ego, And guys, are you're excited about the freshest college football bowl game Arizona? Ronnie hit me, Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dre. They got the Gin and Juice Bowl the official name. Get this Snoop Dogg Arizona Ball presented by Gin and Juice, by

They're gonna throw down the greatest halftime show maybe in college football history. Is your phone ringing? It could be de O Double G saying this is gonna be a bowl like no other. The Dog is calling you big. I mean, I'm what player is gonna skip the Snoop and Dre Bowl Game. Everyone's gonna represent everybody coming mind on my money, money on my

Yeah, she said the people watching at the derby was incredible, incredible, great atmosphere.
You had Holly there, you had Aaron Rodgers, yes, Travis Kelce, yes, Inglewoods own Lisa Leslie was there. Yes she was. I'm a photo finish. That was just nuts. And listen, we're gonna give some mad love to all volleyball squads. USC Women's Beach Volleyball four P VIC, four P. Nasty dynasty in the sand. Oh you're back tomorrow? Outstaatey Hi, it's me Katie. Yes, all right, Rodny, we'll get him tomorrow, right ho
