Episode description

Are you looking to make an impact? Disrupt the market with your product or service? Starting a startup is exciting, fun and maybe also a little bit scary. How do you go about starting a startup?

On today's episode of Scoutcast - Roasting Marshmallows, we have invited Manuel Cayre of ParkNow (known in the Netherlands as Parkmobile), an app that helps people pay for parking, to share with you his experience on starting up a startup. In the past, Manuel has co-founded MobyPark, a peer2peer parking platform, but he also initiated TuRodeo with Henrique Santana de Miranda (a regular on the podcast, also present), who himself has had a startup called Goosit in the past. Manuel eventually passed the torch to a new team at MobyPark, and the company is still going strong, whereas Henrique decided to pull the plug on Goosit.

Today, we will talk about the different approaches these gentlemen took: why was Manuel's startup successful, while Henrique's startup was not? And, more importantly: what can you learn from this?
