Episode description

Send us a text

Peace feels increasingly elusive in our chaotic world of wars, natural disasters, and social division. Many of us wake up and immediately fill our minds with anxiety-inducing content before even acknowledging God. Yet as believers, we're promised a peace that transcends our circumstances—not the absence of problems, but the steadfast presence of God.

This episode dives deep into why peace seems so hard to find and identifies the primary thieves targeting our tranquility. Fear keeps us fixated on "what-ifs" rather than who God is. Unforgiveness chains us to past hurts when freedom awaits through extending the same grace Christ gave us. A divided mind—attempting to straddle both worldly and kingdom values—creates inevitable internal turmoil that only full surrender can resolve.

The path to lasting peace begins with practical daily choices: seeking God before checking our phones, meditating on Scripture that anchors our souls, and developing a lifestyle of Spirit-led living where peace becomes our natural state rather than a fleeting experience. Most powerfully, we share Sarah's journey—a woman who found supernatural peace after losing her husband in a tragic accident. Her testimony proves that God's peace isn't circumstantial but rooted in His unchanging presence. Ready to experience this peace yourself? Accept our seven-day challenge to declare trust in God each morning while meditating on Philippians 4:7. Don't just seek temporary relief from anxiety—embrace the unshakable peace Christ promised even in our most turbulent seasons.

Intro

Hey , welcome to Renewed Mindsets , the podcast where we align our thoughts with the Word . I know hold on to in these times , finding peace in these last days . Now , when we look around at the world , it's clear that there are things that show us that we're living in times of great uncertainty .

There's wars , there's rumors of wars , moral decay , natural disasters and division , natural disasters and division . It's easy to feel overwhelmed , but as believers , we're not called to live in fear . We're called to live in peace , the kind of peace that doesn't come from the world but from our Savior , jesus Christ .

In John 16 , 33 , jesus reminds us I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace In this world . You will have trouble , but take heart , I have overcome the world . So today , friends , we're going to explore

What We Will Explore Today

why peace seems so hard to find , the biggest spiritual barriers that steal our peace , biblical truths that help us walk in God's peace and testimonies of people who found peace in the middle of trials . But before we begin , let's pray . Father , god , I pray that the Holy Spirit will come down upon every listener to bring peace and revelation .

Father , speak to us today and help us find peace . Amen .

The Search for Peace

All right , let's get started . Let's start with a question why does peace seem so hard to find ? Why does peace seem so hard to find ? I mean , if we're honest , many of us struggle with restlessness . The world is filled with distractions , bad news , fear-driven messages .

We wake up , we check our phones and , before we've even spoken to God , we've already filled our minds with anxiety . But here's the truth Peace is not the absence of problems , it's the presence of God . Yeah , isaiah 26.3 tells us you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you .

The key to peace isn't found in a perfect life . It's not found in money . It's not found in security . It's not found in a relationship . It's found in where we place our trust . If we're looking for peace in money or relationships or success , we're always going to come up empty . But if we put our trust in Jesus , we'll be unshaken , no matter what comes .

So how do we begin to walk in that peace

Spiritual Barriers to Peace

? So before we talk about how to find peace , we need to recognize what's stealing it from us . The first thing is fear and anxiety . Fear is one of the enemy's greatest weapons against believers . Fear is one of the enemy's greatest weapons against believers . He wants us to be so consumed by what-ifs that we forget who God is .

Philippians , chapter 4 , verses 6 and 7 , gives us this command Do not be anxious about anything , but in every situation , by prayer and petition with thanksgiving , present our worries to God . So if you've been feeling anxious , ask yourself have I really surrendered this to the Lord ? So then we've got unforgiveness and bitterness .

Another thing that robs us of our peace is holding on to past hurts . Jesus commands us to forgive , not just for the other person but for our own freedom . Colossians 3.13 says Bear with each other and forgive one another . If any of you has a grievance against someone , forgive , as the Lord forgave you .

If you're struggling with peace , ask yourself is there somebody that I need to forgive ? The next thing that robs us of peace is a divided mind . James 1.8 tells us a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways . If we're trying to live with one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom , we're always going to feel conflicted .

True peace comes when we surrender everything to Christ .

Biblical Keys to Peace

So now that we've identified the things that steal our peace , let's talk about how to walk in true , lasting peace . According to God's Word , the first thing that we have to do is seek God first in our lives . Matthew 6.33 tells us but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness , and all these things will be given to you as well .

Peace starts with prioritizing God . Most of us feel restless because we put God second or third in our lives . We squeeze him in between work and social media and entertainment . But when God is first , when we begin our day in His presence , everything else falls into place .

So what you can do to put God first is to start your day with prayer before checking your phone . You know you're guilty of it . I am too . We need to spend time in God's Word every day , even if it's just one chapter and this one I try to do myself . All the time is worship , before you worry .

Praise invites God's presence , and His presence brings peace . A lot of times during the day , you know if I'm driving down the interstate I'll just thank you Lord , praise you , father , bless you in the name of Jesus , just to get the words out , to get in the habit of praising God and worshiping him all throughout the day .

Another thing we need to do is meditate on Scripture . Psalm 119 , 165 says Great peace have those who love your law , and nothing can make them stumble . God's Word is our anchor in turbulent times when we don't know what to do . Scripture reminds us of God's promises .

If our minds are filled with fear , it's a lot of times because they're not filled with truth . So what can we do to meditate on Scripture ? It's easy .

Memorize at least one Scripture on peace this week , write it down , put it somewhere visible on your mirror , on your refrigerator , on your phone wallpaper and whenever anxiety creeps in , declare the Word of God out loud . Yeah , god's Word is alive and when we meditate on it we're transformed .

And that's what it's all about is transforming our minds right , renewing our minds . Another way we can walk in peace is to live in the Spirit . Galatians 5 , 22 and 23 tells us that peace is a fruit of the Spirit . That means the more we walk in the Spirit , the more peace we experience .

Yeah , the more we walk in the Spirit , the more peace we experience . Yeah , romans 8.6 says the mind governed by the flesh is death , but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace . It's right there in God's Word the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace . The Holy Spirit is our helper .

When we surrender daily to Him , he fills us with his peace , not the world's temporary relief . So , every day , ask the Holy Spirit to guide you , every morning when you wake up . Avoid things that quench the Spirit Sin , yeah . Dist , yeah . Distractions , negativity . We need to develop a habit of worship and thanksgiving .

A grateful heart attracts peace , and when we walk by the spirit , peace isn't something that we try to have .

Testimony of Peace in the Storm

It becomes who we are . So I want to share a story of someone who found peace in the middle of a storm . Now , this is a true story about a woman named Sarah , a woman who faced one of the most difficult seasons of her life but discovered the unshakable peace of God . Sarah was a devoted wife and mother of two young children .

Life was good and she not always trusted God , but nothing could have prepared her for what was coming . One evening , as she was making dinner , her phone rang . It was the hospital . Her husband , michael , had been in a terrible car accident . A drunk driver had run a red light . Michael had been in a terrible car accident .

A drunk driver had run a red light crashing into his car at full speed . The doctors did everything they could , but after hours of surgery , michael didn't make it . In an instant . Sarah's world shattered . She couldn't breathe , she couldn't think . All she could do was cry out God , why , why would you let this happen ?

The days that followed were filled with grief and confusion and fear . She didn't know how she would raise her children alone . She didn't know how she would pay the bills At night . The silence in the house was deafening and the weight of loneliness pressed down on her .

One evening , after putting her kids to bed , sarah fell on her knees in the living room With tears streaming down her face . She opened her Bible to Psalm 34 , 18 , which says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit . She cried out to God .

Lord , I don't understand this , I don't know how to move forward , but I choose to trust you . Please give me your peace Now . As she sat at that quiet place , something changed . She didn't hear an audible voice , she didn't see a vision , but she felt a peace settle over her , a peace she couldn't explain .

It was as if God was wrapping his arms around her , whispering I am with you . From that night forward , sarah made a choice Every day she would start her morning in prayer and in God's word , even when she didn't feel like it . She wrote out Philippians 4-7 and placed it on her refrigerator .

And the peace of God , which surpasses all understanding , will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus . Little by little , god began to restore her heart . She still grieved , but she was no longer consumed by fear . She still missed her husband , but she was no longer overwhelmed by despair . The peace of God carried her step by step .

A year later , sarah started a support group for widows and single mothers at her church . She shared her story of loss , but , more importantly , she shared how God had been her anchor in the storm . Through her pain , she was able to lead others to peace , the peace she had found in Christ .

Today , sarah looks back and realizes that the peace of God isn't about having an easy life . It's about knowing that , no matter what happens , he's in control . His peace isn't fragile . It isn't based on circumstances . It's rooted in the unchanging truth that he is always with us . I want you to listen to me .

Maybe you're here today and you're in your own storm . I know , I have been . We've all been there . Maybe life has thrown you into a season of uncertainty or loss or pain . I want you to know the same peace that Sarah found is available to you right now . Jesus says in John 14 , 27, . Peace I leave with you . My peace I give to you .

I do not give it to you as the world gives . Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid . If you're struggling today , I encourage you go to him , pray , surrender your worries and let his peace wash over you . He's closer than you think .

Closing Thoughts

So , as I wrap up , I want to remind you peace is a promise from God . It's not something you have to chase , it's something you receive . Now here's my next challenge for you For the next seven days . Begin each morning by declaring I choose to trust God today . His peace rules my heart .

I encourage you to write down Philippians 4-7 and meditate on it this week . Let it sink into your . Before we go , let's pray . Father God , I want you to reach down and touch everyone who listened here today . We've all been there . We've all had times when we had no peace .

Father God , I ask you to fill every listener with your peace In Jesus' name , amen .
