Then we continue on Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete on seven LA Sports. Later this hour we'll open the phone lines and Dodger fans, you'll have a chance to weigh in your thoughts on Mookie moving a short. Gavin Lux got to hit. No choice, now, no choice. He's in that lineup and he better hit because that's the only reason he's there. Anyway, we'll get your take coming up in a bit. I want to remind you if you miss any part of the show David Basse on an Hour one, just download
the free iHeart Radio app and you can listen to the podcast. Kevin will put it up the minute we get off the air each and every day, So if you missed any part of it, go back and listen to it. And if you have the app, then stream the show live wherever you go. You can take us anywhere anywhere, Fred know what I say, You can take us around the world. And you know why they're doing that, Rodney, because we're what Fred killing it, killing it. That's exactly
why there It is only reason. So download the free iHeartRadio app and get to step in. Let's go to work. Oh yeah, he fired up baby this Monday. Let's go Freddie, all right, so let's go Lakers. Now. You know I've said this, and I don't know if you agree or not. Oh well, the real Lakers please stand up. Yeah, you know, I pointed out from the very beginning that I believe that they are built for the playoffs and that's where they'll do their damage. Last
night they faced Minnesota. Now, Carl Anthony Town's out. Minnesota is still good, still a good team. Go Bear was out too. But it doesn't matter, because you know, at this stage, in this part of the season, doesn't matter. You got to play with in front of you, and Minnesota is still a good team. Anthony Edward still there. I don't care. I don't want to hear, oh, they didn't have this guy, they don't have. Nobody cares anymore, Fred, Nobody cares who
you have in the lineup. They didn't have Lebron the other night against Milwaukee and they still won. Right, So I don't want to hear, oh, he didn't have this guy, didn't have this guy this time of year. He played with what you got and they and they count. So don't give me that. I heard a lot of people, Well, don't get too excited Laker fans because they didn't have they didn't have Cat and they didn't have Gobert. Okay, win is a win, right, Well, no,
at this point, that's exactly right. A win is a win. And the game, as you started the fourth quarter really was a toss up. It was anybody's game, but that's where the Lakers were able to assert their will and beat them. I thought it was a good win. Anthony Davis has just really had a terrific year, and last night again Rodney showed up big time and really was the difference in that one. Why is he
not in MVP conversations at all? I mean even I probably won't win it, but I'm just saying, why is he not even being kind of mentioned? Probably because of the ten seed? Yeah, team's not winning, No, and Yokis is still putting up great numbers. Yeah, but they still mention other people that even you know, in years past, they still mentioned other guys, Like even when Jokic and Embiid and this guy and that guy, they would throw names out there. He just don't hear him. Yeah.
I feel like the only time someone this low has ever gotten MVP was Russ and that's because he was the first person to average a triple double since uh since way back when. Yeah, so it's not that Ad is not having a great year. He is. But you look at the Denver Nuggets way up top, where they are towards the Western Surgeon at the moment. Jalen Brown or excuse me, Jason Tatum with the Boston Celtics at the best record, best player on best team usually gets votes. So that's probably why
it's just where the Lakers are positioned right now. Yeah, it always goes back to the team game when it's convenient. It's an individual game when they want to criticize you in many senses. Yeah. Yeah, Nonetheless, a nice win, an important win for them, and you know they kid should keep them up because they're gonna be around in town for a while before they hit. They need to pile them up the road. They need to pile that. They've lost their ability to get a cushion, Fred, so they
got to pile them up when they can't. And they have some crazy stat Right, they play in the state of California for like the the foreseeable future. Right, no reason to leave. Yes, they go. They go to Milwaukee on March twenty sixth, So they'll be here until they'll be in the state until then they go to Sacramento, then they come back home for four more. Yeah, so this is a friendly part of the schedule.
Back come up. I don't know if I call Sacramento who just beat you the Warriors, So you're chasing seventy six ers who might have embed back, the Pacers, who are a good team in the East, and the Milwaukee Bucks a good part of the schedule. But we'll take I said it won't be easy. But if they had a bunch of rain, why you want to rain on what Fred just said. It's keeping it real now. Anyway, they're a home and that's good news. And there's more good news.
Uh, Shams is reporting that gave Vincent may be back than you think and that's great. Uh he's progressing the conditioning and ramping up on the floor. Uh. How that means he'll be bad? Question? How effective will he be? Isn't that the question? Yeah? Because he didn't played all season long, and it's not like he's playing. You know, he was on the team last year where he's familiar with with his teammates on the court and they've had you know, maybe some practice, but he's not played with this
team, so how effective going into the playoffs will he be? And and how do you use him? If you're Darvin am Well, look at it like this, he's ramping up. That means once he's in game shape and starts hitting a couple, he'll be the freshest guy on the floor. He can play forty eight minutes a night. Yeah, yeah, fresh legs.
But you always worry that, you know, having not played, I don't care how good a shape you're in, are you rehabbed and for the last three four months, there's nothing like playing in an actual game, and so you worry about, Okay, we're there's gonna be a soft tissue injury coming up soon because those starts and stops and things you have to do that you can't prepare for always come up. So they gotta be just careful about how
they ease him back into the lineup. D'Angelo Russell, if he continues to play the what you got to say about him fair because you hated him. You want to pay his critic. You said you couldn't believe why the Lakers brought him back. You said he should be traded at the deadline. You said he's not giving this team anything. You said you wouldn't want him on your team if you were coaching little Owen, I said none of that, but thank you. I said none of that. But yeah, yeah again,
you know big shot too. It's so damn frustrating with him. Yes, I agree, because man, when he's playing, he's playing, Yeah, he's hard to stop. And that's the thing when you look at them, if he's playing the way he can plays. You know, Lebron hobbles up and down and does give you like twenty five on a bad ankle. If ruy Hachamora hits all of a sudden, I'm telling you they're not an easy out. No, they're not, and they're gonna you know, they're
playing doing this without Vanderbilt as well. Right, you gotta get him back defensively, But man, when d low has got it going, because he can do a lot of things right, he can create his own shot, he can beat you from from three, he can go to the basket, he can facilitate. You know. The thing he hurts you is he can obviously can't play any defense that that kills you latent games. But but offensively, man, he is a legitimate go get a bucket guy. Yeah he
is, Yeah he is. So that was a good win, you know, And aside from Kevin saying it all go to hell, I wouldn't say that. Say you're saying Rodney put words in your mouth, you know, you put them word of my mouth. I just said it wasn't going to be an easy stretch. I heard. I heard what I heard. Yeah, that happens fairly often, Fred, Yes, I heard what I heard. You hear what you hear, but not what I say. That's okay, Well that's what I was saying when I talk to you. That's fairly
common. That's not true, but all right. So anyway, Uh, it was indeed a good win for the Lakers. Now, Dodger fans, we'll give you a chance. Let's do it next. We'll give you a chance to weigh in. What do you think of the move Mookie Bets goes to short? And what do you think of Gavin Lucks? If I can add some context to that, Fred, h Yes, the Dodgers are playing right now, and there was a high chopper hits the second base to Gavin Lucks. Why throw to first base? Stop it? Error? Stop it
literally about forty five seconds to a minute ago. Well, maybe that'll change the way you feel. Maybe it's your call. A tix six ninety seven two five seventy. All right, Kevin just added the context bottom of the first inning too, Mookie to short Lucks the second Dodger fans, how do you feel? Oh? Yes, we are back on a Monday, A beautiful monday. It is so stop calling for rain, Kevin, not asking for the rain. Come on now, just keeping it in perspective. Roddy
b Fred Rogan and a beautiful Monday. Mookie Betts your shortstop. Cavin Luck's your second baseman. How do you feel about it? Well, I don't know how the Dodgers feel, since it was five minutes ago he met it, throwing her from second base. You know, it's one thing to have the yips. Steve Sachs, you know, taught us about that. Yeah, but there's a point in time where you know, unless you're the DH you cannot afford to make errors like that. No, not on Eutine Place,
No routine. You got to make the routine plays. And that's the thing. When you get and your confidence is shaken like this, everything becomes difficult every play is difficult. The things that you normally would do in your sleep since you were probably eight years old, become difficult. And it just feels like Galli Lux is going through that right now. And I just I look love Dave Roberts, love what the Dodgers do. I just don't know
if this is the right situation. And I will say he's been flirting with this all weekend. I saw the game of Sunday and a little bit of Saturday, and there are a couple of throws that were a little low in the dirt, a little bit wide. Yeah, he's definitely not comfortable. And one of the throws on Saturday, I think it was you saw him kind of shake his head even though Freddy got the ball. He's just you
can tell that it's in his head. Yeah. Well, and the thing is this, I give the Dodgers a lot of credit because David Vassey suggested that they could still send him down and have him work on it. They don't want to do that to him. They want they don't want to put him in a position where we're gonna have to send you down. Yeah, he's been down. I mean that, what do you think that's gonna do to his confidence. Well, and that's what Bassi said. But you can't
have this. All right, let's go to the phone lines if you'd like to weigh in real quick. The move of Gavin Lutch the second and Mookie is short eight six six nine eighty seven two five seventy, Tony. Appreciate your calling. Go ahead, you're on the air. You know, I didn't know Dave say has said that, but I was seeking the same thing. Maybe drop him down back to triple A and see if he could play second base well enough to bring him back. But to be honest, I
think it's time to let him go. And uh, it's just keep it simple and let's get that championship this year, all right. Appreciate the call. And you say let him go, Well, who's gonna want a guy that can't throw? Anyway? Where are you gonna let him go to? You're gonna get for him? Yeah? Hey, you know the Dodgers are willing to trade him. Okay, why because he can't throw? Yeah, So I don't think that that let him go. I hear you, but
I don't. I don't know if that's the answer right now, Roger, I don't know let him go. I don't know if that's the answer either, And I you know, I think, at least from the outside looking in, we are under the impression that they were going to let him work through it, right coming back from the injury. I mean, that's what we heard last week, right, that they were going to let him work through it. You know, it's going to take time, and he doesn't.
You know, most people coming off a major reconstruction like he did, it's going to take a little bit at the time, and the Dodgers were willing to give him that time, and then it felt like on a dime, it just turned and said, oh no, we're not going to give you that time anymore. Yeah, ar, here comes Mitch, Mitch, thanks for holding you're on the air, Chris Tsels, Fred Roannie giving clean anywhere. It came up to the Senate field, So I love it.
I want to see him Keith Locks, the guy Keathon got offense. Well, he did only the second only homegrown town on his lineup that we have now, So I don't want to see up the Bucks and they gave up a push to give over them Corey Cody Trey. But I'm glad Mookie is able to switch to shorts up, came up and center field, make a few mistakes. Yeah, no, thanks, Mitch, I got it, thanks Mitch. Yeah, And that's what that was the impression I got.
Man, I don't know about you, but that's what I got, that they were going to let him work through it throughout spring training, you know, and and live with it for maybe the beginning of the season because now everything is pressure rized. Well, here's the thing, and we said it last week. What they came in with the plan will whatever they leave with is the real plan, you know. We it was kind of like to Korea with Yeah, that's the real plan. They came into camp going all
right, we this is what we want. This is what we hope. But you know, for them to pull the trigger that quick on a switch two weeks into spring training, they had this in the back of their mind for them to pull the trigger. As patient as the Dodgers are, they think there's a real issue, Rodney, Absolutely they do, because yeah, it's not I mean, it looks and I said this, it looks like
it was a you know, a knee jerk and an overnight decision. But in essence, they probably have been studying this and going, I don't know, Fred, I don't know if this is actually going to work. And if we're going to make the switch, we gotta get Mookie ready to play shortstop, and so we better put him in right now and get him as many looks as possible before the season starts. So that's that's kind of where the thinking is. Man. So uh, let's go uh Rudy in La,
Rudy talk to us, guys, you guys do it. I really don't like the fact that they're putting Mookie at shortstop. He either play. He either pay second. You put him on the outfield. You got Rojas, you got Kek. You had t about the covered short stop, Galvin. LUs have to go back to the liners and get better. And if he's not going to get better right there, they decide to let him go. That's the way I feel. I think they're messing with the team.
He's early and the Seas hasn't even starting yet, and they're really messing around with that. All right, Rudy appreciate the call. Yeah, I mean he makes a valid point for it. The season hasn't really started yet. I know there's pressure on this team to win it all and they want to get off to a good start. But I just my gut, it tells me it's going to affect more people than just Gavin Lux. Well you said that from the beginning. Yeah, And when you think about it, the
first thing you wonder is how, why? Why? Who's going to affect? But the point about Mookie, and you can't emphasize it enough. If Ookie's not hitting, I will bet you he's not going to be the shortstop. Pull that trigger quick? Don't you think I do? I do? Because we know the team's gonna go how Mookie goes. And they've got great players, and yes, Freddy and and and Otani are behind them. You had Muncie, but let's face it, the guy leading off, Mookie Bets
is the catalyst of this team. You know what I'm saying. Uh, let's go circus circus and Santa Clara, youn a M five seventy l A sports? What do you think? Oh, Santa Clarita? But hey, let's let's take what did I say? Here's a clemente? What did I say, said, Santa Clara? That's way up north, Santa cl there it is. Maybe you should move your Maybe you should all right, here's the thing. There's no time and we're not obligated to Gavin Luks to give
him all the time in the world to fix his gips. Either cut the guy or set them to the minors and be done with it. You can't tell Mookie is not going to come out and say it. He doesn't look happy. In short, is gonna affect Mookie's hitting. There's no way I'm gonna put up with this, get rid of Gavin, or let him go figure it out and move on. That's what I got to say about that. I appreciate the call. Yeah, I think that's gonna be the sentiment
for of most folks. It's like and it's and it's a cruel business because you'd like to see, you know, Gavin Lux have a full spring training and and and try to work back from the injury. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way. My thing is, why, what is the what is the hesitance on letting Rojas take it over? Well, they think Lucks can hit better, That's what it is. They want to bat I'm onnest one
is bad. But to me, I mean, we we haven't seen a whole lot of Gavin Lux, but it's it's not It's not like you're taking Max Munsey's bat out of the lineup, right, who's gonna give you thirty five home runs? Gavin Lux is a good hitter, but is he Is he that that you got to have him in? Well, he's, in their opinion, more than Rojas. Pretty simple, if we can, if we can extend our offense a bit, let's do that. Here's what I'm surprised with. I'm surprised that the callers, how every one of them had
such a quick trigger, get rid of them. I'm really surprised by that. Doctor Fans normally don't react that way. Give him a little time, let him work his way through it. He'll figure it out, you know,
they'll do. What's I think it's more Yeah, I mean, I think it's trigger, But I think it's to my point, which one of the callers did say, is that now you're affecting Mookie because this this move is not just about Gavin Lux. It's not we're taking Gavin Lucks out of the lineup and putting Rojas a's short stop, keeping Mooki at second base. It is now you're switching positions with Mookie Betts as well. So this this affects more than just one person. You think Trevor Bower's going to pitch in
the bigs again? No, No, I think that David Vassay, who came on earlier with us, told us that there was nobody looking at him. There was no scouts watching him pitch, and so I think if there was any hope that that somebody would just take a flyer or maybe look at him and watch him pitch. But nobody was out there watching him pitch, which goes to tell you nobody really cares. You know, nobody cares. I want to take one more? You want to take one more? Oh,
and let me see if we have one more? Kevin? Do we have on more? Okay? Oh I just did the light it was blinking. I didn't know jump down my throat like you jumped down fred in the world. Blanket means it's right. I don't want to pop them on here, like, hey, we can't have that. I don't want that. You know you can't have that. We get Don Martin walking down the hall saying, what the hell are you guys doing? Let me talk to these guys for two seconds on Yeah, here's what you say, about in my
mind, and and it has nothing to do with baseball. No, it has everything to do with the way he has conducted himself throughout his baseball career. Unfortunately, Yes it does. I think that's what it is. And look, he was not found guilty of anything here, No, not charged with a crime, but I think because of the way he conducted himself. And if you're a fan and you love him, that's great, but he was he was not an easy guy to be around, and and he had
an air about him. He wasn't warm, fuzzy and engaging. Now, if he doesn't have a problem and you can go out and win Game seven of the World Series, you go, that's my guy. Yeah, but there there there was something I believe in many people's minds it is off putting about him sway conducted himself, and he had an arrogance. There was a level of arrogance. And yes, he wasn't charged with a crime, but in a in the public opinion, it was it was the visual was not
good. Right. So even not admitting that you didn't you know, in your mind, did anything wrong because you weren't charged, but just saying it's unfortunate that it came something something that lets people say, you know, yeah, you know, I this is where I live my wife life, and it doesn't agree with a lot of people. I just want to play bass as something that would have let people know that he was somewhat human in this
situation or humble, humble in this situation. Absolutely, yeah, and there and there's the dilemma because you know, we all present ourselves a certain way. Whatever he is or is and I don't know, but there is an air about him, an arrogance about him that does rub people the wrong way. And in life, you don't get one of those. You don't get breaks from people. Right, That's right, That's exactly it. You know, if you're that person, you better not find yourself in a situation where
you need people to rally behind you because they're not going to. And we get you know, we had the calls from Dodger fans he should pitch, right, We got all that, but this is a little different. And you know, people like this in life, you know, there's just something about them and you could call it arrogance, you could call it an aloofness,
but there's just something about him about him. And also this is a it's a private business, right, So this is owned by the Guggenheim guys, and they have no obligation to pay him, to sign him, to allow him to play none. So regardless, if he's not found guilty of a crime, you have that right to refuse service. Right. It's your team, yes, by the way, as it is every owner's in Major
League Baseball. So the question then becomes because because of the way he has conducted himself over the years, not in this particular situation, over the years, if you were to sign him and bring him in first, you better believe that this guy is going to win every game, go seven innings a game and quiet what people are going to be saying. You get him to
forget about what happened, they focus back on baseball. Yeah, that's that's easier said than done, because by virtue of things he has done in the past. I remember at one point some years ago, Kevin, I don't know if you remember, there was an article posted his rules of dating. Don't get involved with me. There's nothing serious. I mean he put it out the way. Pardon you put it out there publicly. Oh yeah, it was published and people looked at them and when what is wrong with you?
What the The arrogance from that article was really off putting to a lot of people, especially women. If I it was like, if I spend the night with you, then don't expect anything else. It was because I just found it again that I remembered it vaguely, but it said Number one, no feelings. As soon as I sent you developing feelings, I'm cutting you off. Number two, no public affection. Number three, You're not
the only one. Okay. I was twenty nineteen when he was still in Cleveland, right, and you know that guy saying all right, I need a break now, Yeah, I need a break. It's one thing to make a mistake. It's one thing to have something happen and you apologize because, as I learned in life, people are forgiving Once, as my boss told me at NBC over thirty three years ago, if you are contrite, if you seem that you have been humbled and acknowledge that, people will forgive
you. But if prior to whatever you do, you're saying don't develop feelings, you're not the only one. Yeah, it's the Iran. They remember that. It doesn't make it seem like such a good guy. That made a mistake, and and and then you lose either you lose the the it's not a crime argument. You lose that argument because of your arrogance because people then don't care that it wasn't a crime, because now they're judging you and what kind of person you are. So I'm not going to give you a
break. And that's why he can't get a job. We'll take one before we go. All right, let's go. Uh Jacob and Gilbert Arizona. Jacob, you're an M five seven LA sports talk to me. Hey, guys, I appreciate I go to the backfields every weekend on my days off. Luckily I live out here you now, and drive out to Glendale just seeing it firsthand. Like we're two three two three years away from a shortstop in like grown up, home grown again, and Mookey moving in short I
kind of bought the whole second base. It would maybe take his like feet off and you know, getting a little rest, but moving a short it's going to be way more physically demanding. You know, Mookie's an athlete. I totally believe you can handle it, but I'm just worried. Yeah, it's going to carry over to the bat and then second base. Let's second. I think it's you know, it could be better to send him to the miner for a little bit and get his head right, and we got
the other guys to take it over. So I mean, I'm okay with it, but at the same time, I'm a little worried about the bat. So I appreciate you guys, Thank you, Jacob. Appreciate it. Yeah, I mean that's what I said all along. The bat. You know, the bat is the is the thing that I worry about with Mookie because shortstop is so demanding and it's a position where you can't take you can't take any time off. All right, Rodney, did you see the story in the Kobe statue? I did. I did. Wow. Yeah,
there's some mistakes on the Kobe statue. We'll talk about that. Oh, Freddy, freddy, freddy, Gosh, I feel bad. So you know, it just finished the third inning or is the top of the third for the Dodgers, and Gavin Lux is up. It's oh two count and he gets called on a pitchclock violation, strike three. I'm like, I mean he can't catch a break. No, No, that's really sad. I mean, if that look so maybe it was just a bad moment. He made a bad throw. Then he got called on a pitch clock violation.
But you know if that continues, because now you got to think he's putting the real pressure on himself. Oh, he's got all kinds of pressure in his head. It is rattling around there like nobody's business. He is overthinking everything, right, he's got a hit, he didn't. He can't make a mistake in the field. He did. Yeah, there are two things he's he can and can't do. Got a hit, can't make a mistake.
What do you do? Made a mistaken didn't hit? Yeah, And it's one thing I don't care if you're a little leaguer or your a professional athlete. When you when you don't have confidence or you have those yips like
that, it gets in your head so much. And I remember hearing Derek Jeter say this on the documentary The Captain that there were moments when he was in the minor leagues coming up when he lost all of his confidence that he would be playing shortstop and in his mind praying that the ball would not be hit to him. This is Derek Jeter right, right. So confidence is
everything when it comes to playing sports, and he is. I mean, he has just been dealt a hand where it I'm sure it feels like eight billion cameras are on him and the lenses are like Griffith Park observatory cameras looking at him and looking at every single move that he makes. All right, well, what did Dave say They leave Thursday for Korea? Yeah, all right, I'm saying Lunch is going to be in the opening day lineup. I hope. So I'm gonna say he's going to be their opening day Yeah,
I hope. So. I think at this point for them to move him three days before they leave and then not put him in the lineup, that's uh, that'd be even adding insult to even more jury that he has. That'd be right. Have you see, I'm sure you have. Have you seen the Kobe statue? Yes, yes, I have, beautiful I have to. You know, they're all great in their own way. He's got a couple more coming up, right, Yeah. This is a warm up statue, and the other statues will be difficult to top this one because
it is magnificent. If you've not been down to the Crypt to see it, get down there. I mean it is unbelievable. It is a fitting tribute to a great person. What's some errors? What's some mistakes on the statue? I didn't catch them. I didn't look that closely at it. I mean the duck. I was not fact checking. You know, the worst statue I've ever seen. And one of you guys will remember Washington now, the commanders, the former Redskins put up a statue of a guy and
it was so awful they had to take it down. Well was it was? I can't remember. I don't remember, but you you know, you can look it up. I can't remember. But it was like a wire thing. It didn't even look a statue. It was so bad. Was it like somebody trying to be artsy or was it just just a bad job when they tried to do it on the cheap? No, well, you know what, let's air on the side of somebody was trying to be artsy because you could air on the side of man. That was the cheapest thing
I've ever seen in my life. Anyway, for Kobe. Here are the errors, and this was captured by a German basketball journalist, Andre Voit. Let's see, there are several errors etched in the Marble bass, including Jose Calderon's and Von Wafer's names misspelled in the replica box score from Brian's eighty one point game between the Lakers and Toronto, and a formatting mistake on another side
of the base where Bryan's career accomplishments are listed. A like a spokesperson said, we've been aware of this for a couple of weeks, and we're already to work to get it corrected. Weeks. Weren't they aware of it before it went up? Like nobody looked at this before they unveiled it. Well, let's double check this. That's uh, where's our editor, the proof reader, where's that person? I mean, there's I've been I've seen it.
There's no way you'd picked that out unless you absolutely are looking for it. Yeah, I mean look, von Wafer's name is misspelled, and the replica box score Jose called the Rome's name is miss It would be picked up if if that was somebody that you knew or some you know, somebody you
were really familiar with. Like if if if there was a you know, a statue of someone and you happened to be they they caught you next to that person, like a statue of Fritz was going up, right, and then the shot they took of you and Fritz laughing on set or something like that, they put it up and they said, oh, the great Fritz Coleman, and next to him is fred Rogen and they spelled it within rogg a n right right. Anybody that knows you would go, wait a minute,
not wrong. Now, people coming from around the world they might say, oh, fred Rogen, Yeah okay, But people that know you were like, wait a minute, they spelled the name wrong, right, So maybe that was the case. Maybe this German reporter knew Calderone and said that's not I used Bill. Yeah. But the other side of it is maybe next time they should have a member of von Wafer's family in Jose Calderon's family inspected before it goes up. Yeah, maybe they should have run it pass
them, run it past them. You guys, okay with this? And what do you think it cost to correct something like that? I mean, the statue is nineteen feet tall. Yeah, what do you think. It's not like the guy's going out there with a hammer and a chisel. Let me just let me just fix this one thing. This one thing, well, good thing is not on is. You know, like if Kobe had a birthmark and they put it on his forehead instead of his cheek, we
gotta go. We gotta go, chainze. We got to cut off the head and we got to put it a new new face on it and really do redo everything. You know, it just chills a few different letters in there. You know. Here's the thing. Look, if you ding your car right, you ding the bumper a little bit, maybe they can you know, bang it out. Yeah, but here's what they tell you. Now, Well, I got to take off the whole bumper and half the side of the car exactly. Well, you know it's one piece. We
can't just fiddle around with this thing. We gotta take so I send it out right, just ding my bumper. What's that? It's four thousand dollars because I gotta take the bumper. But when I take the bumper, you understand, I gotta take the side near the tire. Then I gotta pain
everything to make it look the same. Yeah, all right, So in this situation, if they have to fix this, I'm telling you, if you go down to the crypt three o'clock in the morning, you're probably not going to see a guy with a torch out there, just try to change the name or something. They got to probably take that down some way or another, or rebuild it and figure out a way to put over the top. Yeah, I'm wondering that. That's a good question. How are they
going to fix it? And that how what effort did they put into fixing it? Like maybe they just do away with the names altogether. Why you're laughing the whole thing. Yeah, just take out the names. They don't need Calderon's name on there, Wafer's name I never heard. And I don't know if you guys know, and and maybe one of our listeners do you can tweet us because they're not gonna open the phone lines for this. What does that thing cost to make a statue like that? Yeah, that's a
good question. I don't know, I don't know. You know, part of it, I guess would depend on the materials used, Like, you know, is it a marble statue, is it a bronze statue? Is that you know, uh what what kind of materials that they use? So, but yeah, I would be interested to see, Yeah, what the cost of that is and are they all the same, you know, because if if they're not all the same, wouldn't some of them? Some people be mad. I think Oscar de la Hoya got screwed. He's had a
big one. Yeah, he's not a big one. Chick Hern is bigger than Oscar. Well, if you stood chick her and up, it would be pretty close, Bob Miller, you stood them up, Yeah, they'd be pretty close. Yeah. But what if yeah, what if Oscar is Uh, Oscar's made a copper and uh, you got Magic's made out of gold. You know, would Oscar be mad? You know? The other thing about it is though they've really done a nice job down there. It is pretty cool. Oh, those statues add a lot to the arena.
Yeah, I agree. I agree. It is a it's a focal point, and it's it's nostalgia, right, it's it's it's really cool to go down there and see that statue and you walk around and you see Magic and you see Kareem and and Kobe and even De la Joya. But the chick Hern one is very cool, Bob Miller is very cool. Yeah, it does add a lot to that. But you know what, I think Shaq is kind of lost in the back a little bit, a little bit.
You know, the other ones are so imposing in front and center, and then Shaq's hanging off the uh yeah, the railing because of the way he's designed. Because he's hanging from it's a dunk as opposed to an actual ground level stash old Reebok logo. Yeah, I get that, but I think he's kind of Here's what I think. I think Oscar de la Hoya. Really he looks like a like a little Tonka truck compared to the other ones. I mean, Wayne Gretzky's giant and the Kobe is monstrous and magic.
What do you think Oscar thinks when he walks by there, thinking, man, what am I better? I'm not here? Better, I'm not here, but I'll uh, I'll throw food dollars in. Can we redo mine? Can I just get a little more a little height, a little bit more height? Yeah, that's all I'm asking. I mean, I know I wasn't a heavyweight, but my god, I'm like invisible here. All right, h next hour we are going to have vic jump on, and of course we'll have some spirituality need it when we come back. Let's get
more into the Dodgers Rodney. Uh. The announcement of the starters for the Korea Games. Right on, all right
