The Impossible Standard

Have you ever tried to live up to the standard, or image of another person? In Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus addresses the issue of The Law. This was a standard set by God to help them see their need for forgiveness and a savior. However, they missed the point and attempted to live up to a standard they were never intended to meet. Likewise many of us misunderstand and misapply the Word of God to our lives today. We misunderstand grace by trying to earn our standing with God, rather then trusting the work of Jesus on the cross to make us righteous.
