to our channel members here to kind of see, okay, what are your thoughts about this new Thursday unboxing stuff? Do you think it improves the Monday show, having it be now cut down to around an hour ish? splitting off these unboxings to Thursday, or do you prefer how it was before and kind of it's too much content hitting your feed now and it's hard to keep up. Uh we'd love to hear from you all. Just leave a comment, you know, uh below.

And kind of let us know your thoughts on that. Because we're still like, we could go either way on this, but we did get some comments saying, hey, we're not engaged anymore with you guys because you're splitting the show up. Uh, it's tough to keep up. And then others were like, you know, forty six percent were saying, No, no, we like it, it's better. And then the remaining say, Hey. I'm cool with whatever you guys want to do. Y y you do your thing. So I'd love to hear from you all.

When the PS four We're so old that we can actually count with Playstations now. I educa I educated and then I quizzed him. I said, What are the generations of PlayStation? And he said one, two, three, four, five. Now I don't recommend counting with the Xbox because we went from Xbox to Xbox three sixty to Xbox One to just Xbox series, so don't count with your Xbox. But not SES sexy. That's for after Dark Thursdays.

Emu Lunk is making dual screen handhelds finally uh make sense, meaning that they're tailoring a UI environment for dual screen. It's using a bunch of a bunch of uh hackery and and and scripts and nerdy stuff to uh really make the most of this dual screen handheld craze uh showing the ay and thor here. Andrew, how how does this work? What what is this?

I don't know. Jim wrote it. So I installed it, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly exactly how to get it working. Um it looks like it requires and of course my pocket DS is dead. Surprising. So... Sony, scroll down a little bit. Stand by time on INU handheld.

My conquer pocket fit was charged to zero percent and it's been trickle charging all day now to get it back to life. I'm like, come on, I and Eo. All right, so what it does is right there. Stop right there, please. Thank you, sir. Emo Lunk. Reorders H renders HTML, CSS and JS themes on the secondary screen. So you can do things they say like a Wind Waker C chart. You tap on instead of pausing or Pokemon Emerald Layout with party status and bag info always visible.

I guess under the hood though it's running that Kotlin Android shell, uses JSON over UDP for communication and feeds that into a web view that skins everything per game. It started as a dolphin only experiment, uh but now I guess it talks to PSP. PPS is PP information.

Okay. Magic X2 Dream Light and Pro. We got the core specs revealed. What are they? The judges say these specs are uh thusly. Stated as the light side of things, we're looking at four point five inch. Screen fourteen forty by ten eighty resolution, Helio G ninety nine for that SOC. I do doing it again. You you fans of the INEO pocket uh micro.

We're we're bringing back that G ninety nine again. It's Rob's favorite handheld ship. Man, I mean it works. Can we just Remember the K T R one? What did it do? It worked. It runs games. Does it? What more it you know that's what I'm saying. And what do you want from me right now? What do you want from that from this chipset? Oh wait, it's Rob's who who's complaining about it. I mean, I know what I want, the pro, not like Yeah. Well to finish up the light specs, three gigabytes of RAM, thirty two gigabytes of internal memory, three gigabytes of RAM in this economy, it's at least a thousand dollars right there. 1448 1080p. Uh SOC is gonna be Dimensity 7300. So that's looking nice. That's looking real good, Rob. Yeah. I see why you want it. Four gigs of RAM. Well I I got mostly one because it has a little more RAM, but also the internal storage too. I mean thirty two gigabytes is rough. It is rough to deal with on Android. You get double the internal storage. So that is cool. And you said get the same hall effects sticks and triggers.

Mm-hmm. I do want to point out that I believe the 7300 that you're seeing in the Magic X2 Pro. is the same chip as what we're seeing in the K T R two. Right. Which I have that on order. We'll look at that one. So we'll we'll So once again I'm once again though, I do wonder then, are we gonna have two handhelds with the same chip but one is just way cheaper than the other again. I don't I mean, okay, so Magic X, they've been cooking on this stuff.

I I like I like the way it looks. I mean it's Yeah. You know, that green is awesome. The purple and green are just great. And the pro, that's I love those bright rainbow colored buttons. Give me the pro. I so I kind of prefer the uh the black buttons on the transparent ones over the matching buttons, but that's just kind of

Couple of handhelds lately. The Lenovo's The allies, now they're enabling this for everybody on Windows 11. Every mini PC, every handheld. It's coming in April. Ben, why why have you done this? Well it wasn't me. I don't like Windows on handheld. What's the story here? I believe they're bringing it to desktops now. Uh select desktops and laptops and whatnot. So if you are keen on the Xbox experience, uh you you can get it on more devices.

It is uh the only thing that this says to me is that it's uh Microsoft scrambling because the to try and beat Steam Deck or Steambox in the market. Yeah. This this is basically a response to machine. Yeah, Steam Machine. Uh like you don't a as of April, if as long as the Steam Machine doesn't come out before then, um, you won't need you could just enable this on a mini PC, toss it in or a laptop or something and toss it in your living room and be done.

The thing is I'm I'm thinking about it and I'm like They're gonna have to tweak it a little bit for the desktop or laptop experience as well, you know. So hope hopefully they're gonna make some tweaks. Yeah. So you pair you pair your controller. Uh y you have that same UI experience, it boots into it. The UI is not great to begin with. It's closing background processes, which is nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I mean I wish they would just fully commit to an actual Xbox. You mean a whole operating system? No. Yeah. I mean that would be ideal. They do. It's called an Xbox, but no one used Xbox. I have that in the in the living room upstairs. It does exist, but I don't know about it some days. Neither does my kind of forgot about that one. But they're making a new console. What the hell are we doing? Like what's Microsoft thinking in this? So I got distracted because Nintendo just dropped firmware 22, which enables s handheld mode boost for the Switch 2, and I don't know what that means. Which is what caught me off guard about why I got distracted. Maybe maybe they're incorporating DLSS five. Aren't they only the one console? Well I'm trying to I'm trying to figure out what I'm saying. It's just when it's not docked?

I don't I I I don't know. I'm trying to figure it out. The funny thing is in handheld mode, that thing you you can tell it's not using the full potential because the fans are never running. And it never gets really that hot. So it tells me that they left some, you know, overhead there in terms of just the future. Oh.

When enabled, this option causes the performance of Nintendo Switch software while undocked to run as if it were being played in T V mode. While this can result in improved visuals, it may also increase the system's power consumption. So they're doing what Xbox and Sony Dead with their consoles now. Where you can choose between yeah frame rate or or visuals. Sounds like it's just performance when in handheld mode. Like it's boosting performance in handheld mode.

Okay, so it says the new update someone chat said new update gives you the ability to run switch one in docked mode on switch two handheld mode. But yeah, what about the battery life though? That's one that's a good point.

Oh okay, yeah, but that's not the nobody cares about that. Yeah, I I will say that Switch two battery life is not great. I'm constantly charging mine. It's Well that's because you keep playing it. Ah, automatic super resolutions. This is cool. So auto SR is this feature that's gonna let you set the resolution super low and then it's gonna upscale it a bunch using the AI. Chip inside of the Xbox Ally X's Z2E because it's a Z2E AI variant on that chip. I found out because I was like, Oh, I'm gonna do this on my Legion Go 2. No, the Legion Go 2 doesn't have that version of the Z2E, so this will only work. on the the AI Z two E machines, which I guess right now is only the Xbox Ally X.

Which I often forget that the the Ally X and not in the Legion the Legion Go two does not have that same chip. Correct. Yep. Super weird. Yeah, so they have the Z two E AI. I never once thought about that. So they they technically have the best chip out of all the Z two E models or the Z two you know lineup. Yeah, I wish I had a th I wish I uh uh I wish I had a Legion go too just to bench them like against each other. Yeah, I know that

It was a bummer to see that because not only does the Legion Go two have not have this NPU inside of it, but it also has a higher screen resolution. So Like it has two things working against it here. Oh that's right. And but it does have OLED. So at what point do you not care about OLED and having a bigger screen versus the freaking beast that everyone's gonna be having coming April for their Xbox Alex? That was a good purchase for people who invested in that.

I still want a Lego too. I miss my I miss I miss having the Lego. Yeah, by the way, I've noticed that prices have gone up across the board for every single handheld in the X eighty six space. It's so so dumb. No, no, no. No, there's one there there's one that has not. Which one? It's the regular ally. The regular Xbox Ally. It's five fifty still on sale. Almost always has open box, it seems like. Yeah, I I'd like to say it's the new just get a Steam Deck, bro.

Stuck with me over like a lot of other things have happened. Like today RP RPCS3 announced that they you can add Steam shortcuts directly from their music into Steam, which is incredible. Yeah. But like this this stuck with me because it's like People complain about emulators not getting updated enough or features not being added or features are broken. And then a a a trusted and reliable developer that everybody has known, not everybody personally knows them, but we know of them for years.

says that they're using AI and they don't get that kind of it's a it's a different kind of um reaction. We know that they can code. But yet it's a problem that they're using AI to help speed up the process of releasing a bug fix or it looks like they're just using it for bug fixes right now, but I don't know if they're gonna plan you know, I and I don't I don't know what kind of discussion it warrants overall, but like the the back and forth

is just it's so tiring and annoying. And like the community just we need to be better. I know that's a lot of rambling, it doesn't make sense, but like Yeah, but I think it's interesting to get it.

a developer's perspective that has worked on an emulator, you know, one that we know very well in the community for many years and see what he's able to do with it. And I think that's really interesting that it's actually being used as a tool to help him fix issues with the emulator. Yeah. I mean I programmed my pyramid game in like two days. But you're not a developer. You toggle with that fault.

Well, this is definitely something we've seen a lot with just developers in our community. And I I think I it's awful to say this, but I feel like just staying in the shadows almost is the better approach, which it sucks because I mean, I would love to be able to interact with these developers and talk to them, but it it's just for whatever reason, you know, people attack developers for doing certain things and it's just this is not the first time we've seen something like this in the community.

W every time we go live, these handhelds I place manually because they all live in sealed plastic bins because of dust.

Yeah, I know. I gotta reconstruct. And then you forget what you have. Every time. Sometimes I forget to put handhelds out. People are like, oh, you got rid of all your handhelds. Like, no, they're in the sealed cases now where they should be. Zoo uh actually has a cool Mandalorian shirt on there, and this friend uh Bob up front there, who unfortunately did not make it. Okay, so Game of the Week is roller games this week. It's on NES. It's a Konami game. I don't know if has anyone ever heard of this? Uh I guess first one up on the list for games that are kind of interesting and worth talking about is Demon Tides, which is the third game in a series made by the publisher Fabraz.

Um it's this time it's a three D speed based open world platformer in the ocean. Um Up pair I haven't had too much time to play with it, but apparently you can travel from map to map, like purely in the open world. Uh, there's a lot of movement, graffiti, like if you you're watching the screen, there's a lot of ways to get around the map. Um and personally to me, I think the art style is really cool.

Um, but the other reason why I think this is kind of an interesting one to bring up is this publisher is also working on another game that's coming out this year. Uh some of you might have heard of it. It's called Bubsy forties. Okay. Wow. Stop is very excited. So I Love Bubsy. Sorry. Sorry, guys. I got excited. Sorry. No, you're fine. But I won't I really want to point out that they've this comp this publisher has partnered with Atari.

to produce the next like Bubsy game coming out later this year. Um, yeah, there it is. It's a very similar art style to Demon Tides and Uh so with how high of ratings Demon Tites has gotten so far, it makes me a little bit more confident about Uh, this game coming out in May. Dude, Bubsy3D was the best game on the PlayStation 1 sampler disc. Okay.

Here it is. Here's Bubsy three D. It's the most You have much fonder memories of Bubsy 3 awkward platformer ever. A horrible game. I just it's so colorful and and f yeah I thought it was fun as a child. And this looks better. And I'm not even a child anymore. I I think this will actually be pretty cool. Yeah. Um Yeah, Abs E forty, which I think is coming out in the middle of May, is more of a linear based three uh three D platformer, but

It is one that I'm interested in. I know they've given Bubsy a brand new voice for that game, so If you're interested in seeing my how how that one might handle, you could probably get around in demon tides just a little bit. Stop seeing three D. I don't like that. I don't like that. That's my that's my chair. When do you get the upgrade to forty then? That's a good question. Uh other game that I'd like to bring up is a it's also the third game in its series.

Uh Tori Saturn, um, which is another speed-based 3D platformer. Um if you've heard of Tori 3D or Tori Two, it's alongside the similar vibe of a nineties style three D platformer.

Where you're trying to collect all the stars, trying to get through your levels as quick as possible. Though this time they're taking more of a radical 90s styling with it, hence the Saturn name in the title. Uh This is one that I do know is already in our Steam family library and these tour games are never too long, but they're also never expensive games and I think they're worth kind of having.

If you're someone who likes trying out games on like uh Android systems through like WinLader or Game Hub or Gay uh Game Native. Uh this is definitely one of those ones that just kind of boots up. Oh, I didn't realize they had the trilogy in there as well. Cause I think the first two games are like one to two dollars each. I was gonna say that trilogy bundle is a good price. Yeah, I think that's the same price as just buying the third one.

So if you're looking for a oh yeah,$4.99, you you're saving money by buying all three at once. So if you're kind of looking for a short suite but also pretty fast 3D platformer, this is kind of one that's worth looking at. Yeah, I like the I like the art style on this one. Looks fun. Yeah, they they've definitely updated it since the first uh since the first two games. Still got that same vibe. They've just kinda I don't know how to say made it more late nineties.

I like when they try to purposely make these old graphic styles. I love that. I love that kind of aesthetic. Parking garage simulator or whatever, parking garage. Parking garage rally circuit. Or um if you're looking for like just as a side note, other games that are in the similar old style. Um, old school rally is another good one. Um Definitely takes part of like the old Colin McCrae rally one and two games. Colin McCray as well. Ooh. This one is also in the Steam Family Library.

But like look at look at that. Wow. Ooh, that's rally. Oh. Some people have mentioned that this one is a little bit easy. I need this one. This is the one for me. Yeah, I was gonna say this is one that stuff Charlie can do well at Oh god it looks like Need for Speed 3 graphics. Fantastic. Can you can you really have a rally game without the Subaru or the Audi? I like the jingle. Yeah. Oh yeah. It's it it finally happened. After twelve years, the Xbox One has been hacked. And yeah, this is kind of crazy in the community. It's just kind of unbelievable. Um so this is actually a really cool uh clip here from uh Marcus uh Gastellan. He's uh the one who did this whole like uh I guess presentation about how they did this.

And basically, yeah, I mean, they managed to get into the Xbox One and now we have they have full access. You could theoretically run any kind of code you want on there now. Yeah, there's his there's his workbench is really cool. So they all this time, all these years, they've never been able to hack an Xbox One. Correct. Yeah. So twelve year twelve years. So the The funny thing is the Xbox One is actually pretty well known for being

almost like an iron wall where you cannot penetrate it essentially. And yeah, I mean it's incredible the type of security that was implemented into the Xbox One and They they finally cracked it, you know, and it uses a voltage glitch, I believe. They're they're they're using some type of voltage and and and doing like a glitch causing it to it's kinda like the Xbox three sixty, but a little bit more sophisticated because

The Xbox three sixty would actually give you where like where he's showing on this slide postcodes. So you knew the entry points. Whereas on the Xbox One, you didn't have that. So he had to go in on a different method to actually figure out where he could break the code. Yeah, it's it's really cool. I mean, this presentation's worth watching. It's only about an hour long, but

It it's just fascinating to see the methods that they did here. And so basically this hack only works on the fat one. So the VCR model Xbox One. So the original launch model from 2013. There was some like revisions. Wow. So there's a twenty fourteen model that you know, he says it could probably be adapted to it, so there's a good chance that it will work on somewhat some of the newer VCR models. And then there's the Xbox One S and One X and those

He never tested it on it, but he says that it most likely can be implemented on there as well. So basically the Xbox One family is essentially crap. In terms of Xbox Series and Xbox Series X, he hasn't even tried. He's probably not going to. He's no interest in doing it.

And then yeah, he he kinda goes in and talks about, you know, a MOC, very possible. He's not gonna be one that's gonna be putting it out. He has no interest in doing it. He just wanted to do it because it's kind of a rite of passage to be able to hack a console basically. But what's interesting is saying that he can get the method down where you can basically crack the system in a second.

And to and that's crazy to get it streamlined to the point where you can basically run unsigned code in in a in a second. That's really fast. So it's pretty cool. I'm pretty sure that the community is probably gonna end up doing something further with this. I mean, I think it's exciting, but

You know, I I think a lot of people also feel like, well, who cares, right? It's Xbox One. Everything on Xbox One is on PC, but it you know, it's about preservation and he talks about it being for preservation as well. I mean, and that's kinda like the whole concept and goal with a lot of these type of projects, you know. So cool. So freaking cool. Yeah. Yeah. Twelve years. Undefeated for twelve years. That's very impressive. Whereas you look on the PlayStation side or on the Nintendo side.

You know, I mean Switch had uh it was ha running hacked stuff, what, a a year? A nine year? Yeah. Yeah, it's crazy. So it took'em this long, but they they finally did it. So congrats, guys. I mean, yes. Yeah, it's cool. We'll see we'll see if this this leads to anything, but it's it's pretty cool. I thought it was kind of an interesting thing, kind of big news around

you know, the hardware world and s essentially. So I had no idea that they had never hacked an Xbox One. I just assumed all this time, like of course they hacked an Xbox One. Xbox three sixty had the hack, you know, the RGH was the the big one, the reset glitch hack and

The funny thing is the method has actually gotten better now. So it's so much easier to do it nowadays. So like I hope that this will end up leading to a point where you can do it a lot faster and a lot easier. But you know, this is just the kind of the beginning. But basically they have access to the entire system. So you know, it's very exciting in that sense. Man. Okay. All right. That's wild. That's uh emulation is magic.

Yeah, it's cool. That's cool. I I mean I I wish I could do those kind of things. That's amazing that they're even able to do it and and the way he was showing how he did it with different voltages and and it's just like that's amazing to me. I'm like how they even are able to figure out what's happening with the system on that level. It's just the new Whopper? Uh just side tangent.

I have not had Burger King in a very, very long time. I usually stick to this. Ooh, oh you you're uh you got an in and out down there? Okay. All right. That's usually what I stick to. So Chewy was the first ones to get caught with apparently branding and selling laptops with a seventy forty thirty U. And it turned out that it was actually just a fifty five hundred U and so There was one laptop and then um Notebook Check actually did some of the research and they ordered a different laptop that had the same spec.

And it turns out a different laptop also had the same thing where it was a 70, 40, 30 U and it ended up being a 5500 U. So it was more than just one model affected that they're you know they're kind of lying about what you're doing. Company's lying? But no, no. And I have a feeling this is gonna become much more commonplace this year because

Chewy is not the only one. Blackview, um another Chinese tech brand, was caught with a tablet of their own lying about the type of RAM and the amount of of storage that it had and They did this before. So a Jap Japanese outlet, yep, the Japanese outlet got a la tablet, they did the research, and they found out that, you know, what's on the box and what's even in the system in terms of the software is not exactly what's being in the hardware.

And even after the whole virtual RAM nonsense, it wasn't adding up. And yeah, they they found out that also they were lying about how much RAM and uh memory not memory or storage is in there. So Yeah, it's um I have a feeling this is not gonna be the last time we hear about this, but you know, just pay attention. You know, if you're buying hardware from some of these brands, you may not be getting what you're expecting. So

Yeah. It's kinda wild. And after we had an unboxing for the the Blackview tablet and we found that, you know, virtual RAM situation. Never again. They reached out recently. Well, and this is even worse than that because they were saying it has uh if you scroll back up, Sony, they I think it said what was it, twenty

Let's see. Um twenty four gigs of RAM. And so with the RAM swap, it should mean that it has six gigs of actual physical RAM and eighteen gigs of swap. The thing is it doesn't actually have six gigs of uh physical RAM, it's like four gigs or whatever. So

Yeah, so it's not even just the whole stupid virtual RAM thing where they make it seem like it has more RAM, but it's like it doesn't even have the physical RAM either. So it's just it's just bad. They reached out yesterday, like, do you guys want to see the new tablet of Blackview? And I was like, nope. Absolutely not. Nope. Nope. Before even seeing this, I was just like, I remember last time

You guys do that virtual RAM thing. We're not we're not looking at that. And then we just unboxed that Chewy laptop that said it had a seventy four thirty U a couple of weeks ago on this show. But the the worst part and and Chewy, like the thing is like we and I and I was I was saying it, I know a couple of other people were saying it too. Look, Chewy was a solid brand. They were reputable. I trusted them and now

I'm gonna have to think twice about what they're actually selling me and so it definitely hurts their reputation and it's a shame. I mean you know, they were always a good value brand and I'm like, Well why not just be honest and disclose it? You know? It's just uh But yeah, I mean I I have a feeling that people might start steering away from some of these brands because of this, you know. Well...

What's the difference between a fifty five hundred U and a seventy four thirty U ultimately? Is it just a a generation two generations behind and it's similar performance? I I think b uh maybe Ban can correct me. I believe um isn't the seventy forty three U just a rebrand? Is it just a rebadge of the fifty five hundred U? It's when AMD switched over their naming. Oh he's muted. Band you muted, hold on, man. Oh.

Yeah, I believe that's what it is. I believe the the similar it it was supposed to be the slightly higher clocked fifty five sixty U, but they're so close in like performance regardless that it really could have been either. Okay. So maybe with the Chewy situation, they're getting a little bit more of a pass versus the Blackview situation, Rob? What would you say?

you know, lied here, but is if it's such close performance, obviously they need to make a whole statement and they need to properly label, you know, what it is, but If people are getting about what they're paying for, maybe they should just do a price drop and then let everyone know, yeah, okay, it's a fifty five hundred U price drop. Oh, our bad, whatever. Uh'cause they're their brand

Their brand has been pretty solid in general, I feel like, over the years. This was a big screw up and they need to own it right now. Get ahead of this and say, are we s we messed up, you know? Yeah. Yeah, th I mean this was good work by Notebook Check actually. They they did a full full research on this. They actually went out and bought a complete second uh you know, a second unit and it had the same problem. So That's yeah, I mean

It's crazy. That's okay. Yeah. And if this I mean, it's you know, this will blow up. This will definitely blow up in the tech community, and I think people are gonna start to steer away from a brand like Chewy. That's right, Netflix for an owner. I probably screwed up plenty. Let's see what is this.

So the question is what do you so what is worse? Is it worse where you have the chip that Is not what you're getting, but performance is, you know, similar ish, or just flat out lying about the amount of storage and RAM you're getting. So who who is the worst offender here? Is it Chewy or is it Blackview? I mean they're both bad. Minix PC. It it's crazy to me. I'm just like, yeah.

Are we gonna have are we gonna have to start tearing down everything and really checking everything? Personally, I would say Blackview though, because at the very least the fifty five hundred U and the seventy four thirty U are supposed to perform at a similar level.

But just telling someone you have a completely different amount of storage or RAM is just lying entirely about what even with the virtual RAM thing to be advertising, you know, twenty four gigs of RAM, even if you did get the six gigs of actual RAM, is insane. 'Cause people aren't gonna general consumers are not gonna look much deeper than that, I feel like, and like, Oh, this one's got twenty four gigs of RAM, but I can get an iPad, you know, and it only has

you know, twenty gigs or whatever, I'll get the I'll get the black view. And the funny thing is I've noticed that Some brands actually stopped doing that. The whole virtual ram claims they have actually stopped doing that. So the fact that Blackview is even doing it is like uh it's a little bit of a red flag to me. I'm like it's just

You're you're taking advantage of the consumer. They don't necessarily understand what they're looking at and they see a big number and they're like, Oh, yes, bigger is better, you know. And look what happens what happens with Blackview. So Yeah, I mean I hope that we don't find other brands doing this. That that's gonna be the interesting thing. Well and then Dead Fred saying, you know, Magic X led the way. Remember what they XU XU mini M?

And that debacle it ended up I can't remember the original chip. Oh, it led to the best sticker in RH. It was supposed to be what was this it was supposed to be like a thirty five. Right, which is the great chip. And then it's like, oops, sorry, another RK thirty three twenty six. Oh no. And it still was a gr wasn't was a nice handheld, but you lose that trust and it was on their second device that they lost everyone's trust. Yeah.

And to be fair, the first handheld they released, it was supposed to be a thirty three twenty six S and it was just thirty. And S is like a one percent. boost to the GPU side or something. I mean it did lead to our beautiful poem from Magic X, which was words cannot express how I feel right now. I went to bed hoping it would be sunny tomorrow. Amen. Good. And I went to bed hoping that Zoo would wake up the next day, so
