Butts will join us at noon. Eric Dickerson is there from one to three. It is a big show. Our final chance to see you before the end of the year. It is a big show. We cannot wait to see you on Monday. Boy, that's a lot of good stuff we're giving away. Fred. I'm telling you we want everybody down there. If you dress like Santa or an Elf, I'll buy you lunch that I can do my last attempt.

If you get there early, I'll buy your drinks. Did not go so well. That was a bad call, Kevin, eh my man, Yeah, I can't do that, man. Yeah, you know, it's not often. I have actually get that at the show where he himself walks up and it wasn't quite like that, by the way. It just wasn't. My man, man, what the hell are you doing? What the hell are you doing? You can't be doing that, I said, why not, don I just want to thank everybody goes. Oh my god,

do you know how much trouble we can get into? I said, all right. I said, well, I promised every I swear to God. I said, well, I promised everybody goes. It's over right now. Do you remember that? I would No, don I promised everybody just what he goes. It's over right now. I remember vividly, trust me, and do it. Do it. Can't do it, he said, Look at that one guy sitting there. Look at that one guy. He can't

leave here. He's got to stay here. He can't even walk. So all right, I will buy a lunch and if a number of people show up dressed like Santa or an elf or or something festive in the holiday motif, too many people will buy one salad and everybody gets one of letters. Oh lord, let's not go crazy. I'm not buying five thousand lunches. But come Monday, we'll see everybody there. We look forward to it. I don't like my time in Detroit. Is that how it was? Yeah?

Yeah, everybody got the same leaf a salad for lunch in Detroit. Man come back. But at this point, you know, he probably has a pretty good idea. He's very kind of like legis to jack up the price, you know, on the team that he actually wants to go to. Uh. But you know, my guess is he driven right? And you know, I think he's probably done all the calculus in his head about a which situation will kind of vault me into the you know, the status

of player that I want to be. So I can't imagine that something. You know, again, everything nothing Dave Roberts said was shocking, Right, we already knew that he was the Dodgers were interested in him. It's common sense that if the Dodgers were interested in him, that they were going to meet with him at some point. And it's not like he really divulged any

secrets there about the meeting. So I just can't imagine that if he was going, you know, if he was set on becoming a Dodger, that Dave Roberts is kind of spilling this would be that big of a deal. Yeah, I agree with you. It's not not a big deal. But that being said, him having it all mapped out, like you said, do you think that there's possibly any resentment for or from from fans or even

you know, outside of him dragging this thing along? Yeah? I think so, right, I mean, just because I think the act has kind of gotten a little bit, you know. And now in his defense, I do wonder how much of this is Otani himself and how much of this is like the agent, right, you know, again, going back to that trip in seventeen in Japan, he spoke, he was available, just like any other player, right, I remember, you know, he was scheduled to start. He spoke the day before it starts. That's the way

pitchers normally do over there, spoke after the start. You know. When Nippon ham his that team came to spring training in Arizona one year, when he's still over there, you know, I went over, asked to speak to him. He was available, you know. So again I wonder how much of this is just kind of the agent wanting to kind of keep things

under wraps. So the one thing about Otani is he might not reveal much, but he's also I don't think he lies either, right, and so his agent has probably wanted to you know, the big deal has been made about how Oltani hasn't spoken at all since he he injured his elbow, and my guess some of that is because you know, again, Otani probably has an idea of what he wants to do, what he's looking for, and the agent probably wanted him to avoid having to answer those questions again because you

know, if he tips his hand, he's going to lose a lot of leverage there. So you know, what we've kind of seen from Otani again is that he kind of prioritizes being a pioneer, being a trailblazer, and you know, he very much values his his legacy, and I really think that that in the end is going to determine you know, what's what's going to happen now, you know, the public obviously, you know, I mean, right, every time the team gets knocked out in December, everybody

seems to be coming after Dave Roberts with pitchforks. You know, I don't think particularly fairly, but like you know, so the fact that such a big deal was made of what Roberts said. I think we'll probably add Ammo, you know, to the to the anti Dave Roberts crowd. But I think if you take a step back and look at this with sober eyes, I just can't see again how this would make the difference. If you're a beton man, what are you betten? Where does he end up? If

you're betting and you have to bet. I guess I would say the Dodgers, right, because they do make the most sense in terms of like what he's looking for. You know, he again when he before he left Japan, you know, he had a press conference in Tokyo, he did a couple of things about his goals. He said, I want to be the number one player in the world, and he said that, you know, to become the number one player in the world, I do feel you have

to win a World Series. So I do think winning is going to matter a lot to him. Now, you know, if he's kind of deluded into thinking after six years of senior you know what's going on with the Angel right, I do think right, like, the the ultimate way to win would be to win with the Angels. Now, I don't think that's possible. And my guess is that after six years, you know, enough like reality say, has been beaten into him. So you know, if he's going to look at like, Okay, where can I win? Who has

a chance to do it every single year? You know. The one thing about the Dodgers they get there every October. You know, and I do think too that not only do they get there every October, but there's kind of this feeling right now right that they're going to having trouble kind of getting over that hump, even though they want in that COVID shortened season, you

know, and I do feel that. You know, if he comes and they win, he will be viewed as that difference maker, right whereas maybe he's say, if he goes to the Texas Rangers, hey they just won. They just won without him, you know, and maybe he wouldn't be that difference maker. So uh, you know, to me, the Dodgers make the most sense. The only reason I kind of hesitate on that is because again, you know, Toddi's the type of guy when everybody says go

left, he goes right. You know. One thing that's kind of I think maybe underplayed a little bit too, is when he you know, turned professional in Japan. The consensus was that this two way thing was going to fail, right, nobody thought he could do it. Yet he insisted on doing it, you know. And so he's the type of guy everybody says go left, he goes right. The fact that everybody's saying he's going to go to the Dodgers, I think it's the probably the one thing that probably

maybe even the most is working against the Dodgers. Yeah, I listen, I agree with that. I think he ends up with the Dodgers. And and but what do you think about the Dodgers? I mean, it kind of was the feeling that this offseason they had kind of set things aside, that all intentions were, we're going to go all in on Otani, and looks like it may happen. And also it looks like they're going to go after Yamamoto too, are they Are the Dodgers playing it right this offseason,

especially if they get a vault. I mean, here's the thing, right that I think I think Otani's in a separate category because of what he brings in from an advertising revenue standpoint, you know, I think, you know, Mike P. Givanna my colleague reported at the Angels, you know, we're making more than ten million dollars in just a in stadium advertising. You know. Jack Harris, R. Beat writer spoke to you know, some Baseball EGX executives who guess that you know, with the Dodgers, say that

total could be you know, forty fifty million dollars. Right, So this is a guy who's almost going to pay for himself, you know, I know you kind of right. We all was kind of rolled our eyes when we hear your agents talk about that. But this is the one player for whom that might actually be true. So I think Otani's almost kind of a separate thing. You know. With Yamamoto, it's kind of interesting, is that I've heard I've been told that he's a very big Dodger fan, you

know. Now that said, we've seen reports of this thing climbing closer to like three hundred million dollars. I don't think the Dodgers are going to be in it like at that price point, right, And now, you know, we have seen with Japanese players, you know, who come here, they're ready millionaires when they come here, right, and you know, we have seen them maybe give up money to play for the team they want to,

you know, to be in a particular location. I could see yamamotives giving up some money, you know, maybe twenty million, thirty million. I'm not sure he's going to be willing to give up like one hundred plus, you know, because again, I'm not sure the Dodgers necessarily go up to that two hundred million dollars level. For Youmamoto, he's a smaller guy, you know, and you know, to me, kind of the comp is, you know, and not a lot of people have kind of pushed

back against this, but it's Kenta Mayeta, right. People forget ken To Mayeta was really really good in Japan, but similar to Yamamoto's kind of a smaller guy, you know. And that's the thing. They pitched once a week over there, you know, ken Ta Mayda used to be ninety five to ninety eight, just the way Yamamoto is, right, pitching once a week, you come here every five days, that ninety five to ninety eight turns into ninety two to ninety five. And it's kind of hard to pitch

in Major League Baseball without that dominant fastball. I kind of questioned, again, how successful he's going to be over here, and you know, just kind of again, we haven't really seen the Dodgers kind of make that type of commitment to a pitcher right outside of Clayton Kershaw. So I don't really see that actually happening, you know, again, unless like Yamamoto is just

dead set on just okay, I need to be a Dodger. I don't care about the finances, but at some point, I do think, right, you want to feel wanted, and I think a lot of these other teams. You know, there was a report that Steve Cohen, the owner of the New York Mets, flew all the way to Japan to meet with him. Uh, you know, star players want to feel wanted. And you know, my guess is that, actually, you know, regardless of whether Otani ends up with the Dodgers or not, my guess is that they're

going to go in another direction. And that direction could be Blake Snell, could be any number of possibilities. Uh. Yeah, again, Snell is going to be a two hundred million dollars plus guy, right, I don't think I think it's going to be probably closer to what we've seen, uh, you know in recent years where they're going to get a lot of kind of you know, reclamation projects type skuys, you know, the Lucas Giolito

type. You know, they'll have the open camp would say, you know, ten potential starting pitchers, you know, some of whom I'm going to get hurt, and kind of whoever's left at the end of the season's kind

of going to be left. You know. One thing that is working in their advantage I think this year is the fact that you know, Dylan Ceese appears to be on the trading block, Corbyn Burns could potentially be on the trading block, and so that does open the avenue for them to either make a deal, you know, in the off season, or make a deal

uh, you know, closer to the trade deadline. Right So, but I I don't really see them all of a sudden just kind of shifting strategy and saying, Okay, you know what, we're going to go out and look for a pitcher, uh and give that nine million dollars, nine figure

deal when there really isn't that you know, that horse out there. I don't think you know, as good as Blake Snell is and his stuff is electric on a good day, he's a six inning guy, right, and you do have to kind of, you know, wonder, Okay, this guy really kind of worth that kind of money. Uh. You know.

My guess is, you know, when it comes when it comes down to these types of decisions, Dodg just front office and you usually said no. So you know, if they don't get all tiny, my guess is that this most fans are going to be pretty underwhelmed by what happens is winter. Uh della, let me just really quick shift tonight Lakers semi finals of the

nd season tournament. Do you think it's been a success. Yeah, for sure, you know, I think uh, you know, you know, and I was not buying this at all at the beginning, right you know, I know kind of the FA Cup you know in England with the soccer was kind of brought up as a comparison, but that's almost like a completely separate thing right where they're bringing in you know, lower division teams. You know, I think the equivalent that that would be, you know, if

they had brought in teams from like Europe and stuff. And I was thinking, Okay, if they did that, that'd be kind of cool. But you know, these games count for both the regular season and this thing. But yeah, I think I think it has been you know, and I think the efforts that the players that put in and even you know, we saw some strategic things right because of the point differential stuff, and you know,

Lebron James has also just been amazing, right. I mean, I think early in the season I wrote something about, you know, kind of expressing my concern about how hard Lebron was going and you know, Okay, now he's bound to There's no way he can sustain this. It's weird, right, with every passing week he actually looks younger and fresher, you know where. I think his most recent games have been some of his most impressive.

So I think, you know, him being in the tournament is also kind of a good thing, right because we do like star players, especially in basketball. And yeah, it absolutely has been a success. All right, Dylan, thanks for coming on. Really appreciate it. Have a good weekend, Okay, sank to you guys. Thanks everybody. Dylan Hernandez of the La Times. We're giving away the Burke Williams Gift card between now and when we get off the air at two o'clock. Not yet, not yet, not yet, but when we come back, we'll have spirituality. Roddy Pete, Fred Rogan throw Back Thursday. Come on, come

on, it's almost Christmas, Rodney. We need some spirituality, Yes, we do. Oh by the way, did you see the picture of the court they're going to use tonight in Vegas? I just saw that. Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Do you think the color black would clash with that in any way? Now, if you weren't with us, the NBA told the Lakers they couldn't wear their black jerseys because it would clash with the court. So we've got a picture of the court and there is no way

possible. Yeah, it's red and like a royal blue. There's no way possible it would clash with that court. Court looks cool, don't get us wrong. Yeah, but there's no way possible. So they just told him we couldn't wear them. They wanted him to wear a certain color. That's what it is. And I'll bet you they think, Kevin Rodney, they think that the uniforms will pop on that court, and that's why they told him to wear them. The gold will pop and the white will pop.

And yeah, I think that's what happened. Yeah, because otherwise it makes appy. We just say that we're grown we're grown ass. People just say that. Don't say, oh, well, it's gonna clash with the court, and we don't know we should wear the black, And they just say, we think it's better for television. The visual is going to be better if you guys wear the gold jerseys. That's exactly right, Kevin, You agree, Yeah, I don't think most of us would disagree with that notion

if they said it. No, Hey, it makes sense. I get it. I think I still think the team should be able to choose, but I mean, I understand there's a rationale behind it. I get it. Yeah, And you got to remember, these are all TV shows, they're made for TV events. You know, back in the day, you'd go to the game and you'd be it's all about the game. Now it's all about TV and how it translates and the money they can generate. So that's what it was. Although the court does look cool, I let to

have spirituality here. He comes to provide that spirituality for us. It's Victor Brick with the daily haikup and vic good afternoon. He is held presidente of the Eduardo Rodriguez Fan Club. It's Fred Rogan Boo, that guy immersed in the spirit of this holiday season. Rodney Pete immersed immersed, Yes, f

TP. He illuminates us like the one hundred and fifteen foot Christmas tree at the Citadel and Kevin figures, come on Na, that is some tree by the way, that's the largest in La it is and rock and round our Christmas trees with serene melodies, everybody dancing Merry Lee, fossil spin that dradle with King flavor Yah high to life. Everybody. Well, the Winter Meetings are over in Nashville. And there were two stars of the Winter Meetings,

right, Who were they? Viva Sense Dave Roberts for being fearless in the face of this phony edict from the agents. This was not as Dylan as Dylan. And then there's pointed out and I've pointed out, you know, since it went down by the sources that said you can't speak of the meetings with Otis, Dave said, yeah, we met with him. So Viva Dave Roberts one of the heroes of Nashville. Don't know if that would qualify as a heronlle Yes. I mean, you know, that's nice. He

did it, but I don't know if it makes my hero big. He was open and candid and that got a lot of respect from oltony Son. Again, don't know that My gut instinct thing, Oh my god, Big, you the best thing. So, if you have any us, if you have any angst in this whole process directed towards the agency and not toy Son selfless, Yes, he has grand plans for his career and he is looking at every corner, looking and investigating and doing his due diligence. That's

all he's done. So if you have any anks in this process directed towards the agency, if the agency even made this edict, I don't know. I never got I never saw an edict towards the media or towards baseball, saying any leaks will be penalized. I never saw that. I think that was trumped up. So basically, what you're saying is, you've spent a lot of time with Otani Son, you know him personally, You've talked to

him many many times. I have. I've just said, I thought, because you you know, I have sources in Japan for many many years. If I can, if I can retrace steps six years ago when he came to the Angels, had a horrific training camp, and I was one of the you who said, this guy is a natural, this guy is going to be a sensational hitter. Don't worry what happened in Arizona. He's just adjusting. And of course you saw what happened six years later. He's now

the Unicorn and the greatest player maybe in the history of baseball. So I've always had a gun instinct. Donald Tanya Son and we we we have had the pleasure of seeing him in Anaheim for six years. What's really interesting is that the Angel somehow was still in the mix. They say that Brett, but I don't know. I don't know what to believe. Anymore. Exactly right. I mean they're still in the mix. The hated ones were in the mix, the Cubs were in the mix. They're ol Texas Rangers out.

Uh, anyone in the East Coast out. That's that. That is the feel I get from my sources, all right. So who's in from your sources? Dodges, Dodges, Dodges, Well, and that's it. So he's coming to the Dodgers. He met with, he met with Toronto. But again East Coast is not the way of a tiny sign. But that's according to your sources. It's according to my sources and my gut instinct. Okay, So you don't which one do you trust more? He doesn't

know. It doesn't matter. He doesn't know. The second star, of course, our David Vessey with the amazing Winter Meetings Dodger Talk show from the Farm of brad Paisley with Dave Roberts Chris Archer. That was a sensational, sensational show. And again we congratulate Dave again rock star status for DV. So how about the Soto trade to the Yankees? What the toe to the Bronx? You want to talk about that? It's a major trade Joe.

All right, we'll talk about that when we come back. Who wants Burke Williams the two hundred and fifty dollars gift card to Burke Williams eight six, six nine eighty seven two five seventy You open the phone lines or Rodney, who's going number seven? Call her seven Jacobs. Come on now, Henry

and Lake Balboa a way to go. It's enjoy the holidays and am five to seventy has your chance to escape the chaos and retreat into peace with a two hundred and fifty dollars Burke Williams gift card to enjoying eighty minute massage or facial visit Burke Williams dot com slash holiday for the perfect holiday gift. Okay, Vic, well done, Henry, enjoy the serenity. Good job, Henry, you dial the phone. Congratulations, well done. You gotta make

well done from VIC for Burke Williams rules. That's solid. Rodney goes there all the time. I sure do love it. I can spend all day there and I have so Soto to the New York Yankees, a seven player deal padres get some young pitching, some flotsam and jetsam but they unload the big contract. I think that deal, I think both. I think it was win win Fred because obviously the Yankees need a marquee name besides Aaron Judge.

You know, Stanton's been a bust basically, you know, constantly injured, and the team has been an embarrassment, uh to New York and the the Yankee the Pinstripe legacy. They've been embarrassing. So they needed a big name. They got Soto. They're gonna move Aeron Judge the center field, and he got Verdugo Soto in the corners and then he got Judge in center. So it's a nice outfield for the Yankees. So it's good. It's good for it's good for baseball if the Yankees or winning, just like it's

great for baseball when the Dodgers are winning. So I applaud the deal, seven player blockbuster as we always love. So congratulations to both teams from making from making the El Higante move. And how about the Lakers tonight, I know you've hit about hit on the uniforms the whole thing. Rodney hit me, Yeah, I hit him. Going back into black was not a reality for the for the Lakers, tonight in Las Vegas against the Pelicans. Unfortunately.

You know, why are you yanking the Lakers chains? Yeah? Why? The black was fabulous. They were winning. I think they're undefeated in black. It looked really cool. The team really enjoyed it, and they played better in the uniforms. Like you say, Rodney, you look good, you play good. Yeah, baby, it is thank you ac DC. So they will not be back and black. They're working. They were in the purple against the Pelicans, but just to be in position and being

in a game of will it's really cool. I applaud the league, Adam Silver. It was a tremendous movement for it. From the beginning. You were into it. You said it was gonna work, and indeed it has worked. So Lakers with a nice a nice move tonight. Looking forward to seeing the squad run against the Pelicans, who are playing good ball. Zion Williamson his back, y'all, Zion's playing well. How do you think Brandon Ingram plays tonight? Man, What a sensational ex Laker. He's a star.

He's a star. BI comes to play tonight. I think he drops thirty plus. Yeah, Brandon Ingland's almost undefensible. Once he eat, sort of like a Kawhi Leonard, you know, once he gets into position, you know, within eighteen feet, it's like a layup for him. Tremendous ball player, and I want to give some loves to the Clippers last night. That was a magnificent victory over a team they had lost eight in a row. Two the world champion Nuggets, you know, lost in the Beard's

game, which was sensation e eleven assists, twenty points. The Beard was tremendous there blending with the Beard, Russell Westbrook off the bench, just vital energy. That was the key to the game was Russell in that fourth quarter, crashing glass and providing that impetus. You know, Russell is lost in this whole Beard in corporation because he went to the bench voluntarily. He said, I would just want to help the team win. So give it up

for Russell Westbrook play a sensational game last night. You know, the numbers don't always say how well you're balling, and Russell was bowling last night. So the Clippers are ten and ten and they're finding the way with Harden. I'm digging it. Well, you knew they would. They have to. There's no choice. Yeah, listen to you lose an excellent coach. And also how about some love for the Kings. Tonight on the road they go for a record eleven in a row in Montreal and where Montreal candadov No.

No one calls it moreal Montoreal. No one calls it Montreal. They call it Montreal. Vic, I'm going full on front safe for your friend. Go ahead, Vic, say it again, Vic Morial Real things of the road, y'all. Yeah, tonight Montreal Fredreal, No, I don't. I don't know if that's even how they say it in French. Moreal French. I studied it. I took two years of French junior high school. Give me a break. We both know it. Anyway they win Tonight they

said an NHL record twelve straight on the road. Would that be unbelievable? Ken looked at the road. I mean, just it's an unbelievable records to break doesn't get you know enough love? So just to be in position. Congratulations to you know, to the la guys. If you like, I can play for you? What yes, lady, how she pronounces Montreal in her French accent. Love it all right? Let's see, Oh you're right, Vig. It's a bad yet right to the side of your head there,

Fred, damn right head good, you're right crazy go tonight. You can listen, of course, on the Crazy three. iHeartRadio apps. I don't even know what that means, a king's radio. I want to know what. He just keeps talking. Game. It's a humongous game for the king. Yes, you know where that leads Vic back to the source, Fred, Yes, the hikup for you on this Thursday, December the seventh. It's a Hanuka haiku from who I just threw it down. Oh so

you're saying there's no great Jewish haikup master. No, I just threw it down from Okay, here we go Jewish haiku master. What festival of lights? As Adam Sandler says, eight crazy night, I'm feeling you. I threw it down. Yeah, you threw it down. Boy, it's pretty solid. Pick Adam Sandler ate crazy. Thanks. Maybe you can just take a part of an Adam Sandler saw next week and you can go with that happy Yes, all right, So I'm going tomorrow. I'm going to do

a Manhattan Kansas Josh Rose. Yeah, congratulations, job will walk at Kansas State University upon his graduation. Worth thrilled Ronnie, thank you, Kevin appreciated as well, Rodney, have a terrific show to my own a great weekend. Folks will see it all Monday in Hollywood Park. That's the cool case. Can guess walking matd option now So I'm stressing. Of course, we're more to be free than the life in the BA, making money, your

custo words, fighting the key, learn how to take your hand. So I'm fighting with my pe late night setting, liking to see what's the worst they can do to a player? Got me lost in hell? To live in time and lake? Oh Bill, what do you say that from the man that plays deep? To live in tire? That lake
