Episode description

Saul openly orders Jonathan and his servants to kill David, but Jonathan intercedes for his friend, temporarily restoring reason to his father. When David's continued military success rekindles Saul's jealousy, the king makes another attempt on David's life with his spear. David escapes to his home, where Michal helps him flee through a window, deceiving Saul's messengers with a household idol in David's bed. David takes refuge with Samuel at Ramah, where God's Spirit remarkably falls on Saul's pursuing messengers and ultimately on Saul himself, rendering them unable to harm David. This supernatural protection illustrates how divine purpose cannot be thwarted by human opposition—a principle that would later safeguard Jesus until "his hour had come" to fulfill his redemptive mission.
