For those of you out there who love makeup are thinking about starting using makeup, she is the one for you today. Listen, I'm gonna let her introduce herself in her own way. Hello. Hello, I am a woman on a mission with a passion and aficion dreaming, living bone with God in front. I'm reaching my goal.
I dat I give up and I won't give out. Lead another sort of stresses what this journey is about. I am that yourself a record, living, loving, and laying back. Liz Firstan, thank you so much for having me child. I love it. That is awesome. Hey, you did it way better than I could ever have done it. That was awesome. Seriously, that was awesome. I love it. So tell us about Mary Kay. Well, mostly everybody know about Mary Kane or heard about
Marricane. Some people think that she's not a real person, but she really was a real person. Mary Kane was starting in nineteen sixty three. She started in business because she wanted to give women and now not only women, but she primarily wanted to give women an opportunity to get paid what they would work. Okay, she had been skipped over so many times in her during her own career, you know, So she wanted to give women a platform
of which they could be just a levant than anybody else. And so that's how and when's this business starting, uh, nineteen sixty three into businessess his started? So mary Kay's been around a long time. Wow, a long time. I mean I must have meant. I've heard of mary Kay myself over the years, and I've known people to to get into mary Kay. So that's very good information that you gave us background because it's something that I didn't really know myself. So I appreciate that. Yeah, so tell us
what started your journey with the mary Kay business. Well, sometime i've growed. I was approached by uh, someone that I went to church with and she was in the business, and she told me, she says, I have this video. I want you to take her up and look at it. So I took the video home. I looked at it and fell in the All I saw was women's just they were dressed up, looking cute, they wore having fun. Everybody was laughing. And smiling and just having a
good time. And so that's what I'm about. I like to have fun, I like to enjoy myself, and I like to post some eyes on other people's face. I feel like, if when I be the presence of someone, if I could just if I could just make one person smile, then my job is gone. But the day, my job is done. So that's what really started me to look into Mary Kane. I had not
ever tried the product. I was using a different product and so I didn't know anything about Mary Kay only what I saw in that video that excited me, and so then I tried the product. After it, I thought I started the business, but I tried the product and I fell in love. And I've been in love with Mary Kay every single Wow. So you just had that spark ignited and you ran with it. That's awesome. That's awesome. So tell us what is yours specific title slash your role in mary kaye
Consmetics. I am an independent senior sales director and Mary Kay which means that I have an offspring sales director that came in under me, So I have a mini me. All right, Well, yeah, I'm a senior sales director so as a senior sales director, tell us with your mary Kay business, what are some perks that you receive? Well, and Mary Kane just not only a sales director, but anybody. What I love about is that anybody comes into my business on the same plan field. Everybody starts in the
same spry. First of all, you get a fifty percent discount of anything that you purchased in Mary Kay. So even your own personal products you're not paying retail for when you're paying a wholesale for them for yourself, right, that's yeah, So that's number one. So that's anybody whenever you come into mary Kay. You also have if you can recount anywhere in the United States, as a consultant, in Mary Kane, you don't have any feelings.
There's nobody who's going to tell me how much or how little money you can make in mary Pay or how many people you want to introduce to the business, Mary Paane. There's no limit for that. So I love that as well. And then you also get some tax benefits in mary Kay, you know, because it's a home based business, so you know, you get to run off a percentage of the space in your home where you're even your
apartment. If you're renting, you have a tax break as far as your mileage when you're going to drop off products or going to have a skincare party or whatever. Your mileage, your staff phone bill, you're traveling, some of your travel. If it's Mary Kay related, that's all the tax is ben and I just love it, but no other reasons. That's an amazing thing with Mary Kay. And what I like is that you don't have to
there's no other direct selling uh business that's going to give you. You're seen off everything that you're saying that right, It's like if you work it at this this department store, and let's say you're the cashier of that okay, and everything that you sell that day, at the end of the day, they say, hey, we're gonna give you fifty percent everything that you wrong up today. Well that's just about what it requits. Is it clates to American and I love it. You work when you want to work, how
you want to work. You don't have to wait for somebody to die or retire for you to promote yourself. You promote yourself when you want to promote yourself, and you work as fast or slow as you want to. It's tut me up to you. You write your own check American. And I love Wow, you sound so passionate. I mean I can hear it in your voice. You sound, oh, I love this, I really really
really do. And and and another thing that I really really like is is you know, when we're on our everyday jobs, you have to if you get a new coworker or whatever and your boss say, hey, you need to train this person or that person, you have to do it now. That person might be just none else proud cake. What I mean by that? You know, some people are not very easy to get along with,
So that's what I mean by that. And so regardless of the bad person as good to get along with, it easy to get along with, y not. You have to train that person if you want to keep your job. Not show what unit tak you know, I mean it kind of person out being untan and you don't want to be bothered with that. You leave that for the next somebody, mean you keep going, you know, I love it. So you get to pick chose. So somebody invite somebody into
this business. Trust me, there's something that they have seen in that person, and probably something that they haven't seen in themselves, you know, and it it it it's really it's like a it's a club that you don't just walk into. It's a membership that you don't walk into. Somebody has to invite you or bring you into this. And it's an amazing, amazing job. Wow wow. So I mean it sounds phenomenal. And as I said, you are you telling us just through listening to you speak about it,
how much you enjoy and how special it is to you. And that was gonna be one of my questions. But you've talked so much about it, but is there any specific thing that you would like to tell us what makes it so special to you? Well, the thirst the foremost thing that I'm still very problem right now is that mary Kay has been named number one in the direct fhipment brand of skincare and color cosmetics in the world. Wow.
And that was done by euro Monitor International, which is a local market research analysis and our consumer and trade organization that has more They got more than fifty years of experience conducting research across more than one hundred different countries. So we are number one in the world. And I'm so proud and so excited about that. That is awesome. I mean, that is wonderful. Listen, besides makeup, tell us what other services that you provide for customers, like
via virtual things like that. Not only make up, but our number one and the heartbeat of me is slim here. That's what Mary kay is out about skincare. Some people say, oh, well, I don't wear making a great because it's all about skincare. To me, skincare is like getting a canvas ready for a painting. So if that canvas is not ready or properly maintained or preserved, then your picture is gonna be a man. I
mean you five men. So when Mary Kaine's and skincare regiments, we have skincare for combinations of only skin in order to dry skins active can skin. We have a skincare fly. I call it the grown and Exist. It's called time wise repairs for the ones that's right in seasoning, like myself. Okay, so we even have men skincare, so we you know, skincare is very very important to me. It's like a when you go to the doctor, and when you're more physical, you're not going to the doctor because
something is wrong. You're going to exactly make sure, everything's okay. It's productive making yes. To me, skincare is preventive maintenance. We can yet new nails every two weeks. We can get new hair, we can get new cheese, we get a new handbagging new shoes. But you're stuck with the skin. You any baby, you can't get new skins. So we have to take care of their skin, you know. And so this is what I encourage people to do. I tell them I don't sell. I
tell I tell you how to trade here of your skin. I show you how to take care of your skin. And as a result, you look better and you feel better and you're looking younger. Mary Kane is amazing. I love Mary kay reason not because got here, but be kind. I used it. I would never stop you. And I tried other things because I like to come pare. I like to compare, and I like to tell my customers about the comparison. So this is this is what mel kids
are. But it's about skin care. We also have break We have fragrances from men and women's and our favor fragrances are phenomenal. So I do we also to swell. But that's what we do. Skin care of post cosmetic, fragrance, body care. You know that's what we do. We look, we can't care you listen. I love it. I absolutely love the metaphor you used about the skin being a canvas. I mean that was point on. That was point on, and it is so true. People ignore
what's right there in our faces. What you know that that part of us that we need to take a lot of care, tender love and care with which is our skin. It's the biggest organ that we have, you know. Definitely a training, There is no FEA training training is absolutely free. Oh yes, yes, that comes me. That comes with the
kit that comes with me. There is a virtual training that we have once a week and those that are in the city or the area within they can come to the actual training. Other than that, there is a virtual training and once someone is in the business, then they'll be given all the information of how to connect and get your training. Also on your back office in Mary Kay, there's what we call MK University, so there's all kind of
training in there. There is everything in there. Everything in that training and to join the business is a very minimal amount. You'll probably be surprised that what it is to join the business. But that information I can give them when they get in contact with great Great listen, they've heard everything about the business directly from you. So what I want to know now is tell us why being an entrepreneur is so rewarding. That's easy. You write your own
check. Absolutely, work when you want to work. You work as much do you want to work, or as iteration you want to work. Everything is not forever goody. So if you get into the business and you find that okay, I don't think I lie. If is LI for me, fine, quitch stop. You don't have to give anybody a two weeks morning. You don't own anybody anything. And trust me, the money that you use to become a consult we spend that much money every two weeks on our
nails and our feet, or on our probably more on your hair. I'm pretty sure more on your hair. Okay, So I mean it's it's it's it's rewarding. Be rewarding because you get to do you like you want to do you. Is that also a recommendation or a suggestion for becoming an entrepreneur? Do you think that that people should try it? Oh? Yes, indeed, because you never know until you try something. I never know. I'm not just washed until I ate it for the first time. Watch,
I thought that was the nastiest thing. It just didn't look good for me, you know. And now girl, give me a good wash car. So you just never know. And once in another thing, if you think you want to try something, if you want to be your own boss, if you want to be a boss baby, before I hang with the faker trying working, try it and I tell everybody, look, you take nine months to birth, amazing, give it nine months to kee. Wow, how do you like it? And then if most people say, oh,
I don't know how to sell anything. That's great. I like people that don't know if I feel anything, because that way I can train you. I can teach you. I can coach you on how to sell this amazing product. Okay, so believe it or not, we fell it every day. See we don't get paid for it. Yes, but you you spell something every day. The last good movie that you saw, the last good book that you read, the last great restaurant that you went through, and
it was amazing. What did you do? You went back and you told all your fun June bigging you too, all hold up about these people's food, they restaurant, they moved, what the book and what happened intern they took all their family or they told somebody else or everyone could see it, or they bought the book, or they tried the restaurant. These people made money. You saw those people's products and you didn't get a dance for it. That is yeah, So why not try a product? Why not try
a business and share it with somebody? Mary Kay, she made this business so she was just this supposed to being a genius. Okay, she she created this business so that not just one person couldn't make money or the she created this business so in a way that you got to bring somebody with you in order to do a certain thing in a business. Now you can be a consultant in this business and you can make as much money as you want. Being a consultant. You don't have to team bill. You can just
build that product. Get your product at fifty stay, make as much money as you want. Okay. But if you don't reach back and ring another person with you, share this amazing opportunities with somebody else by introducing them to this amazing business, You'll never drive a career car. Okay. You'll never wear a suit because the director suit suit. You'll never become a national, a national sales director. Uh is the cream of the cross, she said
the marpor a time. You'll never do that if you don't share the opportunity because mary Kay created it so that everybody could what they say, get a piece of pie. Okay, and that's what I like about this business. But if you don't want that, you don't have to do that. I came into mary Kay in five times. I came into a Marykay driving a career car and became a sales director. If I can do it, anybody can do it. Let me tell you, I gotta tell you this.
You need to start your own on podcast because let me tell you, you are awesome. I mean, you are phenomenal at interviewing you. You don't even realize it, you are phenomenal. Well, let me tell you a lot of people wish they were a nervous wreck and come and spilling it out like you are. Because you've gone excellent, you really have. You've covered so much. You've covered the beginning of Mary Kay, the start of it.
You've covered different areas. You've told us about the training, You've told us about one thing that you said a few moments ago, And I just want to ask you about it. I've seen it around. But I want to ask you about the car. Have you ever gotten a car? Oh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, right now I'm driving a Mary Kay car. Wow. Yeah. And like I said, five months after I rebound my business, I came out with my car and got rectuship. So yeah, the car is real. It's real. It's real. Mary Kay pays
thank her, and not every month. And if you do not want to be the car, you don't have to take the car. You can take the money of the month, Mary Kay will define the bad money into your account and the month a day cars. Listen. So the college dream you heard it, You heard it from Elizabeth herself. Listen before we move further, is there anything else that you would like the people to know about Mary
Kay in your business? What I would say is, if you are considering but being a business owner, uh, and you will your own bone. You're in business for yourself, but you're not by yourself. You got myself and many other directors to offic you along the way. But if you are considering that, try it. Step out on face and try it. Don't make someone tell you, oh god, I don't work. Oh boy, that's good and it's not gonna do like that. Well, somebody might have
tried it. They may not have worked the business like they were instructed to, or they might not done anything in the business. So no, it won't work for you. But you have to work. Just have you work hard on your job for others, for their company and their business. Then you have to know that you are a business owner and you have to work
that business for yourself. You have to don't be cheated by someone whispering in your ear telling you what doesn't work or what can't work, because nobody knows what you can do, but you right, and you are the only person that can stand in your way. You're kind, so I would say you can try. Nobody's gonna get mad at with you who decide you don't want to do it. It's okay, but you'll never know and you don't try. And they say nothing beats a fail but a try. So I agree
wholeheartedly to try. It's right. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right, absolutely absolutely. So.
