The catchy idea with MMT is that fiscal deficits don’t matter and that governments can print money to pay their expenses. I’m going to unpack a lot of what MMT is and deconstruct a few myths around the theory. It’s an expansive topic that’s been put forth by some of the brightest minds in finance so I definitely won’t be making every argument for and against it today but this will be a good primer to build from.
