Xbox is finally here, mostly, pretty much.
And uh there's an emulator, both a free version and a paid version. We'll talk about that. RG Vita Pro got a brand new trailer today, so we can take a look at that and see what this RK thirty five seventy six can really do. Uh, B has as many long hand held in, so we'll get hands on for a moment and just get his thoughts on that. And uh so much more. And we got the new segments again tonight, so we're gonna have some fun. Live chat, how are you all doing out there? Let's go. Good evening.
Let's get this week going. Yeah, Matt, sorry about the backlog of R H content. We just thought we just keep churning about. Stubbs, what's going on? Is your shaver too close? Yeah, I'm growing the beard back, man. I'm growing the beard back. It's been I'm not allowed to shave my beard ever. I I I hope you all I don't think we should. I know. Oh no. Andrew, are you breaking our AI rule? No. I don't know if that's AI or not, but
That picture's also been there for like two years. Yeah, I was like it came it came after last year's scene. Oh with Andrew. Okay, everybody out there. I hope you're having an awesome week so far. Daylight savings is kicking my butt. Already my brain is mostly here, but we'll see how we can get through this. I don't know you guys are feeling. Rob, I know no change for you in Arizona. You lucky man. No. No. Well wake up business as usual. Ah, we need to get on your level here. I agree.
It's been uh I don't know you guys are doing, uh how's your weekend? But uh for here, it was it was pretty decent. Got to play some music on Friday night after episode with Sujano and stayed out way too late. way too late, uh but caught up in sleep this weekend. So I could tell when a message came in at like three AM. Yeah. We got I wanna got tight. I'm gonna get you the the Sam Jackson version of
Go the to sleep. I know. I know. You you guys what are you doing? Why are you awake? I'm like, I don't know, stuff needs to get done. I can't sleep. I think you need the help. I think you need the the sweet sound of Samuel Jackson to lull you to bed. You know what? That's fair. I'll I'll take you up on that. Can you lull me to sleep? Can you whisper in my ears? I can record a version for you, yes. Okay, all right.
I'll load it on a dApp for you. Thank you very much. I hope it's the M300 or the Any Oasis Y1. Yes, sir. Yeah, I know you love that any. There's an any than an outie. Hello. Hello, Andrew. Hello, Andrew. We need a beard for Minnie Andrew. Hi. Did you hear that? Hello. Say hi. Oh wave? Can you wave? What can you say? What's his first retro handheld? That's what we need to know. I have no idea. Is he taking an interest?
Rubber duckies. Yeah, rubber ducky is the way to go. Be duck. B duck. He's gonna be duck. Yeah. Dude, I honestly thought about buying one. Four. That's awesome. Yeah pocket or mini media solutions. Incredible. He keeps putting the the microphone filter on top of the duck. He's podcast ready. Okay, so let's go ahead and dive in, guys. Uh Ben, hope uh uh oh yeah, I forgot to catch I'm so slow today. Ben, what what what are you been up to this week? This weekend.
¶ Personal Gaming and Tech Updates
Just like usual, not a whole lot, just uh uh most recently a lot of PC benchmarking. Right. Yeah. I saw you talk covering that uh over the weekend. You're doing some mini PC testing, right? I got two mini PCs in as well as a laptop from Geekom in for review. Oh, that's right. Geekom's making laptops now. Yeah, this this thing.
I don't know how well that's even visible. That one looks really nice though. It's really light. It's like I think they said it was just under two and a half pounds. That's not bad. And that's a sixteen inch screen? Yeah, it's a sixteen inch uh sixteen by ten display, seventy-seven watt hour battery. And I believe it ships with the actual processor it's supposed to.
Yes, a core one eighty five H. Other Chinese brand. My favorite feature, which is really n not a whole lot, is the micro S D card that they've actually given with the rest of the ports. So
¶ Anbernic RG Vita Pro Teaser
More to come on Geekom. A lot of benchmark. Benchmark it up. Yeah. Thank you, sir. Rob, what do you ah? That's not Rob. Rob, what do you What's going on? I beat Resident Evil Requiem. Congratulations. Awesome. Awesome. Incredible. Super creepy game. There are parts where just man, the atmosphere is amazing on it, but
What a great game. Yeah. I really enjoy that one. And I finally started Pokemon uh Pocopia. Poco Pocopia? Is it Pocopia or Pokopia? I don't know. I don't know. Someone tell me how to pronounce it correctly. I don't know how to Pocopia. I like to say Pocopia, but I've been told that's not right either. So I don't know what's right. I like po I don't know what's real anymore in this world, you know. Pokemon. So
Po po Pokiopia. Poco Pokyopia. Pokeyopia, I think is how it's supposed to be. But it's it's been so much fun too. I've been enjoying it. It's a very, very chill game, very cozy type of game, you know. But I'm... Really? And having fun with it. I'm kind of blown away by uh just the amount of content that there is already this early on in the game. It's just like wow. It's like Dragon Quest Builders as I understand it, but Pokemon. Mm-hmm.
Yes. Okay. Yes. It's m it's more toward leaning towards Dragon Quest Builders than it is um, you know, something like Animal Crossing. It's it has like like the cozy vibes, but it's definitely more Dragon Quest Builders. So if you're a fan of that game. You can definitely like this one. Okay. All right, everybody. Check out uh.
I like how we've got like at least four different pronunciations in chat. I'm like, this is not helping. How's it pronoun How do you think it's pronounced? The the youth of the nation here. Oh no you just dropped his duck. Hold on. Meltdown incoming. Looks like uh looks like previous Sony's pulling us up. Yes. It looks colorful, fun.
¶ Buildaboy Lego Game Boy Kit
He doesn't know what to pronounce it. He just keeps putting the the guard back on the phone. And I've been playing so much Wobbly Life that this just reminds me of Wobbly Life. Apparently there's a mouse mode.
Which is a game changer for those that really want to get into like the whole, you know, building and decon deconstructing and all that stuff. Finally using the switch to mouse mode. Yes. I saw a video of it. I was like, oh, that's a game changer for a short. Let's go. Okay, this looks pretty good actually. How much is this? Seventy bucks? Yeah. Oh okay. Well Soon. TM. Also, I just love that I love everything looking like Ditto. It cracks me up. Ditto's face on everything just it's just a vibe.
Oh good. But yeah, this is a game I can see myself just enjoying for a long time. It's like one of those kind of games you can always pick up and play and just kind of progress in it. But I like that it actually has like very specific goals that you can you meet and you can actually accomplish things in the game.
¶ MiniLoong Pocket 1 Impressions
In the world is our huge. Like, I mean, you can see just get an idea of like how expansive it is. It's insane. No, th this this game is really funny because I think like the initial reaction when this game was first announced was like, uh this looks stupid. No one wants this, no one asked for this and now everybody wants It looks it does look pretty good. I uh
Might have to pick this up when it's on sale though. Other games from Nintendo are on sale because of Mario Day. So happy Mario Day Eve. Oh yeah, that's tomorrow. Tomorrow. Yeah. March tenth. Mar E oh. It's very exciting. Very good. There's a sale also in Humble Bundle you can check out too. And Uh from Nintendo directly. All right everybody, well let's hop on go ahead and hop into the news here. RG Vita Pro. We have a new trailer from uh Ambernik here. So this is an RK thirty five seventy six.
RK thirty five seventy six. It has a ten eighty P display rather than the seven twenty P display in the RGB. Is this down from this morning or is it um Which if anyone wasn't paying attention, this video got posted like earlier last week and then taken down within an hour. It's very top secret. The world was was waiting on baited breath. And now Here we go. So let's let's take a look and see what this thing can do.
It's supposed to be a little bit more powerful than the uh T six eighteen, but I think the big differentiation is that it's on uh Android and Linux rather than just Android. And Russ is saying hopefully that four gigabytes of RAM will make it feel snappier. Yeah, r okay. Yeah. Six would have been good. We got four.
Now I hope that's a true four gigabytes and not like these incoming reports we're also seeing about the three four XXP, just a tangent, which some people were showing was having uh five hundred twelve megabytes, which could just be misreporting.
¶ GameMT EX8 Handheld Details
But uh yeah, I hope what they what they show is is what it is. That white looks nice though. I do really like the white on this one. Uh I think it makes a little bit more sense than the DMG colorway on the standard RG Vita. I mean early early thoughts from Gamma who has one of these in hands is yeah, it's better than the than the RG Vita. Uh I don't know how much better yet. Having the dual boot option though will be really nice. I don't know how excited I am for it overall though. It's it's
The comments on that video are hilarious. Oh yeah, we gotta Oh no. But I think White's the best looking one of these for sure. The first comic clutch. Lists a lot of consoles it can emulate. You know what when it is missing, the Vita. Yeah. That's we wonder we wonder what Ambernik is really doing here. No one is gonna let that name go. No. Ever. It's just They could have called it anything else. If they had called it the RGPSP, I think a lot of people would have been fine.
Because it would have set expectations. No, not really. Not even close. Well yeah I can't pr I can't remember who mentioned this to us now, but they they mentioned that the Vita trademark is something they can y they can say Vita, but calling it the PSP might get them in a little more trouble. Because Sony can't you know,'cause Vita's too much of a generic Vita is life. It never stopped Ammernik before. It's also very true. They all showed benefit of the doubt. Yeah, well. All right.
More to come on Ambernik. Okay, so not only that, but Buildaboy, so if you're looking at uh putting some usable bits inside of your Game Boy DMG, the Lego Game Boy DMG, it actually can be turned into uh an actual uh handheld now. So the sign up page is live on crowd supply. Check that out. Really cool. We have an article out on our website about that. How much is the kid, do you know? Good question. Yeah, I think it was That's fine.
It's not listed. The price isn't listed yet on the the crowd supply page. It's just a subscribe for updates. Put your email in kind of thing. Uh but we're getting we're getting closer to release, which is awesome as I'm so excited for this. Fantastic. So y you know, you're sixty bucks in the hole for the Game Boy Lego itself, and then to get the parts we'll see, but hopefully not over about a hundred dollars.
I hope that's the the high I'm sure they uh are they gonna offer kits where it's pre built and you can just buy it out, right? I'm sure.'Cause that would make sense to me. Natalie the nerd is who's running this. Mm-hmm. I wonder if she'd want to come on the podcast. Yeah, I don't know if you guys I don't know if you guys remember, but we c I covered last year um the tr the fully transparent, I think it was a Game Boy Color mod. With the transparent uh P C B and that's who did that. Okay.
She's doing she's doing this. Uh She does a bunch of different stuff for the Game Boy commodity and stuff like that. Well, stay tuned. Natalie, super cool. Love to get you on the podcast and and talk about this when it's release time.
¶ Dreamcast VMU Multiplayer Project
Okay, we also got ban. You got your mini long there. Should we take a look? Oh. Yeah, so it came in like earlier today, but I have the um the mini long pocket came in earlier. Um, it's an RK3566, but rather than the standard three and a half inch display, it has a Four inch nine sixty P display. I wanna say that's correct. Um, and rather than use the standard like Arcos, Rocknik,
whatever kind of software. They have their own um they call it Lo Loong. I don't know if it's long or Loong OS. It's long OS. Yeah, you gotta say it like you have to say where it's long. But it has a very Android-esque menu system to it. Man. Where everything is kind of All stacked up right now. People don't know this is a modular handheld. Like you can swap the D pad out, you can swap uh face plates off. So if you want to change the colors up.
So pretty pretty cool for what, about a hundred bucks there? Um, I paid eighty two on AliExpress for mine. I do know Andrew mentioned that they kinda came to uh Amazon as well, I think for around the same price. Um I so I think they're around eighty to ninety dollars there as well. It comes in this white colorway as well as a retro, you know, like the Game Boy Single. I ordered the retro one. It'll be for our AliExpress AliExpress unboxings in probably end of this month. We'll see that.
Yeah. Um I don't know if you can see it, but this is a front facing speaker. Um it actually gets pretty loud. Oh, and it's actually on Amazon too. Yeah.
¶ Xbox Emulation Arrives on Android
The uh the only two things that I kind of have to comment on right away are that the micro SD card slots are super inset. So you kind of really have to put a nail into it. And then the face buttons are Pretty light as well to press. They kind of remind me like someone mentioned that the font on this is a identical to the Mangmi Pocket Air. But they're really small and light pressy buttons, similar to like the Pocket S Mini.
From company that Stubbs cannot name. Long duck dung. Lung duck dung O F you can say mini Lul that Guardian Beard Eyes are saying something to prank me in chat. I don't know what it's about. I just got You kinda see the similarities in those buttons. They're pretty close in size and they're both really easy to press buttons. So I guess if that's your thing then you kind of know you're good in either way.
But yeah, I like it so far. Um I'll probably have a review up for it as well. So check out the website everybody for bands continuing coverage of the Mini Loom. I I will figure out how to say its name one day. It does look pretty cool. You know, the you're only getting one gigabyte of RAM is the tough part for a thirty five sixty six, but The modular thing is pretty damn cool. Yeah, I I just wanna know where you can buy the replacement like face buttons and uh
The front panels. So I'm guessing we'll see those on AliExpress soon, shortly. Maybe Roy maybe Roy Bella is gonna carry it first. This doesn't seem like one of the handhelds they'll carry. Um Roy Bella is mostly like the old POW kitties, um, Game MT, Trim UI, Me U. Yeah, they're big on game MT right now. Well, speaking of game MT and Royabella
The GameMT EX8 is up for sale. So this is one I also have on order. It'll be part of our AliExpress unboxings for this month, or maybe Yeah, it'll probably be early April episode, but uh this is a Android handheld again, four point eight eight. 4.88 inch 1080p screen. We got six gigabytes of RAM in this, 128 gig internal, and then an SD card option. So it varies from 164 bucks with no SD card.
All the way up to two fifty six. Although if we get it from the Royal Bella site directly, which is where I know it was announced today, it's a little bit cheaper in there, about a hundred and forty. And you can use code Royabella03 for$15 off. Excellent. That's Which totally is not a code um
specific to Rob and I who had to wait three months on our game MT. Why don't they give us a code that's worse than the code that we already know it? No, actually the zero three is the best. No, they give me zero five. Oh, they gave you a five they gave me a three. They don't like you. I also haven't actually refunded me. They just said they canceled my order.
Meanwhile, my refund is processing. Yeah. So the game MT EX8 here as well has a horizontal screen. Cool. The the D pad looks all right for a game MT, like looks like a new D pad from them.
¶ Andrew's Software Ketchup News
It it looks fairly normal. Yeah. Uh I mean it looks all right. The angularness of it is Might not be. I follow um Royabella on on X. Yeah. And they had like pictures of like the production line and all this stuff and I saw a gameplay footage. I'm like, this just looks so uncomfortable. Yeah, that's and that's probably the guy's palm like And they they just it just look the angles are like
Is there any ergo on the back? Is there what about the what about the back side of it? Oh, it's like we got a video here. I believe it's flat. Is it flat? Mm-hmm. I don't know. I don't know. So this might be tough. But n again, I like to see that Game MT is starting to change things up a bit from their usual designs. I'm also very um
I will say, you know, holding my breath here before because I mean game MT, at least with me, does not have the best track record. Every one of their devices I purchased is some something going on with it. Same. Yeah, so far same. Yeah. Hopefully so Hopefully this one comes out well because it's the same screen that I think they're using in the KTR two. Right, which I also have on order. For an unboxing. I ordered for about two hundred sixty dollars on AliExpress. Yep. Yep. Yep.
We will look at it. We're going to be able to do it. Thank you for your service. Hey man. KTR1. I always wanted to take another look at the original. I never got my replacement in though. And so I just I want to see the journey come to a some sort of some sort of end, some kind of closure. So we'll take a look at the second iteration here. KTR stands for keep the receipt. That's right, Matt. Oh no. I like taking a look at the Royabella link though, we have it in chat here. Mm-hmm.
Sony, let's take let's pull that up if you have it. As I also understand it, we have new transitions today. So Oh boy. Zero AI. That's all I know. Game MT EX eight, four point eight eight inch. G ninety nine handheld. That's right. That was the chip. G ninety nine. Yeah. That's that's part of the reason why I'm I have Absolutely no excitement for this. Well, Rob, it'll be it'll be great at uh it'll be great at playing Game Boy Advance. Yeah.
It it's hard to get excited'cause I mean, I remember like covering the Aldo Cube, right? That was a a tablet that had a helium G ninety nine and it was like a hundred bucks. I mean
¶ Game of the Week Updates
You know. Right. And that was a couple of years ago already. I'm I'm like, we're just milking out the G ninety nine like crazy. G ninety nine uh still problems, but uh handheld ain't one. I might have ordered the purple and white one. Of course you did. I got the purple too. So But the one time you got me a blunt packed to order a handheld together and you bail on me.
What we both ordered the E the E three. It cancelled on us. Didn't get it. Uh Though this time they aren't saying pre-sale, so this one should be shipping sooner. Yeah. I think I'm like only I'm like one of their like ten followers on X. And I'm one of the other ones. I'm the third. So I don't know, guys. I mean yeah, we'll see hands on. It does not look comfortable.
interested in that screen and and those buttons. So we'll see. We got that. Almost done with this. Let's see. Also right, the VMU multiplayer. That's one other last piece of news here is
¶ Ban's Boppin' Delivery Games
You can use a Dreamcast VMU and actually do multiplayer between devices, which is pretty interesting. Andrew, do you know any more about that one? No. I just thought it was cool. I don't know how it works because I don't have a VMU. Yeah, we'll have to I'll have to buy a VMU. I want to do VMUs go for because I want to try this project. They used to be really cheap. Really? But I mean that m might be different today.
Retro gaming as a whole has really kind of gone crazy. Oh man, can you imagine like actually doing this back in the day when you had a dreamcast? Can you imagine? Who does this one? Yeah. Ooh, yeah. Jordan's right for Pico 8. This would be cool. That's pretty cool. Okay, so you can get a VMU for as cheap as twenty-five dollars on eBay. Mm-hmm.
Yeah, Sega made a crap car of these back in the day. Yeah. There was massive overstock of this stuff. You can get a one new in box for forty five bucks right now. Yep. So this so they really haven't gone up much. That's good. It's green, band. It's green. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yes, I do it's green, I'm sure it is. Isn't it? Yeah, when I did my my SD uh card uh mod for my Dreamcast, I remember buying one and it was new box new inbox and it was like twenty five bucks, thirty bucks.
So I'm glad the prices haven't gone too crazy. Guardian. Dreamcast VMU failed where the PlayStation Pocket Station prevailed. I played with the Pocket Station when I was in Taiwan. It was the first time ever seeing one. There's actually pocket station emulation, I believe. This is nuts. This is gonna give the RG Nano a run for its money, Rob. Mm. I was never a fan of Archie Nano, so the best MP3 player handle. Oh man, I I don't know. I still have mine.
There's just something there's something about it. If for nothing else you can use it as a home defense weapon. So that's good. Why bad? I have far larger handhelds to use as a home defense. Because they wanna see it coming. They'll see like, oh, your hands are empty. They're gonna the bad guy's gonna get you and then do with that. How could you? Yeah. Yeah. And I could set up like a
system where it a bunch of RG nanos descend on on ropes and get you in the face when you walk in the door. We'll have to make sure it's, you know, not gonna get guests and loved ones, but Yeah. Hmm. Thank you. All right. Xbox. Are you Oh hey. Will one raw. Thank you for becoming a member. Topic of the night though, X One Box. So Xbox emulation we talked about recently is now a thing on Android. There's already been a number of uh updates since then.
And you know, watching Russ from Retro GameCore's video today, he really covers it well and kind of shows you what it can do on the RP six and on the Odin three. And it does play games, not all of them super well. There's no FPS counter yet, so you can't see that. And it's eight dollars in the Play Store, which Is interesting since it's not the official developer, although he does offer a free APK download on the GitHub now, which is good.
¶ Rob's Hardware: MacBook Neo
Stubbs doing the news better than I can. I was gonna say. I can do that. Bye Andrew. No. No, don't say bye to him. Yeah, don't say too lost. is who's doing this project and caught a lot of flack because at first people weren't able to get refunds.
when the you know wasn't wasn't running well on their device they wanted a refund so there's a Google Play Store error. Uh but I went in there today and saw he's replying to people saying, Hey, yeah, you can get a refund. Just email me, you know, his Gmail address and then he'll take care of that for you. Also, the official response from the team I saw from the actual Zimu team here is because this is a port of Zimu to Android, they're saying, you know. We didn't sanction this.
We could have worked collaboratively together on this project. They went out and did their thing, charging money for it. Uh, that's tough. And so there's A couple of GitHub. There's another GitHub that has a free version, but it's a little bit behind. Uh whereas this Izzy now yeah, does give you a free option, it looks like. So it looks like he did the right thing.
And also this all means that uh the official uh Zemo project also is going to be offering their own Android build in the future, which I'm really excited for. So maybe wait for that and don't spend the eight dollars. Having said that, I spent the eight dollars and I definitely have this now. Have you guys played with this yet though? I have not. I have not either. I've been working on uh something else Xbox related. Ooh. Yeah. Andrew, have you taken a look at this one yet?
Yeah, me me neither. I was about to do it before the show today and and then I again when I watched Russ's video I'm like, Okay, I might wait one or two more updates before I run this one because It's still very slow. Uh some games like uh Panzer Dragoon, it runs okay. Uh yeah, much of them though are pretty slow, even on an eight elite chipset not running full speed on the Odin three.
And we're seeing better performance on the Linux build, like on the Rockniks. Xbox is running faster on there. So stick with that for the moment until we get a little more further development along on this. Uh but really interesting this is happening. I mean this is we've been waiting years for Xbox and Android. I didn't think it was ever gonna happen at this point. I'm glad it's happening though. I really am. Yeah. I I think it's worth preserving this, especially on Android.
It's yeah. And so yeah, we are early days. But I can see in the future, you know, what, a year from now? Mm-hmm. I was gonna say if if development progresses th, you know, and actually continues to update. I mean, a year from now, yeah, we could be in a very different place. I mean, we've seen what happened with PC gaming, you know, on Android, so chat's killing me. Talking about home alone. Stop just trying to recreate home alone.
Your your mic was going wild there for a second. Yeah, I kind of knew you were doing that. When you were telling us this elaborate plan of yours, I'm like, is he just reenacting Home Alone scene by scene? Definitely.
¶ Rob's Hardware: Red Magic Tablet
Ha ha ha. Is the mic working now? Is that Mike is back to normal but is he though? I don't know. Is is Stubbs, we don't know. I don't know. So check out Russ's video, I'll link it below. Because yeah, he goes through and just covers what's possible now. I believe he's covering version one point one point three and now we're on version one point one point nine.
So there's been a couple iterations since then. So it looks like they're moving fast. Yeah. Yeah. If they're continuing moving that fast and they're actually making meaningful updates with each revision, yeah, this this could be in a really different place next year. Very exciting stuff. I think it's awesome. Also very exciting seeing that silver RP six reminds me that my silver RP six twelve gig, my first stick up top version I've used.
And it feels like you, sir, have a very rare handheld now. Just showed up randomly today in a just uh four. It's going to suddenly randomly disappear. No. I like it. I also have a s I have a silver twelve gig coming in as well this week. Yeah.'Cause that that color is just really nice. And I'm borrowing Mike's white Odin three. So my first time seeing the white Odin three as well. Let me get better lighting for you guys.
What do you think of the white could be? It's clean. I mean it's so clean looking. Very clean. You know, if I go OLED I'll I'll tend to go darker colors. I the purple is the one I'm gonna stick with in the end, but I really wanted to see this in person. So thanks Mike from Team Retro for letting me borrow. And yeah, here's a better look at the silver under a little better lighting. So I still like the D pad top version better out of the two, I would say still.
But joystick top definitely still feels good. This one I might use with a grip a bit more than the D-pad top.
¶ Viewer Mail: Daylight Savings, Xenia
All right. So that's that's what's going on. Let us know what your thoughts on Xbox below. Uh, is this an emulator you're gonna try out on your systems just to poke around and try it out? There are three different, you know, BIOS files you're gonna have to get going for this. It's not the easiest thing. You're gonna have to go and source those yourself and load them all up. But yeah. Now, all right. It is time for Andrew's Software case. Sound effects when we do these transitions.
squirting sound. Can we get like a like a Windows like ninety-eight intro where we get copyright strike for that or something? Yeah, something like that. You know, the one that went Windows chimes. We're surfing on the internet. That's that's okay. That's all we need. We just need a short jingle. Oh man. Andrew, sir. We do need clippy somewhere on here. We do. So I know there's a couple things you were gonna cover this week.
¶ Viewer Mail: Top Xbox Games
Um internet on that. We got the Dream Emulator, Melon DS, and Spruce OS. Take it away, sir. Yeah, I don't know much about the Dream Emulator. Um, that was just something that popped up last week. Um but what was the other one? It doesn't matter. Uh Spruce dropped four point oh version four point oh like last week or two weeks ago. Uh yesterday they dropped version version four point one.
And it's uh it says we're we're we're mostly focused all right now on fixing bugs from the four dot out of release, but they are having issues with the Mi U handheld. So the mini flip, the mini plus and the mini V one through four.
Sleep is broken on all three of'em. Um they're working on fixing it. Um, but uh for whatever reason they ran into some issues. The flip in the A thirty are fine, but this is also Um not this is also four um version four dot oh is was the first stable build of spruce for the Smart Pro S. Nice. Which is yeah, great to see. Uh you guys played you you guys got a little bit of a glimpse of that last week on one of the streams that we did on my red SmartPro S.
And also fun fact about that it the dev hit me up in the Discord and said that I didn't break anything. That the uh The um Dead Cells just doesn't work with spruce, those spruce based Um custom firmware yet? So I'm in the process of getting it installed on Mu OS at the moment. It's literally compiling on my three five XX SP. Well, I wanna hear your thoughts on that when it's when it's done, when it's ready.
Yep. And then yeah, so super exciting but spruce. Um it's nice to see they're they're not wasting any time. They're getting bug fixes worked out, even if That means that there's a little bit of regression for certain handhelds, but new ro new releases is always fun. Also Uh thank you for that. Also people who wanted to know about Dream. So Dream is a LucasArts emulator, which Mr. Sujano covered really well in his update. I believe it was from yesterday or the day before.
¶ Viewer Mail: Handheld Debates
And I know that it basically unlocks uh new Star Wars games and weird Star Wars games. So if you're ready for just like odds and ends for Star Wars, then yeah, you can try this out. And it's from the former MAME developer Aaron Giles, if you wanted to know. So go ahead and check that out. And there's a great video and it's up on our website. We got a whole article dedicated to that one. And the other one was Melon DS. Again, I saw Sujano covering this one too, so uh check out the first one.
Check out his video. We had an awesome interview with Sujano as well on Friday. Oh, that was so good. We had so much fun. It was ridiculous. Ridiculous. I'm I'm happy to say that everybody woke up the next morning, including Zoo. So everyone's okay. Oh my gosh. That was that was something. But it is definitely worth a watch. Yeah. Was very funny. Yeah. And then Sony Sony's your okay, here we go. Yeah, let's pull that back up. So the Mellon DS update is gonna be
They're talking about their future. So there's some fixes in the future of Melon DS and basically saying from the dev that uh mental health-wise, it's been a little difficult lately. kind of despite this, there's a good upward trend here and there's some fixes for freezes that happens and some other fixes. And N just a whole bunch of bug fixes it looks like. And as far as what's happening in the future, uh it looks like it's talking about code base, different ideas.
Oh, for a new flexible UI system, nice game list interface similar to Dolphin or PCS X2. That's cool. There's an OpenGL render. All right, so more to come. in this week's uh R H weekly. Okay. And we don't have zoo today because I know he's prepping for family vacation for spring break. Spring break. He's he's finally taking a break, which is kind of shocking. Uh but at the same time we also all know that he's
prepared a number of videos so you guys don't go without Zoo for too long. I guess that was good just in case he didn't actually wake up and we could m at least fake up for a little bit. That was such a crazy episode. I'm I don't know. We've just so many podcastings. But Uh one thing that we never get tired of is game of the month around here. And this week we have game of the week, which is Don Pachi, which is a
That's an awesome vertical schmup. You can play this on your like your one thirty-five or any of your vertical oriented handhelds. There we go. Heck yeah. Back from ninety-five. arcade game on the cave system. I think this is the one that you should play on your like uh magic X one thirty five or zero four
¶ Episode Wrap-up and Next Week
Mike and chat's a zero forty game. Yep. Perfect zero forty game. Definitely a good zero forty game. The zero forty has been my most played Nintendo DS handheld, even though I have the Thor in the Pocket T S. And and yes, chat's very helpful. Remember it's it's Donpachi, not do Donpache. They're different games. Donpache. Okay. Uh I'll be waiting for someone to try and submit the wrong game.'Cause there's there's many in the series, but yeah, so it's really important.
So check this out. Get yourself half a point. Get some sweet merch. It's also the last month for you to beat Breath of Fire three, which is our game of the quarter. Right now. So if you want to speed run that one, you know, it's a good what is it, forty two hours? You can probably beat it faster with the guide. It t time to turn on uh to be Resident Evil, which is like a ten hour game. If you turn on two X uh fast forward, this should go a lot quicker, don't worry.
I'm gonna worry band. I might worry a little bit. I'm pretty sure you're already worried on you. I'm a little bit worried. But what I'm not worried about is your band's bopping games. We got band. You ready for those? That image is some card I'm so glad'cause just'cause of how big of a racing game fan he is. Man, what what game recommends do you have for us? Yes. Alright. Okay. Well, I mean you could put on the Steam page for this. Um
So if you're looking for a couple of games that you might want to take a look at and you are into delivery, that's kind of what I've picked out for this week. The first of which is called Deadline Delivery. It's coming out in seven days. It is a game where you are playing as Carl the Monkey and you're driving a mail delivery van as fast as you can. If you if you do not deliver the mail in time on any of the 18 maps, you do explode.
Uh there is customization, up to eight player, multiplayer, and leaderboard so you can go as fast as possible and hopefully end up on top. The leaderboard specifically is something that I put a lot of time into on games like uh parking garage rally circuit. Oh, I love that game. So
This kind of has that same kind of leaderboard idea to it. I love the first person view. Oh man, that looks good. It is fast paced. It is ridiculous. It is a lot of drifting and if it's something that you might want to play on your own with friends like This is a really good option for that. Um if you're looking to deliver mail and you're not looking to do it nearly as fast, so you as the other gamer.
Yeah, if instead of FedEx you're looking for US Postal Service, the other game I was looking at for this week is called Easy Delivery Company. Uh I've seen it described as a cross between a res uh What did I say? Silent Hill, as well as the Animal Crossing characters. I love I I love the characters. They look like rejects from the Animal Crossing universe. I couldn't quite make it in that game. No, they weren't good enough for that one. Uh definitely sound revives though.
Oh yeah. In easy delivery company the main goal is to just get your items, whether it's tires, boxes, whatever, and deliver it across the scenic snow covered mountainside. Cities. Um I have put a little bit of time into easy delivery company, but I do need to put a lot more into it. Um it I believe recently they had put out an update which allows you to
I you saw it in this trailer specifically, but upgrade the tires as well as the front bumper. Uh you have to manage a lot of things, whether that's your fuel, whether that's your hunger level. I mean, if you get tired about it, that's another thing you kind of have to watch out for. I I love the character, the the the frown. And I guess Tech's like the it's like the opposite of Animal Crossing. Tech Tweeb recently recommended this too, I guess.
It's great. Yeah. I I've been kind of talking on and off about this one since it came out back in November. But it is a really good atmospheric game. It's not a long one. But I think it is replayable and I think that's why it's worth your time. It was super easy for me to just boot up on like the Odin two back when this game first came out. Uh
And so it's kind of one that I recommend. You one thing that I do note is that with this game specifically, they do not give you a map on screen. So you kind of have to check your pause menu like it is, like you're pulling out a map. Uh and the main reason was to make you learn the roads rather than just follow a point on the map everywhere you're supposed to go. Definitely gives me Death Stranding vibes just a little bit too.
Yeah, I I mean if you are looking to just deliver things, this is your this is your delivery simulator, which I'm sure everybody knows. I love those old PS twenty graphics, yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Um, it is not an expensive game either. Um it is currently twelve ninety nine on or you can get it with dredge. Yes, if you buy it with dredge, it's currently twenty sixty eight for both games.
Considering Dredge on its own at full price is twenty-five dollars. I actually featured that in my Android video. I also have it on Android because of the it has a native Android version for anyone who has an Android-based handheld. Yep. Yeah, great game. And easy delivery company is super easy to run over WinLader Game Hub, Game Native, whatever it is you want to set up. Yeah, verified.
Steam Deck verified. Yeah, i if if people are playing this on the Retroid Pocket 4 Pros, I would hope it's Steam Deck. Deadline delivery is not No, that one is currently not at the moment, but it also has a week before the game. I think often the demo versions of the games will show unknown compatibility anyway. So I wouldn't worry about that yet, right? So there you go. I'd wait to see what happens when the folder comes out.
But I do recommend everyone give the demo a try at least. Yeah. It looks like burnout a little bit too with the speed. Thank you, Sir Man. Burnout, but you have to deliver your mail. Well those are Yeah, that first person view is just wild to me. I love it. Those are some game recommends for you all as well. We have, you know, game of the month going on, so you get a point for each of these games, Donkey Kong from uh Game Boy.
Ico from PS2, Fire Emblem Awakening from 3DS. Those are still ongoing this month. So lots of games for everybody to play and enjoy. Good times all around. And speaking of good times, we have mister Rob the Retro Tech Daddy for Rob's Hardware Corner. Yes. That's right. I love the I love the new graphics and actually quite fitting because
Last week Apple had a big rollout of a whole bunch of new hardware and devices and one of the ones that I'm actually kind of interested in is their the cheapest MacBook they've ever uh released, which is the MacBook Neo. Crazy name. I don't know what what they were thinking with that one, but The MacBook Neil starts at five ninety nine for a brand new MacBook and that's or If you go to the Apple Education Store, it's four ninety nine.
So wow. Yeah, um you can um check out with your normal email and you can run the one in a hundred percent one in a hundred chance that they check. Yeah, so this one is it also interesting because it's powered by the A eighteen Pro, which is, you know, what you've seen in iPhones. And apparently everything that works in the in the ecosystem that, you know, works for M ones through M five
It will work with here here with the eight eighteen. So I'm really interested to see how the software will work and just everything in general. Um a lot of the big thing that people have been talking about is the eight gigs of RAM, which, you know, in twenty twenty six that's that's tough to uh swallow, but at the same time it's twenty twenty six and we know how RAM is nowadays and
Again, it's a m a new MacBook for five ninety nine. It's kind of crazy that every company's raising prices. And here we have Apple of all companies actually coming out with products that are cheaper. So it's it's an interesting take and probably will do really well for them, I think.
I think this is a really smart uh demographic they're gonna cover too, especially like college students, things like that. I'm thinking like the old iBooks, um the polycarbonate MacBook was a big one too back in the day. Yeah, I mean this this is crazy.
So I I think I read something about the uh the RAM limitation and it's by design because when they made that chip it's it's an iPhone chip running mac OS, which is wild enough. Um but uh It it was never meant to have more than eight gigabytes of RAM. Well And that's the thing. I I think we um we we're so used to Windows, right? Things like Windows where it's very RAM, you know, heavy in terms of resources.
Whereas it's gonna be a little bit different on Mac OS. It's uh actually much more streamlined, it makes better use of the RAM. So I think that eight gigs will actually be a surprisingly better experience than most are thinking, especially You know, for people who are just watching YouTube videos, you know, editing a document, things like that, this is gonna be huge for college students, I think. So
And just, you know, maybe you got your grandma that wants a a basic computer. I mean, this this is a great recommendation, I think, you know. Yeah, I think we talked about it when it came out. It's a Chromebook. Yeah, that's it's crazy. And I mean again, if you if you can get yourself that EDU pricing, four ninety nine. So it's kinda interesting. What what is also interesting with this one?
For a hundred dollars more, you do get double the internal storage. So it bumps you up from two hundred fifty six to five hundred twelve, and you also get touch ID, which I thought was kind of interesting that they locked it out to the more expensive model, but you know. Yeah, I I mean it it's exciting. I I I like seeing hardware that's affordable and something that people can get into. Yeah, with rising prices for everything else. Apple is
surprisingly dropping something that very well priced and you get that iPhone chip set in there. Yeah. And I love the colors. I love the I absolutely love the colors. I I'm a big fan of fun colors and just having fun with tech and instead of it being always the same old, same old stuff. Yeah. Everybody out there, are you is this one you're picking up? Are you interested in this? I'm debating it myself. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know if I have a use case.
For it? So Rob, did you get one? Possibly. Of course Of course, Rob, you had to have getten it because we gotta see what the emulation situation is on here. Well I heard that you could run switching. And I saw someone mention in chat about the M one that they're still using it from twenty twenty. So it has eight gigs of RAM and running really well.
From what I've heard, this will bench a little bit better than M1. So again, it'd be interesting to see. I mean yeah, I'm I'm kinda I'm really excited for this. I I like I like this approach to hardware and affordability as well. I I did see one comment about how with Apple releasing a new eight gigabyte laptop this year, they're kind of locking themselves into making sure that their systems work on eight gigs of RAM for
Who knows how long. Yeah, I think I think that's gonna be a thing across the board. I I'm pretty sure um, you know, Google's gonna probably be considering doing the same thing with with uh Android and just in general in their environment. And maybe Microsoft will get a clue and start to force a little more optimization here. I don't believe that, but we'll see. Yep. Yeah, it's it's it's interesting to see how um we will be handling the whole Ram situation this year.
Speaking of RAM though, how much RAM is in that new Astra tablet I heard you're going to talk about? Well we don't we don't have specs on that. Mm-hmm. But red magic. You know, they saw Lenovo was cooking some new tablets and they said, you know what? Hold up, we got one and they had a teaser image and that's really all that we've gotten. Whoa. So this is the the five tablet uh pro.
Which is the Chinese version. Um, it most likely will have some name for a go you know, global market. I don't know what it's gonna be yet. But they're teasing it. It's gonna probably be the A delite Gen five. Um yeah. So look for another Red Magic tablet coming soon. It I think it's gonna be more like the Astra, so a smaller. Interesting. So
New Astra. I'm excited for this one too. And it and it turns your arm and your hand metallic, which is cool. Like it makes you bionic man. Yeah. Uh I like that uh Red Magic has stepped into the space. I wish Lenovo took them a little bit more seriously as competition because I mean we we we've seen uh
what uh Lenovo was doing and their prices are just absolutely wild. So it will be interesting to see what Red Magic does in terms of pricing. I just got an Astra from Team Retro. We did a trade for that. I was gonna say good timing on that because you can't buy'em anywhere. They pretty much discontinued it very quietly. Yeah. I So I'm on the periphery of this whole tablet.
you know, hobby uh for emulation and all that. I see you guys doing it all the time. You you do telescopics and so I'm like, all right, let me explore the space a little bit. Uh so yeah I I went ahead and did that trade and it looks awesome so far. I'm gonna try it uh This Thursday, everybody, is gonna be our telescopic episode uh for unboxings. We're gonna look at uh the Backbone Pro Xbox version. That'll be fun. And
I got some interesting telescopics we can take a look at. Let's take a look, yeah, at the interesting ones you have, and then GameSource sent over their MFI version of the G eight. Galileo and so we'll try that with the iPad mini, see if that works out okay, or an iPhone, whatever we can fit in there, and then yeah, the Astra uh with the other. So that'll be cool. Let's let's see what we can do with these things. Green protagonists, thanks for your super chat. Late to the party. What did I miss?
Not not too much. What mobile SOC do we need for full speed OG Xbox? Or is it way too early to tell? Well, again, from Russ's video it looked like at least an eight gen two would be recommended. to at least start getting those games. That is the that is the like hard requirement from from the developer. Yeah. So Snapdragon H Gen Two, so your Odin's your new Retroid
Yeah. Probably some INEOs. I mean that company that we don't mention. We'll be I'm noticing a lot of people popping in right now chat. I'm pretty sure um that the time zones didn't help with that. Right. People are like, oh Yeah. It's an hour early for many, I'm sure. Yep. Yep. It's one of those weeks. Yeah. Yeah. Like for me, I I'm starting an hour earlier because we moved to the Pacific time. I'm sorry about that, Rob.
So s I'm so very sorry. What am I gonna do with you? I was in the middle of earthing. What? That that is such a phrase. And now we got viewer mail. We'll have fun sound effects for these next week. Matt Davis, what are your opinions about Daylight Savings Time? Yeah, I got an opinion on this. Stupid. Why? Why? We doing this still. We still doing this. California said that that they were gonna change it and if they change it, Oregon, we said we'll change it too.
So maybe That's'cause they just copy whatever California does. Well Well, they should do it. I don't well they should do it. Because I'm so very tired and at least twenty percent dumber today. And you know how many car accidents y the ratio goes up when they do these switches? People are t extra tired and Everyone was a zombie at work and I'm still one, so that's enough. Time. Leave time alone. It goes by fast enough. Right.
Jen six four nine. Hey guys. I really enjoyed your pod with Mr. Su Jano the other day. I never laughed so hard. Thanks for that. At one point there were two mister Sujanos on screen. There was That was amazing. We cloned him somehow. Anyways, now that the Zimu port is out, I'm not sure if you've covered Axe 360E. It's the Xbox 360 Android emulator port of Xenia. Oh.
Well we gotta talk about this. Not today, but soon. It seems to actually boot and run some games. Could be worth a try. Yeah, I'd love to look at that. I know that as well there's a uh iOS version. of a Xenia emulator coming. So Well we'll talk about three sixty maybe next week. Yeah, I actually um have done a lot of work with that, so expect something soonish from me with that. State. I'll be doing a lot of testing with it. Stay tuned on uh Rob the Retro Sexy Dad's channel.
For coverage of the latest. And the greatest Xboxing. Thank you. Bookcase. Top three Xbox games you want to check out on Android now that it's sort of working. Yeah, I Russ was showing one that looked really good. It was from Software's game. It was like Or or or Rigo or Tego, oh god, what was it? Myth Demon Myth? Ortega? Hold on. Or did you say Ortega? Or are you talking about Otogi? Or Togi? Yes. Yeah, the from software game. There's two of them.
Yeah, I saw that on uh a website that is shutting down at the end of this month. And okay, Otogi Myth of Demons is a two thousand two action role playing game developed by From Software. So that's one that looked really good that I wanna play. It looked easier than Dark Souls, so I'm a fan already. What was that sound? Who made that sound? Was that you? Look. It's from software. What the Okay.
It's Stubbs that's the sound that I make when Stubbs lies to himself. Crims Crimson uh Crimson Skies and Jade Crimson Sky's a good choice. Jade Cocoon? No, that's not on there. Jade Empire. Jade Empire. That's the RPG. Bioware. What about you guys? Favorite Xbox games? What's Andrew's face doing? He's trying to remember what Xbox is in so long. It's a box they made in the early two thousands.
We just want to play full speed. Combat evolved. Let's go. Hell yeah. Last time I played that was Like that's the to be able to play that on Android is I know it's really dumb and there are a lot of other fantastic games for the original Xbox, but that's my That was my first like Before I got into FPS, Halo was my love.
I mean like combat like I mean like Call of Duty FPS games, like multiplayer. Those old land sessions were yeah, you could hook up Xboxes together and play Halo at a friend's house. Did a lot of that back. So much fun. You know, you get in the Warthog and Everybody uh you have like two or three buddies like lugging over their big ass C R Ts. Yes like their C R T T Vs. I remember doing that in college. Yeah. We actually just left the the C R Ts in my like my college um apartment and
We play Gears of War and stuff like that. Oh, Gears of War. Yeah. Oh yeah, Gears. Gears is another one that I want to play, but I haven't even tried playing Gears yet, because I know that it's That's really stupid. I I brought it up and shouldn't have because it's three sixty. I thought it was I thought it was the I thought it was the back end of I thought it was right before I switched out to earlier. Rob, I bet we're gonna get your game recommends in your upcoming videos, aren't we?
I mean you don't want to spoil'em now. I'm not doing Xbox. Especially because Russ did a great one. I'm not gonna even bother with it. Check out some recommends there. Well what are your th what are your your three? For Xbox? Um Panzer Dragoon Orta. Okay. Yeah. Uh Jetson Radio Future. I'm trying to think what else do I like? Well it reminds me. Maybe the Otogi games like you mentioned it would be definitely up there. Uh, Project Gotham Race. I mean, like there's so many good games. Tony Hawks.
That's the one I forgot to mention was the P was PGR. There's actually a lot of really good games on Xbox. Tony Hawk two. And not counting like a lot of the multi platform releases were technically better on Xbox too. So good. Back in the true console war days, you know. Mm-hmm. Let's bring it back. None of this like fake console war stuff. Ridiculous. But great question. Yeah, it's a good question.
Alistair Stewart nine nine seven five. Liking the new format. I think once I receive my Thor Max that I ordered on February second, it'll be the last handheld I buy for a while. Keep up the great work with the channel. Uh thank you, Alistair. Yeah, what uh what color Thor Max did you get? I need to know. Also, I'm jealous. I didn't go for the Thor Max. I said the pro's good enough for me, and then RAM craziness happened. I said I should have gotten that max.
Hmm. Good thinking. We should have all listened to Andrew and got on the opening. Andrew was telling us all along. He knew. He knew. All along. Are you a psychic, Andrew? You're the most powerful man I know. So except if you actually had killed Zoo, then he would have become the most powerful man. So I'm glad that didn't happen. Officially, I'm sorry, Zoo, for saying that. What a horrible thing. But luckily, Zoo woke up.
I prayed for him to wake up and he did. If he wouldn't have, I would have felt real bad. Gios all things considered, regarding the RP six, does this make a case for the RPG two? Been on the fence long enough for this question To matter now. Hmm. Regarding the RP, uh does the make a case for the RPG too? I mean'cause it's cheaper. Yeah. Is what I'm assuming they're saying. Like it'cause it spreads the gap in the line in the retro line up a little bit.
It's solid. I kind of I mean it's still their pricing is still kind of weird. Retroid needs to kind of adjust some things there. They're not going to tell the next gen. Yeah, I don't know. But that's the thing too, like What do you guys think is gonna happen? Do you think we're gonna see an olden three portal, olden three mini? You know, are we gonna start to see some of those pinnacle? Yeah. Not this year.
Or we'll see the super like cheap one. Like the you'll only have like a basin pro. There won't be a max, there won't be an ultra. Twelve gigabyte twelve gigabytes like max, like at the most. Not even LPDD or five X, probably just four X.
Yeah, because I know for I know I'm sure they look at it and say, Well, yeah, we can do an open three portal, but who's gonna buy it at this price, right? That that's the problem. And I think that they're gonna see themselves coming into the issue quite a bit this year. I'd say RP si I'd say go RP six. I think it's worth the extra money. If I had to choose between the two RP six over the G two for sure.
Yeah, I mean it's the same screen, right? I mean it's it's very close. The performance isn't too huge of a gap, but man, no. The Ergo I I like a lot more on the RP six, just the feel of it, the quiet buttons. It's just a little more premium feeling overall.
Um I'm a I'm a big fan of that one. The face buttons are a huge improvement. Huge improvement over the five and G two shell. I mean it it's nine. It really is. Yeah. But the G two is solid on its own, right? Like there's nothing I can really dock about G two. It's just There was Yeah, I mean I wish there was like a little bit of a price difference, just small, small enough to make it better. Yeah, then it'd be a different story.
Great question though. Green protagonist. Thanks for your super chat. It makes me wonder what Snapdragon would handle this Master Chief collection on game native. Adelite? No, I can actually I could try that. So uh the thing is I feel like the chips we currently have could handle it. It's just again, it's just a lack of uh, you know, maturity in terms of the translation layers and things like that. I I feel like
It can get to that point though. I mean, look at what we're doing with the eight sixty five. I mean, eight gen two. I mean, how old are these chips? The fact that that chip will not die And it can still run stuff kills me. That's the crazy part. I'm like I'm yeah running a lot on there. I didn't realize like how like truly optimized that shit was. And that thing is what, six, seven years old now?
Probably older than Bann at this point. Don't lie. That was Ban's first uh tablet. That it was powered by uh eight sixty five. No, my first tablet my first tablet was an iPod uh an iPad. Did it have like a big four case, like game game native? GameNative 8.0 or 0.8.0 came out this last week. Oh yeah. Nice.
There's a lot. I uh the the amount of changes in every release for Game Native is like enough for an article by itself. Just like just the post the game ch the the Yeah, I was wondering about dropping game native updates today. We should drop that on you rather than than dream, I think. But is there is there any
I mean I didn't know about any of those. I would have been lost regarding. No, I like I'm enjoying the new format, so pressure pressure's on, guys. Co-host to co-host with the host. The most. Game native is one that I need to try some more. I've been doing a lot of game hub. Wonder if I can get um Galo Five running on here on on my Odin three. Yeah, it seems like the eight elite can really handle a lot.
But all right everybody, let's go ahead and get out of here. We're that's right, we're doing a little shorter episodes on Mondays now. It's kinda it's it takes a minute to get used to.
