Episode description

Rock Docs: A Podcast About Music Documentaries

Season 2 Finale! Today's documentary is Festival Express, a 2003 film directed by rock doc lifer Bob Smeaton.

Festival Express is about a rock festival tour that took place in Canada in 1970. The musicians included The Grateful Dead, The Band, Janis Joplin, Buddy Guy, Delaney and Bonnie, Ian and Sylvia, local heroes Mashmakhan, and of course everyone's favorite, Sha Na Na. They all (well, mostly) piled on a train and the film includes lots of footage of the musicians jamming and drinking the train ride away, as well as performances from the festivals.

Thanks again to everyone who's followed along through Season 2. We'll have more Rock Docs episodes coming at you every Tuesday as we gear up for Season 3.
