Episode description

Episode 74

Though in use since the 1940s, the term "woke" has become a very popular and common term to describe someone who is 'awake' to the systemic injustices perceived in institutional, political, societal, or cultural structures and seeks to actively combat them. In our day, it is describing someone who more often than not aligns with the moral and political ideologies of the left. Jesus, many claim, would be woke if He were walking the earth today. But is this true? Would Jesus affirm the ideologies championed by BLM, GLAAD, DNC, and others like them? Or does woke simply mean that Jesus would not turn a blind eye to the injustice that inevitably exists in an imperfect world by sinful men? On this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we explore these questions and seek to answer: what does it mean to be 'woke' and would Jesus be on that bandwagon?
