The original Haunting gives way to The Bawling (1999) as something truly unsettling is now reduced to a gaudy, overblown, over-CGI'd pileup of ghastly proportions! Julie Harris' thought voiceovers are replaced by Lili Taylor's tone-deaf yowls, and the name "Hugh Crane" will never be the same! Charles' editing serves to underscore the onscreen silliness.
