On today’s episode of Relationship Status Podcast, the crew is joined by Authors & Philanthropists Jamiyl and Tracy-Ann Samuels. The couple starts out by talking about how they met and their journey to marriage. Jamiyl talks about how a Spike Lee film inspired him to write. Jamiyl then gets into how the writing process goes, how the idea for the first book (“Pass the Torch” 2011) was born, and how hip hop saved him. They then got into how the absence of Jamiyl’s father affected being a father and husband, the difference between being “present” and being “a father”, and the triggers that blocked him from being a great dad. Tracy Ann discusses what had her support him unconditionally, how she did that, and what you’re willing to do if you love someone. The crew and the couple talk about the narrative that has to change, the birth of the second book “Where’s my Daddy?”, and how trying to hurt the other parent hurts the child.
