Episode description

We should have a genuine legend of comedy on the show on Sunday, but in the meantime we thought it apposite to spend an hour shitting one of of our formative comic heroes: Mr Eric Idle, of Monty Python and Rutles fame. Idle has nailed his anti-Corbyn colours to the mask in recent days, largely in the form of a heated feud with our friends from the left-wing Canadian podcast Michael & Us. He's screamed to anyone who'd listen that Corbyn plans to nationalise Monty Python, that Labour's plans are not, in fact, socialism, but communism, and casually outed the entire Python cast & crew as picket-crossing scabs. As learned Pythonologists, Jack and Geraint examine the politics of Python - those evidenced in their collective work, and in their personal statements through the years - and pour one out for another venerable comedian addled by a steady flow of cash and a kneejerk celebrity McCarthyism. We also look at Idle's very worst film - The Rutles 2 - and his Python comrade John Cleese's incredible back catalogue of SDP/Liberal Alliance and Lib Dem propaganda videos.
