Episode description

In this episode, Jerry Kennedy sits down with animal chiropractor Dr. Katie Lackey to explore the fascinating and often overlooked world of animal chiropractic care. From horses and dogs to ducks, llamas, and even bearded dragons, Dr. Katie shares how she got started, what it’s like treating non-verbal patients, and the powerful results she sees in practice.

The conversation covers a wide range of topics including the scope of animal chiropractic, state regulations, and the logistics of running a mobile practice. Dr. Katie talks about the tools she uses (or avoids), the importance of understanding animal behavior, and the emotional bond formed between pets and their people. She also dives into the business side—touching on patient volume, pricing strategies, and why excellence and ethical care are non-negotiable.

All right, Katie, thanks for hanging out with me. I appreciate it.

Katie

Yeah, thanks for having me on.

Jerry Kennedy

All right. So you invited me on your podcast and it got my wheels turn in because I've never actually talked to an, animal chiropractor before. And we did your podcast and I told you, I was going to my curiosity had got the best of me and I wanted to have you on my podcast so we could just talk shop. And so I'm glad you agreed to do that.

... Katie: Yeah, so I'm actually a practicing animal chiropractor full time, but apparently I have too much time on my hands because I started a podcast because people kept calling me, how do you run your business? And I was tired of answering the phone and answering the same question over and over again. So I started to start a podcast and the podcast grew into a Facebook group because I was kind of shouting into the void and people had follow up questions. So sort of Facebook group. then that

It has been fun. I've enjoyed it. I'm glad you came on. I'm glad we did this. I'm glad you reached out to me and we'll talk again soon. Okay. All right. Bye.
