In this episode, George Couros shares insights from his new book, Innovate Inside The Box: Empowering Learners Through UDL and the Innovator's Mindset with co-author Katie Novak, and reflects on lessons learned throughout his career as a teacher and school administrator. By combining the principles of his first book, The Innovator's Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity (2015) with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Couros and Novak were able to create a new, dynamic method of empowering educators to create purposeful learning opportunities for all students. The book includes a focus on building relationships, developing the eight characteristics of the Innovator's Mindset, how to use UDL to design more authentic learning experiences and how to create learner-driven, evidence-informed learning experiences with more choices to maximize student success.
