Summary

As the July Revolution entered its second day, Parisians stayed up all night building thousands of barricades across the city, effectively trapping royalist forces. Marshal Marmont's strategic blunders, including sending troops out in poorly supported columns, led to their encirclement and defeat in street-by-street fighting. Meanwhile, liberal opposition leaders attempted to negotiate with the King's representatives, but the King's refusal to concede led to a political stalemate, pushing the liberals towards seeking regime change in favor of the Duc d'Orléans. The third day saw the complete collapse of royal authority in Paris with the storming of the Tuileries Palace.
