Still Game Live (1999) with Chatsunami
Episode description
Satsu from Chatsunami returns to review the 1999 stage show Still Game-the precursor to the Scottish TV sit-com Still Game (2002). Written by Greg Hemphill and Ford Kiernan 'Still Game' ran from 2002-2007, then 2016-2019 and chronicled the lives of the two Septarians and their friends in the fictional Craiglang area of Glasgow.
They may be older, but they are Still Game for life!
Discussion Points:
-The origins of Still Game (2002).
-The amount of swearing in the stage show.
-The Glaswegian language during the series.
-The emotional backbone of the series.
-How the show never laughs at age, but instead shows how we could all learn from the older generation.
-The tragic central characters of British Comedy shows.
-The industrial past of parts of Scotland and the North East of England and the impact of the closure of these heavy industries on those areas.
-The social commentary of the series, which is so organically and respectfully done.
-Satsu dares to do asides on Review It Yourself!
