MiniLoong Pocket 1: A Surprisingly Solid Budget MODULAR Handheld

And Mr. Rob the Rush or Tech Father. We will be showing our mini longs. Oh no. Yes. Some time. We've deemed this time block uh for this use case.

Correct. Now ridiculous naming aside, this handheld is rocking an RK thirty five sixty six, your old friend from my favorite RK thirty-five sixty-six. We're gonna have to dethrone my favorite GKD bubble. Will it happen? Hmm? Maybe we'll take a look at uh even uh what that'cause this uh oh yeah, that's right. It's a uh forty XXA.

Because both of these came from AliExpress as part of our AliExpress uh review situation. So I picked out these two for uh the end of March here. And because I'm really curious on this, it's a modular handheld. And it has swappable face plates, swappable D pad. And is it any good? I ha this will be my first time really digging in. I I I took it out of the box momentarily to make sure it functioned. But other than that, this little I'm I'm going naked here. So So it's a legitimate unboxing then.

It's a it's like a ninety five percent legitimate unboxing. This one's sealed though. So yeah, we'll allow that one. Uh we but yeah, we'll compare it against similar handhelds, everybody. We wanna see like is it good? Is it worth about ninety dollars USD on AliExpress or on Amazon about a hundred bucks right now? We'll take a look. Uh live chat, how you doing out there? How we doing? Two thousand twenty six never been a better time for another RK thirty five sixty six. One thousand percent We look up when that chip came out. I'm just gonna look at it right now. Is it twenty twenty two maybe? Like when we started seeing it in handheld. I feel like I'm not sure. Is it twenty one? Yeah. It was released twenty twenty. Yeah. Yeah.

Popularized by the third generation of Amber Nican Health. So you're talking about the you know, the What What Three series. Oh, you're probably talking about twenty thousand twenty two, early twenty two at that point. First handheld that used the RK thirty five sixty six. from at least Anbrunick was the RG503 and that uh Russ's like review of that is from like early twenty twenty two. So it's been in the handheld space at least four years now, which is crazy.

And thirty three twenty six is even longer. But they've never done swappable face plates. And D Pack. Yeah, we'll we'll talk about the modularity in a bit. Andrew, what do you think about the D-pad? Does he have the right keyboard? He has the right keyboard. He's got a good keyboard there. It's a pretty good board. I like his shirt. He's getting a different board out. Yeah. Hell yeah. My Riz was trying to run away this week, but it listened to Bee Gees all day and it's totally back.

Yeah, you're risless on the thumbnail. It's concerning. Yeah, they removed Ace removed about sixty percent of my Riz, but But I'm I'm I've I pushed the beard out just today. Here we go. What do we got in here anyways? 3566. We got that uh that Molly G5. Two GPU, we got one gigabyte of RAM. Now, one gigabyte of RAM in 2026 is really, really tough. We know to get a second gigabyte in here, they would have had to have charged us another hundred dollars though. So We're gonna work with this. 8 gigabytes of EMMC storage, 4-inch IPS 960 by 720 display, 450 nits. Wi Fi? Well. I hear it's all right. 4.2 Bluetooth. We got oh oh oh we got introduction of long OS.

We got 4000 million hour battery, 7.5 watt charging, blah blah blah, 258 grams.

Bucks. I gotta give them credit for a new company. You know, that's impressive. This is um I think we saw this as an amp on, I think, thing that they put in. We've we've seen this in other amp on handles. I don't know if that's from any longer. Mm-hmm. I got the same card of mine too. So I got it from the Ampone shop on AliExpress, that's right. And There's a cable. Any uh screen protectors? What's the inside of the cable? What what what color we got? We guess rocking some purple?

Good good old USB C cable. Gots to have it. Let's take it out of the That retro. Power, right? So is this magnetic? It comes up pretty easily. There's little magnets in there, you see. How do they work? How do they work? Let's see. Can we drop it in straight? Oops. There it is. Okay. So you take that off. We've seen this game with the one X sugar, it's gonna end up in the spider's nest and you know it.

It it probably will be in a sp I cleaned up the spiders recently for springtime, but I'm gonna grow out some new spiders maybe by winter. Yeah. At least, let's check the D-pad. No, that pops right off. Much easier than the Mang Me than the Ming Me uh Max. Yeah, that just pops right off. Very easy. But they didn't include in the box, they didn't include the other D pad. So where do we get this other D pad that that they're talking about? Does the stick come out? Yeah. It does.

Did anyone else not get the second D pad? Yeah, where where is it? Uh I've seen a couple of reviews. Nobody seems to have gotten another D pad. I have reason to believe that all of the things they're showing you are you buy them separate. All right, so we're talking about it. Hmm. Where do we find this? That's the thing is no one's found that either. Ben's mom's house. These are uh Oh, is she making them for us? Height sticks. Yeah, it's it the modularity is kind of interesting because Mm.

Mm modular on it. Well I mean there's modular parts, you just don't have the module. Correct. There we go. the face buttons are not modular at all. They don't they don't swap or they don't nothing nothing changes with them. It's not the colorway we asked for, but it is the colorway we deserve.

I mean it looks very much like and maybe on purpose, like the uh retro power Mm-hmm. Colour it. I really like the way it looks. Really similar. Yeah. Green is what pulls it out on them any long. Well Minilong put figured out how to do transparent buttons before Ambernet could for the Vita. Amazing. Yeah, can I yeah, I wanna comment on that too. The those face buttons are pretty choice. They're really nice. I really like the face buttons, yeah. I like'em a lot.

Yeah, so far, I mean initial impress oppression impressions, not oppressions. Maybe it'll be like. No, ac actually the the the operating system on this is You guys like? Yeah, I think. Quite good. Yeah. Out of the- Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty solid. Mini long pocket one. We got Gray looks so similar to the uh the Ineo. Right? Is this not? Back. No, look on the back, the the font color. Yeah. Yeah but this one has my name and this one doesn't. So that's really close.

Somebody pointed out somewhere, I think it was either in the mini long thread or it was just like in one of the chats. Um the buttons, like the font on the buttons is very similar to the manual. me. Oh. Well let me pull a Ming Me out. I don't think we have it yet, but I cannot wait to find the story behind this main lawn company because they um Yeah, the font is like almost the same. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. I I mean I don't d don't I don't know.

But the module the modularity, uh the idea of the the the swappable the swappable D pad that you can't that doesn't come with it, you need to buy separate, same idea there. And also, yeah, I mean it feels very high quality right straight out the gate. Like it feels strangely like that doesn't make any sense to me because I was totally thinking this is gonna be on the high end of e waste pretty much. Like that's what I'm going in expecting. One gigabyte of RAM, you know, it it's a gimmick.

But I mean in the hands it is very solid. I don't care for this this faceplate. Now there's other color faceplates that you should be able to buy in time, I guess, that are different in producer stone if we can pull that up for people. But there's other Hear me out with the faceplate. If they do it, that's your chance to put stickers on it guilt-free. True. Very true. You know what? I like that. Yeah,'cause like look at that. They have limited edition like Ordering that green one for sure.

Yeah, if it was real. Right. Hey, I wonder if they'll release like a like a model for like or may I'm sure someone in the community will make a 3D print that we can do. That one is. You not not totally positive? I have seen like mixed again, it just r I I browsed the um the mini log channel on the Discord before I jumped uh earlier tonight. Oh, and it just doesn't seem like the

Like I like this handheld a lot so far. Um, but uh it doesn't seem there's much that it's much on the same feeling in the community so far. And I might be wrong. I don't have my pulse on it like that that much. I've seen some people go completely ecstatic over this thing. They're asking every week, you know, w when when are we gonna be reviewing this? When are we gonna be looking at this? And so I felt like

Alright, listen, we're gonna do it this week. We're gonna get to this. Um because clearly people want to see this and see if it's good. Uh but then yeah, but then the majority I'm not seeing too much Anything. I think it's just it's so new. No one knows the brand yet. What is the brand? There's no brand listed. Mini Long, I guess, is the brand. It is. Yeah.

It seems like a really good executed one of those, but with the INEO like pocket air, it kind of takes in the momentum out of this. My hope is that this is a budget high screen resolution four inch. Right. Whereas traditionally you'll get the six forty by four eighty is like let's get the game upped a little bit even in the budget like anyway. It is pretty noticeable too, I will say that uh 960x720 display, you can see the sharpness. It looks a lot nicer.

If this doesn't have ghosting the way that the uh pocket air mini does, it might actually have an advantage over that even if the specs are lower. Yeah, that's definitely a weakness on the uh Pocket Air Minis. The display is is just okay. It's not great. And some people have backlight bleeding worse than others, so Well, Something else playing in not in its f in its favor is the fact that the price keeps fluctuating so much.

So like two days ago when I up the last time I updated the listing on the handheld dot deals, it was sixty six eighty seven after the d after Coupon. See that makes sense. That from the right side makes a lot more sense. Yeah. Yeah. That's what a thirty five sixty six should be costing, ideally. On Amazon and like through dropshippers like Ampound and and whoever else, I think everybody's got it now. Lit NXT has one, has it, MEC DIY. I think everybody's got it.

Yeah. Like the hundred dollar price point makes sense there. Um, but it doesn't make sense that this is eighty something dollars on almost ninety dollars on um on AliExpress. There are listings that are a like there's a listing that's thirty eight dollars, but I'm not trying to donate forty dollars to somebody.

Well if we're comparing hard specs, you know, between this and the cause these are seriously so similar. They ha this had to be have been made to compete with the with the Acnes Pocket Air Mini here. I mean had to have been. So

Do uh Sony do we have uh do we have uh we have a comparison that Mr. Benny here from uh the right by the way, check out Michael Benny's uh YouTube channel. Yeah, with the bucket or mini being its direct competitor, it would just make sense to go spec for spec. And I think that it's um It's almost the same size, I mean just man, it's so similar. What's right display, you know?

That's where the Meg Mi comparison becomes very interesting because if Meng Mi is an offshoot of INEO and this is very, very similar to the Pocket Air Mini, like is there, you know is there some knowledge that was transferred? Right. Yeah, it seems like it seems advanced so far for what it is. And we'll take a deeper look here. I'm just trying to I'm trying to find that uh that screenshot you made earlier. That thing was awesome. Let's see. While we're waiting though, I do have a story. Um

Something unfortunate happened with almost made me miss the show. My wife was mad at me. So she asked well she asked me for um some chapstick. I handed her a glue stick. She's still not speaking to me. Oh. Oh No You're a dad. Bye. That's it. Get him out of here. Alright, here we And speaking of specs, here we go. Um so the mini long pocket one, you know, release early twenty twenty-six. We got late twenty twenty-five for the Pocket Air Mini. We have Linux.

Which is the custom long OS, which is pretty cool they put that on here. Plus hello? I don't know what that is. We're gonna see uh versus Android 11 on the Air Mini. Of course, you can get you know gamma OS on there as well. Display is a 4.4 inch on the mini long. We got a 4.2 on the Air Mini. Both of these are IPS. We got 1280 by 960 on the Air Mini, 960x720 on the pocket, and 4x3 on each at 60 Hz.

And you are comparing a 3566 versus a Helio G ninety T band. What uh what about is the difference between those two chipsets? I know that the six the G ninety T is gonna beat the thirty-five sixty six, right? Yeah, it's gonna beat the uh thirty five sixty six pretty soundly, I would say. Yeah, there's there's definitely a performance advantage for the uh air. Yeah.

You get the Dreamcast catalogue, you get the PSP catalog. Whereas with the we know thirty five sixty six it's you get some, but you know, don't even try Ghost of Sparta. Yeah, that might be where it caps out.

And I I will give'em credit, at least I noticed like the games that are preloaded for PSP, they're all like the the lighter titles. So they they definitely are aware that, you know, it's not gonna be running that kind of game. So at least they're not curating the library to have those games on there when it's like, Why is it here? Right. Ye which is fair, and on the GPU side, we're looking at the MOLI G52 on the the minilong versus the MOLI G76.

on the air mini, so that's gonna win there as well. Ram is looking at that's the tough part. One gigabyte on the on the mini long. I I don't know why they they they went with the one gig on there, but we're looking at two gigs to start on the Air Mini, which most of the builds people are going to be buying is going to be the three gig.

Uh all of the free units that you might have gotten from INEA would have been the would have been the two gig. So storage-wise, we're looking at thirty-two gig internal on the air mini, eight gigabyte on the mini long, and uh four thousand milliamp bar batter on the mini long versus forty five hundred on the air mini.

And then both of them, you got Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2 on the mini long, 5.0 on their mini. You got one haul stick on the mini, which is really for a handheld this size, one stick should be all you need anyways with stacked shoulders and they're quiet, which I appreciate. Uh, compared to the dual hall sticks you're gonna get on your Air Mini, so you're gonna be able to do Ape Escape and all those other games that might that might need or you might want a second stick for.

As well, yeah, you get uh touch now is there touch screen on here, Rob? I think is there not? I don't think there's touch screen. No, I don't think so. mini long, but you do get on the air mini of course, and they're about the same weight, 258 grams versus 269 on the air mini respectively. And uh video out no on the air mini, but actually yes on the mini long USB-C display port out. Which is cool.

So you're gonna get PS, you're gonna get up to PS2 gaming, GameCube and Wii on the Air Mini, and only up to PSP and some light dreamcast there on the Pocket One. And about yeah, but they're around the similar price point, so it really does make it tough.

And I do want to see more discounts and around that$70 price point for the for the mini long. I think that's going to be where we're at. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, the pri price is a little too high right now. To me, showing that it can go down to sixty seven dollars, like with coupons, means that you will see that price eventually.

And the fact that it's been that price, I say hold. If you're really interested, just hold. It's I don't think you know I'm sure it's gonna come down price pretty soon. It kind of feels like a um a trimuye smart situation where it started really high with like the random occasional sale down, but over time the price on that just dropped to something a lot more reasonable. And that's. So this community really started to adopt it.

Yes, sirs. Alright, let's let's do a little uh button sound test here. So this this is another very quiet device overall. Like listen to this. That's nothing. D-pad. Quiet shoulders? Both of them quiet. That is so nice to see that. Oh my goodness. It's exceptionally well made. Wow. It's actually really nicely put together. Yeah, look at this. There's no issues with that.

I was telling the guys before the before we went on the show, I'm like, I think it might be my favorite device with this chipset. Wow, yeah. Nice pivot on that D plate really nice pivot on that dish style. And yeah, the face buttons as well. You know, what's nice is that with the faceplate, you can have it be short.

You know, like that. Or you can have the face buttons be a little longer if you want more of that feeling. Tactile wise. And they're gonna be a little louder when they're longer like that. Mini or long. Mini or long. You can have your face buttons mini or long. Yes. But it's still it's still quiet and it you can kind of have it how you want it, like Burger King. Um okay, these they're still pretty quiet for the start and selects, and then you have your mini long Button.

You have very nice backing on these grips. If you're out the texture on the back, that's a good thing. The texture, this plastic feels like the same plastic on the Pocket Air Mini. It's very close feeling. Very high quality. Plastic. I just can't get over how similar these are. So this one you're gonna get on the Pocket Air Mini, you're gonna be getting a full analog depression where it's looks like more of a digital style here on the mini long. So that's a difference there.

So similar. Jeez guys. Okay. I actually prefer the D-pad on the mini long. I would say over the pocket or mini. Yeah, I agree with that too. You know the pocket air mini, very quiet face buttons, but they're not They're a little short with their travel there and It's almost suspiciously similar.

Very suspiciously similar. And this, like I said, you can make it mini or long. Okay, so then dimensions-wise, what are what are we looking at? They're so close. Wow. Even their greens are like super similar. What the hell? Heck. I can't okay, let's bring in some other comparisons. Thank you. have a retroid um do you have the pocket mini by any chance? Because if not I have one to compare. Someone was asking about it. I got a pocket mini from you, Rob. I'm I saw have one soon. Yeah.

I have my Saturn one that I can compare again, so You know not that you can get the the Ret Retroid Pocket two S anymore, but here it is if you wanted to see it. But I love that color. So good. I don't know how blurry that is, but God, I need that pocket, Doc. You gotta get the duck, Andrew. There's a Saturn Mini next to the mini l mini long. Yeah, they're they're really close in size. Super Similar. Let's buzz on the mini long, but we know that the mini has more power.

Oh yeah. It's not even a competition there, yeah. I like the white colorway too for it. Does uh I don't think Retroid's selling um the Pocket Mini anymore, right? It's been it's been discontinued, yeah. Yeah, discontinued. Really haven't pulled that out too much anymore. Yeah. He cost Mr. Retroyd one of his houses. That's what I mean. I think they want to move on and forget no more mortgage screen for us. Mortgage screen, where is it at?

And and it happens to be at the end of the day, you know, that is a really good device. It's great. It's an amazing device. There's a reason why I have the one I kept. I mean I'm I I can't part with it. I like it too much. Yeah, it's good. Oh, and then you're the game MT EX eight there as well. Which is the new Pow Kitty, right? Three different shades of white.

Yeah, you could see Yeah. Um this is probably I think the most powerful one on like the table, but I mean even then Uh it's wider definitely, but Yeah. Silver and I would like to know why do you have a cyber truck? It's very cyber trucky. And the Gamma Squeeze. The Gamma Squeeze is saying uh Rip Hell Galley. Gamma man, are you I I we caught Gamma, uh, was watching him on the Save State podcast before this one tonight.

Uh, answered a bunch of questions like the five five seven development and and it was a really good show. But um man, are you thinking about uh you mini longing it? You is that could that be on the roadmap if enough interest shows up or

It's gotta be able to run Linux. For him to go under the hood and see what's going on there. Maybe it's Need two gigabytes of RAM to do it effective. Uh that's true. It's crazy how That's true. Again, another very close, really close. There is so many RK thirty five sixty six devices. way more than we have the time to compare today. But that's crazy how many how many of there are.

If you can find a uh retroid pocket mini here for around a hundred fifty dollars or so, uh definitely would recommend this over. Uh you get that OLED screen, you get the Snapdragon eight six five. Beautiful. Gamus says he's he's done with the RK thirty five sixty six. I don't blame him. Very fair. Where's the arc stubs? I didn't keep my arc in the end actually because so Yeah over time.

As we start to talk about a chipset less and less on the channel, I generally will only keep the ones I really love from that chipset. And the RG Arc was not one of them for me, actually. Again, the GKD bubble is my flagship 3566 device. Uh and it happens to be the only GKD that I really that I really fell in love with in this way. Russ did a video on this and it was really I don't know, inspired me to kind of get back into this into especially Genesis because just this as a replica device.

Like You can do the the other colorways, but for me, honestly, I just I cannot stop thinking about the black D. The black D is always on my mind. Right, yeah. Yeah. Bear feels the same way. Not quite. It is amazing. That's not what you told me before the stream. Um I wanna apologize to everybody. I did not realize the implication of my words. Um You mean it's something I don't believe. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your white D. We've never Yeah.

We've never said anything that might possibly imply something untoward on this podcast before. Yeah. This is a surprise and a shock to many right now. Uh But there's the other four inches. We're gonna end the stream now. It's about been good. These other four inch sort of a device which I sort of have as a thirty five sixty six base up comparison.

Yeah, see I always had I had the um the Saturn looking uh RG arc and it just always drove me crazy'cause I think it's just much better suited for uh Genesis. Thanks everybody for watching. Mm. The Magic X one hundred thirty five. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. And again more power there.

Yeah,'cause this is the G eighty five versus the thirty five sixty six, and these two are almost identical in prices right now. Right, yeah. I love I love the one hundred thirty five. I actually uh just got mine back. So it'll be here soon, but very fair point to compare these two. You get a little smaller screen of course on the one hundred thirty five, but you know, playing PS two on there fantastic. Yeah, but you can't hold your mini long like this. You can't hold your mini long long ways.

Well you could. It's just not gonna be very good. Well I mean this isn't very good either, but Alien, alien. Oh, that's fair. But you get two D pads What do you feel about the uh the glossy shell feel with the buttons, band? I honestly I don't mind it, but you've gotta remember I've looked at like the Mamba one, the like Ambernik controller and all that jazz. So I've used controllers with the same type of glossy feel. Mm-hmm.

And it doesn't really give me much issue, but if you're someone who has issue with this texture, one thing that you do have to watch out for is over time, if you've got sweaty palms. No well. Yeah. You won't get spaghetti on here, but you will get some cheese. Forming in the edges. Don't love it. Don't want to think about it. Not schmutz, and cheese. Well I mean... Good that answers the question, Monto, right? We got uh ice cream buds. Are these devices the same size as oh we talked about that?

Very good. Spaghetti palms. Speaking of spaghetti palms, uh we got uh let's see who's spaghetti palming. We got uh Uh Rob Rob's next. Oh here we go. Oh that's a good comparison too. There's another one thirty five. Yeah. I figured might as well bring it out. Might as well call this the Retro Power Mini Long. It's definitely smaller, you know. Yeah what you got the same analog stick action going on here. Well everyone's using those uh retroid style ones, the ginfold.

I actually like that this is it's a little bit higher on here, which I actually prefer. Yeah. Yeah. It is flush here so it makes this a little bit more pocketable, but Yeah. Well that's a good point. Is it pocketable? Yeah, you do have that protrusion. That the shoulder button. Let me check that. Yeah. Yeah. I got the khakis today. Thank you. Oh and they are are actually showing it in a pair. We'll see about this. Clearly not photoshopped at all in there.

Yeah, it's not catching. Well no it does catch on the way down. You gotta you gotta put your hand in your pocket. You gotta stretch your pocket, drop it in. Drop it in. It's concerning, but not impossible. Walk around the house with it, but I wouldn't take that thing on a hike.

Wouldn't be hiking with it. I am impressed though for the pocketability, like four four inch screen, they kept the bezel on that very thin. And that was one of my favorite things about the um the forty XXV. It was just the thin bezels make it feel like more premium.

I don't remember what the the other one I was thinking was the 40XXH. And I don't remember what the bezels are on this. It's actually been a while since I've had one of these. And so I wanted to pick one up to compare here. And so I got the g purple scissors back. It is r less threatening than a pocket knife. I was never a fan of that one. I don't know I don't know why. It never resonated with me.

People have been talking about this lately, though, think uh lately though, you know, talking about uh how it's just a great four-inch handheld. And I'm like, okay, maybe, maybe it is time now with custom firmware further along to take another look. Uh this is of course on the part of the AliExpress sale. You can get the US shipping option and this was I think fifty-five dollars, maybe sixty dollars is a pretty good price. Uh so check that out in the description as well. That ends March 30th.

I hope you didn't get the blue one again,'cause we know how hot that got in your hands last night. So I was I had PTSD from that, and so I went ahead and got the DMG, which Ban is probably upset right now with me about, but I Yeah, I've got to do that. I've gotten over the dislike of DMG since we haven't I haven't had to use one in a while. Good because

Here's another option. So this has the H seven hundred chipset. What's nice about this chipset, well it's not the fastest on the block. It has so many custom firmware options that It's just a lot of fun that you can swap your SD card between all the, you know, the 40XX, the XX lineup uh of those H700 devices. And let's see, do we get games on here? We get a card. Yes. So you know and this one too, squishy rubber membrane D pad, really nice what Ambernik does with their D pads, always feels good.

Loud. Both of them, man. All four of them. And that's why on here so much quieter and nicer. You know they do great with their face buttons. Like that feels good. The sticks are always solid. Uh you don't get uh that that um no. The forty XXV had that cardinal snapping, but did the H? It did as well. Okay. Not good. This is back during the like Switch style stick era that Ambernik was still going through. Right.

I hate the menu. The sound. I w that's the first thing I go in here and I always I always turn these off button sounds. Okay, so but it's still good in the hands, but you know what I wish? I wish they actually did have like the RG cube XX had.

The little bit of that ergo bump on the back. I'm missing that when I really appreciate having just a little bit there, just a little bit to kind of grab onto. It I have not had any any hinge issues with my black one. And so at thirty seven dollars it's like that might be worth taking the leap. Like and ignore the the hinge like concerns. So Yeah, you can you can get these cheap enough and I think they're worth it. It's just a matter of making sure you grab the right color. Yeah, this is the best one. No, it's not. They're very, very similar, but you are gonna get put yourself over the edge on some of those Dreamcast PSP and N sixty four games. Like Goldeneye will work better on RKA3566 versus an H700, but you're still not getting perfect dark on. Absolutely not. Unless it's that portmaster port.

I am being continually impressed with some of how the D comps are coming to Port Mastery really nicely. Do you see um what was it Bomberman sixty four? Like yesterday or two days ago? So you either get like the simplified menu that they make or you can get the retro arc menu. Yeah, I'd rather have the full thing. But it's nice. I also like that they give you the preview, like what it looks like. So you actually know instead of like having to like pick one and then go look at it and then go. I agree with that.

Key test joystick. Yeah, that is nice too. I mean If you're recommending this as a gift for somebody, that built-in firmware is actually really important because you may not always be able to go set it up for them. I do wish they oh tightened up a little bit the uh the library. The curation is a little bit sloppy. Real nice. Okay, we're gonna turn that off. If we're g if we're talking about gifting it to somebody, that's not like that big of a deal. No, I know. I know.

But in some cases I'm just not physically available like oh I order this so I'm gonna go send it across the country like You can change the text and the colors and And change the uh the lighting as well. Oh. I don't I don't think Stubbs has a computer that like isn't dying actively. Just bought one in the summer. Oh that one works great. I love that desk. It's my game because it's my gaming desktop. It lives uh in the office next to the router. It's hard it's cabled in there. Okay. So I can stream with it. So I can be in here doing testing and stuff and I'm I'm the power is happening on that computer and it's streaming.

To the situations, by the way, you know, you could stream on these things and Right. Time to get a really long HDMI cable stuff. Not a mini long. No, no, I might I might use that one. But uh I've been testing this Minix mini PC, which we unboxed on this very podcast some months back, and long term testing I love the 155H chipset. It's so so good in my MSI claw. Why is it so bad in a mini PC?

It can't handle it. When the when there's too many ongoings happening at once on the computer, it freaks out. It has 32 gigabytes of RAM. 32 gigabytes. You probably got something running that shouldn't be running. It's probably Trojan the Trojan in there or something. It died. It died. Some it has like a it has a um what do you call it? A uh Mature. Yeah. It's cool. Hellware. I have to Or spyware, I don't know. Yeah.

It's mining for Bitcoin or something in the background. I don't know what it and the fans get so loud, it's like a military helicopter. It's it's incredible. loud it gets. I just watched a military movie last night. I hear helicopters all the time. They're going beside. I saw Project Hail Mary for the second time. I don't know what that is or why peop or why people keep talking about it. It's so good dude. It's it's literally a dude stuck in space, just him and a space spider. No, it's us.

It's it's a rock. Yeah. It's not a football movie? No. It's the Dwayne the Rock Johnson. It's him. Oh, he's stuck like that. It's just them and their love story in space. Pretty much a man in a Pokemon. Rock type. Yeah. Oh my god. So good. It's really good. Yeah. It's in a I saw it in IMAX yesterday. It was awesome. Yeah. Can I just tell you that concessions, wow, that they're talking max. Oh you're gonna watch Project Hail Mary on the Pocket Max? Mang me. Oh okay.

Project Magni on the pocketmack? Yeah, you better mang me mang me do it. But uh

That white does look nice. I agree. Pretty mid. I like the retro one just because it blatantly blatantly rips off the pocket air mini. Did you see that part when we were talking about this earlier?'Cause this is this is ridiculous. what are we doing yeah I I so I saw it very quickly now seeing it again.

I guess you can maybe make an argument for the glossy on the mini long, but beyond that oh wait you can re- We move. You don't need it. Remove it. Then you get then you get longer face buttons. Okay, that's why. Weird. Does feel a little different that way. But you can put other color uh face plates on there. When they release them and they look rad as hell rad Fordra as hell. Or you can paint the inside of the translucent one or put stickers or whatever. Stickers.

I'll say it's giving me a Xbox three sixty vibes. Remember you could like replace the face plates on those and Exactly. But to take off though. They should have had Magmas back in the three sixty era would have been better So realistically, if someone has to buy the mini long or the pocketair mini, which one would you go for? The Pocket Air Mini. But the screen on the mini lawn is so nice. The Ming Me Mini Long, one gigabyte of RAM is what is what stops me from preventing Pretty easy.

Wait no, it stops me from recommending. I was gonna say what are you preventing here? Wait to see where it was gonna go with that. I lost I r I had a seizure like my minix. mini PC. And uh now I'd have to say that uh yeah I like the screen better on the mini long, but I The performance.

And everything is better on the on the pocket or mini. If you're talking about spending$90 on the mini long. If you're talking about spending$60 to$70 on the mini long, I I just go with this. This again, just the buttons and the screen and the feel is all really nice. It doesn't overheat. Uh it it does get warm, but not as warm as the 40X XH. And Yeah. I I I need to play with it more but yeah. I think mine just actually froze.

Uh oh. See that's that one gigabyte of RAM is gonna be a problem sometimes. What Sega used to say, the more you play with it, the harder it gets. Yeah, but they also came with the term blast processing. Probably where it came from. Ask Blessing. Dude! You know you know what's coming. Yeah. Thank you. Not me. What Oh god. What does that say glory hole? Glory. No, that's someone someone actually made that. Now crab lock. Oh yeah, that's right.

I know what what do you play as the child for video games? Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis, but penhelds that happened basically when I was able to buy one myself. Uh uh. So that means you have a whole set of uh a library of games to try for the first time. Yeah, that's pretty cool.

I mean to be fair, I've played a bunch like on emulation over the years. Right, fair but Well like there's still a lot that I haven't played. Like I played the Mega Mans, I've played uh the Final Fantasy Legends, I think they were called on the Game Boy. Yeah. Well I played those Super Metroid off tours like there's some classics, but yeah, I still have a lot that I could explore. There's a lot that I want to explore on this handheld.

Where I'm just barely scratching the surface. So what's what's the limits of what we can do here? Have you guys found the limits? Have you found like systems that are like eh starting to hit the cap? I mean PSP for sure. PSP, okay. Yeah. But I mean I I I wouldn't play PSP on this just'cause the aspect ratio's wrong, but But what uh like N sixty four, how are we looking on N sixty four? Hard to play in six four games, you're not gonna get cruising games, you're not gonna get Perfect Arc.

Not gonna get Red Dead Redemption to Oh oh oh Clef, what you Oh, you got your RP six with a freaking dual screen on there? Yes. That's such a nice looking setup. Looks like the clear grip, the RP five sizing uh dual screen, and And I just have this uh cable I was mentioning last time that's perfectly centered. Yeah. Cleph, was you tell me about Wii U? Like this might actually be the ideal Wii U device. Yeah, I agree with that.

Plays very nicely. That's actually I think I showed it last time, did I? Yeah, yeah. Uh Wind Waker. How's the weight balance for you to use this? Huh, I mean it's about you know the weight of a

Of a Thor, really, like something like the 1x sugar, you know, unicorn for a lot of people is heavier um in comparison, much heavier. So this is and this is actually quite comfortable to play with. Rad says jank, jank, jank. Dude, play Iron Tank. Best NES game. I agree. Like the The RDS is jank, but it got so much better. Um I think it does at least now it does what it w it set out to uh you know accomplish so

Yep. They should they should release a twelve gigabyte version of the RP six, that's true. I just realized after the fact like for the longest time with the RDS, if you don't boot your device with it connected, it's that's where I find the jank somehow is even worse. Like if you connect it while it's still powered. Somehow it there's more delay, the charging like works

have the time, but as long as you fire the device, like for example, my setup, I'm always connected. I never have issues. I can charge just fine. I can, you know. The one thing is it drains the battery. Uh that sucks. So I've had the device off. Uh whenever I'm done playing. did not know that actually that you if you plug it in after turning on the system it's going to be more janky. That's how I usually use it is turning on, you know, plugging in mid game.

So or you know, mid usage of the device. It's like okay, let's try a second screen on here. I never think to uh connect it and then turn it on. So that answers some questions. Thank you. That's great. Um And yes, please, Retroid, can we please bring back the twelve gigabyte version of the RP six? Like I know RAM prices are crazy, but I'm sure some of us would pay extra. If it costs you extra to make'em, people will still buy it. Some people anyways. I'm I am one of said people.

You know what I'd want to see? I think. RP Mini V three with uh A Gen two. I'd love to do that. That'd be awesome. I think we could fit an H N two in something that small. Yeah, we're all taken. Yeah, we hell yeah, we can. Because we got we got the H N2 for$150 right now. You can get an HN2 and a Motorola Edge Plus phone off eBay. Well uh and it's a tiny little phone, so I guess you could do it. Probably has some thermal throttling.

But uh Monto was talking about that deal today'cause Sujano I guess tweeted out about it. There's an HN1 one. H GN1 Motorola phone for$100. Like great unlocked condition. You know, pop on a controller there and you got yourself a nice little emulation setup.

If you could dock it, that's the that oh that was the appeal of the mini to me is like boy if you get that and then you could dock it, that feels like the ideal like you carry in your pocket and you could also travel with it and hook it up and play some real, like, significant games.

Yeah. And Were you saying y that you couldn't? You can dock it. can that's what I'm saying. Like that's that's the appeal of it. It's like it's small enough to fit in your pocket, but if you can bring a dock with you or somehow get it set up like all of a sudden you're hooked up to the T V and you're the hit with the kids when you go over to grandma's house.

Or even better, XR glasses, man. RP Mini V2 and XR glasses is oh, it is such a great setup. It weighs nothing, super light, just enough power. Yeah. Man, a dual screen a dual screen Android handheld would have blown my grandma's mind. Right. Man. Yep. Just seeing a smartphone in general. She had an iPhone, actually, iPhone four. Longest time. The mini longest time. The mini longest time. She never uh she never did get a dual screen iPhone though. 'Cause they haven't made one. Sad. It's coming.
